Yup, it’s the one important thing that multiplies the potency of the aircraft many folds.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
Mirage 2000 appears to have serial number of KF125 and from No 1 Tigers Squadron. The SHAR is from No 300 White Tigers Squadron. Probably a squadron meet of the Tigers, based on name.
Someone commented in the tweet, that the location is likely Vizag. I believe that is a Remora ECM pod on the Mirage 2000.

The precise location (as i have also mentioned in the twitter post) is 14°37'47.90"N 74°16'59.60"E, about 15 km south of Karwar.Rakesh wrote:Mirage 2000 appears to have serial number of KF125 and from No 1 Tigers Squadron. Not that the location is relevant or important, but just for the challenge I matched with photograph with Google Earth imagery.

Another one! This is a beauty. Drag and drop picture into a new window to see in bigger size. I am going to attempt to identify some of the pilots. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. If folks can recognize and identify the other pilots, it would be great. I can see a lot of familiar faces, but for I cannot put the name to the face.
1) I can recognize Air Marshal Anil Chopra (Retd) at extreme right (sitting down).
2) I believe that is Wing Commander Ramesh "Joe" Bakshi standing second from left. He was killed during IAF Day on 08 Oct 1989, during his aerobatic maneuvers in his Mirage 2000 (serial # KF-102).
3) I believe that is Air Marshal Padamjit Singh Ahluwalia (Retd) standing fourth from right.
4) Air Marshal Chopra (Retd) says that the officer at bottom left (standing) is Air Vice Marshal Keshav Gopal Bewoor (Retd), son of former Indian Army Chief --> General Gopal Gurunath Bewoor (who succeeded Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in 1973). I never even knew the Army Chief's son was a M2K pilot, much less who served in the Indian Air Force!
5) I believe that is Air Marshal Tejbir Singh Randhawa (Retd) sitting on the ladder of the Mirage 2000.
I believe the first batch of 8 pilots who completed their training are sitting on top (actually only seven on top), as Air Marshal Anil Chopra (Retd) led the first Mirage 2000 contingent from France to India.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
Patch is from No 102 Trisonics Squadron which flies the Su-30MKI. The squadron got the name Trisonics from the MiG-25 which had a top speed of Mach 3. The squadron was raised on 25 August 1981 with the MiG-25 @ the Trishul Air Base in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh and was retired from the same air base in 2006. The squadron was then re-raised with the Su-30MKI on March 08, 2011 @ Chabua Air Force Station in Assam.
For folks who follow numerology ---> 102 ---> 1+0+2 ---> 3 (Trisonics)
The IAF has a wicked sense of humour when handing out squadron names
Pop Quiz - What is the type of helicopter operated by the IAF and has a unit name of Featherweights?

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
Can someone with connections in HAL please tell them to buy the rights to these images and use ONLY them for Dhruv/Rudra marketing efforts and not some rubbish images taken by PR Dept.? These are amazing and I'm enjoying this powerful visual representation of Indian engineering and firepower.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
These photos are astonishing.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
Very nice pictures. Truly breath-taking. The photographer's (Arjun Menon) father was in the Indian Army.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Armed Forces
The latest Mk4 series Dhruv and Rudra look very TFTA even from upclose. Especially the Rudra. Love the black color.

“My dad was a pilot for the Indian Army
Like most kids that age, I used to feel that dad was the coolest. I mean, he was flying heavy metal machines stacked with guns and troops in some of the harshest environments on Earth, and still come home like it was no big deal. It was like GI Joe, for real. Sixteen years ago, we lost him to a helicopter crash. Somewhere, deep inside, I wanted to bring out some of this daredevilry of the Indian Army in a contemporary way. That was the inception of the project: ‘The Extraordinary’.”
