Is this just a new name for Darin-III with additional features or a comprehensive rebuild?
Here’s HAL’s ‘Jaguar MAX’ upgrade to open Darin-II airframes up to more weapon choices (including the ability to deploy 4 privately developed swarm drones — seen below the model in that photo), better network centric code and all-round performance fine-tunes. #Aeroindia2019

Re: Aero India 2019
It was really not all that clear. Wasn't much problem for me, but there were a lot of people who had parking problems ( were not letting cars park ) and many exhibitors were delayed in setting up their stalls. One even complained to republic TV !arshyam wrote:Saar, to be fair, the schedule is pretty clearly called out on the site:csaurabh wrote:Poor organization skills of babus on full display!

Anyway, it was a pretty great event otherwise. Took lots of pics, but I think they would be no good compared to the official ones.

10 minute talk about the LCA Mk2.. 6.5 tonne payload, 11 hardpoints!! This is a heavy hitter. Get this into service, pronto!

All discussions on the Surya Kiran crash must be only in the Military Flight Safety thread.
All discussions on the F-21 (aka F-16 Block 70) have been moved to the MMRCA thread.

Re: Aero India 2019
Did not expect this at AI'19. No better way to show status, but to show it fitted to a real test prototype! The Brahmos M is also a nice touch. But what is the status of Brahmos M?nam wrote:Waiting for this baby to fly.
Re: Aero India 2019
The thing is LCA is getting very aggressive upgrades, which none of the jets in IAF even come close to.
Base platform-> refueling probe-> MK1A - MK2.
LCA will probably be flying with a AESA, even before IAF has decided on which AESA goes on SU30!

I don't expect it to be ferried in C17 or road...
So technically it has flown , so certified for flight.

Mitron.... WHat is this I see....a note about FOSee I mean FOC for LCA at AI.
I know there was another article (posted a month ago) about LCA getting FOC but this seems new and has more cred. What's going on?

Alright...just checked the Tejas thread...late to the party...but hey, this is still an AI-related news.Declaring the FOC, DRDO Chairman G Satheesh Reddy under whom ADA functions, described it thus: "This is the best ever moment for any aeronautical engineer, and a landmark day for scientists, industry and the air force."

Its not a mock up but LSP-2, Its not necessary to have flown as in one of the previous Aeroindia they had brought the LSP1 by road as the display aircraft

Re: Aero India 2019
You guys broke my CT ! But I hope to see it flying in 2019.
On to the next CT. Our ARM seem to be exact copy of Astra... but very much bigger. Lets me think it has A2A capability. Not just hunting ground radars.
It may be a longer ranged Astra as well. All it needs is the seeker in the nose..

nam, what if its a2a target is AWACS. separate seeker, hain?
Re: Aero India 2019
I like your CT, as per your some open sources the NGARM has dual pulse motor.. Why do you need dual pulse motor unless you want to widen the envelop of engagement. Certainly not needed for ground targets, IMHOnam wrote:You guys broke my CT ! But I hope to see it flying in 2019.

Yes, it's neither a mockup nor did it fly. It simply took a drive across townKakarat wrote:Its not a mock up but LSP-2, Its not necessary to have flown as in one of the previous Aeroindia they had brought the LSP1 by road as the display aircraft
Re: Aero India 2019
ARM has dual pulse motor. Perfect for A2A kill of Pak AWACS.
So Astra dual pulse might be around the corner or may be already there.
Astra range described at 100KM.

And 100km is achieved range in real test some time ago. 120km exlected for Mk2.nam wrote:ARM has dual pulse motor. Perfect for A2A kill of Pak AWACS.

Thanks for the pic, Rishi_Tri-ji. It also confirmed another doubt for me: how did they transport the aircraft with those wide wings. The photo shows they have been detached.
Re: Aero India 2019
Wow!! Tejas family has now grown suddenly .... reminiscent of high TFR groups in eastern UP Anyways
Tejas MK1 - FOC - 40 in production - design concluded by ADA now in full production by HAL, better replacement for those russian rust buckets(which might have been biryani last week but is stale today)
Tejas MK1A - in HAL's hands - not sure ADA's contribution but they are talking about first flight 3years from T0(T0 being ministry approval for the financial quote), may be someone attending can ask what happened after two revisions ... this order is for HAL's to lose, there are two COTS equipment (over simplification alert) AESA, ELTA and AAR+real estate management/simplification for LRUs - most likely in good hands in HAL, as most of the items being handled are in the production domain and less on Applied research domain
Tejas AF MK2 a.k.a MWF - Wonderfully thought out new design which builds incrementally over all the learnings from MK1, already wind tunnel tested, DFM(although not an aero term) ready, jigs ordered, maturing at the right time to replace the M2K, Mig29s but considerable work. Hope ADA-HAL combo pull it off
Tejas Navy MK2 - quite a different bird when compared with its AF sibling. Instead of having two forward planes(canards) behind the pilot it is now tailwings should have been a major impact on the Control laws. I know that the CLs have been built modular but this much amount of variance ... well they are confident and pulling it so am sure they would have thought through it...
The larger question for armchair folks like us is what do we name the new birds(given thats the best we can do) .... anushka(the bahubali one) for MK2-IAF ...

Wrong title, very DDM. Can't tolerate asnine warped logic of ms.Meher, like non actor accident slew him.
Re: Aero India 2019
The irony that LCA is expected to be flying with a Indian AESA radar in a month's time, while the preferred AESA 2052 will be flying in 2022!
It will be even more awkward if LRDE qualifies Uttam on LCA before MK1A first flight..
Someone needs to put this simple question to HAL.

Re: Aero India 2019
One general query about Aero India:
What are the things prohibited in this show, I got my General visitor ticket from BookMyShow and cameras are in prohibited.
But last time i went with the camera(a digi cam) and no issues.
is there any change of rule for general public.

One, shows the number of types we operate. Another one will come this year. We can probably have our version of Aero India, without any one participating.
Second, that smallest one in the row, which is hardly visible and it's 1.3 mtr longer cousin is intended to replace every thing else, other than the big daddy! Just for perspective..
Incredible how small LCA is even compared to Mig-21!
