Modi is right about RG Sr. He is speaking truth. People know that. This is nothing compare to the abuse that these opposition parties hurl at him which media do not report.

May be so better be careful. Key for BJP is move on and not to encourage debate on this. Keep quiet and calm, if media ask for reaction only say Modi spoke the truth and we don't want to digress from current issues by debating and analyzing it. Congress will want this to be debated, don't take the bait.

Sorry, but most in the forum come from apolitical backgrounds - i.e those who have not even taken part contested/campaigned for a "mess secretary" post in college campus.
Politics is a vicious business where one has to be seen giving more that one gets.Else he is branded a darpok & useless.

If pappu makes big claims that he is going to destroy NaMo's incorruptible image let him first protect his pappa's image which is being taken to cleaners by the facts raked up & spread to the people by the BJP machine as i type this.

I think Modi knows he is winning, and is gaming this to make RG Jr and Congress lose their cool, and increase the vitriol toward Modi. Also when they later cry about EVMs, they sound even more deranged

IBNLIVE

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Saturday tried to contact West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to discuss cyclone Fani but could not do so as his calls were not returned, a top government official has said.
The prime minister then spoke to state governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, the official said.

"Two attempts were made by the prime minister's staff to connect Modi with Banerjee over phone. On both the occasions they were told that the call would be returned. On one occasion they were told that the CM is on tour," the official said.

The statement came after the Trinamool Congress hit out at PM Modi for not talking to Ms Banerjee about the ground situation in the state in wake of the cyclone.

The prime minister had tweeted about his discussion with the governor.

Prakash Javadekar: Congress is getting desperate as eight out of ten people support PM Modi. I am surprised to see the violent reaction of both sister and brother (referring to Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi) on a true statement made by Prime Minister. Rahul Gandhi is calling names and cursing Modi because of dynast arrogance, and think power is their birth right.

Briefing the media, Union minister Prakash Javadekar said, “They (Congress) are playing politics of abuses. Gandhi’s are rattled and they can’t tolerate it. Rajiv Gandhi defended the 1984 riots. People of the country know everything. After four phases of polling, it is clear that Congress is losing this election.”

Sorry but i dont understand this whining ..

Modi (heading PIF in Panipat 4 against BIF) aptly summed up net worth of Rajiv Gandhi's life as "died as Brashtachari no 1".
Its the reality - get over it and come out of "my sensibilities have been hurt onlee" kind of weak kneed stuff.

Karna, Duryodhana & Indrajit - it was necessary and rightfully so.

Aside, read this article on abuse of power by Sr.RG when the FAM used Aircraft carrier to holiday in Lakshwadeep. INS Virat was mobilized to Arabian sea along with its assortment consisting of submarine and entire retinue of escort ship to suit Sr.RG's holiday plan.

https://www.indiatoday.in/magazine/indi ... e=magazine

Invitees included Amitabh and Ajitabh, whose assets were under probe then and now BackOps address is Ajitabh's address. Somethings never chnage. The muck runs deep.

Also, let's not forget
1984 - Sikh massacre, Bhopal gas tragedy
1985 - Shah Bano
1986 - Bofors & HDW
1987 - IPKF (may have dealt the situation in a better manner)

During 1984 to 1989 Sr.RG changed the cabinet so many times that his governance was termed as "Wheel of confusion".

An utterly incompetent and ruthless corrupt government is what Sr.RG ran and media portrayed him as Mr.Clean. NaMo is going for the jugular now. Let's support and cull the family forever from Bharat. The whole FAM is a cancer and chemo is what is needed. No point in getting overly sensitive over a political jibe.

Rahul Gandhi's former business partner got defence offset contracts during UPA regime

While BJP and Congress party have been at loggerheads on the issue of Congress President Rahul Gandhi's citizenship issue, documents released by both the parties have established that Rahul Gandhi did open a company named Backops Limited in UK in partnership with an individual named Ulrik Mcknight

Ankit Kumar New Delhi Last Updated: May 4, 2019

The co-promoter of Congress president Rahul Gandhi's UK firm Backops Limited, UK acquired defence offsets under the UPA regime. Ulrik Mcknight was 35% co-owner of Backops UK, in which Rahul Gandhi owned a majority 65% equity between 2003 and 2009 before the firm was wound up. Mcknight later went on to acquire offset contracts from French defence supplier Naval Group against Scorpene submarines in 2011.

Subsidiaries associated with Rahul Gandhi's former business partner received defence contract as an offset partner of the French firm Naval Group during UPA regime, documents accessed by India Today indicate. While BJP and Congress party have been at loggerheads on the issue of Congress President Rahul Gandhi's citizenship issue, documents released by both the parties have established that Rahul Gandhi did open a company named Backops Limited in UK in partnership with an individual named Ulrik Mcknight.

According to filings made by the Backops UK, Rahul Gandhi and Mcknight were the founding directors of the company where Gandhi owned majority 65% shares and Mcknight owned 35% shares as on June 2005. According to election affidavit filed by Congress president in 2004, Rahul Gandhi declared movable assets belonging to Backops Europe, including bank balance in its three accounts. This company was dissolved in February 2009.

Rahul Gandhi has also been associated with a company with similar name Backops Services Private Limited where his sister and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra served as a co-director. Rahul Gandhi in his election affidavit of 2004 declared that he owned 83% shares in this Indian firm and had made a capital investment of Rs 2.50 lakh in the same. Incorporated in 2002, this company was too dissolved later and its last returns were filed in June 2010. However, Rahul Gandhi's former business partner and his future companies went to benefit from offset contracts given by French defence company.

Curious case of Rahul Gandhi's business partner

The Defence Deal

In 2011, as part of its offset obligations, French defence manufacturing company Naval Group (formerly known as DCNS) had signed a contract with Visakhapatnam-based Flash Forge Private Limited for the supply of critical parts for the Scorpene submarines being built at Mumbai's Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL). The French firm was under contract to work with MDL to build six Scorpene submarines under a contract worth approximately Rs 20,000 crore. In the same financial year, the Indian firm Flash Forge acquired a UK based company named Optical Armour Limited. Next year in November 2012, two of Flash Forge directors were given directorship of Optical Armour Limited. On November 8, 2012, the day these two individuals assumed the directorship of the UK Company Ulrik Mcknight was also given directorship of the company. That's not all, according to the filings made by Optical Armour in 2014 McKnight was allotted 4.9% shares by the firm.

Flash forge acquired another UK based company named Composit Resin Developments Limited in 2013. In the same year, Mcknight also joined the company as one of the directors along with two directors from Flash Forge Limited. According to websites of Naval Group, their India partners include Flash Forge and CFF Fluid Control Private Limited (a joint venture between Flash Forge and another French group Coyard). India Today could not reach Mcknight for a comment, this article will be updated if he makes a statement.

While Indian and European companies associated with Rahul Gandhi were dissolved before the French company Naval Group engaged in a contract with Flash Forge, the fact that Congress president's former business partner benefited through the European subsidiaries of an Indian offset partner which was contracted during UPA era is bound to open a Pandora's box.

An incredibly well written article. I've hardly ever read something like that, which left me engrossed while simultaneously causing my eyes to well up in some places. The author describes the situation extremely well.

There's a bit of rah rahing in at the end in favor of privatizing PSUs, but I think in this case, the author is giving insufficient credit to the extent to which the statist system is still in place and has the political backing of the center left (especially the shrill CPI/CPM extremes)
Absolutely. This piece is a class apart. Super-competent wordage. This is the sort of thing that changes minds, or at least weakens the ramparts, until the next one comes along and the next one after... Slow process, but this one is memorable.

What's this nonsense of not talking about the dead? Let me see people following all indic values and cherry picked ones. Talk about history of traitors everyday and learn from the history or become one. What's next? Let's not talk about terrorists, churchill, mughals, mohammed, etc. One may as well shut down all funeral classifieds to annual shradhh.

No one should ever be allowed to forget how the Hindu civilization was taken to cleaners in 1940s by british stooges and their littering.

This tendency of RW getting apologitic about everything is what eco-system takes benefit of. Rajiv Gandhi was one of worst PM India had and that's a fact which should be told. They get away by saying anything and we feel sorry for stating facts. Get behind ur leaders guys.
the chap was a crazy cowboy, getting involved in SL and sending troops to male.

had he continued, there was no telling as to where and in what mess he would have landed us in.

this was a guy who mistook movement for action and paid the price for his follies.

we are still paying the price for his shao bano debacle.

IG messed him up good by doing two things.

1) setting a bad example of what can and cannot be done in a democracy.

2) setting the national security bar too high for her mediocre progeny to follow.

She was a very hard act to follow. She took on the amerikis and showed them their place.

The son, intellectually ill equipped, tried and failed miserably and got himself killed in the process.

he didn't die for the nation, in fact, he made countless others needlessly die for the country. he wasn't even in office when he died.

It will be a huge win if NDA gets 13 in TN. I am very skeptical.
Ha ha ha... what condition you will be if NDA+ gets 32 i imagine!

twitter

SC asks EC to decide if voting can begin at 5 am during Ramzan

Elections in Ramzan:
1. 1962: Loksabha Polls
2. 1982: Panchayat Polls
3. 1988: Panchayat Polls
4. 2013: Bengal Panchayat Polls
5. 2018: Kairana Polls

I wanna know Whether SC asked same question to EC in those Polls?
