Massa already said they will ship oil to India at a price point at which we import from Saudi. Some contracts were drawn or not? Even with that, US is an untrustworthy ally as they have proved again and again not only with India, even their closest allies like Japan.

I feel that this Baghdad ishtrike bijnej is coordinated with Pootinji. Once Idlib tamasha is over, Yoo Ess may slowly pull out of the Oil Protection bijnej. Turkey still holds some Syrian territory but otherwise Syria is nearly all back together. There is a joint Syrian/Russian oil strike offshore, so Assad may be OK with not getting back more than some percentage of the Deir-e-Zor / Tal Afar oilfields.

Which brings us to the de-escalation prospects. Iranian stock is riding sky-high, and for good reason, in Syria and shia Iraq, also in Yemen and maybe Lebanon. The Ayatollahs will not just let that advantage go, and I suspect Putinji runs into severe resistance when he tries to reason with them. After all, they hold the ground - in both Syria AND Iraq.
Israel will not tolerate growing Iranian power in Syria.

So US strike is to decapitate the Ayatollahs' grip on Iranian military. For all his heroism, Suleimani was 100% Ayatollahs' man. So Unkil shows how E-Z it is to take out their netaship. Maybe now they will be amenable to a Putin-brokered peace. Just our Predictor-Corrector hypothesis.

Reaction on RT.com, while not missing the chance to kick the US, is nowhere as loud as it should be if this outraged the Russians. They are focusing more on corbyn and donkeystanis attacking the attack. Of course Putin is not going to be unhappy that US stock goes even lower in Eyerak.

I hope Idlib offensive keeps going to the finish. Suleimani and these others are kaput in the chess game, what-2-do?

PMU are denying this, let's wait for official confirmation. First they said the strike was in Sinjar, then Taji (north of the capital).

PS - Israeli jets well into Syrian FIR in the wee hours of the morning.

Edit: IAF jets seen and heard above Beirut, like proper Lebanon. So far they have limited engagement to commercial drones rigged with grenades.

Some Iranians themselves were fed up with Solemani

He was running an independent foreign policy and was master of self promotion (there are 1000 pictures of him posing in the battlefield). There was speculation he might run for president (he was supreme leader's right hand man).

Cannot rule out iranian faction giving him up.

habal wrote:tactically this assasination of solaimani by US is a blunder. It justifies Iranian retaliation on US or Israel and they cannot attack Iran beyond a limit after which China, Russia & allies step in (if they want to establish themselves as major players in gulf) and solidify the red lines. Iran will become kingpin in mideast if China, Russia use this excuse and move in heavy weaponry to protect Iran.

Solemani was probably planning something along the lines of Beirut Barracks bombing. He was doing these kind of extra curricular activities with impunity, because he was a combination of National security advisor, ISI chief, Foreign secretary and Hafiz Saeed all rolled into one. How to kill such a person? He derives legitimacy by serving his state in an official capacity. At the same time, he is involved in deniable proxy operations and operates outside of official policy. Think of the problem India has with Pakistan and multiply that by a 100 (India signs a deal with Badmash, ISI chief funds terror attacks against India anyway because he doesnt listen to Badmash and on top of that ISI chief is Hafiz Saeed). How to deal with such a person?

Iran left Massa only with one course of action.

Basically what Iran is saying is "If you let Solemani live, he will organize terror attacks. If you kill him we will all be so outraged that we will organize terror attacks!!"

Iran will retaliate in one of four ways
1) Mass casualty attack against american forces like Beirut bombing
2) Many attacks on US interests across the world like attacking diplomats on foreign soil
3) Symbolic attacks like attacking a US aircraft carrier
4) Assassinating someone on US soil

None of these are going to lead to anything positive. Bolton's mustache just twitched and he is upset that a new war is going on without him.

To give an idea how fraught shipping is in the straits of hormuz

The white streaks are Iran fast boats the big white splotch is an aircraft carrier.

technically they can keep on going playing both assasin and avenger until the bear steps in and 'err whats going on here', just like in syria.

the fascinating aspect of this strike is that it gives opportunities to adversaries to shut out usa from the mideast altogether. Just wargame any scenario from here on and it just plays into russian hands eventually (if they so desire).

Iran will wait jntil it is sure an attack will be a success. It has several options.Terror bombing attacks. Its own drone attacks and juicy naval targets in the Gulf. The last mentioned will require Oniks/ Yakhont type AShMs with a little help from Russia. Will Russia however want such an escalation? My feeling isa huge NO.None of thd big powers barring the US want another conflagration in the ME given the global eco. crisis. Calculated US targets anywhere on thd globe would be a wiser strategy for the Iranians but such a public figure assassinates, Iran's no.2, will demand from Iranians a huge response.

Iran cannot hide. If it does anything the Americans have unlimited options. Just for example, if the Americans decide to sink their entire navy, how can the Iranians respond in a meaningful way?

For those who have doubts, think about how much effort the above enterprise will take, relative to total American military power and what Iran will look like globally after that.

Next step may be Israeli-American raids on the new clear facilities. "Defensive" of course. So I think the Iranian reaction here is over except for street demos and banner-waving. What I do hope is that the Russian-Syrian-Iranian operations go on in Syria and end the war with all of Syria back together under the Brutal Dictator Assad rather than the peaceful Kitten Sanctuary operators.
BTW, can anyone still find that map please, showing all the Kitten Sanctuaries?

A red flag unfurled above the minarets of the Jamkaran Mosque in the Shiite holy city of Qom on Saturday, a day after the killing of top general Qassem Soleimani.

Written across the flag in Arabic were the words: "Those who want to avenge the blood of Hussein."

Red flags in Shiite tradition symbolize both blood spilled unjustly and serve as a call to avenge a person who is slain.

Jamkaran is a significant mosque on the outskirts of the holy city of Qom, some 160 kilometres south of Tehran.

The slain one of karbala in whose memory muharram and ashura are held, i think. His death has been the rallying point against tyranny or so people have internalized. Plus shias have always been eager to recall tales of unjust treatment and persecution after hussain was killed; its what separates them from other strains of islam, constant wailing of oppression.

And the 1st Pinocchio Prize of the Decade goes to...
“Turkey has always been against foreign interference, assassinations and sectarian fighting in the region,” the ministry said in the statement on Friday.
Thx for the hussein explanation. I thought the main diff between the Shia, Sunni and English is this:
All KNOW that they are "entitled".
The Shia cut their own foreheads in protest.
The Sunni go kill and rape the shia and other minorities in protest.
The English make them fight and steal from all.
And then of course, we won't comment on the true masters of the persecution creed.

So Iran will at most commit soosai. From seeennenn
Parsa Seifi, a 35-year-old university lecturer, said Soleimani was "a brave soldier of Iran."
"I think Iran must retaliate by any means," Seifi told CNN. "You must take revenge when someone kills a member of your family, though it’s better to give a response through international organizations."
No matter that its suicidal and all the rest of ur family will also be killed b4 its over.

James Bond 007, citing "Old Chinese saying":
B4 u set out 4 revenge, dig 2 graves.
In the case of the British, one is to bury ur friend whom u stab in the back, the other to bury the loot from his home to retrieve later.

If I were a paki i would be shittin in my pants about how quickly the cover of religion can unravel, and things go down in religious, and all that's holy in it, fashion - like Ahmed Shah Masood or Qasim Suleimani. Americans didn't give shyt about secularism for carrying out what helps national interests.

Anujan ji, the graphic of the Iranian Speedboats chasing a US aircraft carrier doesn't prove that Iranians have an ability to sink an aircraft carrier. Just look at the size of these patrol boats. They were there because the AC let them be to be that close. Can these boats carry and deploy Torpedoes or anything that can threat an AC?

Unlike smaller corvettes, or destroyers, an AC and escort group can generate multiple orbits of rotary winged aircraft armed adequately to deal with these swarms. This besides the organic capability to destroy them using onboard systems (besides the gun). These are only those publicly known. The threat of swarming small boats has been there for quite a while (Iran itself has been broadcasting that capability in its propoganda for years) so one can rest assured that there is plenty of classified capability on the vessels operating in that vicinity to knock them out...

About torpedoes and aircraft carriers, I am not sure if Iranians are as stupid as pakees. They'll probably stick to non-conventional war, if at all they want to take revenge as shown by hoisting red flag above.

Red flag hoisting is the typical Paki style reaction, purely for posturing and sabre rattling. With social media such propaganda can be taken far and wide but at the end of the day will the action match the posturing?

First time in history means that it now runs the risks of not being taken seriously the second time if real matching actions are not performed.

Deep State rent-a-pakis using fireworks. This is the problem with these narratives. The original "oh! A US Contractor was killed!" was also a similarly incompetent attacks, not at all like something Suleimain&Co had any need to do. They are winning in Idlib. So that one was OBVIOUSLY false-flag.

The reaction to that, with 5 facilities bombed, 25+ people killed, was very over-the-top, calculated to draw Iranian retaliation. But the retaliation was meek- Just the embassy reaction - again, non-violent by ME standards. No casualties at all. But it succeeded in bringing Suleimani as spectator/choreographer and the trap was sprung.

Probably a new ISIS offensive is coming in Idlib/ Deir ez-Zor and they want the Al Qud forces in disarray. Or a direct assault on Damascus by the Flee Sillian Almy. Vodkov needs to up the S-400s and patrolling.

I had no idea! As the Douma Chemical Attacks have now been pretty thoroughly debunked by the UN Chem Weapons expert, the Chief of the White Helmets was found dead at the bottom of a TWO-Storey apt. bldg in Turkey. Turkish Polis have classified his death as suicide. Maybe he drowned in the 1 inch of water on grass when he fell?

Looks like Suleimani was killed as revenge for the assault on Idlib that has sent the US-backed terrorists scattering towards Turkey.
