darshan wrote:@chetakji, the point I'm trying to drive home was that this needs to become a hot issue for voters. Till various points that everyone's stating aren't being discussed on open channels, meaningful changes won't arrive. The present GoI may come up with half baked solutions to fix things. Voters need to pitch in and bolster the political will to fix things and not worry about the blackmail tactics utilized by PSUs.
darshan ji,

I am entirely in agreement with what most people including you are saying. No question of thinking otherwise.

having been on both sides of the PSU divide, one has witnessed at firsthand the blatant perfidy of these companies and the contempt with which they treat their customers.

Bribery and corruption is the very first arrow in their quiver. this is not usually cash based but is mostly dished out in kind for the uniformed types.

cash is used for state govt entities and their sole representatives who interact with these PSUs where the gains are very much larger and the scrutiny of vastly inflated bills is almost non existent.

we need to fix this entire organically grown, self sustaining and cancerously mushrooming "govt owned companies/entities" toxic ecosystem ASAP for any good to come from the untold countless hundreds of thousands of crores invested thus far.

These investments, which in reality are producing a completely pathetic national security based unreliable military industrial supply chain as well as, not providing the commensurate and much needed financial ROI that would justify further investments.

we have been taking the "socialist" concept a bit too far in a bid to be inclusive and we have been duped big time by the very people who have, a very long time ago, morphed from being the alleged producers of quality military goods to becoming end users of a different kind and have now become deliberate parasites on their own customers.

when a parasite like this grows unabatedly, it eventually kills off the host.

This is what the communist/naxal infested unions have, by the implicit/explicit threat of violence managed to intimidate the vested interests in managements and governments and thus cemented their clout since independence.

every joker and his uncle has a vociferously violent lobby to back them except for the aam aadmi and the hapless taxpayer who ends up paying for it all.

How's this even a fine? The fine should be all the money they earned from the crime plus cost to tax payers plus fines.

On Mumbai police going after dorkie for TRP fraud, some thoughts:

1. Imagine if say Delhi police did something similar and went after UndY, my goodness can you image the wild cries of 'fascism', 'free press muzzled' etc from the usual quarters.

2. I am also seeing that TmesNow is taking perverse pleasure at Republic TV's travails with Mumbai police

3. After the Rhea debacle that I am sure sure has embarrassed the likes of Rahul Shivshankar, are they trying to shore up their 'honest' credentials visa vi Republic

4. It will be sad if dorkie is brought down. I cannot watch minutes of his schoolboy 'debates', but he serves a useful purpose for the nationalist cause, somewhat like Fox news in US

5. This just goes to show you that the Queen madam Pappu ecosystem is alive and kicking.

Inability to view Bharat as a civilization continues with congress like day to day operations. They had to name after people that won't mean much to civilization. One may as well have left the names to be as they were to keep history of villages. Sanskrit and Hindu history are full of names to use. How about every one that died defending Somnath? One would run out of places to name.

The Barmer police have registered a case under the POCSO and IT Act and initiated an investigation in the case. The statement of the victim has been recorded by the police. paswan's inopportune departure from the scene at this very critical juncture will cause disarray in the caste based party politics of bihar and is for sure going to result in the isolation and sidelining of nitishwa and a great deal of trouble may also be brewing for lulloo's party because of the considerable sympathy votes that will move in part towards the BJP and the LJP, away from some of the traditional caste vote banks.

politically speaking, the BJP seems to be on a very good wicket which is why other parties, like the commies, naxals and the muslims are so desperately trying to muddy the waters in UP using the caste and dalit cards with the ropers doing their best to consolidate their vote banks before the bihar elections.

every party will be hoping to be the kingmaker.

From what I have read from news sources is that Yechuri is a Brahmin, who walks around as a 'casteless atheist'. Just like E.K Nayanar and E.M.S Namboodirippad from Kerala who were also 'atheists' (but with their surnames clearly indicating their forward caste status). Polit Bureau is now a joke with pretty much of it controlled by the comrades from KL. A few aged dinosaurs from West Bengal and Tripura may also come in once in a while. The joke going on is that if the commies from Kannur district, KL meets at Kannur it becomes the CPI(M) Dist. Committee meeting, if they all meet up at Trivandrum it becomes the state committee meeting and if they wear winter clothing and meet at Delhi it becomes the Polit Bureau meeting.

Om Shanti for Ram Vilas Paswan. For some reason my only impression of him is pre-NDA where he was as anti-hindu as they come. Chirag Paswan seems to be a smart guy and thinks he can become Bihar CM post Nitishwa era. So is fancying his chances by getting close to BJP but refusing to accept Nitish. I think Bihar elections will be smooth sailing for BJP-Nitish and Chirag will come empty handed. Will be useful life lesson for him.

Thank you, this did make my day (maybe even my rest-of-the-year).

May I suggest to folks that when taking on A. Truschke, there is no need to focus on intellectual rebuttal of whatever she says, just point out her ratings by her own students, and the reviews which point out that she is incompetent at teaching, ignorant of history, opinionated (and also forces those opinions on students), insensitive of other cultures, self-promoting (pushing her own books as proof of her opinions), and ever ready to play the "woman card" at any sign of disagreement. Please also note that this rating of 1.5/5 is even worse than it sounds, because it seems the minimum rating is 1, not 0. So it's on a scale of 1 to 5, not 0 to 5.

And best of all, the reviews are very recent (May 2020).

Innovative methods of tax evasion noticed: IT department on search and seizure action in Ahmedabad
https://www.deshgujarat.com/2020/10/09/ ... ahmedabad/
...
The group had around 96 companies at a few common addresses, which were being used for routing money and for land holding. Most of the companies are found to have no real business and very few returns of income have been filed. Many have not filed returns with ROC. Some directors of these concerns, other than main family members, have accepted to be dummy directors with mere signing roles.

Innovative methods of tax evasion by increasing the cost of properties through intra-group transactions, on which tax is not paid, have been noticed. Substantial evidences of transactions outside the regular books of accounts, unaccounted cash expenses, and cash advances received and interest paid in cash have been found. Evidences of on-money transactions and corresponding unaccounted investments of about Rs. 100 crore in real estate projects-flats, shops and land deals have been found.

Taps for all, but what about water supply?
https://www.thegoan.net/editorial/%EF%B ... 59899.html
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday tweeted that all rural households in Goa now have access to potable water with the State government achieving a 100% target. The chief minister has appealed to families who have their independent source of potable water to come forward if PWD piped connections are required. This announcement would bring a sigh of relief to those who had no access to piped water supply and had to travel across villages to source water.
...
Har Ghar Jal cannot be a success story by only giving tap connections. The State government can pride itself when there are stable supply lines where citizens are provided water at least for a few hours in a day. Also, these tap connections don't come free, and while the ordinary citizen is struggling, he will have another bill to pay at the end of the month. There is nothing much to cheer for the common man yet.

Rajasthan: Temple Priest Dies After Being Set Ablaze By Land Mafia For Resisting Encroachment

As per reports, the 50-year-old priest was trying to build a house on a land given by the community in the temple's name. The land mafia though wanted to encroach upon this land and in a scuffle six individuals poured petrol and kerosene on the priest and set him ablaze which led to him suffering over 50 per cent burn injuries.

As per an ANI report, the main accused in the matter Kailash Meena has been arrested by the cops. The report claims that Meena wanted to grab the land which fell inside the temple premises and on Thursday (8 October) started building a tent. It claims that after objections by the priest the mafia set the tent on fire, whose flames also eongulfed the priest.

her kind of security is discreet, unobtrusive and efficient and she doesn't flaunt it unlike eyetalians bunty and babli of the alleged LTTE threat fame. Traffic is not blocked for hours on end when ever she travels
