Sanskrit Fifth Most Used Language In Rajya Sabha In 2019-20; Use Of Regional Languages Rises In The Upper House
The Rajya Sabha secretariat's data has revealed that Sanskrit was the fifth most used language during the Upper House’s proceedings held during 2019-20 with Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and Tamil being the first four most used languages respectively, reports Hindustan Times.

The secretariat’s data has also revealed that the use of regional languages in the Rajya Sabha increased by five times per sitting in the year 2020 compared to the 14-year-long period between 2004-17.

Also, between 2018 and 2020, four languages - Dogri, Kashmiri, Konkani and Santhali - were used in the Rajya Sabha for the first time. Also, during this span, another six languages - Assamese, Bodo, Gujarati, Maithili, Manipuri and Nepali - were used after a long gap.

It should be noted that Rajya Sabha’s Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu regularly urges the Upper House’s members to speak in their mother tongue in the spirit of the federal nature of the House.

Interestingly, back in July 2018, while announcing the availability of simultaneous interpretation facilities in all the 22 scheduled languages, Naidu had himself spoken in 10 languages in the House.

Mumbai Police and its city crime branch made the 15th arrest in the fake TRP scandal that had broken out earlier this year. Days after they arrested BARC COO Romil Ramgarhia, they arrested Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC)’s former CEO Partho Dasgupta on the 25th of December 2020.

According to the police, Dasgupta has been arrested from Pune Rural which is under the jurisdiction of Raigad police station. While he was lodged in Taloja jail, the Mumbai Police held another press conference where they alleged that Partho Dasgupta had taken money from Arnab Goswami to rig TRP in the favour of Republic TV. The police had claimed that they found a watch, some silver jewellery and claimed that Arnab Goswami had given him roughly Rs 30 lacs.

Today, the daughter of the former BARC CEO took to Twitter to appeal to the Prime Minister to save her father’s life, who is lodged in Taloja jail. Pratyusha Dasgupta, the daughter of former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta, has appealed to Prime Minister Modi to save her father’s life. She said that Mr. Dasgupta was admitted to the hospital on the 15th of January in an unconscious state. He is currently in judicial custody over the TRP scam. She said that she got a call at 3:00 AM and immediately, they rushed to JJ Hospital.

Pratyusha and her mother found Mr. Dasgupta lying in the emergency room with not even a bed-sheet covering him. There, he was incoherent and unable to express himself properly. His blood sugar levels had shot to alarming levels, 516 to be precise, she said. She adds that Mr. Dasgupta suffers “from a number of serious ailments for many years, including diabetes, hypertension, and ankylosing spondylitis, an auto immune disorder.”

She concludes her message to Prime Minister Modi saying, “My plea to you, sir, is to please save my father’s life by allowing proper medical treatment in a reputed hospital at our expense. Without intervention at the highest levels, I am now fearful for his life.”

The Nidhi Razdan Harvard fiasco took a major turn yesterday after the former NDTV anchor penned a blog detailing how she fell for the phishing attack. Her blog provided some answers to questions that have been coming up but in the process, raises many more questions. And now, we have more reports related to Harvard University that only intensify the shroud of mystery surrounding the whole affair.

As early as April 2020, the Harvard University had announced that they were implementing an immediate freeze on hiring and salary. The decision was taken in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is pertinent to note that Nidhi Razdan had announced that she was joining the University as an associate professor in June 2020.

The Harvard Crimson, the daily student newspaper of the University, said that Harvard was “instituting an immediate university-wide salary and hiring freeze, cancelling or deferring discretionary spending, and considering deferring all capital projects.”

“While many decisions and choices will come into sharper focus in the future, it is already clear that we need to take some actions immediately to align our spending with the decline in our revenue,” a joint email from President Lawrence Bacow, Executive Vice President Katherine Lapp and Provost Alan Garber had said.

“Harvard, like other universities around the world, will not be spared the economic consequences of the pandemic,” they said.

The email had said, “Our major sources of revenue — tuition, the endowment, executive and continuing education, philanthropy, and research support — are threatened, and we expect to see increased demand for financial aid as the economic fallout from the pandemic hits family budgets.”

University officials had also floated the possibility of layoffs and furloughs. They said, “We’re still working to gain a more complete picture of the financial conditions of the university.”

“We will be scrutinizing the FY21 budget to determine what other steps are necessary to respond to the financial impact of the pandemic on our operations. We will communicate with you when more information is available,” the Harvard Crimson quoted them as saying.

Try to fit that with the TL of Nidhi getting an ass. prof. at Harvard (art 370) and dumping of Nidhi (elections were held Dec 24, 2020), the charade was run too long by the Culinary Institute on behalf of US SD and the dumping of Nidhi. The TL fits to a tee. The culinary institute might have given her "prof." for extension courses and allowed Nidhi to run the charade of claiming as full "ass. prof" of Harvard. Now that has fallen through, the only option for Nidhi is to claim "phishing".

Of course, use this to bring down rNDTV and mediapimps. But remember, they have thick skins. And they do not care about you. Their game is different. In case of Nidhi Razdan, the game and she is now exposed.

Gandhinagar: India’s first Lithium refinery to process imported Lithium ore to produce battery-grade material will be set up in Gujarat by Manikaram Power Ltd with investment of Rs. 1,000 crore, possibly in Sanand or Dholera, reports Indian Express. The company has pact with Australia based Neometals for access to Mount Marion Lithium mine in Western Australia. In Gujarat, Toshiba Corporation, DENSO Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation JV plant of Lithium battery is likely to be operational in the first quarter of this year. Tata and Adani are also likely to set up Lithium battery plant in the State.

This could have been set up in Panjab. I believe there is enough surplus electricity to run this. Of course there would be transport costs to send the ore inland.

But we know why there won't be such industry there, It would mean employment of engineers, training of technical manpower, large corporate houses and their power of patronage. No, Panjab will never empower Hindus, non-Jat Sikhs and also Jat Sikhs who don't own land. What better way to keep political power within the caste? It is a miserable mafia of self-interest. The future of India lies elsewhere. If I were in Panjab I definitely would be voting with my feet.
