Qureshi, Turkish FM discuss ways to mobilise global community to stop Israeli aggression
Dawn.com, Naveed Siddiqui, May 18, 2021
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Tuesday that Pakistan was establishing contacts with different countries in a bid to pressure Israel to stop attacks on Gaza which have been continuing since May 10.
The foreign minister is currently on a diplomatic mission to Turkey to bring the international community's attention to the worsening situation in Palestine. After meeting his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara, Qureshi said: "Nothing can shake our resolve as we stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Palestine in their legitimate right to self-determination & establishment of independent state with pre-1967 borders & Al Quds Al Shareef as capital." During the meeting, the two foreign ministers discussed ways to mobilise the international community to help stop Israeli aggression against the Palestinians, a Foreign Office statement said. "It was reaffirmed that the international community had a collective responsibility in ensuring necessary steps to help address the dire situation, restore peace, and facilitate a just solution," it added.
Qureshi apprised the Turkish foreign minister of the sentiment prevailing in Pakistan in support of the Palestinian people including the resolution unanimously adopted by the National Assembly. While taking stock of the bilateral relations between the two countries, the two sides discussed the ongoing preparations for the 7th Session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) that will be held in Turkey this year.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Qureshi had addressed a meeting of the OIC Executive Committee convened by his Saudi counterpart on Sunday to discuss the situation in Palestine.

US approves release of oldest Guantanamo prisoner — a 73-year-old man from Pakistan
A 73-year-old from Pakistan who is the oldest prisoner at the Guantanamo Bay detention centre was notified on Monday that he has been approved for release after more than 16 years in custody at the US base in Cuba, his lawyer said.
It does not mean his release is imminent. But it is a crucial step before the US government negotiates a repatriation agreement with Pakistan for his return.
Paracha, who lived in the US and owned property in New York City, was a wealthy businessman in Pakistan.

Isnt this the same Moeed Yusuf who is a toothless, powerless dud ?Imran Khan Appoints Moeed Yusuf as Pakistan's New NSA amid Ceasefire Agreement with India
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed his Special Assistant on National Security Moeed Yusuf as the country's National Security Adviser (NSA). Yusuf's elevation comes in the backdrop of the reported backchannel communication with India early this year, resulting in the restoration of the 2003 ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control in February.
A notification dated May 17 was issued by the Cabinet Division to appoint Yusuf as the NSA. "The Prime Minister has been pleased to approve that Dr Moeed W Yusuf, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security and Strategic Policy Planning, shall function as National Security Adviser with the status of Federal Minister, with immediate effect, the notification read.

That’s a good metaphor for Pakistan itself and the state of mind of its denizens.
Re: Terroristan - April 15, 2021
How does one even write a script for such live comedy
A bomb blast killed at least six people and injured 14 more at a pro-Palestinian rally in southwest Pakistan’s Balochistan province Friday, local government officials said.
A regional police chief in Balochistan named Jafar Khan told Reuters by telephone on May 21 that a “motorcycle bomb,” presumably an improvised explosive device (IED) placed on a motorbike, “exploded as people dispersed at the end of the rally.” The demonstration took place on May 21 in the city of Chaman near Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan. The organizer of the event, Maulana Abdul Qadir Luni, was among the people wounded in the explosion, according to Khan.
Luni is a Pakistani Muslim cleric and leader of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Nazryati (JUI-N), a faction of the Pakistani political party Jamiat Ulema-e Islam Pakistan (JUI). JUI is an extremist Sunni Muslim political party based in Balochistan with a history of supporting Afghan Taliban terrorists and Sharia law in Pakistan. The Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported in December 2020 that Luni had recently met with four newly expelled members of JUI who were planning to start their own JUI faction. Luni publicly criticized JUI president Maulana Fazlur Rehman at a press conference in Islamabad on December 27, 2020, shortly after meeting with the recently expelled JUI members.
Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani confirmed the explosion in the city of Chaman on Friday, telling Dawn that ten of the injured people were sent to a local hospital for treatment, while the rest were transferred to a hospital in the provincial capital, Quetta. Shahwani revealed that another JUI-N leader named Qari Mehrullah was also in attendance at the rally at the time of the explosion. He claimed that both Qari Mehrullah and Maulana Abdul Qadir Luni were “unharmed,” however, contradicting the account given by regional police chief Jafar Khan to Reuters, who said that Luni was wounded in the blast.
Shahwani referred to Friday’s demonstration as a “Palestinian solidarity rally” and condemned its bombing, saying terrorists wanted to “destroy Balochistan’s peace,” according to Dawn.
“The enemies of solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians are on the side of Israeli aggression,” he said.
Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani also released a press statement condemning the attack.
“Terrorist elements do not deserve any leniency. No one will be allowed to disturb the law and order of the province,” his statement read.
Thursday’s attack comes one month after a car bomb exploded at a hotel in Quetta on April 21 killing four people and wounding at least 11 more. The hotel was hosting the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan at the time, but he was away from the hotel when the bomb exploded. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack on April 22.

They do but in case of PTI ministers PTI has a full fauj of social media workers to support their actions. ISI and ISPR has its own parallel social media cells and youtubers on payroll for propaganda. You will see tens of social media videos ito divert attention or clarifications or blame game to victimhood in few hours when establishment is caught with its pants down. Or to maintains the establishments narrative.AshishA wrote: The best part is that Pakistanis are commenting on YouTube in that video that the anchor got destroyed by qureshi. The larger the social media army the bigger the echo chamber. This works in case of China because China has some economical fundamentals and strategy they are trying to defend and protect. In case of Pakistan the social media army is defending individuals in name of the nation and those individual are busy grabbing pizza franchises in America or housing societies in Pakistan. Corner plots are now things of past.
Re: Terroristan - April 15, 2021
In the latest scandal in Pakistan exposed by Im the dim himself bunch of politicians and bureaucrats colluded to change the alignment of ring road in Islamabad, and extended it by many KMs to benefit landholders. Turns out that a lot of jernails are involved too. The jernails from establishment division asked the local development authority for the confidential planned map before it was released (for national security of course ) and bought land cheap for themselves ahead of time. Jernails like Bajwa has set examples for other Jernails. Bar is high and corner plots are now things of past.

Twitterverse is buzzing with the rumor that Pakistan has offered bases for counter terror ops in Afghanistan.
New US administration. New opportunities for GUBO and Baksheesh and throwing sand over Massa's eyes and bilk a few dollars on empty promises....The national security advisors (NSAs) of Pakistan and the United States met in Geneva on Sunday in a first high-level face-to-face contact since the Biden administration took charge.
The meeting between Pakistani NSA Dr Moeed Yusuf and his US counterpart Jake Sullivan is being seen as significant against the backdrop of the current Afghan situation, that observers believe will determine the future of Pak-US cooperation.
The two sides are tight-lipped over the meeting and there has been no explanation as yet on why they opted for a third country for the meeting.
