I hope that’s not too pedantic.
Re: Indian Interests_2
Vepa exists in Tamil as well.
Vepa-maram: Neem tree
Vepa ilai: Neem leaf
Karu-vepa-ilai: Curry leaf / kadhi paththa (literal translation would be "dark neem(-like) leaf")
Karu: Dark
Kari: Meat and meat based dish (which became curry of the British)
Some similarities in Kannada as well. The state name Karnataka is derived from "karu-nadu", which means "the country of dark (black) soil". This kind of soil is found in large parts of central and northern KA and is conducive for cotton and oilseed production.
No islamic influence here whatsoever.

How katju converted One month Visa to pakistanis in five years visa
TWITTER
@RakeshSimha:
How Markandeya Katju compromised India's security
When Katju was a judge at Allahabad HC (91-04), he entertained a large number of petitions by Pakistani citizens who had come to India on one-month visas and did not want to go back. Govt of India rightly wanted to deport them.
These Pakistanis brazenly challenged India's deportation order. In each case, Katju would pass a stay order staying their deportation "till further orders". Since there are 10 lakh cases in HC, a case which had been heard once would usually be listed again after several years.
This is a High Court judge boasting how he twisted Indian law. Not only does he come across as a law breaker, he fails to see the irony of a judge crowing about the lethargy and failure of the Indian judicial system. 10 lakh pending cases and he wears it like a badge of honor.
Katju says: "So the result of my stay orders was that in effect by a judicial order I converted a one month visa into a 5 year one or so (because the case would come up again after 5 years or so, and till then the stay order would continue).

Re: Indian Interests_2
This is happening because Indian judges are delivering judgements based on their personal opinion, belief and ideology, and not on the facts of the case put before them by the litigants. Katju should have restricted his judgment only to whether the deportation order of Pakis is in accordance with the letters of the law passed by the legislature. Either yes or no. That is all. Whether he personally recognizes Partition or no is immaterial to the facts of the case. But the man just kept giving orders based on his personal (deranged) view of history, even though the deportation order was perfectly in tune with the existing law. This is deliberately over-ruling the will of the people as expressed by laws passed by the majority in Parliament. This should call for impeachment. Why did he do this? "I do not recognise Partition, which was a historical swindle by the British on the basis of the bogus two nation theory, to keep Hindus and Muslims fighting each other, and thereby keep India, of which Pakistan is really a part, weak and backward."
The entire corpus of court orders in India is just a vast collection of personal opinion of judges. That is why one judge will come and give a particular judgement. Some other judge will come and give a totally opposite verdict based on the same situation and evidence.
Parliament needs to tighten screws.

1. This is the condition of the Punjab mansion of Hindu businessman Todar Mal who paid 7,800 gold coins and bought 4 yards of land from the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb to bury the bodies of the 2 young sons and mother of Guru Gobind Singh on December 13, 1705.
2. The Mughal faujdar Wazir Khan had ordered the two young children be bricked alive as they refused to accept Islam. When they died, their grandmother died of shock.
3. The Mughals did not want to allow the cremation to humiliate the martyrs. They therefore stipulated that the buyer can take only as much space as he could cover with gold coins. All the Sikh chiefs just stood helplessly.
4. That's when Todar Mal produced the coins and bought the piece of land, and cremated the three bodies. The total cost of those 7,800 gold coins in today's value is approximately Rs 180 crore.

Re: Indian Interests_2
The IOR is India's backyard -- this QuadPlus Horsep00p is to reduce India's agency in its own backyard. These factors, coupled with national security interests and internal
developments, have allowed India to enhance its presence, both on land and sea,
in its strategic neighborhood as well as the world. About 95 percent of India’s
total trade by volume and over 65 percent in terms of value is transported via the
sea; hence, the maritime zone is a strategic priority.
The first article plays up Trump's overtures but fails to spell out Biden's reversal of Trump's policies.
Just because there is some convergence does not mean India is embracing washington's world view - I mean we can see the US's worldview of India in the US media everyday. Much of the first article is smarmy BS trying to pretend that USA and India are moving to being strategic partners...we all saw how strategic this partnership was during the recent climate change vote, where the US actively worked to screw India economically by making climate change a "security" factor. There is convergence in the IOR seeing as to how India operates US drones in the IOR under COMCASA but not w.r.t. Indian interests in Central Asia -- USA is no longer a factor there anyway.. The Trump administra-
tion, in its 2017 National Security Strategy, while putting “America First,” named
India “a leading global power and stronger strategic and defense partner.”35 Prime
Minister Narendra Modi, too, had highlighted in his address before the US Con-
gress in 2016 that “a strong India- U.S. partnership can anchor peace, prosperity
and stability from Asia to Africa and from Indian Ocean to the Pacific.”36
Connectivity promotion and infrastructure diplomacy have emerged as key fea-
tures of India’s neighborhood diplomacy. Making use of its strategic location, India
is currently expanding its tactical wings through its Act East Policy, Link West
Policy, and SAGAR program. India’s acceptance and endorsement of the Quad
Plus narrative also points to New Delhi’s growing embrace of Washington’s world-
view and policy overtures.
How nice. India gets to hand over its agency to make independent decisions in the IOR so this "BDN" can dictate what India can to do defend itself. Rules-based order does not work for India esp. with the US -- we all see how "rules based order" can screw India in the UN. No reason to pretend this will be different, India went from QUAD, QUAD but only for COVID vaccines, to QUADPlus for COVID vaccines and rules-based order where India is the "plus" in QuadPlus.Sharing the common aim to defend the liberal world
order, the Quad has found new like- minded partners in South Korea, New Zea -
land, and Vietnam—all strongly connected to China economically and with large-
scale infrastructural needs of their own.The BDN, too, has the same primary policy
ambit of free and rules- based world order. Thus, if India decides to join the net -
work, it will pave the way for a Quad Plus inclusion, as a growing synergy between
the nations seems to be actualizing amid the COVID-19 pandemic. India’s deci -
sion to join will hold important significance in maintaining status security for the
United States, promote India’s own net- security provider role as an Indo- Pacific
power, and check China’s rise as a revisionist power. In this regard, BDN is critical
to the US Indo-Pacific strategy vis-à-vis China and the BRI.
There seems to be concerted effort in the US to play up the India-China Galwan conflict with the Claim that the US will improve India's security is a positive way -- past experience with the US suggests nothing of the sort.

I think a big mistake was done by MP-IDSA. Discussions have to be under Chatham Rules. From now on no visiting dignitary will speak their mind in India.
Speaking at an interactive session at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA) on Friday during his visit to India, the German Navy Chief said Crimean peninsula which was annexed by Russia from Ukraine is “gone” and “not coming back”.
He also questioned if Russia really wants to attack Ukraine. “Does Russia really want a small and tiny strip of Ukraine soil to integrate into their country? No, this is nonsense. Putin is probably putting pressure because can do it and he splits EU opinion. What he really wants is respect,” he said.
Further he stated: “He (Putin) wants high-level respect and my God giving some respect is low cost, even no cost. If I was asked, it is easy to give him the respect he really demands and probably also deserves. Russia is an old country, Russia is an important country. Even we India, Germany, need Russia. we need Russia against China…”
In the same context he added, "I am a very radical Roman Catholic. I’m believing in God and I believe in Christianity and there we have a Christian country even Putin, he’s an atheist but it doesn't matter. Having this big country on our side...”
Earlier in the day on Saturday, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said it summoned German Ambassador Anka Feldhusen in Kiev to stress “the categorical unacceptability” of his comments.
German Ministry of Defence in Berlin distanced itself from his comments stating that Navy chief’s statement in “no way correspond to the position of the [German government] in terms of content and choice of words.” He was also given the opportunity to make a statement to the Inspector General of the German military, according to Germany’s Bild newspaper.
Later, Vice Adm Schoenbach backtracked from his comments in a post on Twitter saying “it was clearly a mistake.” “My defence policy remarks during a talk session at a think tank in India reflected my personal opinion in that moment. They in no way reflect the official position of the defence ministry,” he said in another tweet.
Raising the issue on social media, Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Ukraine is grateful to Germany for the support it has already provided since 2014, as well as for the diplomatic efforts to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict. “But Germany’s current statements are disappointing and run counter to that support and effort,” he said on Twitter.
He further added: “The German partners must stop undermining unity with such words and actions and encouraging [Russian President] Vladimir Putin to launch a new attack on Ukraine.”In addition to the comments, in a reference to reports that Germany had blocked Estonia from sending German-made weapons to Ukraine, Mr. Kuleba added, “Germany’s recent statements about the impossibility of transferring defence weapons to Ukraine, particular due to permission to third parties, the futility of returning Crimea, hesitations to disconnect Russia from SWIFT - do not correspond to the level of our relations and the current security situation.”
Vice Adm Schoenbach’s comments came at a time when the new German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is trying to play a critical role on dialling down tensions over the Russian buildup along the border with Ukraine, and the decision by the U.S. and some NATO members to bolster arms and ammunition supplies to the Ukrainian army to counter any possible Russian invasion.
I think a big mistake was done by MP-IDSA. Discussions have to be under Chatham Rules. From now on no visiting dignitary will speak their mind in India.
Re: Indian Interests_2
Since then the German Vice Admiral had to resign. Wish India could give him a think tank post in Delhi for a year or two and benefit from his insights.
Re: Indian Interests_2
Turns out the Germans recorded and released the video remarks.
Interesting Game of Thrones.
Interesting Game of Thrones.
Re: Indian Interests_2
This is very interesting indeed. I watched the whole program and somewhere in it the Admiral says something like "between you and me", so I think the general didn't expect this to be publicized on youtube. OTOH, I don't think IDSA felt this was a major or earth-shaking revelation either, just a stated position from the German PoV.

Mountbatten 1964-1979 after Neru
What comes out is Lor Mountbatten was a fairly useless person and quite vain and foolish. His appointments were due to his Royal Family connections in WWII, Viceroy, First Sea Lord, and CDS.
It begs the question of why he was appointed the Viceroy during the transfer of power?

Some nascent lessons from Russia-NATO conflict.
1) Anything can be weaponed. From financial protocols like SWIFT to civilian airspace.
2) Lectures on human rights, freedom of speech etc. are pure geopolitical tool.
3) Private companies (like Google) will take political sides.
4) War is responded to by methods of war.
5) Self-sufficiency in arms manufacturing alone is no guarantee for strategic autonomy.
6) Need tech, financial & narrative self-sufficiency.
7) White racism still informs West policy.
Entire Latin America, Africa, Asia & Australia is uninvolved in the war. Yet it feels like "our war?" Power of agenda dominance.
9) International rules can always be re-written.
10) Aatmnirbhar Bharat is only way forward.

The reason is the US's loss of military power and wanting to involve India in the European mess.
Be wary of those who propose military cuts under the guise of modernization.

A new "Tournament of Shadows" is going on.
This time between the US and India.
Every move India makes US is making a countermove!
India signs FTA with Australia, USA chases with FTA with ASEAN.
ASEAN is mostly rebranded Chinese goods!
Indian left media is discredited, US switches on Republic and ZeeTV to support Ukraine.
Judiciary activated to grant travel ban waivers to usual suspects.
It's like the US thinks India is an enemy, not a distant ally.
Unlike last time, the US is also playing inside India and has willing collaborators.
The race is for the US empire in the world, not just Central Asia.
Note the 58 absentatioms in UN vote on human rights.
Biden Admin ignore China and Russia to target India.
This defies logic of strategy.
What are we missing?
Is it just bullying an India that won't say no?

Re: Indian Interests_2
The number of internet users in India is now twice the number in the USA. China is firewalled from the world. If its a battle of ideas, all sides will make their points.
Re: Indian Interests_2
India's Internet largely depends on DNS root servers that are all outside India. As is the case with Russia, China and most other countries. So if US wants to they can cut us off from global Internet, stop google search & services, and SM services. (wonder why they haven't tried this on Russia yet!)
A lot of data on Indian citizen is hosted in the cloud, which are based on cloud hosting services that are outside India.
If Huawei telecom equipment can have back doors why do we assume Motorola or others used in Indian telecom and military comm networks land line and mobile dont?
Given the huge number of mobile users, digital payments with ruPay, dependence on e-governance and the large domestic and export tech economy, India's interest lies in securing its cyber environment as comprehensively and seriously as its physical borders. Dunno if anyone in Niti Ayog or elsewhere are paying any serious attention to this.
If anyone in the know can share more details that would help.

They don't want to alienate the people of the country they wish to enslave... they just want to do regime change - remove the guy at the top and place their own puppet in his place - preferably without Putin your own troops in danger.Cyrano wrote:India's Internet largely depends on DNS root servers that are all outside India. Not alienate and enslave in the same sentence - only state dept is capable of such a feat !

The behavior of USA tells us that they consider Russia and China as equals, not us. India is being treated like a promising kid being raised by insecure parents, who keep scolding and admonishing the kid to keep him/her subjugated.ramana wrote:A new "Tournament of Shadows" is going on.

The west behaves with us because we behave with our people similarly. They study our society and play on our fault lines and weaknesses. Our diaspora abroad which mingles with them teaches them a lot about our society.
To fix this we would require a complete overhaul in the way our system works, starting from politicians to bureaucrats down to the individual families. The congressi behavior template has to be eradicated from our society.

PMs since PVNR knew the need to grow the economy.
Once India reaches $10T and surpasses EU stalwarts things will fall into place.
US is most familiar with China having enabled PRC to emerge by stopping aid to KMT.
I still think the 1971 Kissinger trip had old deep connections with Pakis as a cover.

Re: Indian Interests_2
The US did not consider China as equal till recently. It does not consider Germany, Japan, and France, all former world powers, as equal. Even the UK, the most faithful ally, one with a special relationship and common language, is not considered by far as an equal. Among the NATO countries, only France is allowed to have a superficially independent policy. For all important issues, France toes the line. Russia and China are considered as potential enemies and treated with caution and suspicion. If India reaches a $10T economy soon, it will also be treated with equal caution and suspicion. In the US way of thinking there are no equals. Either you are an ally, under subjugation, or you are the enemy to be conquered if the opportunity arises. In both cases, the US is always ready to exploit weaknesses.SinghS wrote: The behavior of USA tells us that they consider Russia and China as equals, not us. I remember two quotes of P.V. Narasimha Rao. One is the action in inaction bit. The other is that in the coming conflict between the US and China, India will be influenced by the knowledge of English language and democracy and be tempted to side with the US. But, India should stay neutral. Unfortunately, after Doklam we are not left with much of a choice. But still, India is not an ally and is able to maintain a separateness in its policy. This is irking to the US mandarins. Lastly, US has been sending Indian origin US citizens to India to enforce its policy. Remember Richard Verma? This is often successfully done with China, where language and culture is a barrier to understand the natives. This is not the case for India which is transparent due to its democracy, and does not need an interpreter.

Re: Indian Interests_2
Gautamji, the bit about sending Indian origin people to try to influence Indian power corridors will not work anymore. Previously, India was perfectly willing to let all snide remarks by 2-bit players in US pass without reacting while being enraptured by the vacuous praises as a "Democratic ally and partner with shared values ithyaadhi". But, now even the mango man reacts with suspicion and sarcasm at these senile tactics. This reaction is what is confusing for the US DOS and people in general - this is a long phase which will be useful to shape the thinking in US (after all old habits die hard - there were some interesting signs especially when Shri Lloyd Austin said not always was US willing and able to support India's defense needs, still more needs to change before we can think about partnering even on a transactional basis).

AMIT SHAH THE MOST EFFECTIVE HOME MINISTER....Read on
Why Amit Shah should Resign?
Long before you started articulating in TV, Amit Shah was eradicating communal weeds in Gujarat. Understand State n Central politics first.
Last 2 days popcorn and Utube
jokers are saying Amit Shah is weakest HM and should go
But let me tell you about this brilliant chanakya mind which i am sure 99% don't know as these things are not spoken about
You all know Modi was against 370 even before he entered active politics
You must have read my post since 2014 when i use to say that 370 will go just after 2019 election not before against what Harvard Swami misleads
Let's not go before 2014. Let's start from 2014
The problem was 370 but when you define the problem you figure out that it has few
problem creator stakeholders. Srinagar gang funded by ISI, ISI, its franchise in India Congress, the seculars, 57 Muslim nation at OIC and the US
So in 2014 MJ Akbar came in as MoS EAM. He was tasked to go ground work in Middle east, the 57 islamic nations.
He penetrated everyone resulting Sushma Swaraj addressing OIC as first ever female and from India. The OIC was cracked and personal business goodwill was built. While DeMo breaks Pakistan backbone. Pak was pushed in FATF, to break its ISI jaws
While Sushma Ji and MJ were busy in middle east, here Rajnath was HM. he worked very softly in public but broke FCRA NGO backbone. He build Modi Govt image as pro minorities. None gave opportunity to media to claim Hindu bias in action
So this ran till 2019. The stage was built for action. The foundation was laid
Post 2019 election, Amit Shah, the quiet but ruthless chanakya took over HM
As soon as he sat on his chair, He pulled out strategy to abrogate 370/35A. He knew all external enemies are eliminated. The only challenge was Parliament where BJP had majority in Lok Sabha but Rajya Sabha was a huge challenge as it was in Congress hand
He did his homework very quietly and secretly without even his office fully knowing about it. Hope you remember my post where i use to say "let's buy some property in Kashmir"
Amit Shah challenge and bottleneck was Rajya Sabha. He knew it well that if it didn't pass through RS, the whole idea need to go in cold freeze for next 5/10 years
So 2 months before he picked 45/50 first time MPs and prepared their overseas trip to Netherlands to study water
management for India's development and management of water resources. The MPs were very happy because for most of them even coming to delhi was first time now they going abroad
Some MP asked him why in this delegation there is no MP from BJP. To which Amit Shah said "You won election as opposition but we all are one for nation. This is what Modi ji means by sab ka saath, sab ka vikas"
Anyway the MP prepared for first ever overseas trip and left. Amit Shah still didn't opened his cards
On the D Day he planned to go in Parliament to abrogate 370/35A, he ensured and selected a day when there is no flight from Netherlands. On D Day, in place of going to Lok Sabha first, he went to Rajya Sabha. He didn't list it as business in advance. Hope you remember i gave you date when Kashmir will be free He went to Rajya Sabha and tabled the bill. Congress was happy that it will fall but when they looked back 45/50 MP were not present but BJP had full attendance
Amit Shah abrogated 370/35A and it was passed in Rajya Sabha. Thanks to MP roaming in Netherlands. He crafted the whole strategy within framework of constitution and ensured it can't be challenged in Supreme Court before constitutional bench
In next few hours, he presented it in Lok Sabha and their he had enough strength
The congress was shocked, seculars were shocked,
Pakistan and ISI were shocked, external stakeholders MJ and Sushma ji already fixed
......and Kashmir falls back fully in India basket forever
This is how Amit Shah works who comes from a tough journey in Gujarat as HM Gujarat. His actions doesn't shout from roof but by the time u realize, it's done and dusted. He hunt like a tiger with no disturbance
.......and some popcorns want him to resign because he is a weak HM
That's how Team Modi works
This is the inside story of 370/35A no intellectual talks about or even analyse
Now you understand deep meaning of "SAB KA SAATH, SAB KA VIKAS"?

India as attained the pole position as a country under pressure on all fronts

- some states in deeper economic malaise than SL due to freebie culture and write offs for votes. the rest of states have to carry burden for these basket cases
- demographic bulge without means to absorb them
- flight of top talent
2/3
- very vulnerable to western sanctions at all levels starting with seizure of gold reserve held abroad
- Govt unable to control govt servants, judicial overactivism, media ... almost everything is "off the tram rails"
- dysfunctional courts with no hope of economic justice
3/3
thankless job to rule such a country, those who think its their birth right to rule are smartly sitting it out and fanning flames without accepting the weight of responsibility...but will pounce if & when govt is able to get the train back on rails ...for another round of looting

Please discuss this insightful post.We got independence 75 years ago, but Swaraj has started coming on fairly recently. Our governance, laws and systems have largely remained the controlling and exploitative type the colonising British designed them to be. Our contribution was, instead of running the system to serve the island and its queen, we ran it to serve the politicians and the babudom.
If Indian Government at the Center and State level gets relatively corruption-free and stop being obstacles, Indian people will blossom into their full potential. Just see the huge change in the past 7/8 years a scam-free, pro-India, pro entrepreneur Govt at the center has unleashed. If we stay that course and BJP (and hopefully other party) ruled states also get relatively corruption-free and business-friendly, our people will do the rest.
Re: Indian Interests_2
Very true statement. IMHO a simple example of this is PM Modi's removal of the practice of getting copies of forms attested by so called Gazetted officers and replace it with self attestation. This one act IMHO conveyed the fact that the government trusts the aam aadmi and does not need a certificate of his honesty from a so called gazetted officer.ramana wrote:Cyrano wrote in Uk thread
