Re: Understanding the US - Again
^^^I think you need to understand what is mandatory spending and discretionary spending. The US government has obligations to pay before any discretionary spending. Threatening SS is very illegal and Yellin needs to resign.
You continue to raise straw man arguments that are debunked by data or what transpired. We have 3 more budgets under Xiden that are going to be eaten by interest payments. Any tax increase is gone particularly given the House and Senate will flip. FY2021 brought in $4.05T and we shall see what happens as the Trump V shaped recovery get attenuated by bad policy.

^^^The audio was worse when Xiden put his hands on Obama's shoulder and kept calling him saying "Barack..Barack" only to be willfully ignored. After November, the party is going to dump him and Harris. He will make announcement similar to LBJ in 1968, saying "I shall not accept the nomination of my party for your president...".

Gives us a broader understanding about how institutions in the United States treat its elderly citizens. Even the President of the country.vimal wrote:This video is heavily edited but for the first time I felt bad for Biden! He's the fall guy

Even in the Democratic Party, which claims to be standing up for social justice, diversity, inclusivity... "concern" for the welfare of Biracial Transgender Autistic MusIim Illegal Immigrants will be trumpeted from the rooftops as a number one priority, as long as they are millennials with many election cycles left in their lifetime. But an old man or woman is ignominiously kicked to the curb regardless of status or background.

Re: Understanding the US - Again
Even VP Harris ignored President Biden. She might actually become the president sooner than this November. Speaker Pelosi was ignored as well. She was escorted off the stage by a military officer.Mort Walker wrote:^^^The audio was worse when Xiden put his hands on Obama's shoulder and kept calling him saying "Barack..Barack" only to be willfully ignored. Re: Understanding the US - Again
What is interesting is that both Pelosi and Biden were kept out of the inner circle centered around Obama. Another striking visual is how young all the Ukr parliamentarians and other leaders are. Trudeau and Macron are quite young compared to leaders of the UK, Germany (Merkel), China, India, and Japan. The new set would not stop at anything to gain power. Trump and Hillary Clinton are passe. AOC, Omar, and the rest of the squad are in. Same in KSA.Rudradev wrote:But an old man or woman is ignominiously kicked to the curb regardless of status or background.

Secret Service agents assigned to Biden, Harris suspended amid bribery investigation
Four U.S. Secret Service agents — including members of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris's protective details — have been suspended after two men charged with impersonating federal officers allegedly bribed the agents with expensive gifts such as an assault rifle and free apartments.
Arian Taherzadeh, 40, and Haider Ali, 35, both U.S. citizens, were arrested on Wednesday after the FBI raided a luxury Washington, D.C., apartment building where the two had been staying. The pair, according to federal officials, claimed they worked for the Department of Homeland Security on a task force to investigate gangs and violence connected to the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
On Friday, federal prosecutors argued Taherzadeh and Ali had “compromised” agents of the Secret Service who were assigned to top security missions and accused them of trying to “ingratiate themselves” with agents of federal agencies.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Rothstein claimed in court this week that Ali told witnesses he had ties to the Pakistani agency Inter-Services Intelligence. Ali allegedly had obtained three visas from Pakistan and two from Iran in the months leading up to the alleged scheme, and prosecutors believe he took several trips to the Middle East.
Prosecutors say this is a photo of Arian Taherzadeh taken in his Washington, D.C., apartment. (Department of Justice)
"Until this claim can be further investigated, and given the nature of Ali’s conduct, specifically impersonating federal law enforcement in order to ingratiate himself with and infiltrate networks of federal law enforcement officers and other federal employees, his claim must be taken literally and seriously," prosecutors wrote in a Friday court filing.
Taherzadeh started to delete electronic evidence once he learned the FBI was investigating him, officials said. Rothstein said he deleted social media posts, which he confessed knew would be used against him.
On Wednesday, the FBI searched five residences in the building where the suspects resided as well as three vehicles. They found body armor, gas masks, zip ties, handcuffs, equipment to break through doors, drones, radios and police training manuals, Rothstein said.
The alleged plot started in February 2020 and began to unravel in March 2022 when the U.S. Postal Inspection Service started to investigate an assault on a mail carrier at the luxury apartment building in D.C. It was during this investigation that Taherzadeh and Ali claimed to be affiliated with Homeland Security in a fabricated unit they called the U.S. Special Police Investigation Unit.
Taherzadeh allegedly sent this photo to witnesses, according to federal prosecutors. (Department of Justice)
The lavish gifts they allegedly tried to give agents as part of their scheme included a $2,000 assault rifle, a television, phones, surveillance systems and rent-free apartments at the building where they lived, court documents stated. Taherzadeh told investigators Ali had provided money for their operation, which apparently included at least five apartments — two of which investigators said were worth more than $40,000 each — that were given to Secret Service agents.
Of the four agents suspended by the Secret Service, one was a special agent assigned to first lady Jill Biden’s detail, and a second worked at the White House in the uniformed division.
RealClearPolitics reported on Friday a third suspended agent was on President Biden’s protective detail, and a fourth was assigned to secure Harris’s home.
The Secret Service said on Thursday the federal agency was cooperating with the "ongoing investigation."
"All personnel involved in this matter are on administrative leave and are restricted from accessing Secret Service facilities, equipment, and systems," the agency said in a statement.

We are missing the big picture. It shows a pattern of ISI units infiltrating the President's proximate security. Last time it was Indira Gandhi's security via the body guards.
And the jokers are just suspended after all that corruption?
And what kind of psychological and background checks were done os the Security folks, for them to fall for fake badges and fan boy stuff?
Something bigger is hiding.
And notice the timeline of the ops.
Started in Feb 2020 and unraveled in March 2022!!!
And due to a US Postal Service when a postman was assaulted?
Recall they had many SS scandals during the Obama administration?

Interesting article on how American English lost the British pronunciation:
https://getpocket.com/explore/item/when ... ket-newtab
I think the British pronunciation is still prevalent in New England's so-called "Boston accent".
My theory is the influx of Germanic people after Independence led to this change.

Bank of America is warning of recession shock coming. A deteriorating macroeconomic situation. Fed is about to unload $9 T in assets. This after buying $120 B/month in US treasuries from Mar 2020 to Jan 2022 as part of Covid stimulus.

Very interesting article on rhotic speech.
Explains the exaggerated ‘trans Atlantic accent’ fashionable in American films of the 1940s. Grating to the contemporary ear, even to me whose speech is non-rhotic.

@tiffin63:
Before the war started, Zelenskyy refused an offer for peace. Russia required 3 things;
1) Water in Crimea: no water was destroying the economy there.
2) Minsk 2 imposed: peace for the people of Donbas, within Ukraine, but greater autonomy.
3) Ukraine to remain neutral: no NATO.
Liberal discussion of 'sovereignty' in a world of Great Power Geopolitics is fair, but pointless.
In the world we actually live in, rather than the world we'd like to live in, there are plenty of reasons for Russia to have taken this position. Read this.
https://t.co/baTpZkydE6
Zelenskyy actually increased the provocation against Russia in January 2022 by;
1) Intensifying the bombardment of Donbas
2) Threatening to retake Crimea
3) A group of Republican congressmen intended to introduce a bill declaring Ukraine a NATO-plus country.
The die was cast.
Russia inevitably invaded. The important questions are;
1) Why did Zelenskyy increase provocations when Biden said "Putin has to do something"?
2) What will happen now?
Zelenskyy pushed because he's a US puppet, a tool in the Great Game that's been played for 100's of years.
The latest iteration of the Game has of course been planned for some while.
US sponsorship of the 2014 coup; the training and arming of a huge army of 600,000 led by ultra nationalists; ignoring the horrors of Donbas. These and many other clues are there, questions to answer.
The plan was made public in late 2021 when Elbridge A. Colby published The Strategy of Denial: American Defense in an Age of Great Power Conflict.
The Great plan was for a moral proxy war. Support for the little nation whose sovereignty had been impinged.
This would justify an endless supply of arms to fight Russia, coming from some of the wealthiest nations in the world.
The clincher? Not a drop of US or European blood will be spilt, other than Ukranian, and the nationalists wanted it. The US could fight to the last Ukranian.
The Great Game isn't really Russia, they are a small, though important player. A collapsed nation and neo-liberal reconstruction would be very profitable of course. All those lovely commodities. Yum yum!
No, the real target is China. They're the US global peer competitor.
By most every economic metric China has surpassed, or is about to surpass, the US.
China are also the second largest military spender.
The US retain one important power, control over the global financial system, bringing the benefits of a reserve currency and one more thing.
The power to decide against whom, why, how, and when to impose sanctions.
As president Woodrow Wilson said of sanctions, “Apply this economic, peaceful, silent, deadly remedy and there will be no need for force.”
Whoever controls sanctions controls the world.
This brings us on to the real reason the US is acting against Russia now, why Zelenskyy pushed on to the inevitable consequence.
China is in the process of forming an alternative global financial system. They already have an alternative to SWIFT, the interbank payment system.
What is worse, from a US perspective, Chinese currency is more solid, has greater value.
Its been argued many times the US dollar is propped up by being the reserve currency, by people holding dollars, else its vast QE programme and huge public spending deficit would haunt it.
China has no QE programme, no deficit, in fact it has huge reserves and a massive economy.
In short, if the Chinese global financial system took over, if ever more banks join and use CIPS rather than SWIFT, the US has had it. It becomes what Britian drifted into.
A sad island dreaming of a glorious past and lost opportunities. Why? Because the US would no longer be able to impose sanctions.
So, China must be stopped and Russia via Ukraine is the first step.
Next, this little nation with her sovereignty impinged strategy will be Taiwan.
In the world of Great Power Politics China will be provoked to act as Russia did, by force of arms, when Taiwan declare independence.
That begins my answer to question two, what next?
The US is shocked that Russia is winning the war against an army 3 times its size.
Very soon Russia will have achieved its objectives, a buffer zone, water to Crimea and peace in Donbas. They will withdraw and invite the UN to come in and keep the peace.
Ukraine will have lost hugely. Crimea, Donbas and perhaps more will not be autonomous Ukrainian.
They will be independent states of the Russian Federation.
Ukraine will also be neutral.
Its clear NATO have no intention of fighting Russia directly, so they will drop the provocation when Russia achieve their aims an withdraw.
But the US has now over reached.
There will be consequences. The worst one, from a US perspective, they have actually sped up the alternative global financial system.
Russia has been forced to trade outside of the dollar and nations are buying. Gas, oil, wheat, fertiliser, etc, all commodities the world needs.
Russia has also backed its currency with gold at a guaranteed price, how long before the Yuan joins suit?
What is more, most nations of the world didn't sanction Russia.
They might bide their time before risking the wrath of the US by buying oil etc. in roubles, but they will.
They will want to get their national reserves out of dollars after watching on in horror as Russian reserves were seized. They'll prefer a Chinese 'law based system' to US whims in a 'rule based system'. All they need is confidence.
Unfortunately, this increases tensions.
The US will now be in a hurry in this race against time.
As in the case of Pakistan and the removal of Khan, it will want to show little nations of the world it's still the big bully in town. She will want to frighten them from daring to use roubles and CIPS.
Worse yet.
This will push forward the Taiwan provocation.
That's why Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and and Japan were invited to the NATO ministers meeting over the past two days. They will be getting the heads up over Taiwan.
The notable thing of this meeting is India's absence.
Modi has clearly thrown his lot in with China and Russia, so he was snubbed, despite being a key member of the soon to be defunct Quad.
China and Russia are aware of the plan, which explains why Russia made such excellent preparations against the harshest ever sanctions.
How they will counter the Taiwan provocation? Will President Tsai have second thoughts now she saw the consequences in Ukraine? How quickly will trade transfer to CIPS?
These are the questions for Crystal balls. But the answers hold the question to all our futures, to WWIII.

US Business and Political Elites Are Putting America Second to China: Author
The piece is about a book(aptly!) named America Second that covers the subject. A lot of this is known to BR regulars. There are quite a few names mentioned!
The piece is about a book(aptly!) named America Second that covers the subject. A lot of this is known to BR regulars. There are quite a few names mentioned!
“Should the U.S. government try to overthrow the [Chinese Communist] Party?” asks Isaac Stone Fish in his new book, “America Second: How America’s Elites Are Making China Stronger.” Stone Fish, CEO of China-focused consulting firm Strategy Risks, as well as a former Beijing correspondent for Newsweek magazine, writes, “The Party poses an existential threat to the American-managed system.”
While Kissinger features most prominently in “America Second” among U.S. government officials who have engaged in major China-linked lobbying, there are numerous others that Stone Fish writes about, including former Secretaries of State Al Haig and Madeleine Albright, former national security advisor Brent Scowcroft, former Defense Secretary William Cohen, and Prescott Bush Jr. and Neil Bush, a brother and son respectively of former U.S. President George H. W. Bush. One striking detail highlighted in the book is that former Defense Secretary Cohen reportedly founded his consulting firm, the Cohen Group, only days after leaving office in January 2001. “We left the Pentagon on Saturday and opened for business on Monday,” Cohen boasts in a quote cited by “America Second.”
When asked about U.S. political elites’ contribution to the problem of making China stronger at America’s expense, Stone Fish said that former officials and politicians going into consulting and business, and then acting as if they’re disinterested when advocating for deals or policies beneficial to China is a major factor. He said that there are strict conflict of interest rules on Wall Street and in the legal sector, but that equivalent rules have not been developed in the foreign policy space.
Stone Fish sees U.S. universities and think tanks as posing a special problem with respect to the ways that they have made China stronger at America’s expense because they are perceived as unbiased purveyors of honesty and truth, even if that’s often not the reality when it comes to China.
Worth checking out!Journalism
Having worked as a journalist, Stone Fish also writes about journalistic self-censorship that is helpful to the CCP and, in an effort to drive positive change, is open about being guilty of this practice himself.

Agree. Could be a good book. However, till they cover the role of Mary Knoll missionaries and the Open Door policy on the 1850s still not enough.

Gautam ji,
The situation is not as dire. Here are some stats from NSF.
https://www.nsf.gov/statistics/2017/nsf ... erview.cfm
The difference (US Citizens - temp visa holders) was lowest in 2005 2007 - a little less than 6K.
Now the trend both groups are increasing with a slight widening in the gap. It is possible that the US citizens are dominated by Asians (2nd generation). But they are born in the US with a few PR holders.
Probably stopping/reducing immigration might help whites and blacks to go more into STEM research.
Probably there are other charts at the NSF website which can be analyzed.
Here is the table.

Another table from NSF site which I find interesting. If CS and Mathematics are separated in to two categories, I would think that US citizens+PR would be more than temp. vis holders in Mathematics. In CS, it would be the other way around.
temp. visa holders are heavy on Engineering where as USCitizen/PR are more evenly distributed across all fields with olife-sciences and non-S&E being the first and second.
Resident type Life sciences Physical sciences and earth sciences Mathematics and computer sciences Psychology and social sciences Engineering Non-S&E
U.S. citizens and permanent residents 24.8 9.7 4.9 18.9 11.3 30.4
Temporary visa holders intending to stay in the United States 21.8 14.3 12.4 7.4 33.6 10.5
Temporary visa holders intending to leave the United States 18.2 11.0 8.5 18.4 21.7 22.3

This is perhaps driven by job prospects of each stream, those coming in prefer the better paying and plentiful CS/Engg since studying abroad is expensive.

Re: Understanding the US - Again
Xiden has lost the plot. Here he is trying to answer a question or comment about Pakistan and Afghanistan, but the Easter bunny runs interference. Perhaps the bunny is a deep state operative, CIA agent or just Peppermint Patty dressed up to keep Sleepy Joe in check.

This is even worse.Jill Biden has to remind Joe to wave at White House Easter event
Joe Biden: "Happy Easter!" Jill Biden: "Wave... wave."

It's scary, the power of Islamoleftists that they are able to put up such a senile zombie as president.

Strange coincidences.
A total of 57 people from Hillary and Bill Clinton's inner circle have died in strange circumstances in the last 30 years. https://t.co/osbM2oiofh
15 of them committed suicide, including the billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Eight died in car and plane crashes, and 14 were killed under mysterious circumstances.
All of the victims on the "Clinton List" had information that could potentially ruin the couple's careers.

The US doesn't want Eurasian consolidation.
That's the end result of the end of the Cold War and the Warsaw Pact folding.
If that happens they would pack up the US to be an island power mostly focused on the Pacific Ocean...

Ilhan Omar is from Somalia.
Re: Understanding the US - Again
I think he means 'pakistan origin' in the BRF sense of the term.

Brother sister marriage is pakistani quality, so in that sense she is pakistani:Pratyush wrote:Ilhan Omar is from Somalia.
Re: Understanding the US - Again
Once again this Xiden admin is caught flat footed with this (honoris causa Paki) Ilhan Omar visit - BTW, they have tried damage control by saying it isn't a state dept sanctioned visit and is purely personal.
There's no stone left unturned by the BIF forces - leads me to believe Cyranoji is right, they are doing a desperate "Hail Mary" pass which is pissing off the GoI to no end (good in that even if they had any doubts about US intentions they have been effectively removed)
