Not COAS job to seek US help in securing IMF loan: ImranFormer prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan has said that it was not the army chief’s job to approach the United States over the International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal.
“If these reports are correct that [Chief of Army Staff] General Bajwa is seeking America’s help in getting IMF [loan] it means that the country is getting weaker,” he said in an interview with the local TV channel on Friday. His statement comes as COAS Gen Bajwa reached out to the US administration with a request for help in securing an early dispersal of a tranche of bailout package from the IMF in an effort to stabilise the dwindling economy of Pakistan.
According to security sources, the army chief spoke by phone with US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman earlier this week.

Re: Terroristan - March 31, 2022
The realisation is slowly dawning.
Pakistan’s days of extracting geopolitical rent are over. What next?
Pakistan’s days of extracting geopolitical rent are over. What next?
Since its independence some 75 years ago, Pakistan’s ruling elite have thrived on foreign largesse. Over the decades, the desire to benefit from geopolitical rents has become innate.
Lulled into a comfortable life, the current generation of this class is blind to how the geopolitical sands have shifted under their feet. Rather than wake up from their slumber and find a way to steady themselves and the country in today’s world, the country’s elite are insistent on staying firmly in place, no matter the consequences.
Since the turn of the 21st century, Pakistan’s stability has been underpinned by four main patrons — the United States, China, and the Gulf monarchies of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The Arab monarchies were now interested in pursuing radical transformation of their economy, society, and foreign policy. The Abraham Accords, a major achievement of Trump’s presidency, was an inflection point.
The monarchies now cared about return on investment from their allies, which included Pakistan. Unfortunately for them, both the economic and geopolitical returns in the recent past were in the red.
China also began to develop a more nuanced and jaded view of Pakistan and what its elites could offer.
However the conclusion of the article is weak and only partially correct. With the country’s ruling class currently engaged in scorched-earth warfare, all four of Pakistan’s historical patrons are recalibrating their policy towards Islamabad.
This is not only because Pakistan has fallen short of the expectations these countries have had over the years, but also because they have more important strategic challenges that they must contend with. As a result, they are not interested in spending an inordinate amount of time or resources in dealing with Pakistan.
Today’s increasingly multipolar world demands a different set of strategies from Pakistan. This is especially true because Pakistan’s traditional guarantors are preoccupied with a different set of challenges, and they increasingly believe that Pakistan does not offer much to them as a force multiplier — both geopolitically and economically.
This does not need be the case, because Pakistan has immense latent capabilities to be a valuable partner for its key strategic partners. For one, Pakistan’s defence capabilities, including its nuclear prowess, offers the Saudis a buffer to backstop its security concerns.{The current cold shouldering from KSA is after taking this possibility into consideration. So bhat is new here?} Then there is the potential to be part of a diversified global supply chain as the world seeks to move away from China.{Hain? TSP sitting with a begging bowl and no industrial expertise will somehow step into the shoes of China to be part of global supply chain as per this lahori logic. Apart from some textile and leather items what else can TSP offer?} Finally, to China, Pakistan offers access to a deep sea port if Gwadar finally reaches its potential.{Okay this is clutching at the straws}
Harnessing these capabilities, however, requires the country’s ruling class to first internalise that the world has changed – it will no longer rescue the Sick Man of South Asia simply because it is too big to fail.
Once elites recognise that the days of extracting geopolitical rents are over, the country can begin the process of rebuilding its value proposition to the world.

Moeed Yusuf. Where is he? Didn't he go to DC and "threaten" US that if Biden doesn't call Imran Khan, Pakistan has other options? Here we have the army chief begging a US deputy secretary for money. How's that for an option?
Re: Terroristan - March 31, 2022
Interestingly Wendy Sherman, when she last visited India, had the following to say on her visit to Pakistan (where she was going to next), that got the Paki's panties in a twist:partha wrote: The report in Nikkei was by Wajahat Khan who it seems is close to PTI. There was an uproar in the ISPR talking-points driven Paki "news shows" and one of them went to the extent of labeling her Wendy Sharma.“It’s for a very specific and narrow purpose, we don’t see ourselves building a broad relationship with Pakistan. And we have no interest in returning to the days of hyphenated India, Pakistan. That’s not where we are. That’s not where we’re going to be,” she said while speaking at the Ananta Aspen Centre in Mumbai.
So it is really funny to see Bajwa grovel before her for a few bucks.

Yawn - US restoring Pakistan’s Category 1 safety rating
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) could upgrade Pakistan’s safety rating to Category 1, allowing direct flights from Pakistani airports, the US media reported on Saturday.
There have been no direct flights between the two countries since 2017 when the FAA downgraded Pakistan to Category 2 due to concerns over Pakistan’s aviation safety record.
Simple Flying, a niche news site focused on aviation, reported that the FAA will soon send its inspectors to Pakistan to assess the country’s airports and aircraft. The FAA is the largest transportation agency of the US government and regulates all aspects of civil aviation in the country.
“Should the country’s aviation sector pass the test, there is a good possibility Pakistan will receive a Category 1 rating,” Simple Flying reported.

Fate of Pakistani medical graduates working in US hangs in balance
ISLAMABAD: Doctors who graduated from Pakistani colleges may not be able to work in the United States (US) after Jan 2024 as the country has failed to meet the criteria of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and the deadline is approaching fast.
Defunct Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had applied for the WFME accreditation and also invited its delegation to visit Pakistan but in 2019, the PMDC was dissolved and Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) was established. Subsequently, the WFME visit was postponed.
In order to get accreditation from the WFME, Pakistan has time till January 2024 and the current Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) Act at present does not meet the criteria to get recognition from the world body.

Zuhawari probably must have died of old age, waiting endlessly for a heroic entry to jannat. Time was not ripe for khan, pakis or taliban to cash in on his remains. But now with Biden’s FP down the cackoose, pakis transitioning to a lower form of bedpan and Taliban in dire need of money for bacha-bazi season, it is time to cash in on the old egyptian cadaver. So Taliban seem to have shoved him into one of those rented “mobile mortuary/freezer” while negotiations on his inam and logistics of refueling a CIA drone at Kandahar was going on.
It worked out for everyone including Zuwahiri’s reputation. There is no glory among the ummah for people like him, if the assassin that killed him was diabetes or stale shawarma.
Except for maybe the “Kabul Mobile Mortuary” rental chap who must be furious at this whole affair after hearing Zuwahiri got blown up along with his freezer, but was forced to return the deposit since Taliban hates deductions.

The house targeted has 17 rooms, it is a four story building plus a basement. The house is a luxury house Pakistani style villa. There are many rooms that could be used either as work space or bedrooms.
