BTW I dont think this is a planned conflict. If it is, it seems to be only between Iran and Hamas.
Egyptians apparently let Bibi know something was afoot about 3 weeks back as there was complete silence from Hamas side and it was eerie since there is usally some chatter.

WA
France has banned all pro-Palestinian protests
Western countries take action swiftly in order to protect their interests
They only expect India to accept every kind of nonsense by Kashmiri separatists, Khalistanis, Naxalites, etc etc...

If Muslim countries accept Palestinian refugees. Then they are accepting a dilution of claims on the land.
By keeping people in place, they're creating a space for the future erasure of Israel from the map.

Okay, now it is clear that the Pukes and Chinese are involved in Hamas and support for terror attack on Israel. Sumit Peer ...
New revelations of Pakistan training Hamas in Cherat, KPK. Also news coming of over 1000 trained Pakistanis in Iran, waiting to enter the conflict.

Col Raina had talked about that picture (about Cherat)(on an excellent show on Def Talks) nearly a day before Shri Peer. Col Saheb went into why it was in Pakistan, etc. Peer, IMO, picked that picture from Def Talks.

These guys have support from people on high
There is no other way that such inputs are available so quickly
Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
Niranjan, let us not quibble about who was first ityadi, yes Col Raina talked about it. The picture emerging is very clear: Pukes, Qatar, Iran, China, etc are playing a double game and their machinations are out in the open. The number of sophisticated weaponry with Hamas and Hezbollah are beyond their capabilities and we know who is providing such munitions. There are many activist around the world who are openly with Hamas and the palestines. Many lone wolf jihadi attacks are occuring all over the globe. There is huge immigration push into the US via open borders and allah only knows who is coming into the US, questions not asked. This tussle has major implications since it is a civilizational and religious. Iran is definitely in the cross-hairs of both US and Israel. Cannot predict where it will end up.
Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
That is one aspect of it and the ostensible reason the likes of Egypt and Jordan are providing to not accept refugees. But they can be against ethnic cleansing of Palestinians while still providing them succour. The real reasons are unsaid and have to do with the bad experiences of multiple Arab countries with palestinian refugees in the past.
In Jordan, the PLO tried to overthrow the Hashemite regime, the same regime which had fought for them and provided them refuge after the 1967 war. They even tried to assassinate the king after which the Jordanians shelled the refugee camps and killed thousands during Black September. They deported them all to Lebanon.
In Lebanon they eventually started an insurgency not only against israel but also the Lebanese Christians and essentially sparked the conflict which became the Lebanese civil war which ruined the country.
In Kuwait where there were 400,000 Palestinians in 1991, they supported Saddam's invasion against the very country which had taken them in and where they had been living in peace. After the war the Kuwaiti's were so angry they evicted the whole lot of them in one week.
Now why would Jordan or Egypt accept any refugees especially from Gaza which are likely to include many Hamas terrorists trying to escape the IDF?

Hundreds dead in a blast at Gaza hospital.
Israel has denied it was involved. This is the worst possible scenario for Israel - highly public casualties even before its invasion has begun. Very possible that Hamas/Hezbollah did it themselves to implicate the Israelis.
No doubt pressure will ramp up on Israel now restricting its freedom to act. How much they pay heed is another story.

There was this video posted below of a Kuwaiti guy ranting against Palestinians (and comically Netanyahu too, for being too nice to Palestinians). His comment about Palestinians siding with Saddam and looting all local businesses and Kuwaiti homes was spot on as per eyewitness accounts from some family friends of mine, who were in Kuwait at that time. The Kuwaitis summarily expelled every last one of them after Desert Storm in a ruthless cleanup. The Arab street and elites consider Palestinians as riff-raffs from past invasions to that region including from mongols etc and hold openly racist views about them.
In contrast, they seem to have a grudging respect for Jews for their scientific achievements and also performance in wars although they never openly say that unlike this guy:

Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
Not sure who blew up the hospital this time but again some history is relevant here. Back in 2014 Hamas was using the Al-Shifa hospital, which is the largest in Gaza as a de-facto HQ (reported by Washington Post) and using it as a place to torture and murder dissidents (reported by Amnesty international). They were doing this because they were certain Israel would not bomb it.Tanaji wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023 02:47 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-m ... t-67119233

Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
Yes what the Palestinians did in Kuwait was shocking. Textbook example of being an ungrateful wretch. The Kuwaiti's might have gone overboard later but can't say I blame them. After nearly losing their country, they couldn't take any chances.hnair wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023 02:52 There was this video posted below of a Kuwaiti guy ranting against Palestinians (and comically Netanyahu too, for being too nice to Palestinians). Hamas attack killed some 1000
The hospital that was attacked killed 200
Atrocious as it will sound - I will grant you that - 4 more hospitals will not even equate to the massacre that Hamas did.
Hamas calculated at an individual level. Yes. Those were the instructions. (Bhukari 2925)
A bomb does not calculate at an individual level.

Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
A bit OT - The current situation makes one appreciate how well IA has handed insurgency in Kashmir.
In the last 10 years, Kashmir has averaged a ratio of: 4 Terrorists: 1 security forces : 1 civilian killed.
37 civilians per year killed on average, almost all by terrorists.
Before the current conflict, Gaza had a ratio of 1 Israeli : 22 Palestinians. Best guess is half were civilians.
I am not suggesting Israel is in the wrong, just that there seems more merit in how we have handled an insurgency, which is not appreciated.

Deans,
This is fundamentally a flawed example.
The Indian forces are deployed on Indian territory and is trying to pacify an Indian population.
The Israelis are an occupation army and is trying to quell the rebellion of the occupied population.

Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
Pratyush ji, I was trying to make the same point. Israel's official stand is that Gaza is part of Israel, they are not a separate state in a 2 state
solution. If its an occupied territory or population, let Israel accept it as such.
Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
Temperatures running high and still increasing.
Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
It isn't the same situation but does speak to the mindset of the two armies (and countries)
India even when it has crossed the border and attacked Pakistan occupied areas it has been extremely careful to avoid civilian casualties... Same for collateral damage in terrorist incidents
For Israel the calculations are different, They have never really been affected much by Palestinian/Arab civilian collateral damage
Re: Hamas attack.on Israel. Oct 2023
I think Israel has to be a little careful here strategically... Its most important allies are fundamentally changing how they perceive Israeli-Palestinian conflict and it's actions
While there is still is broad support the amount of people who support the Palestinian cause or a two state solution is increasing especially among the younger generation
In the near future they may not have the free hand to bomb Gaza and run operations as they currently do.
News such as the Hospital bombing spreads like wildfire in social media and whether you like it or not does leave an emotional impact ( The actual fact about who was responsible for it is far behind the actual news)

Israeli Left are facing a crossroads moment. They can either continue their path of vilifying Netanyahu and laying all blame at his feet, or they can realize that those they're expressing sympathy for will target them for death without hesitation.
Were those youngsters gunned down at the music festival the classical right-wing zionist settlers? Or weren't they just innocent carefree youth, more likely to be Netanyahu critics than supporters? Neither Hamas nor Iran could have cared less.
We Indians also need to have a harder think about our ties with Iran. That country is trapped under irredentism, just like Pakistan. Neither of those countries has any vision for progress -- all they know how to do is to behave like spoilers towards others.
We also need to keep a lookout on how Spoiler Pakistan would try to play a similar Spoiler Game against us, just as Iran has now done against Israel.

Two senior US officials claim an independent assessment of the Gaza hospital explosion shows a misfired Palestinian Islamic Jihad group rocket hit the hospital.
NBC suggests that satellite imagery of the blast shows it wasn’t as destructive as originally thought.
Much of the damage from the rocket occurred in the main parking area.
The satellite images show “probable discolored blast area in the main parking area of the hospital compound,” said defense contractor Maxar Technologies.
The imagery did not show “significant structural damage” to nearby buildings.
