Interesting how low the multi-rack for 4x 250kg is on the Mirage-2000.

That surprised me too. Especially since the M2k has 4 fuselage HP's for bombs that could be used instead. I have never seen that type of rack on the M2k before. Perhaps the idea in an actual combat situation is to leave the fuselage HP's free for carrying MICA's in a hybrid A-G+A-A loadout. This idea would not have worked on the M2k prior to upgrade since the MICA wasn't available and no A-A missiles could be carried on the fuselage HP's.

With Rafale, the Air Force will go to India-Athens-S.Delhi send a message in all directions
https://directus.gr/me-rafale-tha-paei- ... tefthynsi/
April 24, 2024

By Kostas Sarikas
Rafale fighter jets from the 332 Falcon Squadron will be the aircraft making the long journey to India to take part in the major multi-national exercise 'Tarang Shakti 24'. The participation of the Air Force was decided after contacts of the Air Staff with the Indian Air Force and was "locked" during the recent visit to India by the Chief of the Air Force General Dimitrios Houpis. It is part of the wider military cooperation between the Greek and Indian Armed Forces, which comes as a continuation of the excellent relations between Athens and Delhi at the political level, as was also sealed during the visit of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to India last February.

For the Greek Rafale, the long trip of about 3,000 km from the 114th Fighter Wing to the Jodhpur Air Base in the province of Rajasthan in northwestern India , relatively close to the border with Pakistan, as Onalert.gr had revealed , will be the second out Greece mission following their recent participation in the multinational exercise " VOLFA 24 ", which took place in France. The Air Force's choice of the Rafale appears to have been a one-way street, as the Indian Air Force has the same type of fighter and can support HAF aircraft, while the French are also expected to participate in the 'Tarang Shakti 24' (Wave of Power) with Rafale . The Air Staff is already in contact with the Armee D'el Air in order for the fighters of the two states to fly to India at the same time . After all, the French also have flying tankers, which can refuel the HAF fighters in the air, if it is finally decided not to land at an intermediate airport.

The Indians, despite the great distance that separates the two countries, show a strong desire for wider military cooperation with Greece. After all, the reputation of HAF, which is among the leading airlines in the West, is well known in New Delhi. The Air Force was among the first to accept an invitation from the Indian AirForce to participate in the country's largest multi-national air exercise, which will see a total of 52 countries participating either with air assets or with observers including the US, France , Italy and Germany. According to information, the possibility of USAF participation with F-35 fighters is open . The Americans show a strong desire to approach India of 1.5 billion people, now the most populous country in the world, to distance it from Russian influence and bring it closer to the West, as an awe-inspiring rival to China. In 2023 they had first sent F-35s to India during the 'AERO INDIA' exercise. Meanwhile, they have already proposed co-production in India of the F-21 fighter (the Indian F-16) with joint participation in the program of the American Lockheed Martin and the Indian TATA.

The 'Tarang Shakti' is scheduled to be held next August with an aim to bring together the cream of the air forces worldwide. The participation of our Air Force with the Rafale will confirm the extroversion of the HAF but also of the Greek Armed Forces in general, which are spreading their wings outside the narrow limits of the Eastern Mediterranean. It was preceded by the participation for the first time of the Indian Air Force in the large multinational exercise "INIOCHOS 23", which took place at the end of last April with a focus on Andravida. The imposing Indian Su-30MK fighters landed at the 117th Fighter Wing and stole the show with their impressive presence . It was one of the Indian Air Force's few fighter presences outside India, as until then they had only participated in the American Red Flag and exercises organized by France and Great Britain.

https://x.com/IAF_MCC/status/1796062909447242131 ---> Onwards and Upwards. An IAF contingent arrived today at the Eielson AF Base of @usairforce, at Alaska, USA to participate in the upcoming edition of the multi-national exercise Red Flag 24. Ably supported by its IL-78 air-to-air refuellers and the C-17 transport aircraft, the IAF Rafale fighters took a transatlantic flight with staging halts at Greece and Portugal. Aimed to integrate aircrew in a multinational environment, Ex Red Flag is a two-week advanced aerial combat training exercise.

This picture is a beauty of a fighter jet aircraft, one of the best IMO. I don't think there is any other fighter jet aircraft in the world that displays such poise and agressive good looks. Kudos to the Russians for such a handsome beast. There may be more advanced stealth aircrafts in the world, but Su 30 MKI is the best looking one, such grace, such menacing look and awesome capability.

Some great aerial footage of the Tejas from Exercise Tarang Shakti.

Notice how there is no Tejas Mk1 FOC fighter seen in these exercises. My theory is that No.18 squadron has been moved somewhere up North, possibly already at a forward air base. Otherwise, they would definitely be a part of this exercise, given they were co-located at Sulur AFS, where Phase 1 of Ex Tarang Shakti is being conducted.

LT-5205 is with No.45 Squadron at Sulur AFS. Confirms that at least 5 out of 8 twin seaters have been handed over to the IAF by HAL.

Can see it flying in the IAF video below, with a Luftwaffe pilot in the backseat.

Tarang Exercise claims that IAF and its craft did well in the exercise with NATO jets. India hosted its largest-ever multinational air war games at Sulur Air Force Base in Tamil Nadu. Eurofighter typhoons from Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom took part in the exercise. Joining them were Rafales from France. Meanwhile, India deployed its Tejas and SU-30 MKI jets to take part in the drills. As part of the war games, the Indian and NATO jets carried out combat drills, joint communication and electronic warfare techniques and air-to-air refueling. NATO pilots also took sorties on India’s indigenous Tejas jet and also on the Russian-Made SU-30 MKI jets. This was all part of the Tarang Shakti exercise. The Phase 2 of the exercise will be held in the Jodhpur Air Force Station.

i am questioning now the wisdom of having extensive military contacts with America.

Just one point.

Would Hasina have had to leave Bangladesh if she had the support of the military ?

Arent we opening the military to untoward influence of America

The military was irrelevant to the outcome in Bangladesh. Even if the military was supporting Sheikh Hasina. Given the situation in Bangladesh, she would still have to leave. More than military, it was the loss of a political narrative that cost her. The expected counter mobilization from her supporters didn't take place in order to give her a fighting chance.

In the Indian context, regardless of the fantasy Congress party has about a repeat performance of Bangladesh in India. The reality is that chief ministers in India are more susceptible to such tactics.

We are seeing something similar in West Bengal. Yet I am expecting Mamta Banerjee to complete her term.

Removal of government through political maneuvering is much more likely.

Can the Pakis provide some T-80s, Al-Khalids, Type 96s, etc on their side of the Border near Longewala? So the A-10's can recreate what the Hunters did in 1971 and some Paki Faujis can try becoming shaheeds, would be nice part of the war games.

Recollecting some of the blue on blue instances of the A10s on the nato partners I would be wary about them getting close to our boys..

And I wouldn't put it past them to offer them to the pakis in the future with the threat libraries updated with data on Indian Armor and tactics built-in.

Thats I am asking the Pakis to be the Target practice and Indians just watch:)

Jodhpur(near enough to Jaisalmer Airbase) and Anti Tank Aircraft just remind me of the Battle of Longewala, But I wonder why the IAF is showing USAF a sensitive Airbase close to Pakistan and a few Hundred Kilometers from PAF Shahbaz Airbase they were based out of some time ago.
