India and Pakistan have renewed the agreement on Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for the next five years.
https://www.mea.gov.in/press-releases.htm?dtl/38445
It has been agreed between India and Pakistan through diplomatic channels to extend the validity of the Agreement on Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for a further period of five years.

2. The Agreement, signed on 24 October 2019 to facilitate the visit of pilgrims from India to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Narowal, Pakistan through the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, was valid for a period of five years.

3. Extension of the validity of this Agreement will ensure uninterrupted operation of the Corridor for use by the pilgrims from India to visit the holy Gurdwara in Pakistan.

4. In view of the continued requests of pilgrims regarding the removal of USD 20 service charge levied by Pakistan per pilgrim per visit, India has once again urged Pakistan to not levy any fee or charges on the pilgrims.

Lawhore-via-Isloo this is an unacceptable attack on the H&D of Pakistan

Yawn - https://www.dawn.com/news/1868915/pia-s ... nt-minimum

PIA stake sale attracts sole bid of Rs 10 billion way below government minimum of Rs 85 billion
The government had pre-qualified six groups in June, but only real-estate development company Blue World City participated in the bidding process, placing a bid that was below the government-set minimum price of Rs85bn.

Pakistan was looking to offload a 51-100pc stake in debt-ridden PIA to raise funds and reform state-owned enterprises as envisaged under a $7bn International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.

The Privatisation Commission said it had asked the bidder to match the minimum bid.

Blue World City Chairman Saad Nazir however stood by its bid. “We wish the government all the best if they don’t want to accept our bid,” he said.

Maybe also that there is a significant voting population that wants terrorism gone from the state. They have to walk a tightrope to keep the non-terror supporting and Hindu population hostage, while also giving hope for a better and less violent life. The change in public expectations doesn't happen overnight, but the shift would be palpable to the politicians. Lower violence and better economy suits most people.

Pakistan Extends Tenure of Army Chief for 5 years earlier it was 3 years

https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/ne ... s?from=mdr

Nov 04.

Pakistan's parliament has approved an amendment extending the terms of military chiefs, including the army chief, from three to
five years.

The move, supported by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's coalition government, is seen as a setback for jailed
former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who blames the military for his ouster and whose party opposed the bill.

Pakistan's parliament on Monday backed an amendment to a law that would extend the terms of the heads of the armed forces,
including the army chief, to five years from three, despite criticism from jailed ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan's party.

Extending the term of top commanders including Army Chief General Asim Munir, who took office two years ago, would deal
another blow to the embattled Khan and his party, which blames the military for his downfall.

Army chief calls on Saudi Arabia’s MBS
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman at the Royal Palace in Riyadh, on Wednesday.
The two engaged in a comprehensive discussion on a range of issues of mutual interest, including regional peace, defence and security cooperation, and strategies for enhancing bilateral relations, a statement said.
"Gen Asim Munir engaged the prince with a request for providing more funds to shore up Pakistan's falling foreign exchange reserves after two recent personal appeals from Prime Minister Shahbaz Shariff failed to yield any positive results."

Fixed the reporting.

I hope to crowd source a short video I recently saw on a britisher’s travel to Lahore.

I cannot find it; it was possibly on Twitter.

Although, I did detect traces of racism and perhaps religious superiority, the video showed ghastly filth. Included were shots of men defecating on the streets. Discreetly possibly, behind mounds of rubbish. Also included was commentary on the lustful stares of the locals for the pale skinned firangi males.

I do not remember India ever being quite so soul destroyingly dirty.
Although never have toured the interior of Bihar or jharkand.

I need it to disabuse a Pakistani’s belief, one who claims Pakistan is much cleaner than India.

Back to normal life in Pak.

On the positive side, they still have functioning railways. The station looked crowded.

Pak railways carries HALF the passengers it carried 5 years ago. Hopefully some more blasts will help them get rid of railways altogether and
move back to the era of PBUH.

I am actually thinking of a Pak related blogpost, but would like to first offer a guest post to Hussain Haqqani, one of the most sensible
Pakistani voices on geopolitics - which is why he was removed from his post as Ambassador to the US.

As soon as there was a report that Modi talked to Trump and was among the first 3 world leaders to talk to Trump, Shahbaz Shariff government has woken up and has sought to make "first contact" with the Trump admin

https://tribune.com.pk/story/2508811/go ... trump-team
It is a ritual that world leaders telephone the new US president to congratulate him.

However, President Joe Biden broke the tradition and never spoke to any Pakistani prime minister after winning the race for the White House in November 2020.
:((
Given Trump's unconventional approach, Pakistani officials are hoping that he will not follow Biden's policy and speak to Shehbaz sooner than later.
Expectation: new US president showers billions of dollars and F16s to Pakistan to "fight terrorism"
Reality: hope the new US president at least speaks to Pak PM
Since his victory, supporters of former prime minister Imran Khan believe that Trump will call Shehbaz to ensure the release of their leader.
:rotfl:
Similarly, Trump's hardline stance towards Iran and China, both Pakistan's key neighbours, may make things difficult for the country. However, some in the official circles feel that Saudi Arabia could rescue Pakistan in case of any trouble with the Trump administration.
Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman enjoy close ties. MBS was one of the first leaders to call Trump after his election victory. Interestingly, the day Trump won and MBS spoke to the new US president, Pakistan's army chief General Syed Asim Munir was in Saudi Arabia.
Is Trump aslo refusing to talk to Pakistan PM and hence army chief Munir visited Saudi to request Trump via MBS to pick up the call from Islamabad? :rotfl:

While Shabaz Shariff woke up and is trying to make "first contact" with Trump, his minister abused Trump (after Trump's victory) on a prime time TV show. I hope RAA agints in Trump's team show the video to Trump.

If trump wants to invade Iran, Pakistan can become front line al-lie against theocracy, from GOAT (global offensive against terrorism) they can become GOAT (global offensive against theocracy)

They can sign logistics support agreement for coalition support payment, and stop trucks whenever payment is due.

Pakistan has lost $1 trillion due to war against theocracy.

Manish ji,

Currently, the paki jihadi striped kacchas are in a serious twist because of India's refusal to travel to pukestan for the champions trophy and India seeking to play her matches in a neutral venue like dubai.

Only this outrage is being foregrounded with all other matters pushed firmly to the background, engaging (and enraging) the full time attention at the highest echelons of the paki govt

During Jaishankar's pak visit, apparently this was the only topic discussed by the pakis with him, all of whom were begging and pleading with him for the Indian team to be allowed to come and play in pukestan
