These are vessels which are almost close to 3,600 tons and they will be used for a large number of activities, which would include trials and testing of indigenous weapons, sensors, and equipment, for which sometimes we were using the frontline combatants. So they will also be used for target towing, whether it is surface or subsurface. They could also be utilized as launch platform or mothership for unmanned or uncrewed vessels. So they have multipurpose use, and apart from whatever any ship at sea can do, they will be able to do it. So this will be a big capability enhancement in the arsenal of the Indian Navy as we go ahead."

As per our long term integrated perspective plan, we are supposed to have 24 frigates so these 7 new stealth frigates will add muscle to that capability. Indian Navy will be a full 'Atmanirbhar' force by 2047. I don't think any further platforms from surface to sub-surface will be acquired from abroad. They will all be made in India. At the Naval headquarters, we have commissioned two task forces under a two-star rank officer who are now going into the industry and learning about the kind of technology we can imbibe to plug the gaps which we have brought and we are successful to a certain extent. I am looking at the next few months with great hope."

Construction For Next Generation Patrol Vessels For Navy In Full Swing
Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd, a key Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU), marked a significant step in the construction of ‘Next Generation’ warships on November 5 by laying the keels of the first two Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPVs). GRSE has been commissioned to build four advanced vessels for the Indian Navy. The first NGOPV is slated for delivery in 44 months, with subsequent vessels to follow at six-month intervals, according to GRSE. Commodore P R Hari (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director of GRSE, highlighted that while the keel-laying ceremony was conducted for the first two vessels, work on all four vessels is already underway.
In the past, GRSE has built and delivered several Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) to the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. The NGOPVs will be much larger warships than the OPVs built earlier, and have greater endurance and firepower. These platforms will be about 113 metres long and 14.6 metres wide, with a displacement of 3,000 Tons. The NGOPVs will achieve speeds of up to 23 knots. Their endurance will be 8,500 nautical miles at a speed of 14 knots. The crew will comprise 24 officers and over 100 sailors. The NGOPVs will play a variety of roles. In the past, GRSE has successfully built and delivered numerous Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) to the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. However, the new Next-Generation OPVs (NGOPVs) represent a major advancement, offering significantly greater size, endurance, and firepower compared to their predecessors.
According to GRSE, these NGOPVs will measure approximately 113 meters in length and 14.6 meters in width and have a displacement of around 3,000 tons. These advanced warships are designed to reach speeds of up to 23 knots, with an impressive operational range of 8,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 14 knots. Each vessel will accommodate a crew of 24 officers and over 100 sailors. The versatile NGOPVs are designed to perform a broad spectrum of missions, bolstering the Navy’s ability to safeguard maritime interests and adapt to evolving defence demands. GRSE states these advanced warships will be deployed for ‘Out of Area’ contingency operations, non-combatant evacuation, convoy escort missions, anti-piracy patrol, and counter-infiltration ops.

Mega Rafale fighter & Scorpene sub deals to be inked with France by next month: Navy chief
NEW DELHI: With the Rs 32,350 crore contract with the US for 31 armed MQ-9B `Predator’ drones done and dusted, India is now firmly on course to soon ink another two mega defence deals for 26 Rafale-Marine fighter jets and three additional Scorpene submarines, collectively worth around Rs 1 lakh crore, with France.
“Both the deals for Rafales and Scorpenes are in the final stages. We should be able to sign them by next month, if not earlier,” Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi said on Monday
.........
The around Rs 63,000 crore deal for the direct acquisition of 22 single-seat Rafale jets and four twin-seat trainers for aircraft carriers, along with weapons, simulator, spares, crew training and logistics support, is just “one level short” of being sent for the final approval by the CCS. “Since it is a govt-to-govt deal, it should not take much time,” Admiral Tripathi said.
The three additional Scorpenes, in turn, will be built at the Mumbai-based Mazagon Docks (MDL) for around Rs 36,000 crore, with the first slated to roll out in six years, followed by the other two at intervals of a year each. They will add to the six French-origin Scorpene or Kalvari-class submarines built at MDL under the over Rs 23,000 crore `Project-75’. The sixth and the last boat, `Vagsheer’, is slated to be commissioned soon.

VIDEO: https://x.com/ANI/status/1864260354504843618 ---> On Navy Day 2024, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi says, "As part of our 30 years submarine building plan of 1999, wherein the government had approved that you could have 12 submarines which will be built in India with foreign assistance. And then the next 12 submarines will be built purely by Indian design by Indian shipyards. So, the first tranche of the first batch is the P-75, five have been constructed, and delivered to the Indian Navy for commission. The sixth one is around the corner. Within a month or two, it will be inducted into the Navy. The second tranche of that is Project 75 India, which is a very advanced stage of the acquisition process. And it is only a matter of time before the government takes a call. And then we'll sign the contract with whichever shipyard is chosen. This is under the strategic partnership model. In 2015, the government amended this, that instead of having all the 12 conventional submarines, six submarines were made to be nuclear-powered. Similarly, for the SSNs two have been granted approval. We have started work on that. We have spoken to all the stakeholders. We have a plan of faction as to how to move so that the first SSN is inducted into our nation and in the Navy, roughly by 2036-37. And they would certainly provide a huge deterrence potential to anybody who is operating in the Indian Ocean region. But more importantly, it will be a huge boost also for the Atmanirbharta, the MSMEs, the ancillary industries, which will obviously generate a lot of employment."

I assume there will definitely be Naval Aviation specific changes and requests needed but paying more 250 Million $ per bird even with specific enhancements and armament seems a dear amount.
What synergies are we actually getting here with the IAF birds or is the inter service rivalry costing the taxpayer dearly again (like the Apaches)?
