Maharashtra: Nashik Deolali Camp Under Espionage Scanner Over Seven Army Jawans Under Scrutiny For ISI Links
extracts
More than seven army jawans from Nashik's Deolali Camp are currently under scrutiny of the central intelligence apparatus in an alleged connection with an espionage case involving Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). These jawans are suspected of either directly or indirectly sharing sensitive military information, including army movements, ammunition specifics, and unit locations, with handlers across the border.

The questioning is continued with these jawans based on the interrogation of the army jawan Sandeep Singh, who was recently arrested by the Punjab Police for allegedly leaking classified military details to ISI operatives. Singh, who was stationed at Nashik’s Deolali Camp, was apprehended last week while on leave as part of an intelligence-led operation. Another army jawan Rajbir Singh linked with the ISI network is currently absconding. During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused Sandeep Singh has collected a total of Rs15 lakh from different places for the said espionage activities and sharing information to the ISI operative.
drugs appear to be involved
His arrest follows the detention of Amritpal Singh, a key suspect from Punjab's Tarn Taran, who was allegedly a part of a larger network involved in espionage and drug smuggling. Further interrogation led Amritsar Rural police to Sandeep Singh, exposing his role in the intelligence leak.on the Amritpal Singh interrogation. In connection with this case, two other individuals, Mandeep Singh (alias Maddy) and Madhav Sharma, were earlier arrested from Rajasthan. During their arrest, police recovered 500 grams of heroin, Rs10 lakh in suspected hawala money, and a 0.30 bore pistol, indicating a possible link between espionage and cross-border drug smuggling.

NIA arrests 2 for leaking Karwar naval base info to Pak
National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two individuals from Uttara Kannada district for allegedly leaking sensitive information about Karwar naval base to Pakistan in an alleged case of honey-trapping, sources said Tuesday.

A six-member NIA team took the accused duo -- Vetana Tandel from Muduga village and Akshay Naik from Halavalli -- into custody on Tuesday.

Investigators suspect the accused were trapped by Pakistani intelligence agencies through honey-trapping. A woman agent allegedly befriended them on Facebook in 2023 and coaxed them into providing classified details about activities in naval area, details of warships, their arrival and departure, and security information.

The NIA team, which arrived in Karwar Monday, stayed at the city police station till late night and took the duo into custody Tuesday morning in coordination with local police. The duo was presented before a local court later in the day.

In August 2024, NIA had questioned three individuals — Tandel, Naik, and Suni, from Todur —regarding the suspected espionage. While they were initially released, the agency continued to track their activities.

The accused reportedly shared photographs of the Karwar base and details of naval movements in exchange for money, said to be a monthly payout of Rs 5,000 for eight months. The espionage ring was exposed following the 2023 arrest of Deepak and others in Hyderabad by the NIA.

Authorities have traced financial transactions linking the accused to the espionage network, with money being deposited into their bank accounts. Tandel and Naik were employed on contract with Iron and Mercury, a company in the Chandya region of Karwar. Sunil, a former contract worker at the Sea Bird naval base canteen, is now a driver.

The NIA is interrogating the arrested individuals and has sought further information on their activities. Officials are in discussions with Sea Bird officers. More arrests are likely as authorities suspect a wider network is involved in the case.

UP ATS arrests Kanpur ordnance factory employee for leaking defence secrets to Pakistani agent via social media
Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Wednesday arrested Kumar Vikas, a Junior Works Manager at the Kanpur Ordnance Factory, for allegedly leaking sensitive and classified information to a suspected Pakistani intelligence agent via social media.

Earlier, on March 13, 2025, ATS Uttar Pradesh had arrested Ravindra Kumar, an employee at the Ordnance Factory in Hazratpur, Firozabad, for conspiring with the suspected Pakistani agent identified as Neha Sharma.

Additional Director General of Police, ATS, Nilabja Chaudhary, said that during investigations, ATS received information that Kumar Vikas was involved in sharing confidential information from the Kanpur Ordnance Factory with an agent.

"Upon investigation, ATS identified Kumar Vikas, a resident of Kanpur Dehat district, currently residing at C-131 New Highwacity, Naramau, under Bithoor police station, Kanpur Nagar. Kumar Vikas had come into contact with the alleged Pakistani agent Neha Sharma through Facebook in January 2025," said Chaudhary. The suspect, Neha Sharma (believed to be a fake identity), introduced herself as an employee of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and shared her WhatsApp number with Kumar Vikas.

"To maintain secrecy, Kumar Vikas used the Ludo app to communicate with the alleged agent. Driven by financial greed, Kumar Vikas allegedly provided sensitive documents, equipment details, ammunition production data, employee attendance sheets, machine layouts, and production-related charts of the Kanpur Ordnance Factory to Neha Sharma," ADG added.

The ATS stated that the leaked information could severely compromise India's unity, integrity, and sovereignty, posing a significant threat to national security.
