Re: India's Border Security with China and Pakistan-2020 - Part 2
The Indians have demonstrated great shrewdness in dealing with China. And india definitely has leveraged its multipolar engagements to pitch perfection. The US may have been an unwitting facilitator of this engagement and Russia a more overt one. I believe India also had goodwill from the global south for from the Covid vaccines as well as maintaining some semblance of foreign policy independence. The Quad membership exclusivity could not have hurt either.
China is facing economic headwinds. India’s path seems to be clear for several years ahead….. unless they do something stupid, like electing ann oddball as prime minister.

Lots of difference between sagacity and shrewdness.

We need to build our MIC and cleanup the traitorous ecosystem that can internally sabotage us any time. None of these powers will want another power disrupting their comfort zones. We will have to struggle through it. Through sheer blood and will of our soldiers we managed to deter the Chinese to go back to 2020 positions. It is more because of the grit that was shown after waking up to reality. I am not seeing any shrewdness here.sanjaykumar wrote: ↑24 Oct 2024 06:53 The Indians have demonstrated great shrewdness in dealing with China. Hard power permits realpolitik. I don’t believe China would have backed off without demonstrable Indian military strength.
Let us leave sagacity in the nehruvian era where it was only a poor substitute for hard power.

My blogpost comparing terrorism figures for Kashmir with Pakistan.
We know Pak's situation but I have not seen a proper comparison done in the media, so I did it.
I was surprised to see the numbers. keep in mind that figures for Pak are after clearance by the army - as I prove with one of the
numbers taken from Pak sources.
Posting this as a counter to those who whine about how bad things are in Kashmir

DJI software unrestricted / modified Mavic Pro 3 drone operating at 9000m ASL.
I post this as there is a mistaken assumption that drones cannot operate at high altitudes. This video should be a wake call to all military planners especially to Indian Armed forces that their high altitude assets, bunkers, personnel are susceptible to a precision strike by such drones.
No good countermeasures exist as of now.

Scary prospect.
Even small drones with payload of a 1-2 grenades would be devastating for small posts manned by 2-3 soldiers.
Imagine a thermal/infra-red optics equipped drone with a payload of a grenade being sent up to a post, at night. Not all posts can be equipped with jammers. Hard-kill with issued guns will be the only option.
The advantage of having your post at a higher level to the enemy will be nullified.
With ever shrinking budget and a friend who dominates in the small drone manufacturing i am certain the Pakis will be procuring these in bulk. They anyway are using them to ferry drugs across the borders.

They can and I remember IAF wanted to acquire MQ-20 Avengers few days after we got our membership in MTCR. The obvious reason is to take care of those Paki non-state actors in SDRE way (and there could have been whispers of taking care of the state actors in LAC when it comes to that) . Obviously Khan said nothing doing and then asked us to live with the MQ-9standav wrote: ↑20 Dec 2024 11:40

What is an “EW class RF deduction”? Even induction does not make sense…..
Re: India's Border Security with China and Pakistan-2020 - Part 2
Most electronics in the defense and drone space in India have significant Chinese components. This has serious implications its a matter of Chinese pull a Mossad exploding pager trick on the Indian armed forces. Worse would be that these devices are used to misguide the Indian Armed forces in various ways.
Just one scenario consider for example these RF jammers / Counter measures can themselves become target beacons when a drone sends out a secret /encrypted signal to the jammer components targeting them to stay on till the drone reaches the vehicle or the operator. All this is possible since the jammer and drone both use Chinese components

Indian Army Inflicts Heavy Casualties On Pakistani Forces After Ceasefire Violation Along LoC
Poonch: Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire agreement on Wednesday by firing on Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army responded strongly, reportedly causing heavy casualties among the Pakistani forces. According to the sources, the firing incident from the Pakistani army was a breach of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, which was renewed in the year 2021 on February 25. The violation occurred in the Krishna Ghati sector, a day after two Indian Army personnel were killed in an IED explosion near the LoC in the Akhnoor sector.
According to security officials, Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing on a forward post in the Tarkundi area along the LoC. The Indian Army retaliated strongly, resulting in massive losses for the Pakistani forces. However, the extent of damage on the Pakistani side is not yet confirmed.
An undated video of a Pakistani army officer is making rounds on social media paying last respects to killed soldiers.
Meanwhile, the officials said a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Indian Army sustained minor injuries when he accidentally stepped over a landmine in the same sector this evening.
The JCO, who is a resident of Mendhar, was part of a patrolling party keeping a close vigil on the LoC to prevent infiltration of terrorists, they said, adding the injured officer was evacuated to the military hospital.
The situation along the LoC is tense following a spurt in hostile activities from across the border over the past week, the officials said.
This was the first ceasefire violation this year and the fourth cross-border incident in five days.
On Monday, a soldier was hit by a bullet from across the border while manning a forward post in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector in Rajouri district while an Army patrol came under terrorist fire from a forest across the LoC in Rajouri's Keri sector on February 8. The terrorists were apparently waiting for an opportunity to sneak into the Indian side.
During the intervening night of February 4 and 5, a land mine explosion reportedly resulted in some casualties to terrorists attempting to infiltrate into the Indian side from across the LoC in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district.
On February 10, General Officer Commanding of the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, reviewed "hostile activities" along the LoC in Rajouri district.
"GOC White Knight Corps, along with GOC Ace of Spades and GOC Crossed Swords divisions, visited forward areas of the Rajouri sector for an operational update on the prevailing security situation and the hostile activities," the Army had said in a post on X.
The post, shared by the White Knight Corps on its official social media handles, said the corps commander complimented all ranks for their vigil and relentless operational focus.
He also urged them to remain prepared for all contingencies, the Army said.

All roads lead to Ladakh: Centre goes full throttle on connectivity after end of 370
SRINAGAR: Road connectivity across Ladakh has accelerated at an unprecedented pace for civilian and military needs as part of a “tsunami of development” in the region since it became a separate Union Territory following the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, junior Union highways minister Harsh Malhotra said Sunday.
“The region has seen major central projects across multiple sectors. From 2020 to date, Centre has provided Rs 20,660 crore for road development of Ladakh,” Malhotra told journalists in Leh.
The minister showcased progress on Bilaspur-Manali-Leh railway project with an Rs 1.31-lakh crore allocation. “At present, the journey from Delhi to Leh takes 40 hours (by road) but after the railway line is ready, it will reduce the distance to 20 hours,” Malhotra said. He added the Srinagar-Leh rail project had not been cancelled but put on hold.
A major push for air connectivity is also on, with Rs 640 crore earmarked for a new terminal at Leh airport.
With the chief executive of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Tashi Gyalson by his side, Malhotra mentioned a flurry of projects. These included Shinku La Tunnel. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rs 1,200-crore project on July 26 last year. It involves a 4.1-km twin-tube structure built at 15,800ft. The tunnel on Nimu-Padum-Darcha Road will be completed in two years and connect Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. It will provide all-weather connectivity to Leh, vital for both civilian and military requirements.
“Road infrastructure continues to be a priority, with Rs 2,405 crore earmarked for the Nimu-Padam-Darcha Road. It will further strengthen Ladakh’s connectivity,” Malhotra said, listing other projects like Zanskar-Kargil road and Zoji La tunnel.

India looks to revive '71 war airbase as China builds near 'chicken's neck'
India is reportedly accelerating the revival of a long-defunct airfield in Tripura in a calibrated response to reports that China is aiding the development of a World War II-era airbase in Bangladesh’s Lalmonirhat district, less than 20 kilometres from the Indian border.
Senior officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) visited Kailashahar Airport in Tripura’s Unakoti district on May 26 to assess infrastructure, land availability and visibility conditions, as reported by PTI. The site visit marked the first concrete step in restarting operations at the airfield, which has remained non-operational for over three decades.
The renewed interest in Kailashahar comes amid growing unease in New Delhi over the potential strategic implications of the Chinese-backed upgrade of Lalmonirhat airbase in northern Bangladesh. The site lies in close proximity to the Siliguri Corridor, a narrow, 22-kilometre stretch of land that connects mainland India to its northeastern states. Often referred to as the "chicken’s neck," the corridor is widely recognised as a critical vulnerability in India’s territorial integrity.
The Lalmonirhat airfield, once used during World War II, is reportedly being developed with Chinese support. While few details are publicly available, India is viewing the project as part of a broader pattern of deepening China-Bangladesh defence ties.
In contrast, India’s revival of Kailashahar airport carries both historical significance and strategic weight. During the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the airport served as a launchpad for the Indian Air Force and the fledgling Bangladeshi resistance. It was from this airfield that the first missions of 'Kilo Flight', the nucleus of what would later become the Bangladesh Air Force, were launched, using civilian aircraft retrofitted for combat and reconnaissance missions.
