Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep concern over assault and abuse of a Hindu woman in Cumilla’s Muradnagar upazila.
In a statement issued today, Sunday, the BNP secretary general alleged that a certain adviser in the Muradnagar area has been continuously abusing his power for his personal gain.
“The assault and abuse of a Hindu woman is a cruel, shameful, and heinous act. Such barbaric incidents have pained and shocked the people of the country,” Mirza Fakhrul said.

Maybe it was done on purpose. It is like those annoying ads which you remember far more than run-of-the-mill formulaic ads. Same here. See everybody is talking about the letter's structure, grammar etc. There is only one number that people have to focus on.EswarPrakash wrote: ↑08 Jul 2025 13:57They didn't use ChatGPT for sure. All those title cased phrases are irritating to me and looks like something which my 5 year old would write. What a bunch of cowboys!
We are missing out on sending our domestic Yeshu gang into BD…They don’t care who pays them … just cut a cheque in the name of John Smith ministeries
Yes, that is the point, but they keep bringing in "5 year old would write" when the previous could not remember anything not even his name or him being El Presidente and "Blinken Schiff Yellen LLC" did Autopen for all US decisions. Go figure.
The Bangladesh government started discussions right after the US declared reciprocal tariff on Bangladeshi products on 2 April. Our chief adviser wrote to the US president where we urged for some concessions. The commerce adviser also spoke to them.
The government even offered duty concessions on certain products that might benefit the US in the annual budget for the 2025-26 fiscal. Apart from that, we continued talks on the non-tariff barriers mentioned by the USA, including complications in investment and implementation of the intellectual property law.
Following all the talks and discussions over the last three months, the imposed reciprocal tariff has come down from 35 per cent from 37 per cent. In other words, we could not yield that much from those discussions and talks.

As part of the tariff discussions, the United States had sent a draft of a framework agreement, but we have no idea what it contained.… The government has stated that the draft agreement included a non-disclosure clause.
Although there is consensus on trade-related matters, negotiations between Bangladesh and the United States are currently stalled over non-trade issues, including some sensitive topics.

A business leader, requesting anonymity, told Prothom Alo that the discussions with the United States go beyond trade. The US wants to deepen its geopolitical and strategic involvement with Bangladesh, primarily to ensure that Bangladesh does not tilt too far toward China. Washington wants Dhaka to avoid significantly expanding trade relations with China or encouraging Chinese investment.
Sources confirm that among the conditions being discussed are clauses requiring Bangladesh to comply with any sanctions imposed by the United States. This means Bangladesh will have to refrain from trade, business, or investment activities with countries sanctioned by the US. Furthermore, there is a condition that goods granted duty-free access to Bangladesh from the US should not be offered similar benefits to any other country.
Another business leader, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the US wants Bangladesh to import military products from the United States and, in return, reduce its military procurement from China.

But this man is like a dhimmi.
https://www.hindustantimes.com/chandiga ... ThAjP.htmlProf Lal stated that compared to other jails where Nehru was kept (run by British), including Naini and Gorakhpur, he received ill-treatment at the hands of the police and jail authorities in Nabha (ruled by Indian king who didn't give rat's ass about Nehru).
“Nehru was released from the Nabha jail only after he signed a bond that he would never enter the princely state again!” he said.
K Santanam, a freedom fighter who was imprisoned with Nehru, in his famous memoir ‘Handcuffed with Jawaharlal’ had recalled, “I was handcuffed with Jawaharlal and Gidwani was handcuffed with a policeman and we were put in a miserable branch line train and taken to Nabha, where we were lodged in a separate and secluded part of the jail which had mud walls. The room was 20 ft by 12 ft. The roof as well as the flooring was also of mud.”
Santanam, who died in 1980, had further written, “Even the sentries were not allowed to speak to us. No arrangements were made for our bath. Our clothing was also not given to us. Mud was falling from the roof all the time.”
He also wrote, “Jawaharlal was highly irritated at this treatment (the dude was used to five-star comfort in British jails, with a glass of orange juice early morning to hydrate himself) and he found vent to his irritation by sweeping the floor every half hour and trying to keep the room clean. Gidwani and myself were more amused than angry.”
“Our imprisonment in the Nabha jail was not known to the outside world. Pandit Motilal Nehru got worried and tried to ascertain our whereabouts from various officials and non-officials in Punjab. Failing to get any reply, he approached the Viceroy himself who got the information from Nabha.
This took two to three days. The authorities of the Nabha jail suddenly changed their attitude and arrangements were made for our bathing. Our clothes were given to us and friends from outside were allowed to send fruits and other eatables (what a relief to the freedom fighter),” Santanam had recalled.
