In the US, the fine brothers would likely win a multimillion settlement against the police.

I will follow to see if the native British are as circumspect as Indian.

The cynic would say these two groups deserve each other. I think the British may deserve better.

More like this...US police has no qualms wasting away people like this and would not even enter the court to justify it.

That has never ever stopped US police. Take a look at Daniel Shaver case

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shootin ... iel_Shaver

Never mind him, did it stop the killing of Eric Garner?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Eric_Garner

The notch on gun is not an idle comment - US police have been known to use Punisher logos with notches to denote people they have killed.

This is the biggest economically significant trade deal UK has made since leaving the European Union. It’s one of the most comprehensive deals India has ever done. Thank you to PM Modi for his leadership & pragmatism.

Its quite odd: the British press is not covering it mostly or relegated to back pages. One would have expected articles saying how the brownies are going to invade and how Starmer has sold out or the usual aid nonsense but not that either…

So we will be exporting chappals, grass toys and sarees to UK. Hopefully this is just a graphic.

Correct. Question is what are we importing from them? What is in it for Bharat? Crowing that we have an FTA and "dono hathon mein laddu kya karega lattu puttu?" and "gol gol matol" kind of childish ditties seem to have become the norm on BRF.

Since the representatives of the businesses most affected by the FTA have not kicked up a fuss, the deal is likely adequate.

As to what the FTA covers and what benefits each side expects, it is there in the two Prime Ministers’ speeches.

One emphasis seems to be expanded markets for India’s labor-intensive industries—I.e., PM Modi wants the most ground level impact, IMO.

Press release:

https://www.pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage ... ID=2147805

Agreement Unlocks Export Opportunity for Labour-Intensive Sectors including textiles, leather, footwear, gems & jewellery, marine products, and toys—generating large-scale employment and empowering artisans, women-led enterprises, and MSMEs

Unprecedented Market Access for Indian Goods with Zero-duty access on 99% of tariff lines, covering nearly 100% of the trade value

Ambitious Services Commitments – A First by the UK

A wide-ranging package covering IT/ITeS, financial and professional services, business consulting, education, telecom, architecture, and engineering—unlocking high-value opportunities and job creation.

Enhanced Global Mobility for Indian Professionals

Streamlined pathways for Contractual Service Suppliers, Business Visitors, Intra-Corporate Transferees, Independent Professionals (e.g., yoga instructors, chefs, and musicians), and enabling smoother talent flow and cross-border collaboration.

Double Contribution Convention (DCC) – A Major Breakthrough: It will exempt Indian workers and their employers from social security contributions in the UK for up to three years, significantly improving take-home pay and reducing costs for Indian companies

Man wearing Pakistan jersey argues with security at India-England Test, told to cover up: 'Take me with force'
Mahipal Singh Chouhan, Jul 28, 2025

A viral video showed a fan in a Pakistan jersey being asked to cover it during the India-England Test, sparking debate.
A video from the recently drawn fourth Test between England and India at Old Trafford has stirred controversy online, after security officials confronted a fan wearing a Pakistan cricket jersey and asked him to cover it.
Jersey not allowed, says stadium staff
The clip, widely shared on X (formerly Twitter), shows the fan sitting among spectators in the stands, dressed in a green Pakistan shirt. Stadium officials can be seen approaching him and stating that jerseys of non-participating countries were not permitted within the venue. The fan, however, firmly refused to remove or cover his jersey, insisting that none of the Indian fans around him were offended or had raised any complaints. At one point, he can be heard telling the security personnel, “Take me with force.”

Gautam saar,

India drinks more scotch than is produced in say, the UK.

The deficit is made up by local "entrepreneurs" who collect used and empty bottles, refill them with "scotch" and sell them to the gullible customers.

why do we need to import onlee.

Chetak Sirji,
He said he will not eat nor let anyone eat. He did not say anything about drinking. I am aware about the local entrepreneurs, as they have offered to take my empty Scotch bottles purchased from Duty free. I am afraid they may go out of business.
