Just see the trouble that Baba Kalyani of Bharat Forge, Pune had to take, just to get the Indian Army to notice his artillery gun

Any update of his meeting with the PM and senior cabinet ministers
This is one of the reasons why I hold people like General PR Shankar of Gunner's shot in contempt. They harmed the nation more than they helped the nation and now they get to peddle BS on youtube as if they have immense knowledge on everything.

First in Operation Sindoor: ‘Red teams’ of experts to map ‘mind of adversary’
excerpts
For the first time, Operation Sindoor — the military strike launched by India earlier this month against terror targets in Pakistan — employed the concept of “red teaming” as part of its operational planning, The Indian Express has learnt.

Red teaming involves embedding a small group of experts familiar with the adversary’s mindset, tactics and response patterns into the planning process. Their role is to critically challenge the plan, simulate enemy reactions, and help test the robustness of the intended military strategy.

According to sources, this is the first time the Indian military has tested this concept in an actual operation, marking a shift in India’s strategic doctrine, bringing in a more dynamic and anticipatory approach to such cross-border operation
It is learnt that the red team embedded in the broader planning process comprised five senior officers drawn from different commands and postings across the country.
some more details
Sources said the concept was introduced following the Army Commanders' Conference in October 2024, after which a group of 15 officers underwent specialised training in red teaming. A roadmap has now been drawn up to expand and formalise the 'Vidur Vakta' programme over the next two years, they said. The aim is to build in-house expertise and eventually reduce dependence on foreign trainers.

In May last year, as first reported by The Indian Express, the Army had begun exploring the feasibility of creating a dedicated unit to function as an adversarial force -- OPFOR (Opposing Force) -- to conduct realistic wargaming and enhance combat preparedness. Several militaries, including in the US, have long employed such units to simulate enemy behaviour during training exercises.

The Army already has a REDFOR (red forces) unit within its training command (ARTRAC) headquartered in Shimla, which is responsible for vetting wargame plans and simulations -- typically conducted on paper or using sand models -- and for laying down the parameters and terms of reference within which these exercises are to be planned and executed.

However, officials explained that while REDFOR simulates adversary tactics and is a tool used for training, the red team studies own plans and their impact on the adversary, and the adversary’s gauged reaction at every step

Ojit Singh is Army’s 1st Command Subedar Major, to advise Northern Command chief on JCO, OR matters
BR may need to find the rank insignia for this appointment. And IA seems to have taken a leaf out of the books of US forces, where they have Sergeant Major of the Army etc.

This is big. Didn't see much coverage so far.
'New All-Arms Brigades Being Formed': Army Chief Announces 'Rudra' On Kargil Vijay Diwas
Under this, new all-arms brigades named ‘Rudra’ are being formed, and I approved it yesterday. This will have fighting components like infantry, mechanised infantry, armored units, artillery, special forces, and unmanned aerial systems, supported by tailored logistics and combat support,"
“Similarly, agile and lethal special forces units, ‘Bhairav’ Light Commando Battalions, have been established to shock the enemy on the border. Every infantry battalion now includes Drone Platoons, while artillery has enhanced its firepower manifold through ‘Divyastra Batteries’ and Loiter Munition Batteries. Army Air Defence is being equipped with indigenous missile systems.
Sources told CNN-News18 that two infantry brigades have already been converted into Rudra Brigades. Till now, the Army used to have only arm-specific brigades, but Rudra will be a mix of arms.

Major Gaurav Arya explains Rudra and Bhairav brigades of the Indian Army. Rudra Brigade is one of the most forward looking step taken by the Army, making Indian forces self sufficient to defend & tackle the challenges of modern warfare, which requires agility, quick deployment & quick decision making. In warfare the logistics tail is hugely important, the right material delivered at the right time wins wars. India is also integrated with Akash Teer across all three - army, airforce and navy. A quick foray into enemy territory by IA means Rudra and Bhairav are the right strategy of formations to execute. A Rudra brigade will have infantry, artillery, mechanical forces, special forces and drone units. Of course Signals, EME and Logistics support are part of the brigade of roughly 3000 people.

This restructuring is across the entire Army. A new paradigm indeed for the young recruit and officer.

Excellent video. I have one question though.

Why are we not building roads on the ridges? High ground and all that. Is it because it is harder to build on the mountain ridges and/or because of the rarified atmosphere? River valleys are naturally protected by the mountains from enemy arti is a bonus. But with satellites watching every move, is that such a big advantage? They can certainly finetune targeting from the other side of the mountains.

Army places an order for emergency purchase of 6 AK-630 systems. More systems expected to follow.

Operation Sindoor has definitely helped us to understand where our gaps could be and we are thankfully fast tracking our purchases before phase 2 begins.

This good news, IAF should also use these to take out Drones, PGM's etc from hitting High value Targets in addition to SAM's, Manpads etc.

My wish list is that we convert some of the GSH 30mm Mig 27 cannons to be ground Vehicle Mounted and unleash them on the LOC/ IB

Also how well prepared are we for an asymmetric warfare, especially when facing the Northern Horde!
Here is a take on how we could make it difficult for Xi and his horde if they decide to reapeat a '62!
https://swarajyamag.com/world/india-can ... ic-warfare
Also we raised about 7 or more regiments of M777
Havent heard of any poor workmanship or barrel bursting of these Uber-Ulla guns!!
If I remember Kalyani had two cheaper options One titanium and other Iron gun
Also our home grown Drones and armmed variants integration in the Mountain Brigade!!
How effective are LCH in the Eastern Sector especially in the Mountain warfare, meaning maneuverability in the narrow vallyes and passes

+1.

These multi-barelled rotary guns are good as the last wall of defence. The next wall is served by the 40 mm solutions like the old Bofors L-60 (which we also have), the modern 35 mm Rheinmetal Skyshield/Skyranger systems etc.

The outermost wall will typically be the missile based SHORADs.

With drone proliferation to be expected in hundreds of multiples of manned aircraft, these 'gun' based solutions are needed, in numbers.

Did happen and was covered in these forums as well.

I believe posters like Ramana ji did a deep investigation on possible causes.

IIRC the official investigation found that a defective shell had caused that incident.

They should also look at land based version of higher calibre naval gun like Oto 76mm, as an outer layer of defence. Shell for shell, it will be much cheaper than short range missiles

If the system has passed tests, why are only 6 being ordered, even for the first tranche? With the number of locations to be defended, why can't a large order be placed for the first lot itself to encourage manufacturers to invest in production capacity?
