I am not sure that "the vast majority of Americans do not support it". Do these two congress critters have any survey results, or did they pull those non-quantitative numbers out of thin air?

The US correctly or wrongly or unilaterally called Western Hemisphere as their domain and no Eastner White/Black/Brown or any other combination is not welcome!!
What is that has spooked the US to call for this??
So what has turned US insular and inwards so to speak??
My question is how come EU is naive about American debt pressure and how come they don’t expect such behaviour?? Same with Cheen, they only seem to do kadi ninda and sell some treasuries. May be they know now is just negotiation before Yanks are cornered
Re: Understanding the US - Again
Look at how Americans influenced EU politics., there is apart from a few , no one really worth the salt as head of nations. But remember , its not just politicians., its the bureaucracy that actually runs EU., the less said the better !.. they are just too compromised to do anything worthwhile ., the group will eventually fall on its own weight. It is said famously by the Germans no less., when it comes to technology, they are caught between the devil and the deep sea, ie, the NSA/American or the Chinese.S_Madhukar wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 01:09Their imagination only goes as far. Re: Understanding the US - Again
I saw the original post and wondered how Norway entered the discussion which if i recollect correctly was about Greenland. I think that somewhere a poster confused Norway and Denmark (Greenland is a dependency of Denmark). Both countries are NATO members and belong to the Nordic group with strong ties in people and language. In fact, a couple of centuries ago, they were briefly one country.
Denmark is not as "rich" as Norway and has struggled to maintain its living standards. Like most of Europe, Denmark has a left wing Government but with some right wing attitudes on certain topics such as immigration as it has been targeted by peacefool types from the ME and Pakistan. In fact our British Home Secretary (a peacefool) has been adopting some of their ideas particularly with regards to asylum and has a proposal to adopt similar asylum laws.
I happen to know Norway quite well because I have a cousin living there (married to a Norwegian) and she is the closest relative in Europe, except for immediate family. For some obscure reason, Norway chooses the Nobel Peace laureate, though all the other Laureates are chosen by Sweden as Alfred Nobel was a Swede.
(I wonder if one of the Wimbledon tennis champions can be persuaded to "donate" their prize to me. I could thus get the Wimbledon championship I always craved but did not have the skill to win.)

French President Emmanuel Macron openly challenged U.S. President Donald Trump following renewed tensions over NATO, Greenland, and looming trade tariffs. After signals of a possible NATO exit debate in France, Macron drew a firm red line against Washington, condemning Trump’s threat to impose sweeping tariffs on European allies as unacceptable. Macron warned that Europe would respond in a united and coordinated manner if the measures are confirmed, while backing Denmark-led military exercises in Greenland. The standoff has exposed deepening fractures within NATO, as Trump’s Greenland push and trade war rhetoric fuel questions over alliance unity and Europe’s strategic autonomy.

drnayar ji,
The french are a nuclear armed state.
They have always had serious cultural and nationalistic identity issues with everyone in europe and specially with the amrikis
they will bluster about a bit to display their "मर्दानगी" and then quieten down, returning swiftly to their siesta and le gouter, both more important to their well being than either ukraine or greenland.

Ajay Banga is World Bank President.
“ Ajay Banga was appointed head (President) of the World Bank after being nominated by U.S. President Joe Biden in February 2023 and subsequently confirmed by the World Bank's Board of Governors in May 2023 for a five-year term, taking office in June 2023. As the U.S. is the largest shareholder, it traditionally nominates the World Bank president, and Banga, a former Mastercard CEO, was the sole candidate put forward. ”

"Trump’s “Board of Peace” is designed to oversee Gaza’s post‑war governance and reconstruction. Including someone like Banga helps anchor the board in development‑driven legitimacy, not just geopolitics. It also aligns with Trump’s push to attract large financial commitments from member states—up to $1 billion for permanent seats—which makes having a respected global economic figure even more strategic. "

My question is will Saudi Arabia or UAE or Qatar pay for a permanent membership for Pakistan. As the purpose of the Board of Peace extends beyond Palestine to conflicts anywhere in the world, and J&K is a dead issue in the UN, I'm sure Pakistan would like a permanent seat on Trump's Board of Peace - but they can't afford it.

Ajay is uniquely equipped to lead the World Bank at this critical moment in history. He has spent more than three decades building and managing successful, global companies that create jobs and bring investment to developing economies and guiding organizations through periods of fundamental change. He has a proven track record managing people and systems and partnering with global leaders around the world to deliver results.
He also has critical experience mobilizing public-private resources to tackle the most urgent challenges of our time, including climate change. Raised in India, Ajay has a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing developing countries and how the World Bank can deliver on its ambitious agenda to reduce poverty and expand prosperity.

I wonder what Trump thinks of that.We are on track to meeting this target. In fiscal year 2024, the World Bank Group delivered a record $42.6 billion in climate finance. This was 44% of our total financing putting the new target well within striking distance.

Re: Understanding the US - Again
well just to put it mildly, i don't claim to have read all the Hindu texts, but enough to understand some knowledge comes to human consciousness only when the time is right., as it is also removed when needed., the great destruction of ancient libraries of Nalanda and alexandria was not happenstance. A last chapter of the Autobiography of a Yogi provides a clue., also Paul Brunton's Search in Secret India [ reprinted i believe ]
But honestly any devotee of Babaji would find the concept easy i presume.. the lores go far and wide , of parallel dimensions, existence of alternate realities, multiverse and all that.
Not wanting to sound like Bala., but yes., the truth is there out to see but only to the trained mind. I digress at this point

Re: Understanding the US - Again
FWIW - A Historic/physics note:
The famous “flying saucer” mystery around the Roswell incident actually has a solid physics backstory that was declassified much later. I’ve outlined the story and underlying physics in more detail in the BRF physics thread long ago. it was tied to Cold War efforts to detect Soviet nuclear tests using SOFAR (Sound Fixing and Ranging) waves, employing odd, saucer- or dish-shaped hardware (think old parabolic microphone plates) carried by balloon systems. These unusual objects were genuinely recovered and reported by the media at the time, but the technical details were later officially denied. What looked exotic in 1947/1950's was really early geophysics and nuclear-test monitoring tech.
(This physics is similar to those non-explosive SOFAR spheres (often called SOFAR bombs, though that name is misleading). They were thin-walled hollow spheres, typically glass/metal/ceramic, roughly ping-pong sized, filled with air. When dropped into the ocean, they sank until ambient pressure caused them to implode (“pop”) at a known depth.
That sudden implosion generated a sharp acoustic pulse that coupled efficiently into the SOFAR channel, allowing the sound to propagate thousands of kilometers — very similar to how whales exploit the same channel for long-range communication. No explosives, no detonators — just pressure, material strength, and ocean acoustics doing the work. Used to send SOS of pilots who were shot down in ocean. This was used by US Air Force - and remained classified even decades later ..enemy could not guess it because it had *no* electronic circuit /radio beam but will signal location of pilot minimalist use of physics for long-range signaling and location during WWII search-and-rescue.)
(For details see any reference)
