Compare and contrast
A study published in the US.
https://www.csohate.org/2026/01/13/hate ... ndia-2025/
"India Hate Lab (IHL) documented 1,318 hate speech events targeting religious minorities, particularly Muslims and Christians, in 2025 across 21 states, one union territory, and the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. On average, four hate speech events occurred per day. This marks a 13% increase from 2024, and 97% increase from 2023, when 668 such incidents were recorded."
and
https://www.gov.uk/government/statistic ... march-2025
"in the year ending March 2025, there were 137,550 hate crimes recorded by the police in England and Wales"
India has a population 21 times that of the UK. One of the articles above made the new. Guess which one?

India and Kanadda have appointed Russell Peters as a joint representative to this board a few hours ago. He will particularly reproduce Modi's accent in the meetings.

UN Secretary General immediately after Trump Speech at World Economic Forum at Davos.
António Guterres : The @UN Charter is the foundation of international relations, the bedrock of peace, sustainable development & human rights.
When leaders run roughshod over international law, picking & choosing which rules to follow – they are undermining global order & setting a perilous precedent.
When a handful of individuals can bend global narratives, sway elections, or dictate the terms of public debate, we are facing inequality and the corruption of institutions & our shared values.
The Charter is a compact which binds us all.
All countries must adhere to it, fully & faithfully.
Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
"Global Order" was made by the US. They can also unmake it. It is not fair that China gives only $37 M to the WHO, whereas the US gives $500 M. Tedros was a puppet of China in the COVID-19 spread affair.
India is at the receiving end of this BS called the UN and the P5. Somalia is the president of the Security Council for this year (two-year term, IIRC).
I won't cry even two drops for this entity in its current form.

Meanwhile: Reports of Trump being successful in cancelling Newsom's Davos speech.
Also At Davos, Trump praised his asli 'frient' PM Modi and promised a “great” India-US trade deal — while maintaining 50% tariffs on India.

Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
Especially as individuals, we have very little power - except for the power to name reality, applying the same standards to ourselves, friends and adversaries.Quote: In 1978, the Czech dissident Václav Havel, later president, wrote an essay called “The Power of the Powerless,” and in it he asked a simple question: how did the communist system sustain itself?
And his answer began with a greengrocer.
Every morning, the shopkeeper places a sign in his window: “Workers of the world unite.” He doesn’t believe in it. No one does. But he places the sign anyway to avoid trouble, to signal compliance, to get along. And because every shopkeeper on every street does the same, the system persists — not through violence alone, but through the participation of ordinary people in rituals they privately know to be false.
Havel called this living within a lie. The system’s power comes not from its truth, but from everyone’s willingness to perform as if it were true. And its fragility comes from the same source. When even one person stops performing, when the greengrocer removes his sign, the illusion begins to crack.
Friends, it is time for companies and countries to take their signs down.
....
Which brings me back to Havel. What does it mean for middle powers to live the truth?
First, it means naming reality.
It means acting consistently, applying the same standards to allies and rivals.
....
It means building what we claim to believe in, rather than waiting for the old order to be restored. It means creating institutions and agreements that function as described, and it means reducing the leverage that enables coercion.
It calls for honesty about the world as it is.
We are taking a sign out of the window.
The powerful have their power. But we have something too: the capacity to stop pretending, to name realities, to build our strength at home and to act together.
The truth is that the United Nations is quite dysfunctional. There is no fixing it, not as long as some members have a veto and others do not; as long as the truth cannot be told about Pakistan's terrorism or China's human rights in the name of being united in a United Nations.
This variable geometry is what India should pursue too -- "different coalitions for different issues based on common values and interests". If the United Nations can be repaired, it should be. But the capacity to stop pretending is that India does not have the heft, nor does it have the political capital to expend to try to repair the UN.We’re doing something else: to help solve global problems, we’re pursuing variable geometry. In other words, different coalitions for different issues based on common values and interests.
