On a lighter note, I happened to watch the Super Bowl show on YT and was wondering to ask los Amigos of Estados Unidos, is the Donroe doctrine taking over America or are the Latinos taking over America? Whatever bum shaking classical all-American dance and barely understandable lyrics of an unknown genre I heard, I liked it and I hope they swamp Estados Unidos to the utter takleef of the OM crowd. I mean I will take a Jessica Alba any day over the first lady!

Yes that is the point of current Admin. But there are problems. The previous regimes turned a blind eye on these laws and more people came in. Now reversing that and enforcing the law is turning emotionally ugly. Now remember some of the southern states have a large number of Hispanic legal immigrant population (~30-40%). If that population turns against the admin, then it becomes a political problem. Media wanted that to happen and so they are highlighting that story. On the top of it ICE is not a trained police organization. Mishaps happen frequently and that makes them carry bad reputation. November will tell us the real story. As the numbers go down for the Republicans, Trump will lose support in the USG. It is a vicious cycle.Lisa wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 12:43 ^If these migrants are there illegally are they not already committing an offence? India's SC said the same of Rohingya's did it not?

Re: Understanding the US - Again
Just some random fact-checks...
1. "We have 11,888 murderers that Biden... let into our country."
The number (often cited as ~13,000) refers to the total number of noncitizens with homicide convictions on ICE’s docket
- This list includes individuals who entered the country over the last 40 years, spanning multiple administrations (including his own first term
2. AGAIN here . "I settled eight wars... best first year of any President in history."
3. "Minnesota: $19 billion in fraud that we know about."
ZERO Basis.
4. "We have the best crime numbers that we’ve had in 125 years."
- contradicts ANY available data.
National crime statistics are typically compiled annually by the FBI,.. Historical data shows that while crime rates fluctuated, they reached historic lows in the 1950s and again in the early 2010s. Also comprehensive national reporting did not exist the early 1900s.
5. "If we captured 50% of the fraud... we would have better than a balanced budget."
- The U.S. federal deficit remains in the trillions. Even the most aggressive estimates of total annual government-wide fraud (often cited by the GAO as being between $233 billion and $521 billion) would not come close to balancing the budget even if 100% of it were recovered.
6. "States are an agent for the federal government in elections."
Not per the U.S. Constitution.
7. The 100% Tariffs will not cost the American consumer anything; the other countries pay the tax
Okay!

When explaining the reality of current ICE operations to someone unfamiliar with the ground reality in 2026, it is helpful to clarify that the situation has moved far beyond "policing illegal immigration."
Here is a breakdown to help address those common misconceptions:
1. The "Illegal" Myth vs. Current Reality
The biggest misconception is that ICE only interacts with people who have "committed an offense" by being here illegally.
Civil, Not Criminal: - Under U.S. law, presence without documentation is generally a civil infraction (like a speeding ticket), not a criminal one.
Legal Residents & Citizens: - In 2025 and 2026, there have been documented surges in "at-large" arrests where ICE has detained U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents (Green Card holders). For example, in January 2026, reports identified that at least five U.S. citizens were shot in various immigration-related operations since mid-2025.
Massive Error Rates: Because current operations prioritize volume, many "respectable people" who have lived here for decades with full legal status are being caught in the net due to outdated databases or lack of due process during home raids. (majority for just being brown color)
2. The Use of Masks and "Secret" Tactics
The concern about agents in masks with no ID is a very real, documented issue:
Masking as a Tactic: ICE agents began wearing face coverings (masks/gaiters) during raids, w to "maximize terror" and avoid accountability.
Just today (February 9, 2026), a federal judge blocked a California law that tried to ban federal agents from wearing masks. While the judge upheld the requirement for agents to wear visible ID and badge numbers, the reality on the street is that masked agents often make it impossible for families to know who is taking their loved ones.
Home Invasions: ICE has faced criticism for a "secret policy" of entering homes without judicial warrants, leading many families—including me - those here for 50+ years—to feel they are witnessing a "kidnapping" rather than a legal process.
3. Violence and Fatalities
The claim that people are being killed is not just a theory; 2025 was the deadliest year for ICE detention on record.
: Between July 2025 and January 2026, at least eight people were killed by agents in the field. This includes high-profile cases like the fatal shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minneapolis in early January 2026.
At least 35 people died in immigration detention centers between July 2025 and early February 2026.
4. India’s SC / Rohingya Comparison
While the Indian Supreme Court (in late 2025) ruled that illegal immigrants like the Rohingya do not have the same "settlement" rights as citizens, there is a major difference:
In the U.S. context, the current system is frequently detaining people who are citizens or legal residents.
Unlike the "refugee" status debates in India, many people being targeted in the U.S. right now have established legal rights that are being bypassed by rapid-response tactical teams.
The "it's only for illegals" argument fails because the current system lacks the safeguards to distinguish between a new arrival and a 50-year citizen in the heat of a masked raid. When agents don't show ID and use "terror-style" tactics, they aren't just enforcing law—they are creating a situation where legal residents and citizens are being injured or killed "by mistake."
Re: Understanding the US - Again
All employers are supposed to fill USICS form I-9 for new employees. This has been the law since 1986. In this, the new hire presents the employer with the documents needed to show they are citizens or otherwise authorized to work in the US.
Now the employer can be presented with plausible looking documents, and their liability is then covered. There is the e-Verify system which can be used to check if the presented documentation is authentic, but use of it is voluntary (mostly; that is slowly changing, state by state). The reason for this is the political clout of economic interests that need the labor provided by the undocumented. Then there is the dodge of treating the worker as an independent contractor instead of as an employee.
So the general unwritten American agreement was to have the undocumented as long as they are not criminal.
The difference with India is that India has the labor pool of citizens that will do that work (even if in states like Kerala the labor is imported from Uttar Pradesh or Bihar). So, AFAIK, in India, there is no economic interest, only political interests in shielding the undocumented. AFAIK, the US does not have the problem of non-citizens voting in significant numbers, unlike India.
This unwritten American consensus is broken by the Trump administration- The share of individuals with criminal convictions removed from the interior fell from 92% in 2015–2016 (Obama) to 75–77% in 2018–2020 (Trump first term) to 30% ( first year of Trump second term).

Agreed. Its just so strange seeing people screaming about legalities. They appear to be saying that illegal migrants can only be detained IF they are convicted of a crime! Literally thousand have applied to courts and trump's ICE is snatching them at the courts and moving them to detention. I do not how one misses this news as this is everywhere. How many daily roving snatching's did they perform?Obama carried out over 3 million repatriations and I do not recall even ONE televised protest by MSM. Does anyone?
And what is this kujli of bringing India into every discussion? How is immigration in India is even remotely relevant to immigration in US?With regards to India an even stranger story. Re: Understanding the US - Again
So, I think Amber Ji is bringing out some of the arguments from the other side. And these are genuine concerns. Trump admin has burnt a lot of bridges with the legal immigrant community because of these unnecessary tactics. ICE could have taken staggered approach. 1. Secure the border 2. Identify and deport the people with criminal records 3. Tighten the employment laws to filter out illegal employees 4. Provide some time and way out for the more civil yet illegal immigrants to leave before taking action.Lisa wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 00:58Agreed. The rough out approach may be deemed legal, but you've lost all the good will doing it and this can easily put the Republicans in back foot politically for a long time. The idea of America as a beacon of democracy, fairness and merit is now in the dumps. In the long term, this will define the decline of this great power IMO.

From Google, Why I need A Visa?
"Visas are required because they allow countries to control who enters their borders, manage immigration, and ensure national security, letting governments vet visitors for reasons like health, criminal records, or economic stability before granting entry for specific purposes (work, study, tourism) and durations. They help prevent illegal immigration, terrorism, and protect public health, while also serving as a tool for diplomatic reciprocity between nations. "
This applies to India and the US.

Something seems to be happening in El Paso, TX. Airspace closed until Feb 20, which is unprecedented. Its not a small place either.
Re: Understanding the US - Again
From what I understand. Crossing over without an authorization is a misdemeanor - A criminal offense (even if minor). The government can choose to prosecute these in civil or criminal proceedings. A 2nd time, would be a felony. Overstaying a Visa is a "civilian" offense. I guess a majority of the ones being prosecuted fall in the misdemeanor category. The executive actions around this matter have changed from "situation" dependent to a literal enforcement of the law - as intended. The mass abused "asylum" provisions are no bar to prosecution today.Jay wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 01:38

Anecdotally, the masses who have come to the US illegally, do not think of themselves as criminals. It is largely viewed as an ethnic and economic discrimination issue. Their communities are petrified as many with families or long history of residence are no longer reasons to escape criminal prosecution and treatment.

On February 11, 2026, the FAA abruptly shut down the airspace over El Paso, Texas, for seven hours following a high-tension incident where a high-energy laser from Fort Bliss engaged four Mylar balloons (party balloons) that were mistaken for cartel surveillance drones. (They initially announced 'closed the air space for 8 days! - when I heard the news report) . While the White House and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy initially characterized the event as a neutralized "cartel drone incursion," reports from The CBS News indicate the closure was actually triggered by the FAA’s unilateral decision to protect civilian flights after the military failed to coordinate its directed-energy weapon testing. The incident caused significant travel chaos and localized medical emergencies, highlighting a critical breakdown in communication between the FAA and the Department of Defense regarding the use of advanced counter-drone technology near major metropolitan areas.

Some stats will give us an understanding of why there are many ICE goof ups lately. They doubled their strength from 10000 agents to 22000 in a short period (1 year). this was possible due to compressed training of 47 days 155 days. The age required is reduced to 18 (from 21). So we are talking about young and know nothing individuals try to enforce something with time pressure of meeting the goal of 75 arrests per day per person. Leadership is held accountable if these numbers cannot be met.A_Gupta wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 08:08 Just to point out that many people have moved the courts against ICE, the judges have stayed ICE or reversed their decisions, and ICE blatantly disregards the court orders.

In U.S. immigration law, “removal” is the formal term for deportation. It refers to the legal process by which the government expels a noncitizen from the United States and returns them to their country of origin.

So what really is the ICE effort about? It is about terrorizing communities.Removals: ICE has just posted how many individuals it has removed since October 1, 2025. This date marks the beginning of fiscal year 2026. ICE reports it removed 56,392 individuals so far in FY 2026.
ICE also posted FY 2025 year-end figures for removals.[1] { [1]^ ICE has not revealed how many removals occurred between September 21 and 30, 2025 so actual numbers may be slightly higher.} As TRAC has previously reported, an estimated total of 85,769 of these removals took place while President Biden was still in office,[2] {[2]^ See TRAC’s earlier reports published February 25, 2025, March 25, 2025, and May 15, 2025.} leaving a total of 234,211 removals occurring after President Trump assumed office.
Adding the figures for FY 2025 and FY 2026 together, the total reported number of removals during the Trump administration is just 290,603. This is just 7 percent more than were removed in FY 2024 during the last full year of the Biden administration despite the enormous increase in the resources and government personnel devoted to this effort.

Israel has the largest intelligence operation [ of any country in the world] running in the US for a very long time
Israel made the problem., Epstein was one of theirs.[ there is a very strong reason to believe he is very much alive] . They have enough dirt on almost all US politicians on both sides., enough to control them., especially Trump. They did a "controlled" release to keep everyone in line. Kash , Pam and everyone have repeatedly lied under oath., its not just their jobs , probably their lives as well.
They have also given Trump the solution to quell a possible revolt :
inside the Government : by selective leaks / threats : notice the democrats has been quite meek and submissive
outside the Government : ICE to control the masses by fear and intimidation.. a quick look at their agenda/mandate shows they exist literally outside the law and have impunity
outside the country : selective leaks and political control over foreign leaders courtesy Mossad and financiers like the Rothschilds

“ Steven Willoughby, deputy director of the counter-drone program at the Department of Homeland Security, told Congress in July that cartels are using drones nearly every day to transport drugs across the border and surveil Border Patrol agents. More than 27,000 drones were detected within 500 meters (1,600 feet) of the southern border in the last six months of 2024, he said, mostly at night.”

Why Indian Students are Disliked Abroad!
It was the first day of school in the USA and a new Indian student named Chandra Subramanian entered the 4th grade.
The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American History.
Teacher :- Who said 'Give me Liberty, or give me Death'?"
She saw a sea of blank faces except for Chandra, who had his hand up:
Chandra :- 'Patrick Henry, 1775,'.
'Very good!
Teacher :- Who said 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People,
shall not perish from the Earth?''
Again, no response except from Chandra:- 'Abraham Lincoln, 1863'.
The teacher snapped at the class, 'Class, you should be ashamed.
Chandra, who is new to our country, knows more about our history than you do.'
She heard a loud stage whisper: 'F(uk the Indians.'
'Who said that?' she demanded. But Chandra put his hand up. 'General Custer, 1862.'
At that point, a student in the back said, 'I'm gonna puke.'
The teacher glares around and asks 'All right! Now, who said that?'
Again, Chandra says, 'George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991.'
Now furious, another student yells, 'Oh yeah? $(ck this!'
Chandra jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher,
'Bill Clinton to Monica Lewinsky, 1997.'
Now with almost mob hysteria someone said
'You little shit. If you say anything else, I'll kill you.'
Chandra frantically yells at the top of his voice, 'Michael Jackson to the child witness testifying against him in 2004.'
The teacher fainted. And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, 'Oh shit, we're screwed!'
And Chandra said quietly, 'Lehmann Brothers, November 4th, 2008'.

The Trump administration on Thursday revoked a scientific finding that long has been the central basis for U.S. action to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and fight climate change , the most aggressive move by the Republican president to roll back climate regulations.
The rule finalized by the Environmental Protection Agency rescinds a 2009 government declaration known as the endangerment finding that determined that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases threaten public health and welfare.
The endangerment finding by the Obama administration is the legal underpinning of nearly all climate regulations under the Clean Air Act for motor vehicles, power plants and other pollution sources that are heating the planet.
President Donald Trump called the move “the single largest deregulatory action in American history, by far” while EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin called the endangerment finding “the Holy Grail of federal regulatory overreach.”

Virtually all scientific bodies and expert surveys have rejected or strongly criticized it.
