Terroristan - March 31, 2022
Re: Terroristan - March 31, 2022
This is a short but possibly serious window of opportunity.
The Fake Martial has, believe it or not, insulted the entire Shia community of Pakistan. In a closed door meeting with Shia ulema, he delivered a rant that questioned their patriotism and loyalty, among other things telling them, “If you love Iran so much, then go to Iran”.
The magnitude of the insult, a body blow to their honour, is being underlined by the clearly incensed Shia religious leaders in their own videos.

It’s all over their SM too.
Thoughts:
1. It’s insane that a Pakistani ‘leader’ can say such things to the people who represent 15-20 per cent of your population.
2. But now that he’s said it how do we exploit this hallowed Pakistani tradition of strategic brilliance?
— Should a Shia ulema meet an unknown gunman apparently sent by PA?
— Should there be a Shia protest march in Gilgit Baltistan or Quetta or Isloo to start a second Karbala?
— Should a young and passionate Shia bravo (could be a Fauji too!) try to nail Asim Munir’s testimonials to the closest Imambara door?
— Should Pakistani Shias organise a warrior force to help brotherly nation of Iran?
I seriously hope the appropriate agencies are looking at this.

BREAKING: Asim Munir Told Pro-Iran Shia Ulema To Go To Iran If They Love The Country So Much
Amid rising tensions in West Asia and the war involving Iran, Israel and the United States, Pakistan finds itself walking a tightening diplomatic tightrope. Deep strategic defence ties with Riyadh, longstanding geopolitical alignments, and economic dependencies are generating external expectations that Islamabad may back its traditional Gulf ally if hostilities escalate. At the same time, internal sectarian sensitivities and domestic security concerns are making outright involvement increasingly risky, pushing the country towards a posture of cautious neutrality that is becoming harder to sustain.
These pressures were reflected in recent remarks by Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, who met Shia religious scholars from the Ahl-e-Tasheeh community. According to a participant who shared details on condition of anonymity, the conversation focused on national unity, sectarian harmony, and Pakistan’s position amid intensifying regional rivalries. Munir’s central message was unequivocal: “Sab Se Pehle Toh Pakistan Hai" — Pakistan comes first.

No Tanks, No Pageantry: Pakistan Cancels Republic Day Parade As Oil Crisis Deepens Amid Gulf War
https://www.timesnownews.com/world/asia ... -153868586
The Pakistan government is implementing a range of austerity measures, including reduced work hours and fuel allowances, to manage the economic impact of global fuel supply disruptions amid Middle Eastern conflicts.
This is not the first major decision that Pakistan has taken amid the deepening oil crisis. Last week, Sharif announced a series of austerity steps, including a four‑day work week for government offices, requiring 50 percent of staff to work from home, cutting fuel allowances for official vehicles by half, grounding up to 60 percent of the government fleet and closing all schools for two weeks to conserve fuel amid the global oil crisis, Arab News reported.
“Ministries, divisions, and departments are advised to mark the [Republic Day] occasion in a solemn and respectful manner, ensuring that the essence of the day is preserved despite the scaled‑down celebrations,” Sharif's office said.

Sindh Referendum Demand Rocks UN, Pakistan Accused of Repression
PGurus:
Mar 21, 2026
A major development at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) as a Sindhi leader has demanded a UN-supervised referendum for Sindh, directly accusing Pakistan of systematic repression, enforced disappearances, and denial of basic rights.
This raises serious questions:
• Is Sindh heading toward a self-determination movement similar to Balochistan?
• How deep is the human rights crisis inside Pakistan?
• Could international pressure reshape Pakistan’s internal fault lines?
The issue connects with broader concerns raised globally regarding minority persecution, enforced disappearances, and political suppression in regions like Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Barrick Mining is postponing its huge copper and gold project in Pakistan in response to the war in the Middle East and deteriorating security situation in the south Asian country.
The decision comes after the Toronto-based group last month launched a review of the Reko Diq development following a rise in separatist violence in the province of Balochistan where the mine is located.
“Following the preliminary findings of the review and in light of the subsequent escalation in security issues in Pakistan and the Middle East, the company considers it necessary to further assess the potential impacts and delivery strategy,” the miner told its Pakistani equity partners and the project’s local operator this week in correspondence seen by the FT.
“As a result, development activity will be slowed, with a corresponding reduced project spend, for a 12-month period commencing in July,” it added, while the review period and slower pace of development “will impact previously stated budgets and timelines”.
The delay means first production will not begin until 2029 at the earliest, they said. Prior to the review, first production at the mine had been expected to start in 2028, a timeline its local partners privately considered ambitious.
The war in Iran has made it difficult for supplies of fuel and mining equipment to reach the mine from the Gulf, and rising oil and gas prices are forcing a review of the total project spend on the $9bn project, two of the people said.
Barrick has estimated that the mine could generate more than $70bn in free cash flow over 37 years. Reko Diq, which is in western Balochistan near the Afghan and Iranian borders, will produce as much as 400,000 tonnes of copper and 500,000 ounces of gold a year once both phases of the project are complete, according to Barrick.

India First Debate: Jaishankar Slams Pak As 'Dalal Nation' Over Its Mediator Claims In West Asia War
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar told an all-party meeting that 'India is not a Dalal nation, we are not a country of fixers and middlemen,' according to sources. His remarks came in response to opposition leaders raising concerns about Pakistan positioning itself as a mediator between the United States and Iran amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. Jaishankar's statement underscored India's balanced and self-assured approach that does not rely on desperation or seeking geopolitical rent. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had posted a message calling for peace, overlooking his country's own track record of conflict in regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. According to sources, India has remained multi-aligned, seeking peace and offering assistance if required, but asking countries to sort out their differences themselves. The minister's strong statement highlights India's refusal to adopt Pakistan's approach of leveraging mediation for financial gains.

Pakistan's Lyari Demands 80% of Dhurandhar Earnings, Locals Say India Will Provide the Funds
Residents of Lyari in Karachi are demanding a share of the box office earnings from Dhurandhar: The Revenge, with some calling for up to eighty percent of the film's revenue to be redirected toward local development. The demand comes after the Ranveer Singh-starrer crossed one thousand crore rupees globally. Locals argue that since the film capitalised on Lyari's name, identity and real-life gang networks as its backdrop, the community deserves a tangible financial benefit. One resident remarked that roads and infrastructure could only improve if India paid, sparking widespread amusement and debate online. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film also stars Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt. Neither the director nor the producers have responded to the viral demands so far.

America refuses support to India in case of war against Pakistan: Report
The US has also refused to isolate Pakistan diplomatically in the event of an Indo-Pak crisis.
The United States of America has conveyed to India that, despite New Delhi being a strategic partner, Washington won’t unconditionally support if a conflict breaks out against Pakistan, said a report by the Sunday Guardian. According to critics, this again underlines the fact that the US cannot be a reliable partner for India in times of military conflicts. Notably, even during Operation Sindoor, the United States had refused to back India while claiming to mediate the ceasefire. Critics say that this is one of the main reasons India chose partners like France and Russia for defence collaborations, rather than America.
According to the report, the US officials have conveyed to India that its decision will be guided by Washington’s national interests. The officials made it clear that while India sits at the centre of America’s Indo-Pacific policy, New Delhi shouldn’t expect unconditional backing in a conflict scenario with Pakistan. It said that the US is prioritising a rule-based international order over supporting hard-nosed national priorities.

And this report is Written by Pakistan-based journalist Faseeh Mangi who is also a Bureau chief of Bloomberg in Pakistan.

Bilal Bin Saqib, a 35yo self-made crypto entrepreneur from Lahore, Pakistan. Ex-social entrepreneur (founded water charity, Covid meal drive), he became Pakistan's crypto czar—advising the PM, heading the Crypto Council.
He used personal ties (like with Binance's CZ, whom he got as advisor) to host Trump's World Liberty Financial team, pitch stablecoins/tokenizing minerals at Mar-a-Lago events, and align Pakistan with Trump's crypto push. Result: thawed US ties, better trade deals, Iran mediator role, rebranding Pakistan as a digital asset hub.

Could somebody help me with translating the bolded and underlined bit. Thank you in advance.
Re: Terroristan - March 31, 2022
@Lisa - The phrase you've highlighted is a classic bit of "diplospeak" for a conditional partnership:
"Rule-based international order": This is the U.S. way of saying they will prioritize international laws, treaties, and their own neutral standing over picking a side based purely on a "strategic partnership."
"Hard-nosed national priorities": In this context, it refers to India's specific military or strategic goals—specifically the expectation that the U.S. should unconditionally back India in a conflict with Pakistan.
The "Plain English" Translation: The U.S. is signaling that while India is a partner, they won't give a "blank check" for military support. They are telling New Delhi: "Our global interests and the international 'rules' we follow come before your specific national conflict."
A quick look at the Zee News report. It mentions that this "rule-based" stance is exactly why India often prefers defense ties with France or Russia, as they are seen as more reliable during a crisis.

1- Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir's daughter Mahnoor married her first cousin (the son of General Munir's brother) Abdul Rehman on December 26 at Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi in a high-profile ceremony.

.Liaquat Ali Khan (First Prime Minister): Before his well-known marriage to Begum Ra'ana, Pakistan's first Prime Minister was married to his cousin, Jehangira Begum, in 1918. This was an arranged marriage set up by his parents
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (Former Prime Minister & President): Bhutto's first marriage took place in 1943 to his cousin, Shireen Amir Begum, who was ten years his senior
.Shehbaz Sharif (Current Prime Minister): The current Prime Minister's first marriage was to his cousin, Nusrat Shehbaz, in 1973. They share several children, including Hamza Shehbaz, who has previously served as the Chief Minister of Punjab
--- Of course As far as Army:
Zia-ul-Haq (6th COAS & President)was married to his first cousin, Shafiq Zia. (daughter of his mother's sister). According to traditional custom
General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani (8th COAS & ISI ): is also married to his first cousin—specifically, the daughter of his maternal uncle.
Of course, )not every army chief married a first cousin. General Qamar Javed Bajwa (10th COAS) did not marry a cousin - he married the daughter of a fellow military man, Major General Ijaz Amjad), His son, Saad Siddique Bajwa, had a high-profile marriage to Mahnoor Sabir, the daughter of Sabir "Mithu" Hameed—a very close, longtime family friend and business associate.
General Pervez Musharraf (7th COAS & President): Musharraf did not marry a cousin; his wife, Sehba, was from a different family background. Reports from Pakistan: Eldest brother of Pakistani terror group Jaish e Muhammad’s Founder Masood Azhar died earlier today. Muhammad Tahir Anwar’s funeral took place at Jamia Masjid Usman O Ali in Bahawalpur of Pakistan’s Punjab. Did anyone notice Masood Azhar at the funeral?
Re: Terroristan - March 31, 2022
My question too. Given that the US is abandoning adherence to even whatever rules of the rules-based international order it ever did recognize, this piece sounds more like satire than news.

Under the Geneva Conventions what Trump is proposing are war crimes. What “rules-based international order”?Donald J. Trump&
@realDonald Trump The United States of America is in serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran. Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately "Open for Business," we will conclude our lovely "stay" in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet "touched." This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime's 47 year "Reign of
Terror." Thank you for your attention to this matter. President
DONALD J. TRUMP
