Understanding the US - Again
Re: Understanding the US - Again
Quite the trick this one enabled by loose standards. Looks like this was discovered only because the dog's owner posted a picture on social media.
Dog voted in California election
Dog voted in California election
A dog was registered to vote by its owner, who submitted a ballot in the pet’s name in California's 2021 gubernatorial recall election.
Re: Understanding the US - Again
If you deep-dive into what happened in the Yourex case,
(a) the 2021 dog vote was not detected but the 2022 dog ballot was detected, and rejected.
(b) the information Yourex provided for her dog did not match any records in the state's DMV,Social Security Number, Death Index and Felon Status automated checks; at which point the registration is flagged as "unverified" and requires a human to manually review the registration. The Orange Country Board of Elections did not do this manual check in 2021. In 2022, their procedures were updated, and the ballot was rejected.
(c) Laura Yourex, apart from posting on social media, also self-reported to the Orange County Board of Elections. Nevertheless she faces up to six years in prison, if convicted of voter fraud.

Maybe it is the increased movement away from the church and it's traditions that is causing this? Although it has not happened in the EU despite a major swing away from the church. I think it's a temporary blip and also harkens to the gawdy and tawdry aspects in American culture. The current leadership is also a product of WWE and tabloid television..A_Gupta wrote: ↑05 Apr 2026 21:45 The changing norms in American politics, as summarized by CoPilot:Just FYI, all the Protestant and Catholic churches teach against the use the profanity.1. Historical baseline: profanity was once rare and news‑making
For most of the 20th century and early 2000s, open profanity from national politicians was treated as a breach of decorum. A famous example illustrates this:
In 2010, then–Vice President Joe Biden whispered “This is a big f‑‑‑ing deal” to President Obama during the Affordable Care Act signing. It caused a major stir precisely because such language from a top official was unusual.
This era assumed:
* Public political speech should maintain formality
* Profanity was a private‑sphere thing, not for microphones
2. The shift: profanity becomes intentional, not accidental
By the mid‑2010s and especially during and after the Trump presidency, profanity became strategic rather than accidental.
Recent reporting highlights:
President Donald Trump regularly uses profanity at rallies and in press interactions, sometimes multiple times in a single event.
* Examples include recounting his “shithole countries” remark and referring to alleged criminals as “sons of b‑‑‑‑‑s.”
* Trump also became the first U.S. president to publicly drop an F‑bomb in remarks to reporters in 2025.
* Senior officials in his administration, such as War Secretary Pete Hegseth, have used profanity in formal addresses to military leadership.
This marks a clear break from earlier norms: profanity is now used deliberately to signal toughness, authenticity, or rejection of “political correctness.”
3. It’s bipartisan now
While the shift is often associated with Republicans, reporting shows Democrats also increasingly use profanity in public contexts:
* Journalists note that Democrats have made a “conscious effort” to show they can curse too.
* Members of both parties now use profanity on social media, in interviews, and occasionally in speeches.
* The Associated Press describes it as a bipartisan trend: “vulgarity is now in vogue.”
4, Why the norm changed
Several explanations appear in recent analyses:
* Authenticity signaling: Voters often read profanity as “real talk,” especially in populist politics.
* Polarization: As politics becomes more confrontational, language follows.
* Social media: Platforms reward blunt, emotional, and transgressive phrasing.
* Erosion of institutional decorum: The old boundaries of “statesmanlike” behavior have weakened.
5. Current norms in practice
Based on recent reporting, the norms today look like this:
* Profanity in rallies: Common and largely accepted by supporters
* Profanity in formal addresses: Still notable, but no longer shocking
* Profanity in press gaggles: Increasingly normal
* Profanity on social media: Widespread among politicians
* Profanity in official documents or prepared speeches: Still rare and generally avoided
* Profanity directed at individuals: More controversial, but happens regularly

Looks like the GOP is going to fracture after the 2026 Nov elections. All indications are that they are going to lose big in the midterms. This is a redux of the Democrat party fracturing after their 2024 loss. Neither of the two parties has any leadership to talk about, given that the Dems' answer to JD Vance is the greasy Newsom.

I gotta say though that Americans, even conservatives are not beyond serious introspection and self criticism. Everyone from RFK and Tulsi to Tucker and MJT and Candace Owens, they will change their tune when they think their principles are at stake. Even Alex Jones was on an anti trump rant a few days ago

Worth reading in full, some evidence of a modicum of sophistication in politics.
It should be clear however that remembrance is often tinged with nostalgia that affects accuracy of recall.
I took a course in sociology once given by a Marxist professor. He told me that in the 1960s and 1970s Latin Americans would spit on Americans they chanced upon. And this was in the time of the Peace Corps and USAID.
This self discovery articulated in the article is nothing novel. But remarkable insight.
Of course he gets in a comment on India. No sir China, Putin and Modi are not awaiting approval. Least of all Modi
The new world, the USSR and China have completed their genocides, the Indians haven't even begun.

2026 is definitely hard for GOP, but they will not fracture. Presidential elections usually are a unifying cause for GOP and I suspect the same will happen for 2028 when they all fall in line once GOP convention gets going.Vayutuvan wrote: ↑06 Apr 2026 04:33 Looks like the GOP is going to fracture after the 2026 Nov elections. Things are reversed for DEMs. They might do well in 2026, but I doubt they will have an easier road to 2028, considering the DEMs' popularity is in the toilet, even among people who identify themselves as Democrats. If they handle candidate selection the way they did in 2016 or 2024 by fudging the nominations, then they will 100% lose in 2028. I would be surprised if newsom will emerge as their nominee in 2028, considering he is not even leading the early list, but stranger things have happened.

A new CNN poll reveals how people mad at both parties see the midterms
https://edition.cnn.com/2026/04/03/poli ... s-midterms
Americans’ views of both the Democratic and Republican parties remain deeply negative, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS. And in an election year that may turn on which party voters see as the lesser of two evils, the Democrats hold an early advantage.
In 2024, the Republicans had a huge advantage with the double haters.About one-quarter of the public holds a negative view of both parties – so-called double haters. Voters in that group prefer the Democrats in the upcoming midterms by 31 points.

All this happened about 50 km from Isfahan.

The regime failed to capture him and is now reportedly going after locals in the Kuh-e-Siyah area, trying to label them as “CIA collaborators” to save face.

Re: Understanding the US - Again
Kuh-e-Siyah is in Kurdistan province of Iran. Isfahan is 600+ kilometers away. The F15e may have come down in Khuzestan which is in a different direction.
Al-jazeera reported: “ Following the downing of the F-15E, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) cordoned off some parts of the mountainous southwestern Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province because they believed the airman went down in the vicinity.”
So don’t trust any of these stories. At a minimum look at a map first.

Top medical experts and legal voices testified, including Dr Peter McCullough, Dr Jordan Vaughn, Dr James Thorp, Dr Joel Wallskog, Attorney Aaron Siri and Hawaii Governor Josh Green. Dr McCullough presented findings from a large autopsy series, stating that in 73.9% of examined post-vaccine deaths, mRNA COVID vaccines were considered the likely cause, a claim that has sparked intense debate in the medical community.

Lawrence Ferlinghetti
1919-2021
"Bird With Two Right Wings"
And now our government
a bird with two right wings
flies on from zone to zone
while we go on having our little fun & games
at each election
as if it really mattered who the pilot is
of Air Force One
(They're interchangeable, stupid!)
While this bird with two right wings
flies right on with its corporate flight crew
And this year its the Great Movie Cowboy in the cockpit
And next year its the great Bush pilot
And now its the Chameleon Kid
and he keeps changing the logo on his captains cap
and now its a donkey and now an elephant
and now some kind of donkephant
And now we recognize two of the crew
who took out a contract on America
and one is a certain gringo wretch
who's busy monkeywrenching
crucial parts of the engine
and its life-support systems
and they got a big fat hose
to siphon off the fuel to privatized tanks
And all the while we just sit there
in the passenger seats
without parachutes
listening to all the news that's fit to air
over the one-way PA system
about how the contract on America
is really good for us etcetera
As all the while the plane lumbers on
into its postmodern
manifest destiny
"Bird With Two Right Wings" is a political poem by Lawrence Ferlinghetti that satirizes the two-party system in the United States, suggesting that both major political parties are essentially the same ("interchangeable") and lean to the right.
Re: Understanding the US - Again
That mRNA vaccine stuff:
The History of the Study
The paper, titled "A Systematic Review of Autopsy Findings in Deaths After COVID-19 Vaccination," has had a controversial path through the scientific literature:
The Lancet Preprint (2023): It was first uploaded to The Lancet’s preprint server (SSRN) in July 2023. However, it was removed within 24 hours by the editors, who stated that the study’s "conclusions are not supported by the study methodology."
Publication (2024): After being rejected or removed by several journals, the study was eventually published in Forensic Science International in mid-2024.
The Data: The authors reviewed 325 autopsy cases and concluded that 240 (73.9%) of those deaths were "directly due to or significantly contributed to by COVID-19 vaccination."
2. Major Scientific Criticisms
Mainstream medical experts and public health organizations (such as the CDC and WHO) have raised several "red flags" regarding how that 73.9% figure was calculated:
Selection Bias
The study did not look at a random sample of all people who died after vaccination. Instead, it was a systematic review of existing case reports. These are papers written by doctors specifically because they already suspected a link between the vaccine and the death. By only looking at "suspicious" cases, the 73.9% figure becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy rather than a reflection of the general population.
Adjudication Bias
The deaths were "adjudicated" (judged) by three physicians, including Dr. McCullough. In many instances, the original pathologists who performed the autopsies did not conclude the vaccine was the cause. McCullough’s team re-evaluated the same data and reached a different, more certain conclusion. Critics argue this introduces significant "confirmation bias," where the researchers find the result they are already looking for.
+1
Causality vs. Temporality
A major point of contention is whether a death occurring after a vaccine means it was caused by the vaccine.
Study Claim: Many deaths occurred within 14 days, suggesting a causal link.
Medical Rebuttal: Correlation does not equal causation. In a global population where billions were vaccinated, thousands of people will naturally die of unrelated causes (heart attacks, strokes, etc.) shortly after vaccination by sheer coincidence of timing.
3. Conflict of Interest
Critics have pointed out that several of the study’s authors, including Dr. McCullough, are affiliated with The Wellness Company, a firm that sells "vaccine detox" supplements. This creates a potential financial incentive to highlight vaccine risks, which is why many medical journals view the findings with caution.
4. The Global Context
To put this in perspective, independent monitoring systems (like the CDC’s VAERS in the US or the Yellow Card system in the UK) and large-scale population studies involving millions of people have consistently shown that:
Fatalities are extremely rare: While serious side effects like myocarditis (heart inflammation) or VITT (blood clotting) exist, they occur in a tiny fraction of a percent of doses.
Risk-Benefit: For the vast majority of the population, the risk of death or long-term disability from a COVID-19 infection remains significantly higher than the risk from the vaccine.
The Verdict: The 73.9% figure is mathematically accurate within the specific group of cases the authors chose to look at, but the medical community largely considers it an "over-attribution." It is not representative of the risk to the general public.

Code: Select all
Event Estimated Rate (Approx.)
Confirmed mRNA vaccine fatality Less than 1 per 1,000,000 doses
Serious Allergic Reaction 2–5 per 1,000,000 doses
Myocarditis (Post-mRNA Vaccine) 2–10 per 1,000,000 doses
Death from COVID-19 (Unvaccinated) ~10,000 per 1,000,000 infections*

Actually the rot about mRNA vaccines illustrates perfectly what is wrong with the USA. It is crucial to understand that at least 40% of Americans cannot understand my last two posts.
Re: Understanding the US - Again
The polio vaccine should be uncontroversial. So a comparison may be useful.
Code: Select all
Condition Risk of Paralysis Estimated Fatality Rate
Wild Polio Infection 1 in 200 (0.5%) ~1 in 2,000 to 4,000 infections
Oral Vaccine (OPV) 1 in 2,700,000 ~1 in 50,000,000+ doses
Injected Vaccine (IPV) Zero Effectively Zero

His followers find him to be playing higher-dimensional chess, executing some deep plan which no one can understand. At most they may say this most intelligent man in human history has been misadvised or lied to.Manish_Sharma wrote: ↑10 Apr 2026 15:52 Strangest theory that trump is deliberately losing the war to bring usa on top:

Just IN
US GDP growth DROPS sharply from 4.4% to 0.5% in Q4 2025, far below the expected +2.8%.
=> Meanwhile, India continues to remain one of the FASTEST-GROWING major economies.

Re: Understanding the US - Again
Win or lose is immaterial if the war was sold to the White House as an enabler of this shift. Its no secret that there's been a push to sell US oil and gas to Asia.Manish_Sharma wrote: ↑10 Apr 2026 15:52 Strangest theory that trump is deliberately losing the war to bring usa on top:

Added later - On reflection, this type of strategy would be a broadening (to more countries) of the previous strategy to make it difficult for India to access hydrocarbon and later nuclear energy.

The US lost its naval presence and military bases in the Persian Gulf region; its entire inventory of stand-off munitions has been nearly exhausted, along with its air defenses, which have been proven woefully ineffective.
This is what decisive strategic defeat looks like.

Another Dem congress member Eric Swalwell apparently raped 4 young women and this guy when he speaks behaves like he is right & correct all the time. Most of the political tribe in US are of dubious ethics (like billy boy clinton who converted the white house into his private brothel) and no one should trust such characters. BTW tis from a left wing ABC news link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZlwgHqOri8

Re: Understanding the US - Again
they got too greedy.
they had already colonized venezuela with relative ease and grabbed their oil, as well as, control over the oil, deciding who has access and who does not, to venezuelan crude resources
Overconfidence and geopolitical gluttony for power did them in because they tried a similar tactic with eyeraan, no matter how these clowns dressed it up, it was a serious bid to colonize eyeraan, grab the oil and set themselves up as the largest owner of oil and possibly gas reserves, with unopposed geopolitical traction over these resources
Their initial objective was to neuter cheen's energy access and also nuke their economic prowess for some time to come, re establish not only the unassailable hegemony, but also cement the indisputable dominance of the petro dollar. trump wants to control world oil supply, since that's one monopoly he can use to counter cheen monopoly in RE Minerals.. He will try to get as much oil under amriki control as he can..
That is why they targeted cheen's largest, and also what the cheen thought of as their "own" solidly locked in energy resources
They had, earlier, already done in europe and cut off europe's easy access to plentiful, dependable, and economically viable russian oil and gas.
using a tied goat (ukraine and that mutt zelenski) as bait the amrikis sucked in europe to defend "freedom", while in actual fact, the amrikis were targeting a larger, and what they considered as the most dangerous predator - Putin and his Russia.
goats are expendable but the europeans were stampeded by the amrikis into fruitlessly funding zelenski, while the amrikis hoped like hell that Putin would be overcome by zelenski using amriki weapons that the europeans paid through their noses to buy and give to zelenski
The amrikis tried to replace russian oil and gas by their own oil and gas which they hoped they would be able to sell at inflated prices to the dumb europeans
europe was ticking along like a fine swiss watch but now it seems to be ticking like a time bomb, with rapidly rising energy prices, affecting their entire domestic and social ecosystems across europe, heavily burdened as they already are with the tsunami of violent migrants
europe is now beset with uncertainty and the abject fear of a russian attack which they cannot repel but panicked recollections still fresh in their civilizational memory, of the horrific revenge that was visited upon them after the germans tried their genocide tactic on the russians but failed miserably and the rightly vengeful russians, who beat them back from the outskirts of moscow, to all the way back to berlin, butchering germans wherever they found them.
The killing of germans and some europeans continued sporadically for over two years after the WWII until the germans were genocided out of many areas in europe and no one had the testimonials to say even one single word, not the britshits, the amrikis or whoever. europe's greatest nightmare is that the Russians haven't finished their housekeeping chores as yet and the Russians may well have a very valid point, especially considering what was so deliberately and willfully done to them
these eurotrash, like the amrikis, have lost the will to fight, used as they are to a "peace" under the nuke umbrella that was never tested, and now they have become fat, placid and allegedly philosophical in their taken for granted comforts
Now the shoe is on the other foot with the europeans flatly refusing to help the amrikis in their eyeraan war, because of their great fear of what their jihadi migrants can and will do them, if they entered the war against eyeraan
Getting out of eyeraan will be far worse and even more humiliating than running away from afghanistan
the amrikis seem to have failed miserably in their desperate bid to establish the empire v2.0.
