Chandrayaan-2 Big Discovery: India Finds Possible Underground Ice on Moon

Scientists working with Indian Space Research Organisation say data from the Chandrayaan-2 mission shows possible subsurface ice near the Moon’s south pole. Researchers used the orbiter’s Dual Frequency Synthetic Aperture Radar (DFSAR) to study permanently shadowed craters.

One crater inside Faustini showed especially strong signs of buried ice beneath the lunar surface.
