PM Modi (at GRSE, Kolkata) this week highlighted the shipping and shipbuilding sector as strategic, and also a large employment avenue. So I took a look at the current status and plans:

A great article by ORF: https://www.orfonline.org/expert-speak/ ... lding-push

Another one by IBEF: https://www.ibef.org/research/case-stud ... ket-trends

The sarkar's goals by 2047:

-20% market share (right now 1%)
- Be in the top-5 countries (right now 16th)
- Indian-flagged fleet that is 70% indigenous.
