Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
Can we please get a confirmation as to how many of the terrorists have been captured and exactly how may have been killed?
Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
someone waving white piece of cloth from nariman house. noone know who that is..
Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
A white hand kerchief being waved from the window of Nariman house - second/third floor. Not sure if this is a terrorist or a hostage yet.
Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
Some pictures from a telugu daily:

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
dont be too hard on them. they are merely kept for crowd control and its adequate when
paired with police having tear gas, lathis and riot shields.
the mum police seen more near the sites all had ak47s and bpjs.

Even TOI says that In CST Cops were outmatched by the weapons terrorists were carrying .There SLR's were no match to sophisticated AK -47's and 56' s By the time cops could react terrorist had already killed 9 people ..Victor wrote:Can't believe I'm seeing this in 2009 almost. Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
Wow - finally some sense into CNN-IBN. They are specifically saying that they do not/ are not going to show/report on live action and compromise the NSG action.
Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
imo the NSG have merely taken up a strong position on the roof to pressurize the pigs inside
and let them know death is on their doorstep. the heli hovering close by after dropping people
off was also a pressure tactic.
a "final assault" would have long since cleared the building out.
interesting to note Mi17 was used not the IN sea kings.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
i notice 3 trends in some segment of the western media :
1) a strong attempt to portray the terrorists as being local to India. Check out article : "Clues suggest homegrown terrorists in India attack" where the contributing author is one Muneeza Naqvi (sounds pakistani) and no real Indian journalist.
2) Ignorant "terrorism experts" and "analysts" around the world giving their views and passing it off as fact. Most probably never even set foot in India in their life.
3) an attempt to differentiate between an al-queda terrorist attack from this attack. The message being that an al-queda attack only happens in a western country which is terrorism. if it happens in another country, its not an al-queda attack and not really terrorism.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
I was listening to a discussion in TimesNow yesterday where a British counter-terror expert Bob Ayers participated. He said that India cannot jump the gun and accuse Pakistan. He also said that even if some Pakistani was implicated it could not mean the Pakistani Government was involved just as nobody accused Saudi Arabia or Jamaica when some Saudis were involved in 9/11 or some Jamaicans were involved in some British incidents. UK will never let go of its protege, Pakistan.
Nobody countered him saying that India has a long history of dealing with Pakistan and since 1947 the Pakistani Government has been directly involved in all operations and we have proof.
The right response came from an Israeli, Kedar by name, who said that Pakistan has to be dismembered.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
Same thought I had. I believe that a large part of the police force sent to Mumbai is to prevent the terrorists from winning - by triggering riots. I believe Ahmedabad also has a strong police presence on the streets for the same reason.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
As an aside the brave Jawans and Officers are only remembered by Indian citizens and government on these occasions, asked to put their life on jeopardy, while their pay and status are worse than bus drivers that drive you up to the boarding gates of Jet Airways. Yes it is true the young officers in Army are paid less than drivers in civil companies.Arun_S wrote:

While I do not like the poet, these lines are very apt:

We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;

This clearly an attempt to show local and regional problem and that India & Pakistan have been unable to settle the issue between themselves and hence US should insert itself.Neshant wrote:i notice 3 trends in some segment of the western media :

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
As per NDTV, there are no hostages in Nariman house. It is all ops against the vermin there.
Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
An FBI team has left Los Angles to Mumbai to help with investigation.
Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
they should be immediately bussed away to goa and kept there , not allowed any access
to the sites except interviewing their own citizens.
this is about what we can expect if we sent a CBI team to NYC in aftermath of 911.
dont need no freakin FBI working to undermine our efforts and providing interviews to
media here.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
Looks like the Nariman House is on fire. The terrorists seem to have blown it up.
Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
Sorry for the OT post. But the US inserted itself to stop Parakram in 2002. This attack shows that the US has failed and it is up to India now. This should be the response to any conversation that comes up around this.SSridhar wrote:This clearly an attempt to show local and regional problem and that India & Pakistan have been unable to settle the issue between themselves and hence US should insert itself.Neshant wrote:i notice 3 trends in some segment of the western media :

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
Vishnu reports that the choppers had to fire on Chabad/Nariman House to neutralize a threat before the commandos could be dropped. This pic shows some bullet holes and what may be a turd. I doubt a hostage would be on his own after this long. NSG guy would have helmet.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
There are apparently 3 terrorists holed up in Taj and not just the 1 injured pig as reported earlier. This was informed by a brigadier to the CNN-IBN spokesperson.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
Those FBI twerps should not be allowed to inspect or have a look at the evidence.
Let them interview their citizens and that's it. No media interviews with the DDM also.
Those ba$tards will strategically lose evidence or leak dis-information to the media lapdogs.

I wish all these officials would stop giving conflicting nos on the Taj and Oberoi. its fine
to say "we are not sure but search is on". doesnt give a good impression to be giving out
new figure every hour by multiple sources.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
Initially Sharma and other ATS officers thought this was inter-gang-warfare hence the 'casual-ness' in the approach.
The reason why the Govt did not got for negotiations -
* ATS officers killed
* The jehadis were intent on causing maximum casualties and not interested in surrender
* Pressure on politicos to show a strong response.
First time India has responded with no-negotiation military hand.
All in all first-rate military commanded by third-rate politicians.
Jai Hind.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
I saw the public reaction on CNN-IBN. There is slow boiling anger at the frequent attacks on civilians and the impotent reaction of the politicians. Expect UPA to sit in opposition for the next 5 years.
India needs Modi to be at the helm. Advani is past his sell-by date.

Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
I am watching times now live, and they don't say that. The commandos have surrounded Nariman house. But I am worried that should the pigs blow up the house, we could loose a lot of commandos who are top of the building.Muppalla wrote:Are u sure?SSridhar wrote:Looks like the Nariman House is on fire. Re: Terror Attacks on Mumbai-II
They cannot blow the building as these are built with brick and mortar. They should bring a different kind of ammunition other than grenades. They could at the max create fire in a floor. It takes a longtime before the building comes down.
