I hardly believe if that delegation has anything to do with participating in the show.
These may be to collect intelligence about systems displayed and those that are being sold to India.

Very likely :)

In these days of global recession, the lot of them will probably be staying at the local commie's house

My thoughts exactly
The to-do list should be for:
Brochures
Info boards
Models (of aircrafts and other military systems)
Flight display
Static display (of aircrafts and other military systems)
Questions and answers
perhaps we need a separate thread for this.
As to what aircraft brochures and info boards are must get.
What answers are must get
Like
Does LCA carry a gun inbuilt or a pylon needs to sacrificed for carrying gun pod?

maz,
can you make such a thread and the request for such info?

K prasad,
how was your experience at jayanagar?

LCA is supposed to have a internal mounted gun.. But I dont know if it already is there in any of the PV's/LSP's flying..
Will surely ask at AeroIndia..

I too second the idea of "To do & questions for AeroIndia" thread.. Shiv or one of the mods can create that please.. Otherwise people can post their questions here -- I can make a note and ask them at AeroIndia (though I may mostly visit Indian stalls for enquiries... even if that means I end up with less of glossy brochures)

Vintage IAF Aircraft on display at Aero India 2009 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

16:55 IST
Amidst the thunderous din of the modern-day supersonic fighter jets at the Aero India 2009, aviation enthusiasts can also savour up a slice from the IAF's past. Adding a touch of history from its glorious past would be two of the IAF's phased-out trainer aircraft, the De Havilland DH82 Tigermoth and Harvard aircraft at the static display during the show.

The Tigermoth was a two-seat, single bay, biplane. The primary trainer for the Royal Air Force (RAF) during the Second World War, it was the basic trainer in the IAF from 1940. It was replaced by the HT-2.

The Harvard on the other hand was a single-engine advance trainer aircraft used to train fighter pilots of the RAF and other Air Forces of the Commonwealth during World War II. The Harvards were phased out in 1973 in IAF.

Request for Vicky Iyer and all the others who will be visiting Aero India.

Could you kindly take high rez pictures of posters and videos displays at the stalls of the BEL, DRDO, HAL, ADA and other desi outfits as shown in the link below:
http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/media/DefExpo06/BEL/

Naturally, pictures of models, data sheets and brochure scans are most helpful.

We will set up albums where users can upload pics.

Thanks and enjoy.

SaiK,

Whats wrong with Mig-35 build quality? One can not decipher from the picture. Besides, we need to respect others who are decades ahead of us
in every imaginable field. Be it friend or foe. Be humble then our build quality will look even better.

time to sharpen my claws. there is plenty of dust and sand here this time - no rains for a long time. noted a lot of dust on canopy in tejas static display.

I wonder if the ati adhunik eurojet200 equipped typhoon "designed to german precision" will
face "issues" in this very desi env ? and how much TLC they will need to be up and running
everyday? keep one eye open on that. nothing ever works PnP from northern europe to Yindia  will they need a AC hanger and overpressure air system to keep dogs, flies, heat, dust and yindoos out

IAI ELTA showcase CAEWS At Aero India 2009

February 8, 2009 Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is sending its Gulfstream G-550-based conformal airborne early warning and control (CAEW) system to the Aero India 2009 expo in Bangalore.

Developed by IAI's ELTA Systems subsidiary, the CAEWS has to date been ordered by Israel and Singapore, with the first Israeli platform being delivered in February 2008 and the second following in May 2008.

Singapore has ordered four such platforms that will be delivered through to 2010.

The CAEWS is equipped with the ELTA-built EL/W-2085 system, uses AESA antennae at the nose and tail, with large slab-sided arrays on the fuselage sides. Together, these give 360° airspace coverage without the complication and drag of a rotodome above the fuselage. Each CAEWS carries six operators, and also has ESM antennae under the tail and wingtips, and above the nose, with a SATCOM array atop the vertical tail. Radar, ESM and COMINT data is collected and fused to give a fully correlated and synthetic air situation picture. The aircraft’s structural, aerodynamic and power modifications, including two additional generators and a low-drag liquid cooling system, are all installed on the aircraft by Gulfstream Aerospace prior to delivery to ELTA, and the mission sensors/management suite is then installed in country by IAI’s Bedek Aviation Group.

The CAEWS offers an unrefuelled mission endurance of 9 hours when operating at an altitude of 41,000 feet (12,500 metres) and 185km (100nm) from its home base.

Jagan,
the HT-2 at IISc has been cleaned up and the barbed wire fencing around it replaced with a nice low railing for IISc centenary celebrations. If you are at b'lore, tell me if you are interested in some snaps. I tried to lure shivji for this but he quite politely slipped off. Something for an aero-India warm up or wind up. :)

There will special Vajra Volvo buses operating to and fro from Yelahanka. I am also going on one of those. I think a ticket must cost Rs 50-75 from Majestic.

If you are coming on 13th please do meet me. Would like see some BR faces!

That'll be great if the special buses are there like last time. I got worried because there was no mention of these buses in any article.

Anyone going by Vayu Vajra on Sat? Would love to meet with them.

Krish,
Sorry buddy. I could have come on 13th but am taking many of my "defence ignorant" friends to Aero-India to make them know about our men in uniform and they are free only weekends. :(
