My rationale behind having 2 division strong force from current Strike Corps organization;

1) The Strike Corps as a complete entity is as fast as its slowest element, that is the vanilla Infantry Division

2) Related to 1), India will not have the resources to mechanize the whole vanilla Inf Div and the remaining vanilla Inf Brigades in a RAPID in each Strike Corps

3) But maybe, over the next 15-20 years, India can mechanize the RAPID in each Strike Corps upto 100%. If we can afford more, upto 70%.

4) Above I say, if India can afford more, mechanize upto 70% because I would like an Inf Brigade to be Air Assault oriented in each Strike Corps.
I feel this is a tall wish. Hence, few posts above I wanted to know how many helicopter assets are required to deploy and sustain a Light Infantry Brigade. (I would not have stated this otherwise)

As per above, I believe the numbers lost will be substituted by firepower to a certain extent. But more importantly making the pruned Strike Corps more mobile.

Regards,
Kiran

On the day of counter attack by PA, 2 of the Strike Forces let loose through the gaps created by Battle Groups. Over the next few days, they envelop the attacking force in a pincer.
How will we know where PA will counter attack (beyond doubt) to move our strike elements?

A sure way to send a chill down TSP spine is to burn their military hardware, if IA along with IN and IAF can manage that in 1-2 weeks time, not focusing too much on enemy territory or body count; 70% of hardware destroyed will take them a
decade or more to recover militarily - peace prevails in subcontinent

to that extent IA should have precise intelligence of enemy positions, assume air superiority and hence cover by IAF is NOT a given (IAF sanitization can take time)

fly drones that are man portable, and have a range of 30km, 1hr endurance, data linked to WLR or BFSR, a unit head can see the real time video feed on a screen, multiple such feeds are collated and sent to the battle zone commander (for the bigger picture)

target coordinates can be transferred to the shoulder fired missiles, to smart munitions that can be launched from howitzers, tanks. Shoulder fired SAM should be able to down slow moving cruise missiles if and when coordinates are transferred from other assets (say AWACS)

place more emphasis on man portable anti heavy armor missiles, air/heli drop such equipped infantry as needed since our own heavy armor takes time to reach especially in a mountainous terrain

exploit night fighting capabilities, train for salvo attacks

light up the whole LOC, stretch the enemy defenses

use 7.62mm to burden the enemy with heavier body armor
