But setting aside that, the camo of the trousers is truly new for me. Usually, when people point out different camos, they are some variations of the usual camo. But I have never seen such camo being worn by anyone in India.

What kind of that trouser camo is ??

And is that USA written on the trousers of the second soldier ??
I mean what is that.....Is that something that marines left after the joint training ??

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Probably a local production of some camo patterned trousers. Brand is probably "USA Sports" judging by what is written on that. Looks like the SOG guys are pretty flexible with these things... Chaps look like they've been around the block a couple of times though... Good.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Aye.... the best camo in that picture is the air of nonchalance around those two gentlemen.JE Menon wrote:Chaps look like they've been around the block a couple of times though... Good.
Folks, they are **local cops** not military or even para-military. So if you really need to, compare them to the rotund chappies you see at your nearest local police station. Not with Petraeus' pretty boys. Any angst over "camo standardization" etc needs to consider this - militants too love standardized camo as was unfortunately proven during the Clinton visit at Chattisinghpura. The likes of Pankaj Mishra sold that point very well in the west, if anyone remembers. So there are always pros and cons.

Life for the SOG chaps sure seems tough. Seems to me that the moment a Kashmiri signs up for the SOG, he becomes a marked man. Quite lot of hits seem to have taken place on them and their families over the years.
Brave chaps all of 'em.

Yes, I noticed a few of those too. Some of these look hideous and very poorly made (I'll take the weirdest looking INSAS over any of these). The old ones look old, but at least they look solid and reliable.Aditya G wrote:Rare to see fixed butt AK-47:

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
in the 3rd picture from top posted by shyamD. the soldier in half sleeve t-shirt is wearing Woodland Shoes. It is available in showrooms and many people wear it. So is it being supplied in the armed forces too now?

@ Sunil Upa
It doesn't seem to be like any weapon normally seen in the pix of the army. Could it not be one of the captured weapons in this or some other operation being put to use ? The valley must surely be aflush with captured weapons of all kinds and makes. Let's see if someone can actually identify the gun.
