I somewhat disagree with the assertion that the Ameerkats can be made to reconcile with an army ruled Pukistan. That is water under the bridge. The generals are not coming back. It will take some time for the generals to accept this. You know the stages...denial, anger, acceptance. Currently, they are in the anger stage, soon it will turn into acceptance. On the contrary, after a pow wow and suitable , I expect them to accept the K-L bill. One of the key pts of the K-L bill, is that the civilain govt is supreme. I dont see the US shifting back from this hard learned premise. I also dont see Om baba vetoing the bill, and sending it back for review to Congress. So the pukis are going to accept the bill, TSPA generals only want heavier swiss accts, and therefore the . The price is not yet right.Rudradev wrote:
If K-L is signed by Obama, I predict the TSPA will go all out in pursuit of its three objectives, which are:
1) Make the Americans reconcile to an army-ruled Pakistan, by forcing them to give up on a civilian-ruled Pakistan as a failed experiment. Achieved by staging terrorist-attack scares (if not actual attacks) in Western countries, and by provoking hostilities with India so as to bring the civilian govt. of Pak firmly under TSPA control.

Rawalpindi shootout - in Pictures... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_pictures/8300440.stmThe assailants shot at the guards at one checkpoint, killing some of them, and then jumped out of the van and ran toward a second checkpoint, he said. Abbas said the guards were likely confused by the attackers' uniforms.
The heavily armed attackers then took up positions throughout the area, hurling at least one grenade and firing sporadically at security forces, said a senior military official inside the compound. The official, who said top army officials were trapped in the compound during the assault, spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
After a 45-minute gunfight, four of the attackers were killed, said Abbas, who told the private Geo news television channel the assault over and the situation ''under full control.''
But more than an hour later, gunshots rang out from the compound, and Abbas confirmed that two more gunmen had eluded security forces and slipped into the headquarters compound in Rawalpindi. The city is filled with security checkpoints and police roadblocks.
On Saturday evening, Abbas said the two men remained holed up in a room and were surrounded.
''We are trying to finish it at earliest, clear the area of terrorists and restore complete control,'' he told Dunya TV.
Abbas said six troops were killed and five wounded, one critically. Those killed including a brigadier and a lieutenant colonel, according to a military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

It's not over. They've entered GHQ and have hostages..so it seems from this source 3 minutes ago:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/ ... 61475.htmlRAWALPINDI, Pakistan — Militants were holding several security officers hostage inside Pakistan's army headquarters Saturday after they and others attacked the complex in an audacious assault on the country's most powerful institution.
The attack, which left at least 10 people dead, was the third major militant strike in Pakistan in a week and came as the government was planning an imminent offensive against Islamist militants in their strongholds in the rugged mountains along the border with Afghanistan.
It showed that the militants retain the ability to strike at the very heart of Pakistan's security apparatus despite recent military operations against their forces and the killing of Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud in a CIA drone attack in August.
An army statement said more than two terrorists were holding several officers hostage in a "security office building" inside the heavily fortified complex close to the capital.

May be we can nominate our good friend Pranav to travel to TSP to go look for good Pakbarian army officers. Who knows he may succeed before OJ can find the real killer..
Seriously, if a Pakbarian officer is a intelligent and not a fanatic, he is likely to be a real danger since he will be thinking with his brain and not his Mushy. The usual ones are doing a great job, funding, arming and training the very same animals who are now killing them...we need more them, alive and dead..

It's not a question of good or not good - more a matter of who you can work with, and who will be an obstacle. They created republic like Pak. The jihadi mentality of an entire army and state focused on wars is a direct result of the angloamerican power.Pranav wrote:

^^ Agreed.
Time to stop pretending to be dignified and neutral when faced with the news of the death of TSPA afsars.
You don't get to become a TSPA honcho if you have no ingrained yindoo-hatred and mass-murdering tendencies inside you.
As such, when any TSPA fauji gets a houristan dispatch, it is a joyous occasion for all of his possible victims (yup, that's you and me).
The desi news channels are 100% mum on the GHQ attack, though. Is it a 100% hoax, by any chance? Can bhuvan locate the damage in real time, just wondering....

Right. Now West is in financial crisis, and we may actually have plenty of friendly elements in Pak - Sindhis, Pashtuns, Baluchis, Shias, Balawaristanis etc. There might be sympathizers even amongst Punjabis. The question is how we can work with those who are amenable, towards a desirable solution. There could be opportunities in these fraught times.Acharya wrote: They created republic like Pak. I doubt any good or bad Pakbarian army officer wants peace with India unless he is a corrupt one running businesses on the side etc. The example given by Pranav (Alvi) was simply trying to oppose Taliban but that does not automatically mean he was for friendship with India. Perhaps all he wanted was an army thoroughly professional and dedicated to attacking India...
India should stop shedding tears for these barbarians and do all it can to keep the kettle boiling over there...until the GDP gap exceeds 10 times or more...the chance of TSP mending their ways is 0%
Desirable solution in the case of TSP is no TSP. If we cant nuke them ourselves, let them kill each other over next dozen years or so..

Yes, we have heard of the late Maj Gen Alvi and I like him - he died violently at the hands of "freedom fighters fighting for a root-cause" and Naipaul is banging his sister. So I like the late Maj Gen Alvi. He is all right

Is this story real or another of the ISI's nautanki to deflect the attention from the Kabul bombing.
Also, the story about senior officers being killed is from a unofficial source which looks like a planted mole. I doubt if if as much a damage has been done as they are trying to make it out to be. Fauji Abdul is trying to look like the poor victim of terrorism in need to F22 and Tomahawk missiles to kill the bad Abdul. In short, we need more, more and more from USA is the message.

So 4 were killed, 2 caught and now 5 inside are holding 15 people hostage. That means 11 people were packed inside that small van? Or there were 'terrorists' already inside GHQ in the first place. But then whats this thread all about...

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan – Pakistan's army says up to five militants are holding hostage between 10 and 15 security officers inside its headquarters.
Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas says no army or intelligence leaders are among those being held Saturday.
The militants slipped into the complex after they and others attacked it, sparking a gunbattle that killed four assailants and six soldiers.
Re: Terrorist Islamic Republic of Pakistan - September 15, 2009
That is why we should NOT condemn Pathan Freedom Fighters for their just war against GHQ. They did not target The Mall or Central Railway Station did they? They targeted only uniformed people who can fight back.Pranav wrote:Painting everybody black with a uniform brush will only unify the enemy and alienate potential allies. This isn't as bad as the 26/11 attacks, but looks like TSPA getting a little bit of hoist by its own petard.
Too bad we can't send in Barking Mutt to do a field interview with the terrorists.

The brigadier and Lt Col were passing through the gate and were killed. I don't think the Pathan freedom fighters crossed entered the GHQ completely. No news about the Lt Gen could be PDM reporting for Lt Col.

Re: Terrorist Islamic Republic of Pakistan - September 15, 2009
The longer this drags out, the more opportunity for Taliban to mobilize additional assets to converge on the area. Even if Rawalpindi is a heavily guarded city, there is still plenty of opportunity for insurgents to attack.
They could even stage diversionary attacks elsewhere.
