The blast looks exactly similar to the Meena bazaar blast at Peshawar. Again, a number of people are buried and so the death toll might go up.

Times Now reporting that TSP team playing a test in NZ faced 'racial abuse' by spectators.

Deeper probing reveals that an NZ MP, his son and their friends were drunk and started chanting 'Pakistani terrorists' at the TSP team.

Somehow, I don't see what is racial about 'Pakistani terrorists' but Sri Zaheer Abbas seems all upset and indignant about H&D loss. The spectators defense IMHO would be that since half the TSP team is flowing beards anyway, pray what is one limey mite supposed to think?

We call Aussie cricketers 'Kangaroos' and Newzealanders 'Kiwis' because these are commonly present icons of their country for the global mango abdul. By that logic 'terrorist' is a very apt name for people representing TS of P. One is okay and other is racist, hainji? Why the double standards and discrimination I ask?

Allah helped us with rain:yousuf
yousuf:"We were lucky. Allah helped us because of rain, otherwise it would be difficult to defend 208 on this track," he said. "In the first innings we made 223 on this track which was very less. After that we saved the game, I think it is a good performance."
is this guy crazy?
first he credits it to allah then he thinks they played well (to make the rain happen?).

Can India and Pakistan Fight Terror Together?

December, 15 2009
By Hoodbhoy, Pervez …………………….

Rational self-interest demands that India not aid jihadists. Imagine the consequences if central authority in Pakistan disappears or is sharply weakened. Splintered into a hundred jihadist lashkars, each with its own agenda and tactics, Pakistan's territory would become India's eternal nightmare. When Mumbai-II occurs - as it surely would in such circumstances - India's options in dealing with nuclear Pakistan would be severely limited.

The Indian Army would be powerless. As the Americans have discovered at great cost, the mightiest war machines on earth cannot prevent holy warriors from crossing borders. Internal collaborators, recruited from a domestic Muslim population that feels itself alienated from Hindu-India, would connive with jihadists. Subsequently, as Indian forces retaliate against Muslims - innocent and otherwise - the action-reaction cycle would rip the country apart. …………….

Z Mag
I disagree with Hoodbhoy’s conclusion that having the Islamic Republic of Pakistan run, by un-uniformed Islamic Jihadi’s is worse for India than the present state of affairs where the uniformed Islamic Jihadi’s of the armed forces either overtly via military dictatorships or covertly behind the burqua of a civilian rule, run things in Pakistan.

My take is premised on the conclusion that the malevolent intent of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is significantly more focused on India than those of the un-uniformed Islamic Jihadi’s who are more diffuse in their malevolent intent as they simply have many other things to hate. Further as I have said before, one way of solving a problem is to make it everyone else’s. The more diffuse malevolent intent of the un-uniformed Islamic Jihadi’s of Pakistan makes it more likely that they will target others beside India.

If for whatever reason the above does not pan out, there is the comfort that the un-uniformed Islamic Jihadi’s as adherents of the religion of peace may hopefully more readily come around to seeing the virtues of eschewing violence.

Pak, India must talk about Kashmir, everything: Clinton
Asked if the US will encourage Pakistan and India to solve old problems, like Kashmir, Clinton said: "Yes, absolutely." But "we know that no one on the outside can solve these problems. It can only be solved by the two countries themselves having that kind of ongoing dialogue."

"So we've encouraged both Pakistan and India to resume that dialogue and to talk about everything, including Kashmir, because now the security of both countries is threatened by these forces of extremism."

"And I believe that a lot of these terrorist groups are funded, directed, equipped, and trained by outside forces, not people from Pakistan, not people from India, but people who wish to see the two countries at - in conflict, and I think that is so critical to avoid. :?: And the only way to avoid it is by getting back into a dialogue," Clinton said.

In another interview with Watandost.com, she said an international effort by US, China and European Union could at best be a guarantor but an impetus for a dialogue must come from the two countries themselves.

He mentioned that the rise of temperatures in the Northern Areas of Pakistan, which is house to a number of glaciers in Himalaya-Karakoram-Hindukush (HKH) region, is mainly due to the global warming and more importantly due to the direct carbon deposits on the glaciers.

The black carbon results from trans-boundary pollutants coming from a neighbouring country with coal-based industries, he added. :((
And which country would that be sir? Surely not the "Taller than Mountains, Deeper than the ocean" friend? Or is it the other neighboring country to the east that is inhabited by SDREs. This is why India is acquiring civilian n. tech from the US, to avoid polluting countries to the west.

what is the probability that the bombing in DIK is a "reality" pinch by the americans for pak jernails refusing to handover haqqani?

reality being that in pak now too many forces operating in tandem with little control over any action.

moreover this being the month of moharram in DIK which was known for devastating attacks on shias in past.

Haq convicted on all counts in Jewish Federation shootings
A King County jury this morning found Naveed Haq guilty of eight counts, including aggravated first-degree murder, in the 2006 shootings at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. The murder verdict carries an automatic life sentence for Haq.
...
...
Haq pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, and the defense produced several mental-health experts who testified that he was mentally ill. Defense attorneys had asked that Haq be sent to a state mental hospital rather than prison.
...
...
Witnesses testified that Haq, who is of Pakistani heritage, railed against Jews and U.S.-Israeli policies as he opened fire in the federation.

Haq surrendered after talking with a 911 dispatcher.

On the 911 tape, which the prosecution played for jurors on Oct. 21, the opening day of the trial, Haq said he was tired of the world ignoring the Muslim point of view.

"I don't care if I die," Haq said to the dispatcher. "This is just to make a point."
Aren't all pakis insane?

What's the matter? Do they all go to the same tailor & same cloth shop to get their "Shalwar-Kameez". All the men in the pictures (it is always men standing there ogling, chilling out ... no women) wear the same dress---same dress in every IED mubarak incident.

A Chakma in Pakistan
He is virtually unknown to the present generation of Pakistanis, and a fading memory for those old enough to know. But in the aftermath of 1971, when Bangladesh came into existence, Raja Tridiv Roy was quite the toast of Pakistan.

Then the titular chief of the Chittagong Hill Tract Chakmas, Mr. Roy was just one of two East Pakistan parliamentarians — Noor-ul-Amin was the other — to reject the new country, and throw in their lot with West Pakistan.

On the eve of the December 16 anniversary of the “Fall of Dhaka”, as the event is remembered in Pakistan, Mr. Roy told The Hindu in Islamabad that he has no regrets about that life-changing decision as his people continue to be discriminated against by Bangladesh.

In passing maulana must say there are 69 more of these to go.

If aghans would have done it, why in the lowly southern punjab city of dera? What will it send a msg- that we can only hit some incosequential town, with no Pakistan army presence? The above conspiracy theory is just that. Search for the intended message and to whom? In short, yours' doesnt pass muster.

Anyway lets leave conspiracy theories and brainwaves to the Pakistanis.

Score is 33 now , the pairing of 3 paradigm.

No more jihadi proxies —Dr Manzoor Jihad
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.as ... 2009_pg3_3

President Obama and most of the US policy circles are convinced that it is not only the Taliban of the tribal areas but all kinds of jihadis that are potential threats for the overall American interests in the area. For starters, improving Pak-Indian relations, a key component of US policy for South Asia, correlates directly to the elimination of anti-India jihadis is pertinent. In addition, the US cannot run different systems and departments without Indian help: practically, the Indians are managing everything from mail to communication systems in Afghanistan. A stable democratic system in Pakistan, taken to be part of the US strategy, is considered impossible if Islamisation is not reversed.

There is a section of historians and war analysts who believe that the Soviet Union made a big mistake by not going into the tribal belt. They believe that if the Soviets had made the tribal belt as part of the war theatre they may have avoided a humiliating retreat. Therefore, the US should not repeat the mistake and take direct action in Pakistan’s tribal belt if the Pakistan Army does not do its part. Probably, the US has communicated its intentions to Pakistan through its military leaders.

Praying behind imams who endorse terror declared haram

KARACHI: Offering prayers behind any imam who endorses terrorism and suicide attacks on Muslims, mosques, imambargahs, women and children and the country’s security forces is declared haram (forbidden in Islam), according to a decree issued by religious scholars on Tuesday. “Suicide bombings and terrorist attacks in Pakistan are haram. Offering namaz behind those religious leaders who support suicide bombings and terrorism in the country is also haram,” the decree stated. The decree against the pro-terrorism clerics and religious party leaders came at an Ulema Convention that was held at the Jinnah Ground, under the aegis of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.{taian tain fiss} The clerics urged unity among the various sects of Islam, saying that all sects should respect each other in the light of the teachings of the holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). MQM chief Altaf Hussain had appealed to scholars to condemn pro-terrorism leaders as well. The MQM chief asked religious scholars to create awareness among the masses about religious extremism. He said their role was crucial in defeating extremism in the country. He said use of force to impose sharia as well as terrorists involved in suicide bombings had defamed Islam across the world. irfan ali

Hoodbhoy responds with The Confessions of a Groveling Pakistani Native Orientalistto M. Shahid Alam's article Native Orientalists at the Daily Times

Most of Alam's article and another one of Alam's referenced by Hoodbhoy rail against the Paki RAPE. Of-course, Alam's heroes are the unwashed warriors or waziristan, but that's beside the point. The main thing is that the target is the military-RAPE establishment. People like Hoodbhoy, who try to disguise their RAPE-ish pakiness are merely collateral damage in this battle. So he squeals. May the fight continue for a long time!

Business, not jingoism ---- Waqar Ahmad
This has taken the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and chambers of commerce in Pakistani cities by surprise, and dismayed Pakistan's business leaders. The FICCI is one of India's oldest business organisations. But, unlike the chambers and business networks in Pakistan, the FICCI works closely with the government of the country.
The report is likely to have a negative impact and change perceptions in the business sector, and thus dramatically harm bilateral economic relations. It could deepen the political mistrust between the two countries. It will diminish the potential of bilateral trade and enable the penetration of the Indian establishment into the business sector. The report is a matter of serious concern for businesses on both sides, because its contents could create an alarming situation in both business and political fields.
The negative implications of the document are already evident from the response of the business sector in Pakistan. The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has responded by suspending the sending of business delegations to India and advised its members to immediately halt trade and business engagement with that country until the resumption of the Composite Dialogue between Pakistan and India. Business leaders in Karachi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan and Peshawar have similarly shown resentment against the report.
Moderate elements at the FICCI :rotfl: must advocate restraint, taking into account the fact that businesses in Pakistan are losing millions of dollars and hundreds of lives every day because of the war against terrorism. Incident similar to 26/11 are replicated every other day in Pakistan.

It is time that the two countries' businesses and chamber networks stood together and provided support to bilateral business interests, rather than advising their governments to adopt the option of war against neighbours. The FICCI is a responsible international institution and has always stood for business and economic cooperation in the region.

There should not be confusion in any mind that surgical strikes and limited war by India will not only be responded to with equal force but will eventually end up in a full-scale war, with devastating results for the two countries' inhabitants. Conflicts and wars produce no winners, only losers.

December 16 ---- Tayyab Siddiqui
It was the most critical period in Pakistan's history. The sensational news of genocide and military crackdown on Mukti Bahini had raised a storm in world capitals. Pakistan was bereft of sympathy and support and totally isolated. The military government of Yahya Khan, instead of pacifying the Bengalis and engaging them in dialogue, decided to send cultural troupes to different capitals, including Colombo, to project Pakistan's soft image.
Colombo served PIA as a refuelling stop as its aircraft could not fly non-stop between Dhaka and Karachi. While a stop-over for fuelling was unavoidable, the crew decided to make a quick buck. The flight to Dhaka was primarily to augment our military presence. The return flights invariably carried bodies of army jawan who laid down their lives in defence of their motherland. Instead of having a sobering effect the crew used the stop-over to buy semi-precious stones, even paan. At that time a single leaf of paan was being sold in Karachi for Rs 5 each. Confronted with dead bodies, "the great people to fly with" were using the opportunity to enrich themselves.
Among Pakistan's neighbours, Sri Lanka was the only country that extended its full support to Pakistan's integrity. The prime minister came under intense pressure from India and the Hindu Tamils in Sir Lanka. Mrs B, as she was affectionately called, was indeed an Iron lady. She refused to cave in.

It was a cold morning on December 17, 1972, when I as per routine entered the embassy. I saw hundreds of Sri Lankans sitting on the sprawling lawns. I went upstairs to inform the high commissioner of the presence of hundreds of Sri Lankans. In a brusque official tone he asked me to meet them. The 500 or so Muslims led by Sir Abubakar Fareed, who later served in Islamabad as Sri Lanka high commissioner, were sobbing and crying over the Dhaka surrender -- loss they could not bear.
