Rogue behaviour like fomenting Jihadi Islamic terrorism against the world and proliferating nuclear weapon technology to some of the more odious regimes of the world barring intangible setbacks to honour and dignity, clearly and tangibly pays off :-o .

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is all set to become the second largest recipient of US Aid and in the process overtake aid flows to longtime US ally Israel.

Meanwhile given that every dollar of US aid has the potential to free up a dollar for spending on armaments which history has shown will be used at some point of time against India by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, it would be prudent for India to forthwith accelerate her defensive capabilities.

What stops us from arming Afghanistan and Iran to the hilt, that should take significant number from troops from the Indian border to Iranian and Afghan border(as is already)? What stops us from taking advantage of the Balochistan situation? What stops us from making peace between Balochi's(Shia's not Junadullah) and Irani's against Pakistanis?

Wall of water could engulf Shangri-La

A landslide has dammed Pakistan's Hunza River, creating a vast lake which now threatens 45,000 people downstream

By Rina Saeed Khan
Sunday, 4 April 2010

EXcerpt:
A seven-mile lake formed by a massive landslide in north-east Pakistan is threatening to burst its banks and sweep through a valley, wiping out villages and endangering 45,000 people who live downstream.

Engineers are racing to build a channel at the top of the natural dam, formed by a landslide in early January which killed 19 people and blocked the Hunza River. This would let the water drain from the lake gradually. But they do not have much time. The water, which only a week or so ago was rising at a rate of 45cm a day, is now going up by a daily 30cm. Its growth is sure to accelerate as glaciers and snow caps in the nearby mountains start to melt.

The swelling waters of this huge lake – about as long as Ullswater, the Lake District's second-largest body of water – are now just 30 metres from the top.

Professor David Petley, of the International Landslide Centre at Durham University, warns there is "substantive risk of an outburst" as the water level approaches the top of the dam, with "the potential for a large flood wave to travel downstream as far as Tarbela Dam", 50km northwest of Islamabad.

He says: "When the water reaches the top there are two scenarios. One, water goes into the channel that the army are cutting and there's no flood. It sounds like an attractive prospect but you have a huge body of water behind a landslide dam. Two, if the water goes, it would be caught by the Tarbela dam downstream – and the reservoir there is low because of the drought in Pakistan – but as many as 45,000 people are in danger of a flood wave. A wave could be 40 metres high, or even more, as it goes down the valley."

On that note what stops us from militarily intervening and propping up the Karzai regime ourselves as soon as Unkil steps out? I don't mean as an invasion, but rather taking up the job of training the ANA which will do ground operations while establishing a strategic military presence to encircle Sania's sasural?

Vive le France! Sarko halts arms sales to Pak.Apartf rom losing contracts in India,Sarko and the French are afeared of Pak secretly and illegallyt providing China with such tech for its aero-industry.

France halts supply of $1.6b worth mily equipment to Pakistan
Published: April 03, 2010

PARIS (Reuters) – France’s plan to sell 1.2 billion euro ($1.6 billion) worth of military equipment for Pakistan’s JF-17 combat aircraft has been held up, a source at President Nicolas Sarkozy’s office said on Friday.
Newspaper Le Monde had reported earlier that France decided to suspend the sale of electronics and missiles — the first section of a 6 billion euro contract - under pressure from India and uncertainty over Pakistan’s finances.
“It’s a deal that’s not ready from the Pakistani side,” the source said, without giving further details. “For now, the state of the dossier doesn’t allow us to carry on with it.”
A consortium made up of French company ATE, arms group Thales and missile manufacturer MBDA was supposed to produce the equipment, Le Monde said. Thales declined to comment.
France was also worried over insufficient protection of its technology, with Pakistan pushing to assemble the equipment on its soil, the paper said.
In February, MBDA said it planned to upgrade India’s Mirage 2000 fighters and was looking to expand in India.
Le Monde said talks over that upgrade also played a role in the decision.

Logistics,
An Iranian route into Afghanistan is not acceptable to Sunni Paktuns of Afghans. Best option for us to enable the Afghan Army into some 400,000 thousand strong professional fighting force. We could fund, train and give equipment. Thats about it. Maybe even promote more Northern Afghans into their Parliment and Army.

The legal luminaries in Pakistan made this amendment to the constitution
"he is, in the case of the National Assembly, not less than twenty-five years of age and is enrolled as a voter in any electoral roll in any area in a Province from which she seeks membership for election to a seat reserved for women"
The real question is, will a sex change operation be provided for free?

Third blast shakes Peshawar
Updated at: 1333 PST, Monday, April 05, 2010
PESHAWAR: Another third blast ripped through the Saddar area of Peshawar, Geo News reported Monday.

Earlier, two powerful blasts occurred at Gora Qabrustan near the US Consulate around Hayatabad Avenue.

The television footages show the mushroom plumes of white smoke from the blasts’ site.

The second blast occurred in a vehicle, which was being telecast live on Geo News camera, when the blast occurred.

The gunshots are continuously being fired in the area of the US Consulate situated on Khyber Road, which has been closed for every kind of traffic.

The security personnel took their positions and directed the citizens to limit their movements.

Suspected Islamist militants attacked a Pakistani checkpost near the U.S. consulate in Peshawar on Monday, hours after a suicide bomber killed 38 people elsewhere in the northwest, a witness and a doctor said.

"I saw attackers in two vehicles. Some of them carried rocket-propelled grenades. They first opened fire at security personnel at the post near the consulate and then blasts went off,
" city resident Siraj Afridi told Reuters.

Other residents said an initial blast went off in the neighborhood of the U.S. consulate and they later heard two other blasts and rifle fire in the same area.

The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad said it had no information.

Police in the city confirmed there had been two blasts but said they had no information about the cause or if they had inflicted casualties

Please be specific when you mention 72, is it Ayeshas or Abduls :D :D . Per my knowledge if more pious dies he will get 72 Ayeshas and if less pious dies like this will get 72 rough Abduls instead of Ayeshas.

Altair, here is a way you can turn the tables -

"If Indians were doing this in Pakistan, I would definitely be understanding and supportive of attempts by a Pakistani to publicize the issue"

thereby implicitly suggesting that your colleague is being unreasonable by not supporting your efforts to spread the word.

ISI HQ again - to mount a reasonably credible facade, to let Unkil believe they are going after jehad, they have to take out a few Abdul's here and there, particularly since Unkil is having own intelligence as well, perhaps the big shots within jehadi establishment have been told to lie low, the cannon fodders have not been. Hence some are having their own private revenge...plus ISI has been cherry picking good and bad according to their own definitions..

What else can be the possibility?

I used to own a M82 some years ago when I was a member of Fifty Caliber BMG soceity. I also owned a Pauza. There was a guy in AZ who was running a shop where he was selling kits for homemade fifty caliber "stuffs". He was also selling plans to construct. Not all of them safe methods. If you are dealing with a 50 cal....lots of things are dangerous. If you google Maadi Griffin....well under Clinton, the feds raided him and closed his shop after the the assorted gun related violence. Its not a cheap hobby. Just the ammo alone cost a bunch and if you and your friends go to a desert range to fire off a whole bunch...you go home hurting your shoulder, your ear gives out a strange ringing sensation (even with ear mufflers) and your pocket feels a lot lighter. I got rid of the guns and not a member anymore. I have now much better things to do.

Not sure if this has been posted but I think there are some snippets worth discussing

DAWN http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/daw ... awatts-540
By the Planning Commission’s estimate, Pakistan’s energy requirements will rise to 162,590MW in 2030. To run the risk of oversimplification, it can be assumed that a malnourished and economically weak Pakistan may actually be seen as a threat not only to India but to the world at large.

So why not help it in building its energy capability with a hybrid of thermal, hydel, solar, wind and above all nuclear power sources? If 170 million Pakistanis become prosperous by 2025 the space for militancy and non-state actors will be automatically marginalised. Everyone will benefit from such a win-win situation.

The reality is different though. States do not deal nicely with each other for their security concerns only; rather their economic interests drive policies. So what economic quid pro quo can Pakistan offer to the US?
So essentially blackmailing that if you do not dole us free nuclear power we can unleash 16 crore terrorist's on you and then sit and count the cost. If you hand nuclear power to gernails and ISI we can make world a more peaceful place but mind you we do not have money so everything needs to be free or we will go down and take everyone along for a free ride to hell.
The US and other allies will have to look at the issue in a long-term perspective and help support Pakistan meet its energy challenges. Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and has learnt from the experience of one man’s proliferation network. Its nuclear programme is more vulnerable to media offensives than the threat from the Taliban.
This is the biggest lie that paki think tank feels it can make world swallow. Bush let the paki milirary off the hook ny making AQ Khan the scapegoat but any person with enough gray matter know how ISI & paki military was the main driver behing the walmart of WMD. Nothing has changed in their mindset but they want world the beleive that everything is pure and pious and safe as well as secure.

In Peshawar where is the ISI building relative to the US consulate?

Consulate is 11 Hospital Road, which I can easily find in google maps. But the ISI building is generally in the "Sadar" area, not able to get a precise fix.

Amidst all the carnage in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, eight NATO tankers also torched.
“They hurled petrol bombs, then lobbed rockets and destroyed eight oil tankers,” Wazir said.

The tankers were on their return journey to Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi after delivering the fuel :( , he said.

Drones batter Al Qaeda and Allies within Pakistan - NY Times
The drones, operated by the C.I.A., fly overhead sometimes four at a time, emitting a beelike hum virtually 24 hours a day, observing and tracking targets, then unleashing missiles on their quarry, they said.
By all reports, the bombardment of North Waziristan, and to a lesser extent South Waziristan, has become fast and furious since a combined Taliban and Qaeda suicide attack on a C.I.A. base in Khost, in southern Afghanistan, in late December.
Tactics used just a year ago to avoid the drones could not be relied on, he said. It is, for instance, no longer feasible to sleep under the trees as a way of avoiding the drones. “We can’t lead a jungle existence for 24 hours every day,” he said.
While unpopular among the Pakistani public, the drone strikes have become a weapon of choice for the Obama administration after the Pakistani Army rebuffed pleas to mount a ground offensive in North Waziristan

Ever notice that even the Pak military hasn't bought from the Darra manufacturers, even if they could have saved a bunch of money by getting locally made products instead of importing. There's a good reason why they don't. Khyber pass rifles have been known for dodgy quality.

Perhaps the most valuable thing Pakistan has from Indian POV is transit for Iranian gas.

A second valuable thing is access to Afghanistan and CAR beyond.

Try as I might, I cannot think of items 4 and 5.
:)
You could be right about the 1st one.

The second item is not feasible in the short as well as long term as long as TSP exists as a single entity.

The third point is also not true. India has its own POK route, which it has to establish.

Guys: Lets see. More such Talibunny attacks against US inetersets, and you will have dim-wit demagouges like Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Shawn Hannity, Sarah palin et. all in another one of those loud-mouthed "liberal Vs conservatives" theater will be blasting Obama for not holding India's balls and demanding that it deliver Kashmir and whatever else that TSP has conveyed to Pentagon that India must hand over to TSP. Because you see, US war with Talibunnies and Al Queda is dictated from Jesus Christ himself, and how dare Hindu SDRE India come in the way by not be willing to endure TSP's blood thirst?

For those in India who are not aware of how US media works; most of the US media, especially the so called mainstream conservatives to the far right (both groups constitute roughly 80% of the media with massive following including Nazi talk radio) are mouthpieces of the Pentagon and military. Somewhat like that rag Samana or whatever is a mouthpiece of Shiv Sena. Thus, as the Wall Street journal (another loyal voice of Pentagon) report indicates, the Pentagon wants Obama to squeeze India's balls, and so I won't be surprised if this hits the airwaves as another one of those tea party pet peeves, "liberal Obama not sequeezing India's balls is hurting US interests in Af-Pak".

CRS,

I have yet to find a right wing piece that does NOT talk the opposite of what you say. Virtually everyone blames Obama for alienating India, not the other way around.

R-man/Marten,

Thats in the abstract.

Once Pentagon diseeminates their views, namely, India is hurting US in Af-Pak by not giving in to TSP demands, you will see them demagouge like the loyal mouthpieces they are. Come on, counting on idiots like Beck and right wing nuts just because they can pile on Obama and it may be suit India at the moment, is not a good strategic strategy. Of course, from a real-politic POV, I would take whatever we can get, but just cautining against going overboard, thats all.
