Miniscule outfits will strike the country with new names, indicate security sources.
Of late there have been several unknown names which have emerged after every terrorist strike and the intelligence sources say that newer names will continue to emerge in the future too.
The Indian Mujahideen [ Images ], in particular, will be in the forefront of all India-based operations and will operate under new names.
Sources say just the way SIMI [ Images ] was phased out and became the IM, the same will happen to the latter too.
In the recent past, there have been several names that have cropped up after a terror strike. The Deccan Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba al-Almi and very recently the DJS. While the IM and the Lashkar-e-Taiba al-Almi had claimed responsibility for the Mumbai [ Images ] and Pune attacks respectively, the name of the DJS, a Hyderabad-based group, was suspected for the recent Bangalore blasts.
"We are very well aware of which group operates under which name. It will cause confusion at first since the investigation tends to drift in one particular direction for a while, but then it gets back on track. The IM, we are aware, is looking for a name change," sources said.
The bigger concern is, however, not the name change, but the attempts that the IM is making to merge with several defunct outfits.
It is now confirmed that the IM is shifting base to South India and is gradually looking to increase the number of modules and cells.
The IM is looking for tie-ups and there is a radar of suspicion on some outfits in South India. Outfits such as the MDF from Andhra, the Indian Mohammedia Mujahideen (AP, Kar), Deendar Anjuman (AP, Kar, TN), ISS (Kerala [ Images ]) and the All India Jihad Committee (Kerala).

Ramana-ji - Reminds me of your comments on aSatyam company.
Read More: http://igovernment.in/site/raghu-raman- ... grid-36207New Delhi: Mahindra Special Services Group CEO Captain Raghu Raman has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) project to strengthen the intelligence sharing and analysing mechanism in the country.
NATGRID would help intelligence and law enforcement agencies across the country to get quick access to desired information.
While the user agencies and the databases have been identified, the complete NIG would be delivered in 18 months time and will link 21 databases that can be accessed by 10 security agencies.
The National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) will collate all data and information of an individual in a non-obtrusive manner in the country.

What about local police forces? In the UK, Local police forces have access to PNC (police National Computer) - which is UK's version of NATGRID.

After the latest expose of NTRO tapping even UPA minister's phones, NDTV journo was saying that this revelation might throw a spanner in NATGRID since the possibility of misuse is very high and might become a political hot potato.
Hope that the journo's fears don't come true.

RamaY, thanks buddy.
Sum, I was actually going to say something similar about abuse of this system, but deleted it.
This is just going to make it easier for people to misuse this. Was speaking to a prominent private investigator. In the old days, things were extremely easy to tap peoples phones, now you need to do paper work and go through official channels (can take some time to obtain permission). So it can still be done but now obtaining cell phone locations is a bit harder to obtain, as you leave a paper trail, the guys prefer to use other methods to locate individuals. Its easy to obtain the ID and address to where the SIM is registered - can be obtained without the official route.
Now when you submit a query to the NATGRID database, the officer will have to submit his login details and a reason why he is accessing the database. In the UK, some officers now have the PNC tied to their blackberries (some abuse is taking place).
Nevertheless NATGRID is a must, it needs to exist. A bit of paperwork should be filed to prevent abuse, when accessing database imo.

'Secret' visitor from Australia deported
Was this guy a Indian or a Paki is also unclear. Scary is that if he hadnt written "secret" in his form, he would have slipped through wthout issue!! He reportedly mentioned that his job was to pick up some "consignment" from a Mr. Woodward.
Edited. Bit more info on this "curios case of Qadir" :
Aussie gets deported for secret visit
Wonder what this was about?BANGALORE: A passenger from Australia was reportedly deported upon failing to mention the nature of his visit to India. He instead maintained that the visit was ‘secret’ after he arrived at the Bengaluru International Airport on April 16.
The passenger, Mohammed Qadir, who had arrived from Sydney via Singapore had written in the immigration form that the purpose of his visit was secret, following which he was deported to Australia.
His passport details revealed that he had studied in Afghanistan and had also spent considerable time in Pakistan.
However, this incident has been denied by security officials at the airport.

The unusual mention raised the eyebrows of immigration officials who immediately detained the passenger and started questioning him, they said.
Qadir, who had arrived in India from Sydney via Singapore, later told the investigators he was in the city to collect a consignment from one "Robert Green".
His passport details revealed that he had studied in Afghanistan and also spent considerable time in Pakistan.
During questioning, Qadir was not able to answer any of the questions satisfactorily prompting the authorities to deport him back to Sydney in Australia via Bangkok. The Australian authorities are understood to have been informed about the incident.
In the meantime, a list of importers and exporters whose name was identical to that of the passenger was being compiled by security agencies and scrutinised.

Sleuth scanner on IPL betting ‘crores’
JAYANTA ROY CHOWDHURY
New Delhi, April 19: The betting on IPL games may be generating between Rs 25,000 crore and Rs 40,000 crore a year from India, taxmen say.
“We believe that the amount of bets placed on IPL games could be as high as Rs 700-1,000 crore per match. After all, bets are placed on almost everything ----- wins, losses, runs per ball, the number of runs scored by a batsman, the number of wickets taken by a bowler, the Man of the Match, third umpire decisions…” a tax official said.
The punters place their bets from illegal betting rooms in various cities that feed a master betting room in Dubai. They also use online betting sites such as the UK-based Bet365, Ladbrokes, Victor Chandler and Paddypower as well as the London Stock Exchange-listed William Hill, besides the popular Betfair, BetClick, BlueSquare and others.
The odds for the Chennai Super Kings versus Delhi Daredevils game on April 15 were close: 20/21 and 19/20 respectively. It meant that a bet of Rs 2,000 got one Rs 2,100 if Chennai won, and a bet of Rs 1,900 fetched one Rs 2,000 if Delhi won, officials said.
All the betting sites accept Indian registration. Payments to the foreign websites have to be made through legal money transfers and usually in dollars, pounds or euros. Some, Bet365 for example, accept rupee accounts too.
The tax officials said betting on the foreign sites might be checked to see whether the bets from India were legal under Indian laws. The exercise will try to identify the big Indian punters and whether there is any insider trading — profiting from information not made public — within the Indian cricket board, the BCCI, officials said.
However, the Dubai connection is illegal. This betting is controlled by the underworld and the cash generated is black money which, intelligence officials suspect, may be feeding narcotic-crime syndicates, especially those controlled by Dawood Ibrahim. They believe the wealth is being ploughed into a maze of other illegal businesses.
The officials said a proper investigation into the Dubai racket could be done only with the help of UAE police and India’s intelligence agencies.
One of the theories doing the rounds on the low-intensity weekend blasts in Bangalore is that they were the handiwork of punters. These people had apparently developed cold feet on the huge bets they had placed and did not want the match to take place.
Several states’ police have busted betting rooms in places as widely separated as Jharkhand and Haryana. Mumbai, Surat, Delhi, Pune, Jaipur, Indore, Raipur and Chandigarh are among the leading centres for rupee betting.
The racket operates in Pakistan too. Cable operators there had decided not to telecast the IPL after the league’s snub to Pakistani cricketers, but had to start beaming the matches last week “on popular demand”.
A Pakistani cricket official, Shahzad Khan, recently said the “bookies (in Pakistan) are stronger than the government” and the country’s cricket board, which had recommended the ban on the telecast of IPL matches.

Retd. Customs Officer held for Naxal links
The {Surat} police claimed that Vishwanath Varadarajan Iyer, a retired customs officer who made Nagpur the base for his alleged extremist activities, was a member of the Central Committee of the CPI (ML) Janshakti and was responsible for training left extremists in Kerala forests in 2000.
The police also claimed that during interrogation Iyer said trainers in the Kerala forests had come from the Philippines, revealing an international connection to the left extremist movement.

Good going. Another Khobad Ghandy. It's good that he got caught in Gujarat - no chance of a mob of Congressmen freeing him from jail.A.K. Singh, Inspector-General, south Gujarat range, said Iyer opted for voluntary retirement way back in 1988 when he was posted in Nagpur and made the Maharashtra city the base of his operations. He worked overground for some time and then went underground.
It is learnt Iyer hails from a family in Tiruchi in Tamil Nadu wedded to classical music.

Bhai's public relations officers
Even as the IPL saga gets murkier, the lanes in Dongri and Nagpada are rife with rumours that the issue erupted after Bhai shelled out a 'khoka' of Rs 1,500 to acquire stakes in the Kochi team
Dawood Ibrahim has invested in the IPL, say his cronies
"Bhai wanted to celebrate his 25th wedding anniversary by acquiring stakes in the cricket team. He loves cricket; betting too," said one of his cronies, who owns a shop in Chor Bazaar. The chief executive of D Company is simply called Bhai. Street-smart don Dawood Ibrahim's life story is entwined in the narrow lanes of Bori Mohalla, where he was known for his bol bachchan or babbling ways. The bol bachchan continues to this day.

'Koi mushkil nahin.' It is not difficult. 'Bhai ne kya phone gumaya aur paper pahunch gaya.' Paper is money in the underworld lingo.
The underworld grapevine is agog with news that Dawood has invested in the IPL. It is part of the D Company's PR exercise. The babble is engineered to give the gang's image a boost.
It is not surprising when names like Khalid Boxer or Sikander crop up during conversations with the 'PR executive'. An outsider would almost fall for this loose talk. In most cases, the cronies spew half-truths.
............ Details of the other Karachi-based goon Khalid Boxer's career are also selectively leaked making sure that little or no information is available to fresh-on-the-block reporters. Therein lies the danger of misinformed, ill-researched pieces winning newsprint which in turn means publicity for the sidekicks.
The underworld PR executives know their jobs far too well. Their skills are on par with their counterparts in the corporate world. These are the same men who threaten the dhoors, or prey as they are called on the streets of Mumbai . They can instill fear in the minds and it's well known that the fear of death can be more cruel than death.

Re: Internal Security Watch
Aah! Hereditary. Hmmm...now I start thinking of history and damn, Indian history is a big depressing read and nothing else, where elite always betrayed nation and its people for their petty interests and common Abdul either did not care or did not have any power at all. Its indeed shocking that the incidents of betraying nation, by either 'inviting' foreigners to attack or by backing 'foreigners' or by any other way, did not happen once or twice but throughout Indian history. So I guess elite will keep going to any extent to protect its interests while common Abdul will keep running headless. Jai Ho forever only.Rupesh wrote:Why blame the elite onleee. Ajmer Dargah blast case: Rajasthan ATS arrest suspected Abhinav Bharat member

Wow, Sohrabuddin seems to be a real VIP.The CBI, investigating the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and alleged murder of his wife Kauserbi, has summoned six IPS officers for questioning sometime next week, an official said.
"We have called in some IPS officers who were part of the earlier investigation in the case for questioning," a CBI official said.
They include Geetha Johri, who was the Investigating Officer when the case was being probed by the State CID, according to CBI sources.
The central agency has also called Rajneesh Rai, who was the one who had arrested three IPS officers, D G Vanzara, Rajkumar Pandian and Dinesh M N, considered to be main conspirators behind the encounter of Sheikh and disappearance of his wife Kauserbi in November 2005, they said.
Two former chiefs of Gujarat CID and the current head of the state agency, which was investigating the case before it was handed over to the CBI, have also been called for questioning, the sources said.

CRPF men arrested for selling arms to Naxals
What is happening in this country??
Less than a month after the country witnessed the most horrific Naxal attack in which 76 security personnel were killed, three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans and two Uttar Pradesh policemen were arrested on Friday on charges of selling arms to the rebels.
Ammunition and empty cartridge shells have been recovered from the arrested security personnel along with a huge amount of explosives.

What is happening in this country??
Re: Internal Security Watch
^^
During interrogation of Yashoda, Vinesh and Vinod the police team came to know that they used to show use of more cartridges than actually used by the jawans during the shooting session. The live cartridges were transported out of the armory and handed to the clients.
According to the rules the empty cartridges are cut to pieces and sold as scrap. Here again the armourers used to store the empty to exchange it with the live cartridges. While empty cartridge was kept in the armoury the live on was dispatched to the prospective buyer.![]()
All the cartridges are of prohibited bore and not available in the open market. The Maoist and insurgents are armed with sophisticated weapons including AK- 47 INSAS rifle and SLR. They are dependent on the smugglers and often poach on the police armory to get the cartridges.

3 Hyderabad malls fail security tests
P Pavan
Posted On Friday, April 30, 2010 at 06:57:21 PM
Hyderabad: Police shut down three malls after they failed to detect explosives carried in by plainclothed cops during a drill on Friday. The drill covered at least eight malls. Deputy Commissioner of Police Akun Sabharwal said outlets of Big Bazaar, Spencer’s and Snow World, an entertainment hub, failed the test. “We will allow them to reopen only after they meet the security norms stipulated by us,” Sabharwal said.
However, the malls were expected to open sooner than later.
A spokesperson of Big Bazaar said, “Police have made some suggestions. We will follow them. There is no problem with the equipment. But, securitymen need to be further sensitized.”
Snow World’s general manager said the management is already in the process of improving the security apparatus. “We convinced the police about our plans,” he said.
Police have been carrying out extensive security checks and inspections for the last four days following an alert by the Intelligence Bureau of the possibility of terrorists targetting the city in the near future.

$1 Billion or a Madhu Koda needed for BPJs to everyone in Armed Forces + CPMF + State Police
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/indi ... 877980.cms
So 5 million would cost around 10,000 crore, but with large production scaling around half that i.e. 5000 crore roughly equivalent to $1 billion.
That's the best $1 billion India can use to give BPJs to every one in Armed Forces and all police including Railway Police, Home Guards etc.
This $1 billion is the most important for internal security. Is there lack of funds or lack of will?
Madhu Koda had around 4400 crore roughly $1 billion. So Madhu Koda can theoretically arm the whole nation's armed and police forces with BPJs.
Someone like Chautala/Badal/Pawar can arm the whole nation.

April MHA report
Border Management
India-Bangladesh Border: 210 kms of fencing and 309 kms of road works were completed in FY 09-10 and 30 kms of fencing and 25 kms of road works in April, 2010 under phase II of the project. 401 kms of fencing were replaced in FY 09-10 and 5 kms in April, 2010 under phase III of the project. Poles for floodlighting were erected on a length of 445 kms in FY 09-10 and 40 kms during the month of April 2010.
So 210 kms in the last fiscal year under phase 2, while my table from the monthly calc was around 260 and 401 kms under phase 3 while the monthly figures added upto 40 kms.
So i guess, approx 50 kms in phase 2 and 40 kms in phase 3 were destroyed in the cyclone which is not all that bad. So i guess the annual report figure was just a typo unless MHA changed the norms of what can be classified as a good fence and revised the previous year figure to something lower.

More on the Ajmer Sharif blast story:
Man with RSS link held for Ajmer Dargah blast
Man with RSS link held for Ajmer Dargah blast
Expect this news to blow up all over the media in next few days to deflect attention from MMS and Paki sagaJAIPUR: In what appears to be a breakthrough in the October 2007 bomb blast at the shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer in which three persons were killed, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Rajasthan on Wednesday night arrested one Devendra Gupta. A resident of Muzafarpur in Bihar, Gupta was on a visit to his parents' house at Bihariganj in Ajmer town to meet his ailing mother when the ATS, narrowing on him for some time, nabbed him.
The 36-year-old Gupta, who is suspected to have links with a Hindutva terror outfit, was produced on Friday before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Ajmer who remanded him to 12 days' police custody. “We are hopeful of cracking the Ajmer Dargah blast case,” said ATS Chief Kapil Garg
Though the officers of the ATS, which took over the blast case in May last year from the Special Operations Group (SOG), remained non-committal on Gupta's affiliations, Rajasthan Home Minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal said the suspect is a worker (pracharak) of the RSS in Muzafarpur.
“Devendra Gupta is an active member of the RSS. What he did was part of a larger game plan. Behind him is an organization which tries to incite violence between Hindus and Muslims,” Mr. Dhariwal said talking briefly to media persons here. “We are investigating the links of the organization with the RSS,” he asserted.

If a medium size fish like him can have so much, I fail to even imagine how much bigger fishes have amassed!Pranav wrote:And Sonia Madam and Baba Rahul can arm the whole planet?Karna_A wrote: Madhu Koda had around 4400 crore roughly $1 billion. So Madhu Koda can theoretically arm the whole nation's armed and police forces with BPJs.
Someone like Chautala/Badal/Pawar can arm the whole nation.(could not resist)

Security Update

There are increased indications that terrorists are planning imminent attacks in New Delhi. Terrorists have targeted places in the past where U.S. citizens or Westerners are known to congregate or visit. Markets, such as those located in Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Mehrauli, and Sarojini Nagar, can be especially attractive targets for terrorist groups. If you are in an area where unattended packages are spotted, you should immediately exit the area and report the packages to authorities.

NDFB chief held in Bangladesh, handed to India
Also, interesting that the SH govt seems to be grwing in confidence and openly handing over turds unlike in the case of ULFA big wigs and T.Naseer where they were found loitering near the border and were picked up by BSF without any BD help
Hope all the terror fishes out there are reeled in sooner than later

Thanks you once again, SH and her govt.Shillong: Ranjan Daimary, founder of the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), has been reportedly arrested in Bangladesh and handed over to India where he is wanted for ordering bomb attacks, a police officer said on Saturday.
A senior intelligence official said that Bangladesh Rifles handed over Daimary, who is also chairman of NDFB, to the Border Security Force (BSF) at Dawki in Meghalaya on Friday night. The BSF then handed him over to the Assam Police.
"Yes, we have heard about Daimary being handed over to the BSF, but I have not received any official information about it," said Mr S.B. Kakati, the Meghalaya Director General of Police.

More info on the arrest:
Bangladesh hands over NDFB chief to India
Bangladesh hands over NDFB chief to India
Good work once again by the RAW( or NTRO??) SIGINT team and MI.Guwahati, May 01: Bangladesh authorities Saturday handed over Ranjan Daimary, chief of the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), to India where he is wanted for ordering bomb attacks, officials said.
He is the fifth top separatist leader to be evicted out of Bangladesh in the past four months.
An Indian official said Daimary, along with at least two other NDFB militants, were handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) at a border post in Dawki in Meghalaya early Saturday.
The BSF then handed him over to the Assam Police.
Daimary and the two other NDFB militants have since arrived in Guwahati and were being interrogated by senior Assam Police intelligence officials at a safe house in the city.
According to police sources, the NDFB leader was arrested April 17 in Jinaighati town in Sherpur district of Bangladesh and held in custody before being handed over to Indian authorities Saturday.
'He is a big catch no doubt,' the official said requesting anonymity. The Assam government has, however, refused to confirm Daimary's arrest.
The arrest was made following a tip-off about Daimary's presence in Jinaighati by the Indian military intelligence to the Detective Branch of the Bangladesh police in early April.
Sources said Indian military intelligence officials gave specific information about Daimary's son who is a student at a school in Dhaka. It is through him and subsequent telephone intercepts between the NDFB chairman and his wife that led to the arrest.
Formed in 1986, the NDFB is a rebel group fighting for an independent homeland for the Bodo tribes people in Assam.
The NDFB was blamed for the Oct 30, 2008 serials explosions in Assam that killed about 100 people and wounded up to 800 more.
Earlier, the Awami League government of Sheikh Hasina handed over four top leaders of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) to India - chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa, deputy commander-in-chief Raju Baruah, foreign secretary Sasha Choudhury, and finance secretary Chitraban Hazarika.
All the top four ULFA leaders are now in Guwahati jail.
'We are committed to fighting terror,' Mohammed Zamir, political advisor to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, told IANS over telephone from Dhaka. But he too refused to deny or confirm Daimary's arrest.
