from the link:
Col Imam’s son, who is a one-star general in the Pakistan Army, and the sons of Khalid Khawaja, believed to be in the defence forces, are also using “other channels” to negotiate the return of their fathers.
I wonder why having specifics regarding Col Imam's son but vague on KK's sons. One of his son's name is Osama Khalid.

Hamid Mir used to be a different person in the initial days of his 'struggle' as a journalist. He was openly an establishment guy and almost as rabid an India baiter as shrileen.

Image
Now you don't get this photo op without the ISI vetting your credentials right upto Mo Bin Qasim. :D

Our Hamid Mir of current times is a re-invented version. I think I saw that change happen with the media exposure the paki journalists had during mushy agra visit. Hamid Mir found out that if he tempered his tone he could be a regular on Indian TV channels and that probably meant mega bucks.

BTW: in the very recent past, Hamid Mir and Sheikh Rashid were at very odds and they had arguments on TV (in Mir's Capital Talk show).

One of the connection is that KK screwed Nawaz Sharif as well as Sheikh Rashid. First one claiming that Nawaz Sharif meeting with Osama and Sheikh Rashid regarding running training camps in J&K.

KK in the interview with ATOL SSS (in 2005) linked by Guptaji.
Then Nawaz Sharif introduced me to Sheikh Rashid, and he took me to his Freedom House camp near Fateh Jang Road near Rawalpindi. He asked me to get support from Arabs. I took several of my Arab friends to his training camp, and they provided him with some money, though they were not satisfied with the environment.
For whatever reason, today, Sheikh Rashid and Nawaz Sharif don't want to see eye to eye.

I know the above are disjoined points but well....what is clear is that a lot of churning is happening in Pak.

Hindu forgery - there is no mention of either India or Kashmir in the letter.
The Hindu word is also absent, though Christian and Jew was mentioned in the e-mail.

In any event there is a sub continental flavour in the allusion to the Muslim invasion of Sindh by mention of Mohammad Bin Qasam (sic) and Raja Dahir.

That's probably because the indoctrination book they all read is interspersed with prose. The mullas are ingenious and make fools of these faithfools by interspersing their bigoted ideas with some religious sounding prose.

A couple of months of this poison and these buggers think they're arab and that they are their god's gift to the cause of jeehard.

Just after midnight on Feb. 25, 2006, Faisal Shahzad sent a lengthy e-mail message to a group of friends. The trials of his fellow Muslims weighed on him — the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the plight of Palestinians, the publication in Denmark of cartoons lampooning the Prophet Muhammad.
SO this guy just didn't decide to go jihad in April 2010. He has been a jihadi for long long time as most of the pakis are. You don't turn a jihadi on one fine day. You have the trait and burning up for long time.

I dunno if you can get to this facebook video
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php ... &ref=share

It is yet another "Pakistan's problem is primarily an image problem". It protests, e.g., that "Pakistani media reported that Mumbai terrorists were Pakistani without taking government officials into confidence".

Fascinating article by Ayesha Siddiqa on Hussein Haqqani's about turn
Besides other measures, HH's franchise for marketing Pakistan's democratic forces in the US was seriously threatened by GHQ's shadow ambassadors in Washington: a female former ambassador and the author of a famous book on Pakistan's military who were assisted by several menials for changing the minds of American policymakers regarding Pakistan's political system. Given that most want to be ambassador in Washington, DC their loyalty to the GHQ and efficiency in marketing the khakis cannot be underestimated. While the lady continues to be busy cultivating relations in Washington so that she could take the most coveted position at some future date, the gent, who may be relatively less favored to play the role, has been getting army plants in the media to write op-eds suggesting that he should become the ambassador instead.
I think she is referring to Maleeha Lodhi and Shuja Nawaz

That is why there is a justified demand to make Pinglish an official and national language of Pakistan.

Then this guy would have scored A++ all the way.

From the posted article:
Mr. Shahzad came of age during Pakistan’s state-sponsored jihad against India’s military in the breakaway region of Kashmir — a conflict that granted legendary status to Pakistani jihadists. “We used to see the mujahedeen as heroes,” said one graduate of Mr. Shahzad’s high school, who, like others interviewed for this article, spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution. “When I look back, I think, ‘What was I thinking? What were we all doing?’ But in that era, it made sense. We all wanted to do something.”
The cynical practice of the Senior Officers of the Pakistan Military to sacrifice the children of the poor of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as cannon fodder for the cause of waging Jihad against India seems to have come back to haunt the uppermost echelons of the Military.

Let me hope that the likelyhood of seeing their own children seduced by the depraved values of Islamic Jihad propagated by them to hurt India will give pause to the Pakistan Military’s sponsorship of terrorism.

What bothered me among other things is
a. Gordon Duff is a US veteran
b. If you look around, he appears to be buddies with Hamid Gul.

The fact that Hamid Gul and his buddies are still alive is because of the friendship these people have with some well connected people in massaland.

These pakistani generals are bigoted terrorist sympathizers today, but they were best buddies with the GI Joe cold war warriors of yesteryears.

I blame his father for being way unIslamic. As a dutiful son, Faisal asked permission from his father. His father, having been himself part of 'jihad fi Sabilillah' denied permission ? OTOH, look at Lt. Gen. Hamid Gul. He proudly sent his two sons to jihad, entrusting them in the safe hands of Jalaluddin Haqqani. Look at how Kathwari's family is proud of the martyrdom of their son. This Air Vice Marshal was up to no good.
The saving grace was that his wife figured out he was no good and didn't fall for his last minute blackmail

"This spreading of the idea of global Islamic jihad is very dangerous and as it gets deeper and deeper into the extremist groups in Pakistan it means we can expect more attacks like the one we saw at Times Square, and we can expect them to become increasingly sophisticated and more capable," Riedel said.

Clinton has warned of "severe consequences" for Pakistan in the event of a successful Pakistan-based terrorist attack in the United States.
It is very well articulated. Yep, the spreading of the idea of global Islamic jihad is very dangerous, while the idea of local Islamic Jihad for which bakis are nurtured is desirable.
For all the song and dance about the jihad, the desire is to not eliminate that, but to specifically use that as precision guided instrument with local effects.
Jihad is no problem for the western world. At the end of the day, it is easy to send bakis back to stone age (as articulated by shri.armitraj before and by smt. clinton now). The problem is bakistan is seen as a hen that lays golden eggs. Can't kill it, but can't use it as precision guided ammunition. The steps that are needed to convert that global phenomena to a local phenomena will be rigorously pursued.

See Mud-rass-ah math gets you nowhere. For Indian Army to kill nine (not ten) pigs in three days equates to 1095 pigs in a year. Whereas the PA (supposedly) killed just 500 of their own. So, where's the comparison? Who's better? Hain ji?

The fountainhead of religious extremism

It bears repeating that when Gandhi first encouraged Islamic religious clerics for his own anti-imperialist goals, the lone dissenting voice of reason was that of Pakistan’s founding father Jinnah who told Gandhi not to bring “unwholesome elements into public life”. Yet it is Pakistan — ironically — that has come to be associated with the same unwholesome elements today.

After partition, religious extremism in Pakistan reared its ugly head when Majlis-e-Ahrar, a vociferously anti-Pakistan Islamic party during pre-partition days and an erstwhile ally of Gandhi, in 1953 started its campaign of terror against a hapless sectarian minority with the help of another witchdoctor of dubious history, i.e. Maulana Maududi, who till then had become completely irrelevant after his opposition to Jinnah and the Muslim League. To the credit of Pakistan’s judiciary, it swiftly handed down a death sentence for the person who is singlehandedly responsible in providing the ideological foundations for not just the Islamisation in Pakistan but the global Islamic jihad.Nevertheless the Maulana’s sentence was commuted and it is Pakistan that has suffered as a result. Subsequent to commutation, his book, Islam and Communism, was picked up, reprinted and distributed allegedly by CIA’s JI desk all over the Muslim world. The idea was to use Maududian extremism to stiffen resistance against Soviet expansionism. It is therefore ironic that the JI, Maulana Maududi’s enduring creature, which in 1977 received funds from quarters in the US to overthrow the increasingly pro-Soviet Bhutto, is today the bastion of anti-Americanism. Wonders never cease. The fountainhead of religious extremism in our country is Mansoora, the headquarters of the JI, in Lahore. Unless Pakistan and the US seriously take a look at the activities of the JI, any meaningful progress in stopping extremism feeding this terror will be impossible. The JI actively works on Pakistan’s largest university campuses to spread its doctrine of hate and bigotry not just against other countries such as the US but religious and sectarian minorities in Pakistan

The only problem will be for Unkil, because maintaining the facade of supporting a non-jihadi army will be very difficult. H&D problems many fold. It is useful to still propagate that there is "good jihadi army" and "bad Jihadi army" ala "good taliban" and "bad taliban" style.

The Clinton statement —Shahzadi Chaudhrey
Just a month back, as she hobnobbed with Pakistan’s foreign minister and set forth the seriousness in the ‘strategic dialogue’, she appeared to be giving a slightly deeper meaning to the term strategic. It has been my refrain though for a long time that the durational definition of the term strategic in the US-Pakistan context is never longer than five years; 10 years would be grand strategy. So short would be the US cover has come as a surprise to even the most ardent of US haters. Some things have not been right with Mrs Clinton. Recent reports suggest she is not inside President Obama’s closest circles, that she took her time finding comfort in working with him — as late as the Environment Summit in Copenhagen — and, in some cases, the president’s office has assumed direct control of policy and translation of the president’s intent in the foreign policy domain, particularly in the interest to allay Muslim apprehensions. Her nominee and point man on Pakistan and Afghanistan, Richard Holbrooke, has been practically sidelined under presidential preference and has actively been seeking avenues outside the government, in anticipation. The president’s other interest in foreign policy, the Israeli-Palestinian equation, is tended to by George Mitchell. The president’s own disposition to Israeli arrogance is well established and does not gel with Mrs Clinton’s world view on the same issue. Remember, she is heavily dependent on the support of a large Jewish and Indian lobby in New York for her political relevance and has favours to return. She has herself stated that she does not see herself lasting out President Obama’s entire first term. She has also determined that she may not have what it takes to fight another election for president. The lady is quite obviously out of sorts, despite the gloss.

Subject: press release 16-05-2010 (on Behalf of ASIAN TIGERS)
This is a press release from Taliban Media Center commenting on the fake audio tape issued by some secret agency of pakistan. We are actively condumn the reliability of this tape since there was no conversatin like that in between us and Mr. Hamid Mir.

Althoug we have talked with many different persons of media. It
is very often and there is no doubt that they are not involved with us. This is seems to be a conspiracy to destroy the reputation of Mujahideen and the brave people of this
country who want to bring truth in front while revealing the dark faces of this nation.

Suppose, this audion tape can be accepted as a true one than it is
also demanded that the video tapes of Shery Rehman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Salman Taseer should also be treated as the same degree. Since sexy pictures of Salman Taseer’s
daughter and sons are on media so can any one tell the nation how a loose characterd person can be a governor of a province. What action should government agencies took? Why they are delaying?

Unfortunately the secret agenceis of Pakistan are directly opposing the nations benefits and try to sabotash the well repudiated personalities and institutions for the greater interst of their own. We also like to remind the fake movie, released
to media for defacing the actual good will of Mujahideen in swat. That was prooved to be faked later but on its basis army did the brutal assault/operation of the whole area. Now people of this country must understand that Mujahideen are not their enemies. But the government, politicians and military
beaurucrates are the real enemies of this nation.

Also it is demanded by us that all the relevant records of phone calls in between us and the major media representatives should also be released for public pursuation. ASIAN TIGERS had prooves for their satisfaction that’s why they kidnapped Khalid Khwaja. We contacted the ASIAN TIGERS on this matter and they denied any kind of connections with either Mr.Hamid Mir or any other person related to media. They also condumns the fake audio tape. Also they demanded the actual agenceies who bring this tape. If these agenceies have any kind of proof then they need to bring it in front. Who forced ASIAN TIGERS to kidnap Khalid Khwaja and Colonel Imam with Asad Qureshi. What was the role or Gen. Hameed Gul and Gen. Aslam
Beg. Where you fit Ibrahim Parachi and Shah Abdul Aziz. Either Gen. Hameed Gul and Gen. Aslam Beg are the actual Punjabi Taliban or this tape is the fake one. Ibrahim Parachi is also the CIA agent and Shah Abdul Aziz is a doule agent of Xe and ISI.

If Mr. Hamid Mir attracted or give instructions to ASIAN TIGERS in order to kidnap Khalid Khwaja then they must have conversations more than once. These tapes should also be published for media. Are we right in demanding this action? If
Mr. Hamid Mir gave proof to ASIAN TIGERS then he also gave instructions to them for kidnapping Khalid Khwaja & company. We expect that very soon these tapes should also be available on internet and youtube. By the way what exactly the dates of
this tape is.

Secondly, who gave the authority to PTCL or any government agency to tape a phone prior to any court order. By doing this PTCL is also establishing it’s reputaion as an alley of terrorists (Govt. of Pakistan, ISI and Army). If this happened again
then PTCL should ready to get the most suitable answer in proper manner. Although we know how PTCL was sold to these culprits and Khwaja was also involed in that deal. Do you want to raise the curtain?

PTCl should clear it’s position in order to bring the facts if this
tape is true or fake. If they claim it is a true tape then they also give explanation why they tape these calls. If this is the fake one then they also took legal actions against that agency.

If PTCL will not take any action then no problem, we are here and you have a very little time for confession.

Take care.
