Game theory says that doves can live among hawks by being this way. Ahmedis in Pakistan have probably reached a Nash equilibrium in Pakistan. This can be upset only by goading other Pakis to kill them, rather than getting Ahmedis to revolt.

I don't see what the fuss about Ahmedis in Pureland is. Pureland was created for Muslims. Then it must be defined who a muslim is. After all, a Hindu can also claim to be muslim and thus the privileges of being a first class citizen of Pureland. Whenever you have a favored group, membership for that group has to be defined, otherwise you will have all sorts of gatecrashers. In racist America, the question of who was white was very important. Were you white if you were 1/8 black? Were Indians white (as one Sikh gentleman tried to argue in 1922 based on "Aryan" origins)? So Ahmediyas are not muslim as they violate one of the tenets on Islam. It's quite logical, and the result of creating a state based on a fascist ideology to start with.

Ahmededis were yet to be constitutionally declared non-muslim then.

anupmisra, the common mistake is that poor Zia is blamed for all the ill-effects of Islamization. The real culprit is ZAB. The Ahmedis were ex-communicated by law in 1974 during the glorious reign of ZAB.

Gen. Zia, the proud architect of Operation Black September on Palestenian camps at at Irbid, Salt, Sweileh,Baq'aa, Wehdat and Zarqa, only made the life more miserable for the Qadianis by restricting some of their religious practices, again by Law.

In 1953, when Abu Ala al-Mawdudi inspired anti-Ahmedi riots took place in the Punjab, a judicial committee was setup to investigate it consisting of the then Chief Justice of Pakistan and another Judge of the Supreme Court. They came to the conclusion that no ulema could clearly define who a Muslim was. Mawdudi was awarded death penalty.

Today, every Muslim Pakistani has to declare the following in the application form for a Passport: “I consider Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Quadiani to be an imposter nabi and also consider his followers whether belonging to the Lahori or Qadiani group to be Non-Muslim.”

When the Law forbidding the Qadianis from calling themselves as Muslims was challenged in the Pakistani SC, the court not only confirmed the validity of the ordinance but also invoked Copyrights Act and how Coca Cola, for example, would not tolerate anybody selling colas under its brand name !!

One more tidbit about Prof. Abdus Salam. He wanted his body to be buried in his native place. But, when his body arrived, no government official or leader turned up to receive it.

Expressing deep sorrow and anger over the Isreali aggression to bomb the aid fleet, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan has said that Israel has unleashed a wave of terror because of the US continued support. “If the US stops supporting the Israeli regime then the whole region will take a sigh of relief and peace and tranquility will return to the whole region,” he remarked.
Pakistanis are past masters at making up facts. In this case they also got the name of the country wrong.....If the US stops supporting Pakistan then the whole region will return to peace and tranquility.

A new sectarian dimension to terrorism in Pakistan
As identities of some of the more prominent among the dead were disclosed by the media, many could be heard saying that they wouldn't have wanted this fact to come out. That is how they have lived and practised their faith in Pakistan for decades now.
And, there is considerable angst over the absence of a sense of outrage against what happened on Friday and the government's response to the bloodiest attack on a minority sect
While no one expects the Pakistan People's Party (PPP)-led government to undo founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's (ZAB) legacy of declaring the Ahmadis as non-Muslims, what is expected of a polity that is professing democracy is instilling a sense of security among the Ahmadis who had moved their headquarters from Qadian on the Indian side of Punjab to Pakistan after Partition in the hope of avoiding religious persecution in India.
Regarded as heretics, the main points of difference are the Ahmadis' belief that the founder of their faith, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, is a prophet and their refusal to accept the concept of jihad against non-believers. Moreover, according to a risk assessment of minorities made by a University of Maryland project, the Ahmadis have resisted the politicisation of Islam and, therefore, the concept of an Islamic state.

For friendship across the border
The Mumbai attacks were such a huge blow…

We know that and have condemned it. Pakistanis don't approve of such attacks, but you have to understand that we're also victims of terrorism. {This is a standard and cliched line. They are all together in this}
And then, thy need our help . . .
Do you think some of the recent initiatives are making a difference?

Definitely... Surgery for newborns with cardiac problems is not possible in Pakistan. Last year we sent about 100 children to Bangalore and Delhi for surgery.

Do they get Indian visas easily?

For medical cases there is no problem… the Indian High Commission is very generous about it… Besides cardiac problems, even our cancer detection facilities are not good and people have to come to India for screening. For liver transplants Pakistanis would like to come to India. The quality of healthcare is very good here. Next we are trying to send 200 children by a chartered aircraft to Kolkata for heart surgery; hospitals there have come forward to do the operations. If 200 children land together, it becomes a media event, otherwise the media are not interested.

We can always expect Pakis to follow their mai-baaps. Here's more on parallels between Ahmediyas and Mormons of US that I mentioned earlier. The treatment meted out to these by more pious is similar in both countries.

The "Mormons" of Islam
The treatment of Joseph Smith and the first generation or so of Mormons is a dark stain on America's history of actualizing the commitment to religious freedom codified in the First Amendment to the US Constitution. Smith and his followers were driven from east to west across the country, often victims of violence and crime. Smith himself was tarred and feathered by a mob in Ohio in 1832, suffered property confiscations and violence in Missouri, and was finally murdered by another mob as he sat in a jail in Illinois. His claim of being a latter-day prophet of Jesus Christ caused controversy long before his revelation of the principle of plural marriage, which added fuel to the fire and pushed people's tolerance to the breaking point. Mainline Christians still cannot wrap their arms around the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Some of the most vitriolic stuff out there is "anti-Mormon" material on the internet offered by Christians who view them as enemies of the true faith.

The Muslims have their "Mormons" as well. They are known as the Ahmadiyya community, named after Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, a late 19th century Punjabi who began a movement in Northern India rooted in his claims to be the bringer of a latter-day Islamic renaissance. He also claimed to be the messiah foretold by prophecy and to be the second coming of Jesus. In most other respects, the Ahmadiyya cohere with traditional Islam, but the latter - in both Sunni and Shia forms - considers Mirza Ghulam Ahmad to be apostate and the community he founded to be non-Islamic.

OT but I'd bang my head on the wall if the hospitals in India treat these Pakis for free as they have been doing all along to get some praise from the Psec DDM. These are the same hospitals who kick out the country's poor & downtrodden out of their premises like they're scum & still welcome Paki sapoles with open arms.

The saga of Chinese locomotives continues
After succeeding to win two tenders to supply 144 locomotives to the Pakistan Railways worth billions of rupees, the Chinese locomotive company is trying its best to stop the Railways from purchasing 150 locomotives from America.

The Chinese company, Dong Fang Electric Corporation, has also started writing to various organisations on exclusion from the recent 150 locomotives purchase. PR officials said the Chinese company officials lost their temper before the PR officials on Monday for not getting a chance to bid in the tender for 150 locomotives. The General Manager PR confirmed to The News about the attitude of the Chinese company officials in a pre-bid meeting.

The federal minister for railways had publicly stated a few months back that the Sino-Pak friendship had forced the PR to award tender for procurement of 75 locomotives to the Chinese company while he was willing to purchase locomotives from an American company because Railways had a bad experience with the Chinese locomotives.

Whore doesn't have any money.
Those chinese locomotives are also probably on loan.
Now massa has given them some soft loan or under the aegis of the KL bill is funding these locomotives, so the pakistanis are bound to buy them from massa. IOW massa is funding sales from its own industry.

No way that Pakistan has the money to buy these many locomotive engines.

In a normal world, they would have bought these from Chittranjan Motor Works, which will be more cost effective, and customized to the indian subcontinent's environment. But Pakistan has long ceased to be a 'normal' country.

I could never understand this paki penchant for taking up the new found "palestinian cause" although their own leadership in the past was responsible for the massacres of hundreds of palestinians. More Palestenians got killed in brutal assaults by armoured corps under the command of one Zia-ul-Haq, attacking the refugee camps in Jordan than in the hands of the Israelis. Pakistan sided with its Western masters in the Suez canal crisis and in the Palestine case rather than with the ummah.

Paki food rejected
Fit enough for believers, only!

‘European countries reject 134 Pak food consignments’
KARACHI: The European countries have rejected 134 food export consignments from Pakistan due to presence of pesticides residues, heavy metals and afro-toxin during the last three years, an official said on Tuesday. Speaking at a food seminar organised by Pegasus Consultancy at the Karachi Expo Centre, Dr Mubarik Ahmed, Director Grain Quality Testing Laboratories, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) said that most of these consignments were of chilies, spices, dry fruits, pickles and brown rice. “We are also receiving alert notices from the European countries,” he said, and underlined the need to improve the quality of exported food by removing pesticide residues, heavy metal and afro-toxin material to earn better prices.

Looking at Rehman Malik's statement on action in south pakjab makes me wear my chaankiya hat does this mean that Hafeez Saeed is let go for H&D purposes and the action is started against the pakjabi jihadis not to appease yindoos but under the ahmedia pretex. That way it can always be painted as our war and not India's? can any one explain.

Note the beautiful spin by Dr. Ahmed in the article -- this dude ought to play for the Paki cricket team. Guy is trying to spin that they need to remove the pesticides, heavy metals and aflatoxins in order to earn better prices, not because they're harmful to humans :D. What's next?? Saying that they should remove strontium, cyanide and mit der Mice Schitt from the rice to earn better prices.

That is a false allegation by the EU, it is a conspiracy by Hindu Zionists working with RAW,CIA,MI5,Mossad and Haggannah to defame Pakistan. There cannot be Afro-toxins from Pakistan as Pakis are all tall, FAIR, and tight-assed, having descended directly from Arabs, with Greek and Turkish blood mixed in.

Pakistan, Bangladesh Want India Cotton Sales Honored, Times Says
June 2 (Bloomberg) -- Pakistan and Bangladesh have demanded that contracts made with Indian growers for the supply of cotton before exports were suspended last month should be honored, the Economic Times said, citing an official it didn’t identify.

In separate letters to the Indian government, they have also said that future cotton supplies to the countries should not be disturbed, the newspaper said.
How about pakis fulfilling their side of bargains first. They can fulfill the UN resolution of 1948 and then the Shimla Accord of 1972. As for Bangladesh there is no harm in being a little generous and helping them since they have been helping us recently.

US asks Pakistan to act against LeT, other anti-India groups (Hindustan Times)
"We don't distinguish among terrorist or violent extremist groups who operate out of Pakistan. That means acting as effectively against groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba as well," US Undersecretary of State William Burns said on Tuesday ahead of the first India-US strategic dialogue starting today.
"We will not inject ourselves into issues that divide the two governments unless India and Pakistan ask for our help... And we will continue to urge Pakistan to take decisive action against the violent extremists who threaten its own interests as much as they do the security of India and America," Burns said...
"To put in simply," he said, "the only 'hyphen' that we will pursue with respect to our relationship is the one that links the United States and India."

Najam Sethi's take on weather the Taliban are gaining strength in Pakistani Punjab. History of Ahmediyas being declared non muslims. "The chickens are coming home to roost". Grills Rana Sanaullah.
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMja3RBdXtQ (Very interesting)
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IxORGYluSY (boring: Lahore Chief of Police not appointed yet)
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgJVfh_N27w (Dhamakedaar)
Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AHtcNPei4s
Part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76B0Im-85VM

Najam sethi rolls out some interesting statistics: 45%of the madarsas in Pakistan are in Southern Punjab. Most of the kids go to FATA for suicide bombing training

Aflatoxin is a known carcinogen. Most commonly causes stomach cancer.
It is produced by a fungus that grows on poorly stored wheat and grain.

Pakistan's storage capability is likely to be poor. I don't think that they have the tradition of spending on such small small things, such as building quality graineries. All that they spend on is, bribes and embezzelment, and military hardware and the commissions that the purchase gives them.

Travel across the Indian punjab and you'll find really modern graineries all over the place.
