IMO, more important than the fourth category, which is only cases of extreme compassion, is the following from the above link:Brad Goodman wrote:Visa norms for some Pakistani nationals relaxed
Three categories look Ok to me. I am not sure I really understand the implication of 4th category.
While some of these people may have a genuine case, there has been a lot of anti-India activity going on in a certain pocket of Kerala from where most of these people emigrated earlier. The Ministry is also considering grant of long-term visa for male Muslim members who were Indian citizens, but went to Pakistan after Partition, leaving behind their families in India. These persons had returned to India on a valid passport issued by the Pakistani government and settled in Kerala so that they could acquire Indian citizenship.
Such Pakistani nationals were unable to extend the validity period of their passports for reasons such as the Pakistan High Commission's refusal to extend the validity of passport in the absence of computerised national identity card.
Pakistan is issuing computerised national identity cards to its nationals and extends the validity of passports only for those who possess such cards.

I was in Lagos in the middle of last year and I came across a lot of Lebanese, Indian and Pakistani merchants. The Tablighi Jamaat is also preety active there which only laid bare to me the increased Wahabization of the Nigerian Muslims. We were on the trail of a scam operation. Even though the trail went dead (the evidence could not be used in a US court) but we sniffed around and saw a lot of signs of major cooperation among the Desis, Pakis and Lebanese in orchestrating these scam operaitons. They have college educated computer programmers and people with western accounting expertise in their employment. Some government personnel involvement provides them protection and cover. Two particular trail comes to mind. One led all the way to a business in Hong Kong. It had a Paki and a Chinese partnership. Another trail led to another business in Karachi which was relayed to us as belonging to a Sindhi family. I suspect there could be connection with Hisbollah through the Lebanese involvement. The Tablighi Jamat could be providing mules to move havala money and other contrabands across borders and the Pakis could be a major part of it. The Desis involvement is a puzzle. Why get into bed with these terrorist elements that is busy undermining the motherland? Nigeria is a bad place. We had the friendship of a military figure that gave enough security but even that was not enough to nab one scamster successfully and we were no interested in catching the black small fry high school drop out trying to make a buck sitting infront of a computer doing the Nigerian version of "back office service".

Well the horse is out of the barn now. Iran's Press TV, their official news organ, confirms that the Pakistanis are holding Mullah Omar. They obviously have an agenda, but this is interesting.A former senior member of the militant group says Pakistani security forces are harboring the fugitive Taliban leader, Mullah Omar in Karachi. Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi told an Afghan news website that Mullah Omar is now in the Pakistani city of Karachi. Hanafi was the governor of central Urozgan Province under the Taliban regime. The developments come as US and its allies intend to remove Mullah Omar from the black list in a bid to provide a suitable seedbed for holding contacts. Brad thinks that Omar may soon become the victim of a drone strike so the Pakistanis are off the hook for holding him and not sharing that with us. That is certainly plausible and would save them trouble, but it may be too late for that.
Omar as head of the Quetta Shura and the Afghan Taliban and Baradar, his number 2, are not involved then it is near impossible to make any real kind of peace deal. That also explains why official US sources have not wanted to admit the Pakistanis were holding him. Now an interesting question is why are the Iranians dropping this info now, and again it looks to be an effort to weaken our ability to negotiate. Now the Pakistanis are in the hot seat and they need to answer for why they have been holding him without officially telling us, and our government needs to answer for what the consequences of that are. Or like Brad said, Omar might just get returned to his component molecules.

Know your enemy
Know your enemy
And this isn't unusual. My son writes me about two young teen boys who recently warned his unit of an impending ambush. Two days later they were found decapitated.
This is the same enemy which, when in charge, executed women in the national soccer stadium in Kabul for the slightest offense. Who banned kite flying, music and education for women. They are what they are. All their attempts to change their public face to that of "freedom fighters" only attempts to mask the real murderous and intolerant core that is fundamental to their movement. This is one of the reasons we fight. Any group who makes war on 7 year olds doesn't deserve to continue to exist.

The recent disappearance of two men in the Pakistani-administered Kashmir has once again raised questions over Pakistan's role in the murky militant war in Kashmir.
They had once worked as guides, who are used by militants needing their local and navigational expertise to traverse the treacherous mountain passes that separate Indian-administered Kashmir from Pakistani-administered Kashmir.
Relatives of the missing men say they were "picked up" by a couple of Pakistani intelligence officials on the morning of 25 May from their houses in Falakan - a village in the Neelum valley region - and coerced into once again working as guides. …………………………….
"Two men of the agency [the name used by local people to describe Pakistan's ISI intelligence services] came to our house on 25 May and asked my husband, Mohammad Iqbal, to accompany them," Zulfan Bibi, a mother of five, told the BBC Urdu service.
"My husband told them he was getting old and his eyesight had weakened and so it was difficult for him to walk the mountain trails he used to cover in the past. But they threatened us with consequences if he did not go," she said.
"Later in the evening, those officials came back to inform me that my husband went across the LoC and has since made no contact with them."
Another woman, Taslim Bibi, whose husband Mohammad Salim was taken away by the same officials, tells a similar story.
"They wanted him to lead mujahideen [militants] to the other [Indian] side," she says. ………………………………

Blast near naval base kills 1, injures 3
By Faraz Khan
KARACHI: A Pakistan Naval Police official was killed and three others injured when a bomb exploded at the main gate of the naval base on Hub River Road in Baldia Town on Thursday morning.
According to sources, the Lashkar-e-Balochistan, linked with the Balochistan Liberation Army, has claimed responsibility of the attack.
According to the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) experts, the perpetrators planted a bomb containing two to two-and-a-half kilogrammes of explosives on a motorcycle near the gate of the naval base.
Following the blast, a heavy contingent of law enforcers arrived at the scene and cordoned-off the locality.
The blast claimed the life of a contractual Naval police employee Muhammad Zada, 35, and injured a retired deputy superintendent of police Salman Khan, 35, Boat Basin police Head Constable Masood Ahmed and Naval police Assistant Sub-Inspector Badrul Islam, while six motorcycles were also completely destroyed.
Pakistan Navy officials took position as soon as the blast occurred and the people were asked to vacate the area to avoid any untoward incidents.
A bank located near the main gate was closed down, while most officials and customers remained inside.
According to the BDS officials, the bomb was connected to the battery of the motorcycle and a delay switch was used to set the time. They reckoned the bomb exploded eight minutes after the delay switch was turned on.
Police officials suspected the perpetrators wanted to carry out a suicide attack, but were unable to do so due to the stringent security measures taken by the Pakistan Navy at the main gate.
According to South zone Deputy Inspector General Iqbal Mehmood, the attacker had to park the motorcycle outside the naval base, due to which maximum damage was avoided.
Officials suspected the Pakistan Navy Ammunition Depot located near the site of the blast might have been the target of the attackers.
According to sources, the Navy and civil agencies have started investigating the case and would share the outcome with the law enforcers within three days.
Two young suspects, namely Hasnain and Mumtaz, have also been arrested and taken to an undisclosed location for further questioning.

An oath on the Quran
As the Pakistan Cricket Board examines allegations of match fixing, it transpires that the plot was hatched at Inzi and Joseph’s instigation. The irony is that the duo resorted to the most objectionable religious blackmail to make the players do their bidding. Our mole reports that six players, including Shoaib Malik, the Akmal Brothers, Rana Naveed and two others were summoned by Inzi and Joseph to dinner. There they told them that Yunus’ captaincy had to be rendered unsuccessful. And they discussed the means to do it, in other words, matches were fixed and the outcome predetermined. Shockingly, Inzi and Joseph brought out a copy of the Quran and asked every player to swear an oath on the Holy Book to confirm their stated intention. The players did as they were told. It appears that Joseph wanted to replace Yunus and be captain of the team and he and Inzi had agreed that the latter would be the team’s coach. This duo wear their religion on their sleeve, sporting masses of facial hair and affecting pious postures. Do they think that swearing oaths on the Quran to cheat is the right way to go?
Doing the JK
A fly on the wall of the hallowed halls where sits the apex bench has informed us of an interesting development. The fly reports that when the Chief Adjudicator & Co were going full tilt towards a conclusion of the NRO case, with every intention to tighten the noose around Hubby’s neck, they made some precautionary inquiries to test the waters. They let the khakis know that they would be asking for help in the implementation of the verdict, should the civilian law enforcing authorities decide not to oblige them. In effect, this would entail asking the khakis to come to the aid of the court and physically enforce their verdict against Hubby. We hear the khakis thought about it, and conferred with their advisors (here and abroad) and came to the conclusion that they would follow the precedent set by a former army chief, General Jehangir Karamat. In 1997, the then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court asked Gen JK to send troops to disperse a mob attack by the PML N on the Court. Gen JK refused to oblige, saying that any instructions to that effect should come from the prime minister and the president. We hear it was following this sobering exchange that the court backed off temporarily.

Col Imam for Mullah Baradar?
Columnist Nusrat Mirza wrote in Jang that the abduction of two ex-ISI officers Col Imam (Sultan Amir Tarar) and Khalid Khwaja by the Taliban could be to obtain leverage on Mullah Baradar arrested by Pakistan and being interrogated by the Americans. In his opinion, Karzai could be behind the double game.
Hamid Gullianwisdom
Quoted in Jang ex-ISI chief Hamid Gul said that America was responsible for the killings of Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan, General Zia and Benazir Bhutto. Benazir was killed by the US because she refused to accept the martial law of General Musharraf, he said.
Khalid Khwaja turns journalist
According to chief editor Jinnah Khalid Khwaja rang him on his way to Mir Ali and said that just as he had once interviewed Mullah Umar he was now thinking of changing over to journalism. He was going to interview Qari Hussain of TTP for the BBC along with journalist Asad Qureshi. Khalid Khwaja’s death was probably caused by his revelation to chief editor Jinnah that he was now hired by Channel Four for covering terrorism. The chief editor thought that Col Imam would be released.
Imran will bring revolution but…
Famous chief editor Jinnah stated that Imran Khan was the leader of the future and the nation was waiting for him to transform the country but the problem was that he had no ‘team’. Imran Khan’s biggest weakness was his failure to answer the question: who is with you? The only way out was that Imran Khan should keep his mouth shut and just listen to the people. And he should not neglect women.
Rana Sanaullah and Lashkar Jhangvi
After allegations against Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah of hobnobbing with the banned terrorist organisation Sipah Sahaba, Daily Aajkal reported that Rana Sanaullah had confessed that big money had been paid from his PMLN government to the Shia-killer Malik Ishaq leader of Lashkar Jhangvi, now in jail in Lahore with full cell-phone facilities. Killers who attacked the Sri Lankan team in Lahore have confessed that Malik Ishaq gave them orders on his cell phone from jail. The government was negligent in protecting witnesses against Lashkar Jhangvi, who keep dying or being intimidated. After eight of them were killed, the witnesses kept deposing against Malik Ishaq for eight years, without the court deciding the case. Punjab government was paying monthly handouts to the sectarian killers.
Judges and Qadianis
Daily Jinnah quoting its own chief editor said that the Supreme Court had the right to strike down an amendment passed by parliament and gave as example the case when the parliament actually removed the Qadiani-apostatising amendment from the Constitution. He held that the judges would be under obligation to strike it (the removal) down.
Shoaib-Sania marriage doomed {Normally I do not post Shoaib-Sani marriage snippets, but this is different}
Famous chief editor Jinnah wrote that marriage of Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and Indian tennis star Sania Mirza was doomed unless Shoaib did the bidding of his in-laws as guided by the intelligence agencies of India. Marriage will last if he takes Sania Mirza’s dictation and allows her to make him dance tigni ka natch. Pakistan gave honour to the Mirzas but their heads have turned (damagh kharab ho gayay).
End of Khalid Khwaja
According to Jinnah Khalid Khwaja was killed in Miran Shah in North Waziristan by the Taliban and his dead body was received in Islamabad while the BBC commented that he was one of the founders of the IJI who served Osama bin Laden as a pilot.
Qureshi rubbing salt on wounds
Daily Islam reported that Pakistan Water Movement had protested intensely against a statement by foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi that India was not stealing any Pakistani water. The Movement complained that instead of rubbing salt in their wounds Mr Qureshi should think of representing his country instead of speaking in favour of India.
Javed Hashmi versus Qureshi
Quoted in Nawa-e-Waqt PMLN leader Javed Hashmi said that leaders always speak for the people but in the case of water stealing by India some leaders seemed to be working on someone else’s agenda. Liaquat Baloch stated Shah Mehmood Qureshi looked more like foreign minister of India than of Pakistan.
Ex-MI chief in ‘trubbel’
Daily Jang reported PPP and PMLN leaders as accusing the former Military Intelligence chief General Nadeem Ijaz of victimising a number of politicians. He also plotted a raid on the car of chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry on the Islamabad-Lahore motorway. Ijaz was accused of having ordered the hosing of the place where Benazir was killed. Javed Hashmi of PMLN once tried to catch hold of him by the neck but he escaped into his bathroom. He also tried to go over the head of General Kayani to report to General Musharraf. He was involved in the killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti and inflicted torture on PMLN leader Pervez Rashid.
‘Third force’ in action
Daily Jang reported that PMLN leaders accused military intelligence (MI) of creating a rift between the parliament and the judiciary. He said that the army and its intelligence institutions – ISI often included – were trying to cause tasadam (clash). Ahsan Iqbal referred to teesri quwwat (third force) and said that clash was being plotted.

Reactions from the streets of Pakistan about the failed Times Equare bomb. - TFT
Newspapers and TV channels, immediately after Faisal Shahzad’s capture, clamoured that this was just another scheme to destabilise Pakistan and deprive it of its nuclear assets.
Khalid, a passer-by on the Mall Road, opined, “Can you not see that US drones are killing innocent Muslims in FATA? Muslims are being bombed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir and Palestine. This was a reaction against the barbaric policies of America. Jihad is part and parcel of our belief, which is incomplete till we are ready to totally adapt ourselves according to Islamic teachings.”
But one of Khalid’s companions, Asghar, softened his stance, saying, “Islam does not permit killing innocent people.”
“But who are the innocent? Who decides into which category a human being fits?” I asked.
“It is simple. Those who believe in God and follow the prophet (PBUH) to purify their lives are innocent,” replied Asghar.
I asked them if they thought that Faisal was right in doing what he did. They felt that it was a reaction which might be illegal, “but our sympathies are with our Muslim brethren.”
Salim, a college student, has the perspective, that in our current situation Muslims are desperate for a “renaissance”. Every tactic used to forward the “Muslim” agenda and counter all pervasive Western intervention is justified.
We are at the receiving end because of their (jihadists) wrong doings.” He also cited the Turkish model as the way forward. But when I asked about the relation between the state policies, “strategic depth” and jihad, he took a u-turn and justified nourishing the militant outfits. “They are necessary to counter the ‘Indian moves’. Time has also proved that we were right in our decision to bury the Soviets in Afghanistan.”
“The majority is either a victim of jihadist rhetoric or is criminally silent. There are many who do not condone acts committed by groups like the Lashkar-e-Taiba or individuals like Faisal. The reason for the majority leaning towards an anti-West mindset is the billions of dollars invested in seminaries. There is dynamite stored in every nook and corner of the country,” says Ajmal, a rickshaw driver at a tea-stall late at night.
“The day is not far when the Ummah will unite under a single banner. We will crush the Jews and the Hindus, as they can never withstand the pure message of Islam,” says Mehmood, a recent graduate of Punjab University, where he was groomed by the Islami Jamiat Talaba. “The situation would be completely different during the final clash between the West and the East {Where is India then ? West or East ?},” he further elaborated. I have omitted some of his inappropriate remarks about Jewish females, although he claims to be a custodian of morality.

The rot has set in deep and the purification, if and when it comes, will be painful and not for the faint hearted. May better sense prevail (hoping against hope).

Drop in wheat consumption explained
According to an UN report, consumption of wheat in Pakistan fell 10 percent last year. The report claimed that the reason was a loss in purchasing power of the masses.
However, an article in this morning's Business Recorder claims that the real reasons are:
(1) The purchase of 30 per cent of wheat used to be for confectionary items and bakeries are closing all over Karachi and hence there is a drop in demand.
(2) Smuggling from Pakistan of wheat to Afghanistan has dried up since international price of wheat is a lot lower than that in Pakistan.
link: http://www.brecorder.com.pk/index.php?id=1068414
How plausible is the explanation?

Food insecurity high in provinces other than Punjab
The report — The state of food security in Pakistan — sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation says that almost half of the people are chronically food insecure. It says that 80 of the 131 districts (61 per cent) are food insecure. Of these, 45 districts (34 per cent) are extremely food insecure, up from 38 in 2003.
Except Punjab, some districts in the other provinces were in extremely food insecure group. Lakki Marwat, Karak and Malakand districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Umerkot, Mirpurkhas and Dadu in Sindh; Dalbandin, Panjgur, Nushki, Loralai, Mastung, Turbat and Mach in Balochistan and Neelum, Muzaffarabad and Kotli in POJK were added to the extremely food insecure group.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has the highest percentage of people in the poor food consumption category, followed by Balochistan and Fata. With an increase in poverty, people spend more on food than on other items. Within the poorest group, the average household expenditure on food has gone up to 61.6 per cent in 2009 from 55.6 per cent in 2005-6.

At night, the dancing halls open for a few hours, providing customers with the entertainment of diluted traditional mujra and Bollywood dances for a few rupees. The more accomplished a girl is, the more money she is paid. But hovering in corners are owners who take most of the earnings. In 2008, a judge in Lahore's high court declared the mujra dance vulgar and banned it from stages in a gesture of good will to pacify the mullahs and the Taliban.Late one night, Pino, a Madam, wags her finger in a sign to follow her. I quickly cover my head in my hijab, the commonly used headscarf, and conceal my camera underneath. There is a certain rush mixed with fear and confusion. I am not sure where she is taking me. A few minutes later, after being hurried through dark alleys, we enter a doorway. I follow as fast as I can, struggling up the stairs toward the second floor through complete blackness, feeling a rat brushing against my leg. A moment later, I enter a room where a TV is blaring and smoke from joints hangs heavy in the air.A woman, surrounded by children, sits on her bed. Pino gestures for me to hurry. There is a young man, assigned by Lubna as a bodyguard and "translator." Even though his English vocabulary is extremely limited, I am glad to have him there. He tells me in a tense voice, "Picture quick, police come!" I am inside a brothel.

A few weeks ago, Army Chief Gen. Kiyani invited editors and columnists to a press briefing. Interestingly, Ahmek Quraishi, Shireen Mazari, Shaheen Sehbai, and Shahid Masood were not invited. Was this an intentional snub by the military brass to send a clear signal that these people do not speak for the military? Or was it just that these journalists are so irrelevant that the Army did not think to invite them?Usually, if a reporter is truly close to the establishment, they are not only invited, they are given special access like a closed door briefing before the official briefing so that they can get background statements from the officials. These four not only got no invitation to a closed door briefing, they were not even invited to the regular press briefing!Ahmed Quraishi, Shireen Mazari, Shaheen Sehbai, and Shahid Masood are well known for claiming to be unofficial experts on the Pakistani establishment – especially the military. They are always saying that they have spoken to high up sources, even when what they say turns out to be wrong. But it seems from this latest snub that they are not as connected as they claim to be.Ahmed Quraishi and Shireen Mazari in particular tend to represent ‘old think’ on security issues. They support a military coup and for the military to cut iself off from allied powers and are opposed to the present democracy and the way that Gen. Kiyani is working with the government. While each of them probably has some contacts from the military, it could be that their contacts may not be current military leaders. Also, it could be that their sources are actually retired military or ex-military who supported the Musharraf and Zia dictatorships and are filling their heads with false information rather than accurate information in attempt to disrupt the actual policies of the current military establishment.

Acceptability: The majority of the population in IHK and AJK rejects Kashmir's being part of India, but are divided over the question of acceding to Pakistan or becoming independent. Since a Kashmir settlement is not imminent, this need not divide the APHC or the Azadi movement. Pakistan needs to emphasise its respect for Kashmiri opinion without pushing its own preferences. It is crucial that any position or strategy adopted by Pakistan should have the support of the majority of Kashmiris. To a great extent, Article 257 of the Pakistani Constitution guarantees that the option of acceding to Pakistan embodies the substance of the Azadi option. It gives the Kashmiris the right to determine their relationship with Pakistan. This should be reiterated as policy in all appropriate forums and implemented. India may well claim the same for Article 370 of its constitution. But its claim is belied by the experience of the Kashmiris of IHK. Accordingly, it is critically important, pending a Kashmir settlement in accordance with the UN resolutions, for Pakistan to ensure in practice that the people of AJK and Gilgit and Baltistan enjoy the full range of political and representation rights available to citizens of Pakistan, and are able to determine their relationship with the Federation in accordance with Article 257 of the Constitution. This is urgent, as it would provide a model for the majority in IHK and strengthen the unity of the APHC and the Azadi movement. Rule from Islamabad is not an option. Thus, we have a policy framework of maximising the rate and quality of Pakistan's economic growth and development, normalising relations with India, and strengthening the unity of the Azadi movement in IHK. Critics who say India will never accept a non-status-quo territorial settlement miss the point. Nor will we compromise on Kashmiri rights. But a settlement process respectful of Kashmiri rights and wishes and a normalisation process with India can be compatible because it would be mutually beneficial

Essentially Qazi is advocating a new begging position that adds to the long list of begging positions specialised by Pakbarian animals. The essence of this position is that 'please allow us to grow, despite our obsession with Kashmir and reluctance to do away with it'
Gives us one more good reason to keep the pot boiling and keep bearded barbarians on the streets of TSp, attacking each other like wild animals...and fighting as to who gets to be the most anti-indian...

Suppiah:
Basically Qazi is reflecting TSP RAPE group think. I like his chitzpah when he talks about normalization with India sans Kashmir at the moment. Can you image, the same motherf%^&*$rs were howling core issue and there is nothing else to talk about. Now the b#$%^&rds want to turn the tables on India. And note no remorse from the dishonest puke on terror, its about "violence between India and TSP".
But basically what he saying is that Kashmir will fall into TSP's lap, but the time is not ripe. So, lets make up with India, whatever that means, grow by leaps and bounds, and then make a push for Kashmir.

Yes, that is why the message should go loud and clear that we are not going to allow Pakbarian animals a moment of peace or growth until they give up on Kashmir. All they can do is to kill a few innocent civilians, even in that they cannot beat the good job Indian Railway / drunk Indian truck drivers are doing...

Suppaih-> Ads far as TSP is concerned , causualties less than 50 are not material and should be ignored, yesterday was a peaceful day in TSP.
Regarding the discussion on page 24 of this thread between, A Gupta , Shiv and et all regarding the mutton prices increasing but the availability of Goats increasing. For me there is no contradiction in this. See the many TSP Abduls require these Goats for certain other purposes.... These animals are precious and are used until they die. And in pureland meat from an animal that is already dead is Haram.
So, all the mutton prices indicate it is diffcult for Bucthers to purchase a live goat since the owners who use it for "other Purposes" find it difficult to do without them

Minority MNA renders government speechless
Minority MNA Akram Masih Gill made the government speechless as he posed a question in the National Assembly on Friday if alcohol was illegal, how the earning from taxes on it could be legal.
“The amount collected through excise duty on the sale of alcohol should be spent on the minorities,” he said in his budget speech. Akram Masih Gill expressed his dismay over the meagre amount of Rs150 million earmarked for the Minorities Welfare Funds in the budget and staged a walkout from the House.
Akram Masih Gill expressed concern over ignoring the Christian community and called upon the government to pay attention on the resolution of the socio-economic problems being faced by them.
He urged the government to provide special funds to the deserving Christians from Pakistan Baitul Maal besides enhancing allocations for them.He also drew the attention of the House to the prime minister’s commitment of 5 percent quota of jobs in the government departments for the minorities, which was not being followed.
Meanwhile, Maulana Asmatullah recited ‘Azan’ for Friday prayers in the National Assembly. Though the Azan had already been recited yet he came late and protested that the Azan was not heard in the NA so he was reciting it. {AoA. What religiosity !}
