IOL says
Abu Dhabi has issued notices to a handful of import export houses that trade with Iran, asking them to cease trade with Iran.

Tehran has created a parralel structure to continue trade with the world. Other sources say the banking sector in Tehran has been hit hard. A seperate unit is being set up to handle this under the command of Gen Moh'd ali Jaafari Head of the Pasdarans (the same guy who visited ISI HQ on Rigi business). One of their priorities is to hire Algerian and Malaysian oil engineers who can complete major oil projects underway in the country. The Pasdarans are using front companies to complete projects in the South Pars field. In fact a bond for investors is going to be released to finance the development.

KSA has a new air force chief. So all the US/EU defence firms are studying the guy and his history. He was in charge of the executive committee responsible for monitoring the execution of the Al-Yamamah contract between Saudi Arabia and the UK. The contract which ran from 1985 to 2006 concerned the sale of Tornado aircraft built by British Aerospace, today BAE Systems, in exchange for 600k barrels of oil per day. Yup, the one that involved a lot of corruption. He was the former commander of the big military base in Khamis Mushayt - a very important military station for KSA.

Ras al khaima - the poorest of 7 emirates of the UAE is in post succession trouble. The current ruler is very ill. The former crown prince was stripped of his position as crown prince and exiled. And he has been trying to make a comeback from exile in London, Washington etc. He is also doing a lot of lobbying etc in Washington. He frequently travels to Oman which borders RAK.
Should there be trouble in the Ras al-Khaimah, Abu Dhabi's armed forces would be called upon to intervene, as they did in 2003 when Khalid was removed from power. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, paid a bedside visit to the ailing Emir of Ras al Khaima. The visit was clearly a display of the Sheikh's support for a smooth succession in the emirate. A power struggle is being played out between the sons of Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the dying Emir of RAK.
Khalid, the eldest son, was the crown prince until 2003, when political and personal differences between father and son led to the Emir stripping him of his position.
Both sides are fighting this out by using the media. The King/current CP have written long articles in the Guardian and Der Spiegel about Khalid's quest for the throne. They attacked him.
Khalid's squadron of consultants - The exiled prince's advisors are employing similar tactics, and have provided numerous newspapers, the Washington Times and Israel's Maariv, with documents and reports accusing Ras al-Khaimah's rulers of being allied to Iran. But of course, a lot of this proved untrue. The current crown prince is accusing Sheikh Khalid of attempting coup plots.
California strategies - the company incharge of helping Sheikh Khalid, has alleged that their computers were hacked and files regarding the sheikh were stolen. So US Dept of Justice is investigating the matter.

Some sources say, Khalid has managed to convince Hillary Clinton and other big poltiicians on the Hill.
On a sidenote, RAK Petroleum has got Zalmay Khalilzad on its board - they continue to invest heavily in Iraqi Kurdistan.
So after bankruptcy of Dubai, this is the next major issue for Abu Dhabi. Khalid, who now lives in exile, still considers himself to be the legitimate heir to the throne.

Bahrain has asked for a defence agreement with Tehran. This is very interesting because Bahrain's security is dealt by Riyadh. Wonder what is going on here. This deal will probably similar to that signed by Qatar and Oman.
