Not to speak like a Paki, and its a repulsive thought, but this current Indian govt’s position as articulated by Tharoor holds no water, it is faint, and borders on cowardice; begging TSP to crack down on India-specific terror. Matter of fact, in the face of this position, TSP’s position will appear reasonable to a disinterested white audience who view both India & TSP as naughty brothers who must be made to behave under their tutelage.
TSP position is that we also victims onlee, even your own MMS said so. Mumbai was done by "non state actors", our courts are as slow as yours and you have not provided enough "evidence" bla bla and other stuff that will make you puke. Furthermore, both our countries are plagued by "extremism" and poverty bla bla, self-righteous stuff that will make you puke even more. Finally, with the KM stone-pelters in the background, TSP says the "core issue" bedevils our relationship, and if only the "core issue" is "resolved" (and everyone knows the meaning of that), everything will be hunky dory. So, the solution to all this to set aside all pre-conditions, forget about Mumbai, forget about LET; just sit down and talk about Kashmir for a start and we'll see where we go from there.
And in response to this daylight fraud from TSP, all India can come up with is to beg for some abstract action on terror and so we meet "halfway". For e.g., WTF does "dismantle infrastructure of terrorism" mean? WFT does "meeting halfway mean". TSP's position is even more clear on this one; KMs don't want to stay with you, offer them the "right to self determination". Instead, India should set some benchmarks, like say hand over Hafeez Saeed, Dawood etc. They are concrete demands. And on Kashmir, India must make it clear that its sovereignty is non-negotiable and if TSP accepts that, we can talk further. My point is for India to be a tad more aggressive, clearly set some benchmarks, relate those benchmarks to what USA/UK are also demanding from TSP, and all of India's diplomats must repeat that with deafening repetition. Heck, even David Cameron has shown more teeth on demanding what TSP must do for India to talk to it.
