mukul_chou,
I am afraid that you have provided us with very little information to correctly id the aircraft. The only hint you give is the t-tail and red star. The picture you posted is certainly a Vickers VC10. However red star suggests mother Russia. So check the pics of An-72, Il-62 and most importantly Il-76. See if the aircraft you saw was one of those.

MVHO...we can rule out the Il-76 and the An-72 based on their engine config and wing profiles.

The pilot in that pic is Kvochur but the pic is not from the same flight as that video though.

There multiple pictures from different angles:

VC-10

The aircraft is a VC-10. Only the vickers has fences on the wing.

^^chiru
definitely not jetstar ll, it was a T tail AC.

it is either Il-62 or VC 10

I had a little glimpses of it while moving by bus and ..
it was in dark gray camo and relatively(to passenger jets) smaller AC...
T tail , quad engine at tail fin root and a red star

Looks like a VC10, it can't be the IL62. There's no auxiliary engine exhaust visible and there's the "notch" visible at the aft section of the elevator which the IL62 did not have.

The aircraft also looks like it has something in the aft ventral section - probably refueling drogue. If so then its the RAF VC10 tanker version.

Just guessing, It's SA-3 Pechora. The section at the back is sustainer motor with rear fins for inhibiting booster glide. The fore section is the booster with roll control fins removed (The thrust adjustment screw at the nozzle of the booster is visible in the pic). Correct me if I am wrong.

Cheers....

There used to be an aircraft called Boeing 720. It was very similar to B 707 except that it did not have any antenae at the top of the tail / fin / vertical stabiliser. I believe that the Israeli use them for some military, probably ECM, purposes

Hawker Beechcraft Corporation’s (HBC) T-6 military trainer will come to India later this month to take part in field evaluation trials with the Indian Air Force officials as part of its competition for a new basic trainer, a HBC release said.
Interestingly the Beechcraft T 6 looks very similar to the Tucano and the Pilatus PC-9 (which is the T-6s father)

How different will they look Shiv sahab. They employ a very basic aerodynamics.

Actually to be frank, I am surprised that India has to import these, when we can build an LCA.

It should take less than a year to design and 2 years to prototype and 2 years to get clearance. It really beats me how we can miss this low lying fruit.

I go for skydiving and people there build there own two seaters, albeit not tandem in a garage! Where I make my aeromodels, a professor is building a plane like the same there.

This can't be so difficult.

I mean look at these crafts, a straight wing with a straight leading edge and a tapered trailing edge for stability, a elevator above the wake of the wing and a rudder. we already have the seating arrangement and the canopy from Tejas trainer. We are anyways going to import the engines.

Beats me why we have to import these!

Sorry for the rant.

The biggest difference appears to be in what is not visible - i.e the fuel supply to the engine. That is what has been bringing the HPT 32 down. HAL did offer the HTT 34 and I have no idea why that was never taken up seriously, leading to the current impasse.

^^^ If that is stopping our aero engineers from implementing the project in this age, then I will say nothing. But I am fairly sure, they know what to do. :)

In late 1950s, the U.S. Navy started the Polaris program which was to arm the submarines with ballistic missiles. The USSR quickly issued requirement to industries for the Anti-Submarine-Warfare system. A vehicle was initially seen as urgently needed to destroy Polaris-missile submarines. The Minister of Defense selected Bartini's floatplane design, and ordered Beriev OKB to build three prototypes. It was to be developed in three phases. The VVA-14M1 was to be a technology test-bed with inflatable pontoons. The VVA-14M2 was to be more advanced with fly-by-wire flight controls. The third stage would be the VTOL vehicle fully equipped with armament. In 1972, the first prototype made its maiden flight as as aeroplane. In 1974, the inflatable pontoons were installed but its expansion and retraction caused many problems. So later it was replaced by rigid pontoons, the fuselage was lengthened and a pair of starting engines were added. The program continued in 1974 but the engine resonance caused breakage of landing gears and rear control flaps. It never flew again and eventually drew to a close as Beriev was given higher-priority work with the A-40 and IL-78.

I owe Chirag and BalaVignesh Rs 100 each for a lost bet I saw a spectacular photo of an F/A 18 Super Hornet at the BR Bangalore meet and was stumped by its box intakes. I had failed to notice the change in intakes from Hornet to Shornet - from JF-17 type intake to box.

You live and learn.. You can collect your 100 from me the next time we meet boys. That's a promise
