Re: States News and Discussions

From Deccan Chronicle
In the last elections, the BJP had 88 seats compared to the BJP's 55. This time while Nitish Kumar's charisma and the development plank helped JDU get 25 more seats, taking their tally to 113, the BJP increased its tally by 35.

The question that emerges out of this changed equation - Will this buoyant BJP create more headaches for its alliance partner? Already, its leaders have invited Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to the swearing-in ceremony. ''We will call Narendra Modi for the swearing-in,'' says Giriraj Singh of the BJP.

Nitish Kumar had steadfastly refused to let Modi campaign fearing communal repercussions. Observers say Nitish Kumar may not be able to afford his pre-election aggression against his party's ally of 15 years, but the JDU still holds a key card which the BJP cannot disregard - Nitish Kumar's unmatched talisman of development. Add to that, the BJP does not have a leader in Bihar who can match Nitish in stature.

The latest is BJP actually got 91 seats of 102 seats. Muslim vote share is more to BJP than even to JDU and RJD. Now BJP is the new secular bloke in the town :)

Was believable till the RJB verdict but fortunately is a long shot now! Secondly the bare knuckle fight between Sangh Cadre and Kangressis in CowBelt over Sudarshan's statements have forced a lot of fence sitter cadres who voted Congress but attended Shakhas to choose sides. The polity has become sharply polarized and Nitish and Mayawati are eyeing the PM's post and they will not jeopardize their big gambit to become a "thulla" of the family. They very well know the fate of twin Yadav satraps from UP and Bihar. Had Naveen not been idiotic in his quest for political correctness he would had been the front runner for projection as NDA's PM candidate due to his clean image and urbane appeal.

Yes. That is guaranteed to shut out Laloo and assorted jokers out forever! BJP will get decimated (uppercaste votes will switch to Congress away from BJP if it is a winning alliance .. cong & bjp go for the same uppercaste base, muslims will also migrate to Congress).

The only downside is Nitish has anti congress politics in his blood (he and laloo are essentially from the anti congress camp) and Congress locks itself out of Bihar too forever.

Maybe an Indira Gandhi /MGR like trade can work in Bihar. 2/3rds of MLA seats go to JDU, while 2/3rds of MPS go to Congress. All peace and progress onree.

BJP and Lalloo can never come together. Opposition gets divided and decimated. All shock and awe resulting in a major longer term Shakinah. All, yes, long term JDU+ Congress is the way to go in the next Lok Sabha election , IFF JDU falls short of simple majority by itself by around 7 seats or so, which the congress can fill in to keep the state govt stable.
Why would any sane person want to make a deal with CON party? Nitish is no idiot. The day he makes up with CON party, it is his end. It happened to Laloo... Mulyam and then slowly to Karunanidhi.. The CON party seems to have got single digit vote percentage in Bihar. They are wiped out.

CON party's strategy is to use and throw leaders like Mulyam like condoms. They want absolutely corrupt, castiest, communal leaders with no moral obligation towards the voters such as Mulyam, Laloo, Karunanidhi. Nitish is very different. Sonia is a back stabber. Ask Amar Signh or Mulyam. The only reason why Maya keeps the stinky CON party a mile away is she knows they will destroy her.

Starting at 20mins

A good-watch on the political scenario in view of Bihar results. The interview of Arun Shourie by Pranay Roy shows where JNU jhollawallahs are stuck...

Pranay Roy puts Indian politics in to three phases

1. Pro-incumbancy (80% govts are relected)
2. Anti-incumbancy (80% govts are defeated)
3. Pro-development (50% in - performers, 50% out - non performers) (tries to put every win as performance, including INC govts  )

Arun Shoury puts it more aptly
Phase 1: Lack of opposition
Phase 2: Restlessness
Phase 3: CMs have more resources to spend and achieve results. Now the focus is on not-only on development combined with honesty

Shows the gap and explains the media-mindset.

Enough serious talks, I just find out a serious comedy materials in Lalu and Ram Bilas Paswan's election manifesto and promises they made, hefty 5 lit of Kerosene for every body-which planet this two jokers will go NOW?. All these Iftar dinner for the Muslims and photo ops, all go to waste now :rotfl:
Lalu, Paswan release joint election manifesto for Bihar Assembly polls
Tuesday - Oct 12, 2010, 03:54pm (GMT+5.5)
[+] Text [-]
Patna (ANI): Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav released the joint election manifesto along with Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan for the upcoming Bihar Assembly poll
The duo in their manifesto claimed to have covered all the issues concerning both urban and rural voters.
On the occasion, Lalu openly criticized Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government in Bihar saying it did not keep up its obligations to the people.

"Five years ago, the NDA Government which you elected could not withstand their duties. That government was not for the common men but for the special people. Poor, old people, Dalits, people from other backward classes and minorities were pushed and were sidelined," said Lalu releasing the election manifesto here on Monday.

"The NDA Government supported the black market, landlords, corrupt officials and even the quota system. They gave this a name as development," he added.
:rotfl:

Lalu further said the RJD and LJP alliance has the objective of uplifting the minorities in the State since the present Government had sidelined them,

"We have the objectives of development for the minorities. Our Government like the previous session will guarantee the security and respect for the minorities. We would induce brotherhood and love in the state. The Government will punish those who will hamper peace and harmony in the state," he added.

LJP chief Paswan on his part excluded confidence of the alliance forming the next Government in the State, and promised to distribute free kerosene oil to the people after the formation of the Government.

"24 hours after forming the coalition government, we would ensure to distribute 5 litres of kerosene oil to everybody. We will also distribute more according to the needs of the people," said Paswan.

"We will also revise the schemes under Below Poverty Line (BPL). Regularisation of contractual employees will be done. Services of the contractual teachers and contractual judicial officers would be regularised," he added.

The six-phase poll for 243 seats in Bihar begins from October 21 and concludes on November 20.

The RJD will contest from 168 seats, while its alliance partner, LJP will field its candidates in 68 seats.

Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till October 18.

Counting of votes will take place on November 24.

Vina,

Cong is yet to boot out the most corrupt people in Congress namely

1. Her Highness (and Prince, Princess and Prince-in-law)
2. MMS - the most corrupt PM India ever saw
3. PC
4. Pranab-daa
and Ahmed Patel, Jagan, YSR, S M Krishna and there is a looooooong list.

The "Change of Chavan" is a sick joke --- one corrupt Chavan is replaced with another corrupt Chavan. Corrupt Kalamdi was allowed to continue till there was nothing more to rob from CWG. The expulsions sound like giving vacation to those who have worked 20 hours a day to collect bribes, and giving them time to enjoy and invest their bribe money. And meanwhile giving chance to some lesser fed wolves to feed. For that matter, BJP can also remove a few corrupt peons and Panchayat Members to make a show.

I think NK success in Bihar is based on the three S's
1. Suraksha (reduction in fear from standard goonda gardi in Bihar)
2. Shikshan (focused towards the fairer sex)
3. Sadak (improving connectivity and impacting economy)

All this was very sudden - Rosiah gave no warning that he wanted to quit. Could this be related to Jagan broadcasting the anti-Sonia film on Sakshi?

This Kiran was apparently chosen as speaker by YSR, so he may be close to Jagan too.

Jagan must be having lots of dirt on Sonia, as YSR was a major contributor to the Congress kitty. Also, Andhra was apparently a big center for EVM rigging, and Jagan must be having damaging information about that.

So this could be some kind of truce between Jagan and Sonia.

This is not sudden. See Telangana thread and almost two weeks ago I wrote this fellow's name. Kiran is part of YSR gang (which INC AP fellow is not anyway?). However, he wanted forest ministry but went to someone else who is extremely close to Jagan. YSR gave him Speaker.

It is extremely difficult why INC's choice is this fellow as there is very little info about him. The theory is he is one of the YSR person for Rayalaseema and hence not a lot of oppostion will be there and they can swiftly remove Jagan. As a backup they have Chiru anyway. Per the grapevine there will be two Dy.CMs and one of them will be Chiru and anotehr is Geeta Reddy.

In the midst of electoral defeats and multi-lakh crore scams, the Corruption (I) party is celebrating its 125th anniversary, with sycophancy:

India Today
There's no end to Congress sycophancy. Nothing could illustrate it more than the two posters put up on the streets of Allahabad wherein Congress president Sonia Gandhi is called "Mother India" and Rahul Gandhi shown as Lord Krishna. The Opposition parties on Wednesday raised a pitch against these posters, a day before Sonia's rally in the Uttar Pradesh city as part of the party's ongoing 125th year celebrations.

pro-BJP people are celebrating Nitish-BJP victory in Bihar. Well, little do they know that this victory has weakened future of BJP/Modi. How? Anti-Modi all over India are already projecting Nitish as future non-Cong PM of India, something that was sole monopoly of Modi till day before yesterday. Modi-magic was spawning many parts of India such as UP and now mediamen may dilute it with alternative Nitish-magic. Nitish's victory is also bad news for Hinduvadies, because Nitish has supported that Christian SCs should be given reservation in SC quota, something that Sardar Patel quashed in later 1940s and EJs have been demanding ever since. So wake up and smell coffee. Check Nitish inside out before going gaa-gaa over him.

^^ You may be right. But I think different people have different reason to be happy. I am happy because Congress got humiliation of the life time. I wish if entire India can get rid of dynasty rule. If congress can get rid of dynasty culture then for many people both Congress and BJP will look same.

As far as BJP is concerned they look incompetent to me, considering the congress has been presenting them opportunity after opportunity. But there is a big If that is EVM.

^^ Anti-modis are in minority.

It is a great thing that once again people from humble background namely modi and nitish are projected as PM quality stateman/politician. Bharat desh will only grow and prosper with self-respect and pride under a common man as PM (and never under dynastic, chamcha supported PM)

People of Bharat fondly remembers PM and other great personalities coming from humble, non-dynastic/aristocratic background - viz., Sardar Patel, Lal Bahadu Shastri, Gulzarilal Nanda, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Ram Manohar Lohia & J P Narayan (Nitish's Gurus), Morarji Desai, PV Narsimha Rao, Chandrasekhar of Bondsi, AV Vajpeyee etc. These people have shown their mettle especially in adverse conditions and won hearts of people.

(Rajiv Gandhi is perhaps and exception) Dynasty guys are only liked by chamchas for personal interest.

Now BJP having better numbers Nitish/JD will act more responsible and will refrain from doing something in haste.

Morarji Desai?? He may have come from humble origins. But what sort of charismatic leader was he? At least from what I have read about him, the striking parts were i) He playing dirty tricks so much so that Indian spies in Kahuta got exposed ii)using every trick in the book to target Indira Gandhi repeatedly, when he was in power (for what ever short while).

Both BJP and JDU have very little chance to grow further in Bihar. For BJP, the next step will have to be a breakup with JDU so it can grow further (just like Congress). Nitish could be PM if JDU merges with BJP, but most likely some weak BJP leader will be PM. NDA is different from UPA in that state CMs are powerful and have their own identity, so its difficult to see them wanting a strong central PM.

The people who like Modi like him for the fact that he stood up for Hindus. This is a country in which 400,000 people of the majority community have been ethnic cleansed from their homes, yet the media wants to talk about 1500 muslims in Gujarat, who BTW have already returned to their homes.

Nobody can take that away from Modi.

OTOH, I am happy that Nitish Kumar is being projected as a potential PM candidate. It is a good sign that some competent people are rising to the top of national conciousness - Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar, Mayawati - these are the people who have risen to the top on sheer hard work, not parents background.

Good observation.

If Modi is not a consensus candidate, I would like to se Nitish or CBN as PM with BJP in the second fiddle. That is a practical way to create an NDA government as most of these partners want to be seen as secular alternative. Such a coalition will be far better than the current setup that we have.

One main reason I am a fan of Modi is that he stood like a leader with strong convictions, without giving up an inch when entire world was running amock against him. Not only inside India, Modi was and is demonised world wide and even US revoked his visa. How many leaders are there now who are capable of standing up like him in such extreme adverse conditions?

This is past. Modi is slowly becoming uber-secular given the pressure of Saud/Christianist lobbies. Modi has near-officially given up KJB and KV temple issue to please Saud/EJ lobbies and did not oppose HCjs decision to give away 33% RJB plot to Wakf. And Modi gave up Swadeshi agenda looong back and so hard core Swadeshi in RSS are not not pro-Modi at all. All in all, Modi is ex-RSS now Congressi with RSS image to fool RSSians, and nothing more. I always support every citizen of India who stands by any leader, as finally citizen of India are kings of India in my world view. So I truly appreciate your support for NaMo, though I am anti-NaMo. But please note as now, citizens of India dont matter, only Saud/Christianist/MNCs matter.

Can BJP be forced to support Nitish as PM?

Chances that no party will get more than 180 MPs in 2019 are bright. In such case, a minor player can force major player to accept minor player's leader as PM by threatening to side with another major player. (eg Koda became CM).

Let me elaborate. Consider 1998 scenario repeats in 2014, with small change.

Say

1. BJP has 180 MPs
2. Congress has 150 MPs
3. Nitish has 30 MPs
4. CPM (Left) has 30 MPs
5. Rest have 540 - 180 - 150 - 30 - 30 = 540 - 290 = 250 MPs.

Then Saud\Christianist\MNCs can convince some 100 others MPs to say - make Nitish PM or else we will support Congress. To stop Modi, Saud\Christianist\MNCs can also bribe out CPM MPs to say that "if you make Nitish as PM, and not NaMo, we will stay neutral". Now do BJP MPs have stomach to sit in opposition and give away bribes that they can get in Ministries? NO. Besides, NaMo has more enemies in BJP than outside. So BJP MPs will go for "better have some Ministries than none", and may accept Nitish as PM.Then one issue is : will citizens of India accept Nitish as PM. You already see paid mediamen working overtime to project Nitish as ABV2. By 2014, mediamen would have projected "Nitish is ABV2, Nitish is most acceptable PM across all communities, Nitish is more acceptable than NaMo" blah blah blah.

All in all, as far as PMship of 2014 goes, Nitish's victory has done more damage to NaMo\BJP than benefit

OMG. Do you know that Nitish has openly supported that SC Christians and Muslims should be included in SC resevation? What is with you? Reading too much of Stinker Gupta's pro-Nitish paid-news? And thinking that they are all unpaid news? Please focus on real enemies of India --- Christianists, Saud, MNCs. IMO, us commons and us Nationalists should ONLY focus on ways and means by which we win and enemies lose. If Nitish comes, they still win. If NaMo has to become secular to defeat Nitish, the real enemies still win. There is nothing for us.

Btw, if ever BJP MPs ever accept Nitish as PM, please do URL them that you first read it on BR on this thread.

Chances that no party will get more than 180 MPs in 2019 are bright. In such case, a minor player can force major player to accept minor player's leader as PM by threatening to side with another major player. (eg Koda became CM).
Tail wagging the dog is an unstable situation. Central governments headed by smaller parties without a national base haven't been successful at all. Challenge for Modi is to grow BJP and show he has national impact, else someone like Shourie who has greater impact would get it.

 Jagan again: His channel now attacks Rahul, CM http://www.indianexpress.com/news/jagan ... hi/716143/

Far from being cowed by the selection of a new CM, rebellious MP Jaganmohan Reddy took another swipe at the Congress leadership Thursday.

A few days after his Sakshi TV channel had attacked Sonia and the PM, it posed 10 questions to CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy, and poked fun at Rahul Gandhi for the Congress’s poor show in Bihar.

“A charismatic leader is missing. In its 125-year history, the Congress has never reached a nadir like now,” the channel said during a current affairs programme.

This guy should be the next CM of AP

I agree that NaMo has to improve his anti Muslim image (especially because he is not responsible for many of the things he was accused of). But I disagree that he is going over to the KSA/EJ lobby. If that were true these people would have become soft on him.

Shri Morarjibhai Desai was a Freedom Fighter
Collector (ICS)
A Chief Minister
staunch Gandhian,
pro-business, and in favour of free enterprise reforms, as opposed to Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's socialistic policies
His government undid many amendments made to the constitution during emergency and made it difficult for any future government to impose national emergency
He targeted IG 'coz IG targetted him and other innocent people during emergency.

He was indeed remembered for bringing inflation down.

Social Service
Morarji Desai was a true Gandhian follower, social worker, institution builder and a great reformer. He was the Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith (university established by Mahatma Gandhi). Even during his term as the Prime Minister he used to visit and stay at Vidyapith during the month of October. He exemplified simplicity and used to write post cards himself even when he held the office of Prime Minister.

Sardar Patel deputed him to conduct meetings of farmers in Kaira district which finally led to the establishment of the AMUL Cooperative movement. During his rule, he withdrew intervention in Public Distribution System and rationing shops were literally lost due to cheap sugar and oil available in the market.

He abolished Rs. 1000 currency to destroy black money in india. Do we have such a brave example in our post independence history?

Wiki:
Morarji Desai had described the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), India's external intelligence agency, as the praetorian guard of Indira Gandhi and had promised to stop all activities of the R&AW after becoming prime minister. He closed down much of the agency, and reduced its budget and operations. B. Raman, the former head of the Counter-Terrorism Division of R&AW and noted security analyst, reveals that, in an unguarded moment, Morarji Desai indiscreetly told Pakistani President Zia ul-Haq that he was aware of Islamabad's nuclear schemes.[1]

KSA lobby does not do with internal politics but other subjects.
such countries cannot be allowed to play internal

It is the informal Pak network with some indian groups which have a lobby to break every std Indian norm and break nationalism. This is mainly driven from the west with a strong social engineering output

During the Emergency RAW was used to harass opposition leaders and their families abroad. M Desai's problem with RAW was its use as a tool to harass the Opposition. And no RAW officer ever resigned or objected to this misuse. Again as I said earlier the reason is the police origins of Indian intelligence agencies. The officers did not see any thing wrong in functioning as IB's external branch.

pro-BJP people are celebrating Nitish-BJP victory in Bihar.
Nitish will join BJP soon

Congress in Rajasthan passed controversial ordinance on Mayors

Ashok Gehlot government's recent move is seen by the critics as an attempt to ensure that the BJP boards in Jaipur and Ajmer do not pass a no-confidence motion against the Congress mayors. With the mayors now being elected directly, the Congress candidates for mayoral polls in Jaipur and Ajmer won while the boards were formed by the BJP. The problem is not severe in Bikaner and Kota where the boards are also formed by Congress and the mayor elected also belongs to the same party.

"The very fact that the ordinance has been passed only for mayors and chairpersons and not all the members, is itself discriminatory. According to the constitution, a board and the chairperson are coextensive. The ordinance is hit by Article 14 and Article 243 (P) of the Indian Constitution but the state government of Rajasthan seems to have little regard for the Constitution itself,'' says Prakash Shukla, a senior lawyer of the Rajasthan High Court. "When a no-confidence motion can be passed against chief minister and even the Prime Minister, why not the mayors and chairpersons?'' says Shukla.
