http://www.chowrangi.com/wikileaks-say- ... ident.htmlAccording to the recent WikiLeaks data, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari want his sister to succeed him.
I once heard that all that Zardari eats is first tested by his sister Faryal Talpur (apparently she either herself eats or makes others eat part of his meals before he is served). I can think of ten good Pakistan Peoples’ Party members (both men and women) who would have made excellent party chiefs. Raza Rabbani, Aitzaz Ahsan and Makhdoom Amin Fahim have good leadership qualities and Mrs. Sherry Rahman (the only minister in the party to have resigned on grounds of principle) should have been among those considered for selection.

Rather let him, son, grandson and his entire near and dear family come to India, unfortunately get caught with a local mob and have his eyes gouged out as punishment for what was done to Indian soldiers in Kargil.

Ignore TSPA's human rights violations: ex US Ambassador to State Deptt
The U.S. government was advised to keep reports of human rights violations by the Pakistani army under wraps by its then envoy to the country Anne Patterson, who also suggested that the focus should be on assistance to Islamabad which was a close ally on the war against terrorism.
“A growing body of evidence is lending credence to allegations of human rights abuses by Pakistan security forces during domestic operations against terrorists in Malakand Division and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas,” said the cable, much before reports of such abuses appeared on YouTube and other websites.
The cable dated Sept. 7, 2009 and labelled as Secret/Nonforn (Non—foreign) was part of over 2,50,000 secret U.S. documents which WikiLeaks claims to have in its possession.
“While it is oftentimes difficult to attribute with accuracy any responsibility for such abuses, reporting from a variety of sources suggests that Frontier Corps and regular Pakistan Army units involved in direct combat with terrorists....,” the U.S. cable said.
“The crux of the problem appears to centre on the treatment of terrorists detained in battlefield operations and focused on the extra-judicial killing of some detainees.
The detainees involved were in the custody of Frontier Corps or Pakistan Army units,” it said.

http://www.ptinews.com/news/1162490_A-Q ... functions-Disgraced nuclear scientist A Q Khan has been allowed by Pakistani authorities to attend public functions after being kept in "protective custody" for the past six years following his acknowledgment that he ran a clandestine proliferation network.
Khan attended the convocation of a private university yesterday and was seen sitting on the dais alongside Education Minister Aseff Ahmed Ali.
Restrictions on Khan's movements were lifted by the Lahore High Court recently.
In recent weeks, he has been seen shopping in Kohsar Market.
However, he continues to be shadowed by security personnel who also maintain a watch on his residence in the heart of Islamabad.
"The court allowed me to move freely but due to old age and bad health, I spend most of the time at home," Khan told the media during yesterday's convocation.

The unsinkable sub,the Paki Agosta!

The submarine affair
French President Nicolas Sarkozy lashed out when asked about alleged 1995 Pakistani arms kickbacks. PHOTO: REUTERS
The issue of kickbacks involved in the grant of a contract on Agosta submarines by France to Pakistan in the late 1990s refuses to die. Indeed, there seems to be a growing sensational dimension to the story which involves the death of 11 French naval engineers and three others in a suicide bombing in Karachi in 2002. The attack, blamed at the time on extremist elements, marked one of the first suicide attacks of this kind in the country and was widely believed to represent an assault against westerners.
Investigations in France, that suggest this may not quite be the case, lead us along a fascinating, if frighteningly dark, road. Relatives of the victims have demanded French President Nicholas Sarkozy, thought to be a party in the kickback deal, and other former French leaders to testify in the matter. The conjecture goes that, in a mafia-style murder, the Frenchmen died as punishment for failure to pay the kickbacks following a crackdown on corruption by a new government in Paris.
On the home front, some things are obvious. An attack of this nature could take place only with the involvement of the military and the agencies. No one else is capable of enacting it. This is all the more true as it took place during the height of power of a military regime. As we have become accustomed to hearing at every turn, the name of the president has been mentioned. But it is questionable quite what part he could have played in a sophisticatedly designed terrorist operation while in exile and with no known power within the country. The military has for too long been exempt from inquiry in wrongdoing of every kind. It is time our obsession with civilian politicians and with one man in particular, ended and was expanded to those institutions that have so far known immunity during every era. In the case of the Agosta deal in particular, the results could be quite fascinating, We owe it to our country, our citizens and to the Frenchmen who died here to get to the bottom of the matter.

As an side its also a slap for US mushy accolytes.

SM Krishna defends denial of visa to Pervez Musharraf
India today said time was not conducive to grant visa to former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf to visit the country.
I would have preferred a dignified silence. Just ignore this nobody joker. A one line statement that we do not comment on individual visa cases would have done the job.The government, according to the sources, also did not want convergence of elements opposed to the present government in Pakistan on Indian soil for their activities.

BrahMos hits target, message for Pakistan
BALASORE: For the first time ever, India on Thursday successfully flight-tested a cruise missile incorporating high manoeuvres at multiple points and steep dive from high altitude. The Block-III version of the BrahMos was testfired from the integrated test range (ITR) off Orissa coast at 10.55 am.
Defence sources said the launch was executed from a mobile autonomous launcher (MAL) by trained Army personnel at Chandipur-on-sea, about 15 km from here. DRDO scientists, who have significantly contributed for the development of this advanced guidance system, were thrilled to see the supersonic manoeuvres of the missile in real-time display, proving their immense effort. The missile flew in the designated complex trajectory, including high manoeuvres and steep dive.
“All telemetry and tracking stations, including naval ships near terminal point, have confirmed the mission success. The missile hit the desired target meeting all mission parameters. It was a fantastic launch,” said ITR director SP Dash in a statement.
Chief controller (research and development) of DRDO and chief executive officer and managing director of Brahmos Aerospace, A S Pillai, described it a ‘textbook launch’.
“With this success, BrahMos has become the only supersonic cruise missile possessing this advanced capability in the world providing an edge to the user with precise hit. This will provide an enhanced capability to the user for selection of a particular land target amongst a group,” said a scientist

From Dawn (posting in full) : Cyprus arrests two Pakistanis over alleged Islamist links
Cyprus police said they arrested two Pakistani men on suspicion of links to Islamist groups.—File photo
NICOSIA: Cyprus police said Friday they arrested two Pakistani men on suspicion of links to Islamist groups, after being tipped off by foreign intelligence agencies.
“We arrested two people after receiving information concerning illegal activity linked to Islamic fundamentalism and extremist activity,” police spokesman Michalis Katsounotos told AFP.
The men were about 40 years old, he said without providing any other details about the information that led to their arrest.
Reports said police arrested the pair in the capital Nicosia on Wednesday during a swoop on in which they netted two laptops, several CDs and written text.
The daily Phileleftheros said the Cypriot authorities had been alerted four months ago about the suspects’ links to Islamic extremism related to terror activities.
They were suspected of trying to form a terror cell on the Mediterranean island, and had been under surveillance up until they were arrested.
Police said deportation orders against the two for overstaying their visas were suspended while evidence was being examined to see if they have committed any criminal offence.

Blasphemy case shakes the nation
M Ass Nai zi
The controversy caused by various aspects of the case has led to its being quoted by the Sunni Ittehad Council in its Rawalpindi-Lahore Long March, as well as to the restraint placed on the President by the Lahore High Court against Aasia Bibi’s release
The latter order might provide one clue as to the reason for the prominence of the case, the element of extension of the extraterritoriality already apparently granted to the US citizens in Pakistan to non-Muslim Pakistanis, particularly Christians. Those fearing Aasia Bibi being taken abroad are relying on past precedents, where blasphemy convicts, usually Christian, have been given refuge abroad. In this case, the government would play a role by the President giving Aasia a pardon, so that at least she would no longer be wanted by the local authorities when she is spirited abroad.
Aasia Bibi is being portrayed as an innocent, though there has been a conviction made by a court, and it is being presented not merely as a wrongful conviction, but also as the existence of a wrongful law. It is a firmly held belief in certain circles that the blasphemy law, among others, is subject to misuse against minorities. Minorities are otherwise oppressed, and so if they were to be subjected to persecution, then that would be an argument for the abolition of the entire Penal Code. After all, false cattle theft charges have been made against industrialists, so neither religion nor strength has been a guarantee against the state, or rather against those who control its levers.
There was no discrimination in favour of Muslims, and they could only look for a two-year sentence, if the Prophet (PBUH) was blasphemed against. That was an offence that carried the death sentence, and it was executed first in the time of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) himself, and that too more than once. Muslims ruled over large numbers of non-Muslims for centuries, with the Indian subcontinent being only one among several examples, but only in Spain did Muslims face a systematic attempt at blasphemy, as Christians there once sought martyrdom by blaspheming. The problem was only solved by executing the offenders and replacing the bishop at the root of the problem. Even Hindus, with their idol-worshipping ways, never tried this way of combating the Muslims, with whom they were engaged in almost constant struggle from the arrival of the British. There was one attempt to blaspheme against the Prophet (PBUH), but it ended with Ghazi Ilm Din Shaheed killing the blasphemer. Though Ghazi Ilm Din played a role in the creation of Pakistan, it remained ruled under the laws of the Raj.

Pakistani Munnis and other raunchy songs
The song has become a huge problem for another Munni, who runs a small store in Lahore. “Every now and then someone will come to my store and say ‘Munni badnaam hui darling teray liay’ in front of my customers. First I didn’t pay much attention and tried to ignore it, but then it became a routine event and I started to get irritated. Even sober and reserved people have sung this song loudly while passing by my store." Sober and reserved people watch Indian movies and dance to Indian songs.
Shahida Munni, the principal of a school in Lahore had been given the nickname Munni by her family and friends and is also facing problems. “While walking in my neighbourhood, I am always scared that someone will start to sing the song (Munni Badnaam Hui)."
However, this is not the first song which has caused issues. Songs like “Billo de Ghar”, “Nach Punjaban”, “Parveen Tu Bari Namkeen” and “Saali” have raised controversy in Pakistan and singer Abrarul Haq was even told by the Supreme Court to change the lyrics of his song in which he used the name Parveen. This song and his debut single “Billo De Ghar” caused controversy as Parveen is a common female name, while Billo is a common female nickname in Pakistan and several women complained that they were teased and even harassed after the release of these songs. Without these raunchy Pakistani songs these women would walk free and proud without male harassment.

Actually, they can make such a claim. In fact, Mohammad himself ordered the assassination of a female critic of his. His followers slit her throat at night as she was breast-feeding her child. As it is well known that Mohammad was a peaceful prophet, therefore it must follow that his actions are peaceful and just. By analogy, a moslem cleric calling for the assassination of a critic of islam (she is guilty of blasphemy, is she not?), is nothing but peaceful. As is islam a religion of peace.

Vivek Katju. Vivek Katju Zindabad
NEW DELHI: Nine years after the Agra Indo-Pak summit, former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf, apparently peeved over India's decision not to grant him a visa, has blamed an Indian foreign ministry official for what proved to be an unmitigated disaster in relations between the two countries. Secretary (west) Vivek Katju, a 1974 batch IFS officer who was then handling the Pakistan division, has been blamed by Musharraf for sabotaging the talks.
Musharraf said in an interview to News 24 channel that things were progressing fine during the summit meeting with then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee till Katju intervened.
"There was someone from the foreign ministry sitting there named Katju. He may still be there, he created a lot of hurdles," said the former Pakistani army chief, adding that both he and Vajpayee wanted the meet to succeed and tried hard to work out a joint statement but these efforts were scuttled.
"I told Vajpayee saheb before leaving Agra, today you and I have been both humiliated because there is someone above us, sitting above us who can veto what we decide," he said while talking about Agra but this time preferred not to name the person.
In 2002, Katju was appointed India's envoy to Afghanistan. He was among Indian officials who negotiated
with terrorists in the Kandahar hijacking case. There was no immediate reaction from the MEA on Musharraf's assertion.
Musharraf, who wanted to visit India to attend a seminar this weekend, was not given a visa with official sources saying the decision was taken after the home ministry expressed reservations over his visit due to his recent anti-India statements.
