The one above would put even the most evil looking alien AC in western flicks/cartoons to shame.

MiG 23 Serial No.
See I have a MiG 23 in my college. The engine has been kept at the aerospace lab while the body has been kept at display near the hostels.
The Board near the aircraft says that its a MiG 23 BN, which one can easily know when you see the laser rangefinder near the nose.
Now the Serial No written on the vertical stabilizer is SM 36. Now this sounds a little fishy.
I believe the no's started from SM 200; please correct me if I'm wrong. On a closer inspection I could see a faint figure, maybe 7 before the 36, which also seems less probable. Any words? Also there is a 258 written on the nose wheel door. I wish the guru's would enlighten me about its significance.
extremely sorry about the big resolutions of the image. Newbie here

regarding that MiG-23BN in your college
usually the numbers painted on the undercarraige doors should match the one on the tail. SM+258 would be my guess.
try and peak inside the nose undercarraige wheel well, the numbers may be painted in there. at the very least there would be some dataplates that you may find helpful (Try and note down the Construction number if possible)
Where is this aircraft located?

Re: Aircraft Recognition
Currently, the only passenger aircraft currently in production with seating from 20-50 seats are the ATR 42 (40-50 seats) and the Twin Otter DHC-6 (20 seats) (production recently restarted by Viking Air).Shankas wrote:Folks, need a little help
