Strategically Engages in "Enlightened Husbandization"

Islamis~~bad~~good, January 28 (NSN): In what is yet another milestone of the Pakistani peoples' perpetual progress towards perfection, Presidentissimo Pervez "Pasturphile" Musharraf wed a goat this previous day, demonstrating that in today's Modern Pakistan there is no discrimination whatsoever against any of its minorities: religious, ethnic, gender, and now, zoological.

In what was dubbed "the Wedding of the Pakmillenium" Musharraf exchanged vows with the goat, named Bakrieen, in a glitzy gala attended by Pakistan's Bold and Beautiful at a posh Clifton beach stable.

The affair co-incided with Musharraf's kickoff of his reform of the Ministry of Animal Husbandry into a more "Pakislamic Institution." Under this new reformation, Pakistanis will be free to marry goats of their choice, a move hugely celebrated in that country.

Musharraf told in an exclusive interview with this reporter that he had gotten the idea from a vivid dream he had following the massive international media attention given to Pakistan's Animal Husbandry ministry:. Emergency Council Debate Lively

"There was bitter give-and-take in the council deliberations," Senior Chairman, Pakistan Institute of Strategic Studies, Mme. Shireen Mazari, Chief Pakistani Political Analyst to the Starts, reports. "He argued with himself and his alter-egos 'Admiral Attapak' and 'Shaheed Susie' loudly and constantly, using high-pitched falsetto voices and sometimes rather uncouth language."

The room had to be cleared twice when fisticuffs broke out amongst the delegates.

After thirteen hours of hard debating, a bruised Musharraf emerged, general's uniform rumpled and tie askew, to address the public who had been awaiting the news with baited breath and triumphantly declared the law to be in effect. Deafening cheers emitted from the assembled journalists, echoed in every Pakistani street, slum and village.

"The 'Enlightened Husbandization' law required deft legal maneuvering," Mme. Mazari explained, "It had its fair share of run-ins with problems." The most major of them -- fitting the new Law with the existing civil code -- was solved in such an unbelievably brilliant manner by Musharraf that wide-eyed Pakistani lawyers generations hence will be humbled silent by its mere legalistic being.

The law required redefining husbanding goats as 'men', men as 'voluptuous women', and women as 'dirt.'

"The Law now much better reflects Pakistan's Progressive Society," Mme. Mazari.

When asked by this reporter about the definer 'voluptuous', Mme. Mazari stated frankly that "this, Musharraf is, and that, every Pakistani male must strive toward being." She then noisily masticated an ill-fated Jalebi.

Nationwide Bride Search

Musharraf was regaled with the honor of being the first to take advantage of the new reform law.

He initially decided to marry his childhood sweetheart, but an exhaustive search revealed that the he-goat had long already been sacrificed.

Dejected, Musharraf held a nation-wide bride selection competition where goats from all over Pakistan competed for the most sought-after Pakistani courtship ever. Only the tallest and the fairest advanced to the next round.

After a grueling forty-bracket finals, a stunningly beautiful goat with strapping thighs emerged the winner, and the marriage ceremonies thence took place in the biggest, most televised and most viewed national ceremony since the Quaid founded this great land.

Banks, schools and barracks were given holidays as Pakistani males took to the streets in spontaneous celebrations of the news and mass consummations were indulged in, with some injuries from ungulatory kicking reported.

Swanky Wedding

The wedding ceremonies were attended by some five-thousand of the richest, most Anglophonic of the country's elites, screened by formidable diction tests held outside of the door, where potential visitees were required to define terminology such as "raisin deiter" and "shashter" before being allowed to enter the premisis.

The examinations were conducted peacefully, but for a single semi-violent episode when Karachi socialite, top-level defense analyst and well-known debutante Begum Niloufer Mahdi's thesaurus was discovered and confiscated.

The wedding ceremony itself was almost fairytale-like in its grandeur and good humor prevailed amongst all the guests. However, a potentially embarrassing incident was only narrowly avoided when the guests prevailed upon Pakistan cricket superstar Shoib Akhtar to leave after he was caught slipping Rohypnol in Mother-goat's trough. Guests were keen to note that a revelation that Shoib "robbed from the grave" would potentially be an explosive blow against National Honor and Dignity. Shoib was then redirected to a nearby field where younger, more age-appropriate goats were seen frolicking earlier.

Due to the recent ban on wedding feasts, guests partook in a seven-course meal of hay liberated from the nearby barn. Hardliners Protest

The new reforms did elicit disapproval from some segments of society, however.

Hardline parties and Jehadi groups took to the streets in what they deemed the "selling out" of Musharraf to un-Islamic, pro-goat Western machinations.

"What sort of country is this where a man can wed a goat but where a man cannot fulfill his love for say, a camel... or a donkey!" exclaimed one furious MMA leader to a crowd of some twelve thousand men and livestock who had gathered for the occasion. "Not a Pakistani country, I tell you!" to the deafening cries of agreement.

There were also widespread reports of symbolic marriages between tribespeople and peaches in particular. Much consternation was made about the exclusion from the law of this "forbidden fruit."

But even the law's most vocal critics admit that some good came of the reform, as now goat-loving is now no longer an extra-marital, and thus sinful, affair.

Truckloads of Pak onions to the rescue of Indian curry

AMRITSAR: Delhi and other northern states are getting help from Pakistan to bring the zing back to their curries with about 350 tonnes of onions landing at Attari border on Tuesday. Pakistani onions are priced at Rs 19 per kg but there is no predicting their retail prices.

On Monday evening, 14 trucks carrying at least 140 tonnes of the pungent tuber from Pakistan crossed over to India. Though the landed cost of onions, after paying import and customs duty, comes to Rs 20/kg, the benefit is yet to be pass on to customers even in Amritsar a few kilometers from the border.

Deputy commissioner land custom station Attari, RK Duggal told TOI that at least 35 more truckloads of onions crossed over on Tuesday.

Managing director of Narayan Exim Rajdeep Uppal said with the import of onions from Pakistan, the panic in the market would subside and by Wednesday imported onions would hit retail outlets. He said Pakistani onions would feed Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.

But sources in the industry said the benefit could be marginal. If it was being sold for Rs 55/kg it could come down by Rs 5/kg and the benefit would be kept by wholesale traders or retailers, said sources.

However, the onion crisis has brought cheer to about 1,500 porters at Attari border. A porter union leader Balkar Singh said for past two days there was heavy demand of porters due to extra import of vegetables from Pakistan.
