Shouldnt the NIA get the pictures from UK for atleast one of the suspects? That Anwar Mullick could be key suspect. The Mistry guy looks like a patsy. they cant let him go until they have the real suspects in custody and it allows Doggy Singh his sound bites.

What do we know from internet on Anwar Mullick?

Fear of sounding communal would have stopped release of names selectively- or even fear of sounding communal is selective only since it has been told that no one should point fingers only except selective name droppings as also no one objecting to selective name dropping. If anyone objects to selective name dropping he could be called communal no except those who point fingers in general direction ie Diggiraajaah talking about BJP.

Again pure speculation based on past events and current political climate

Digvijay Ko Gussa Kyon Ayya

1] Ravi Shankar Parsad after the blasts quickly refers to material available in public and points to inputs by Delhi police that Buddha is targeted by Muslim Terrorist group SIMI that want to convert India to an Islamic Sunni state.

2] Digvijay blasts Ravi Shankar by saying look at the coincidence, Modi gives a speech, AMit Shah speak about Ram temple and now blasts in Bihar. Recent interviews that I have seen of this man he has now been on defensive about his remarks. His defence is very weak and he is trying to twist things around to somehow get out of this fiasco.

3] Was Ravi Shankar one step ahead of Digvijay knowing fully well that Congress will again blame hindus/rss/bjp and let the real culprits go? Is that the reason he was quick to take a proactive step? The reason for this is, on NDTV Digvijay said, who is Delhi Commissioner to know that SIMI will do blasts in Pune, how does he have this info? This statement of his clearly shows a little child who's naughtiness was spoiled before he could act. Digvijay forgot that Delhi police gained this info via interrogation of a SIMI terrorist and Delhi Commissioner must have been informed.

Now for some Mistry guy who is being questioned, why? Because his ID card was found on premises. During 9/11 when running for your lives people dropped everything and ran for their lives. Is their a possibility that this man being questioned ran for his life and dropped his ID card?

The Congress's real agenda is coming into foreground now. Destroy all intelligence agencies that are remotely independent, replace them with central controlled agencies, and create a new divide in India, so-called Hindu terror. This assumption is based on a remark made by Digvijay, he demanded to know from Home Minister, did Headley name Ishart, or was he publicly saying, Home Minister get your ministry in order and all those who are not toeing the line, make their lives miserable.

This is a very dangerous game being played in India that not only impacts Hindus, but all communities.

If EVMs are used for up coming elections, Congress will win. I bet $100.

Don't think the cylinders were refilled with gas. It was used like a canister to hold the explosives. I remember reading that these low cost tiny cylinders were bought and the gas removed, before holes were made in it. To fill the explosives and place the detonator etc.

Four suspects including woman released, Rs 10 lakhs reward announced
Bodh Gaya/Patna: With the investigations into the Bodh Gaya serials blasts case probe failing to make much headway, the National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Wednesday announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for anybody providing information regarding the bombers.

Investigators are looking into all possible angles, including any Naxal role, and also the purported claim by banned terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM).

The Bihar Police, meanwhile, released on Wednesday four persons, including one woman, detained on Tuesday in connection with the explosions on Sunday in and around Buddhism's holiest shrine as no evidence was found against them.

No arrests have been made in the case but police detained one more person identified as Dasrath, who belonged to Barachhati village from where Binod Mistri.

Dasrath was picked up on the basis of calls he made to Mistri and as his named figured in the police diary, police sources said. The role of Mistri and Dasrath in the attack, if any, has not been ascertained yet.

Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who visited the bomb blast sites along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Congress leader Ambika Soni, said a "detailed" probe was being carried out by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Asked about any involvement of Naxals in the Gaya blasts, he said, "There are so many complex problems. Infiltration from other countries is there, naxalites are there, local communal disturbances are there. We have to see all angles."

Shinde said the NIA, which has taken over the probe, is looking into all possible angles including the purported claim by IM in a Twitter account about carrying out the blasts and any possible link with the issue of alleged atrocities on the Rohangiya Muslims in Myanmar.

"We are conducting complete investigations. Three-four people may be involved...With a car. We are conducting detailed investigations," he said.

Asked why no arrests have been made in the case, he said, "Arresting anyone in a hurry is not right. Investigations should go into detail and catch hold of the real culprits."

Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj told a news agency in Patna that the four people who were detained were released after no evidence of links with the explosions was found during their questioning. Two monks were injured in the blasts.

The four had themselves volunteered to meet Patna City Superintendent of Police Jaykant after coming to know they had figured in the CCTV footage at the blast site at the temple complex.

During questioning, the four said they had gone to Bodh Gaya to visit the historic Mahabodhi temple, Jaykant said. Besides the Bihar police, they were also questioned by NIA and IB.

Three FIRs were also lodged against unknown people at the Bodh Gaya police station on the basis of statements of security personnel on duty at the temple on the day of the explosions, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gaya, Ganesh Kumar said.

(With PTI inputs)

Good that IB is also in the interrogation process.

As usual with bomb blasts in India under the UPA govt, all leads die out and rewards are announced despite lack of any past success.

Another thing odd is Bihar Police is going after individuals with Hindu names while the NIA is pursuing the Ind Muj suspects.

After the Mistry guy now its another Dashrath.

Only Martians are being neglected.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/indi ... 009688.cms
....Sources, however, acknowledged that the location could not be precisely determined unless Twitter gets back with the information India has sought. "It could be a case of spoofing or using a proxy IP address. We cannot establish the exact IP address until the server provides us a detailed report. The preliminary report, however, suggests that the IP address is in Pakistan. We have sent a request to Twitter for the details," an ATS officer said.

Official sources said the tweets just could be a brag or a prank, but said they were constrained to investigate its origin. The fact that it put out its first tweet barely 16 hours before the terror strike has forced agencies to pursue the US-based social network site for details on the account holder's location.

The account also claims the support of D Company, a reference to the underworld empire of the 1993 Mumbai blasts accused.

The first tweet from the Twitter handle came at 14:02 hours on July 6. On July 7, at 18:32 hours, there was another tweet saying "9 dhamake humne karay" (We carried out the nine blasts).

Although IM has made a "rok sako to rok lo (stop us if you can)" taunt earlier also, sources said there were reasons to doubt the authenticity of this purported IM Twitter handle as "there are spelling mistakes." The introduction spells terrorist as "terriorist". Even the 'Indian Mujahideen' is spelt different as 'Indian Mujahidin' (unlike what IM emails used).

Past e-mails from IM have consistently stressed the Indian roots of the group in order to distract attention from the Lashkar's role. However, this particular account made no secret that it was following Twitter accounts of LeT founder Hafiz Saeed and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan. Four others include Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Also, IM had so far used long emails to justify terror attacks as retaliation against alleged persecution of Indian Muslims and to hold out warnings. The 6 emails sent between 2007 and 2010 quoted from Islamic scriptures and were full of rants against Hindus and their faith. They were also replete with references to the Babri demolition, communal violence in Gujarat and other instances of alleged atrocities on Muslims in Maharashtra and elsewhere.

A home ministry official also pointed out that if the tweets were found to be genuine, this would be the first instance of IM using a public platform to claim responsibility. "Till now, IM has used only emails to claim responsibility for the blasts. These were sent to select media houses," the official said.

Initially, it was felt that the person operating the account used a proxy server that indicated a location in Canada.

"We are trying to gather details relating to identity and IP address used to register the account. Though it could be a fake handle created by an impostor, we have to rule out any genuine link to IM, more so as a tweet ahead of the blasts warns of an impending strike at Mumbai," a senior home ministry official told TOI.

He also warned against reading much into the tweet on Mumbai, as no terror group is known to give a seven-day notice to the agencies and public ahead of a strike.

Could be the ant gloating at the elephant.

Bodhgaya- SIT to join in
An officer with the NIA tells rediff.com that while the funding for the blasts have come in through a channel in Bangladesh, the entire operation was carried out with the help of the local operatives. It was a fast executed operation and the perpetrators of the blast used the locals from Bodhgaya who were familiar with the area. Based on our inputs we would pass on information to the SIT which would only comprise local police and they would be in a better position to nab the local operatives and hand them over to us, the officer also pointed out.

Meanwhile the NIA is having its major share of problems with the probe. Only the larger picture which is mostly based on theory is known to them. However the basics of the probe have gone wrong. The officer said that the entire 15 hours of CCTV footage which the local authorities claim to have is of no use. There is a clear image of what took place in the morning, but the night visuals the time at which the bomb was planted is not at all clear and we cannot make out anything from it. Some of the footage was not even captured since there is no storage capacity in some of the cameras and we had also pointed out that the cameras ought to have been monitored live. There has been no proper check as to who came in and left and the metal detectors too were not operated properly, the NIA officer also pointed out.

So whats new? CCTVs in most blast cases in India have turned to be duds. Either they have blurry images or not working due to lack of maintenence, neglect or sabotage.
How come unlike in Boston where there was atleast one clear image of the perpetrators no image ever gets captured by Indian CCTVs in any incident. Something for NIA to think about and try to fix. Minimum mandate all targets of oportunity to check their CCTV cameras are functioning when an alert is issued and not just their pant belts..

So what happened to good old police work of beat cops? If its locals then the thanas should know who and where.

Funding from Bangladesh means the Anwar Mullick guy is singing.
So whom did he pay and how much?

Meanwhile lax security at the temple

Private Agency had no guards on the night before the attack
Bodh Gaya: The Mahabodhi temple, which was rocked by multiple blasts on Sunday morning, had contracted a private agency for additional security two years ago. The contract was renewed in April. However, the night before the blasts, there was no guard present from the agency at the temple complex.

The temple board and the district authority say the contract is for 24-hour surveillance.

However, the owner of the Cobra Security Agency, says that he was told by the temple board not to deploy his guards during the night. He however has no documentation to support his claim
.

He says his guards were deployed at the temple only from 5 am to 9 pm, when the temple is open to the public.

The district magistrate is inquiring into the matter.

Sources have told NDTV that the presence of Bihar Police, which is responsible for guarding the periphery of the temple, was also negligible a night before the blasts.

The National Investigation Agency, which is probing the blasts, is questioning the security personnel deployed at the temple.

No arrests have been made in the case yet.
So if alert was issued and IM had identified the temple as a target what was the Bihar Police doing even after that? What is the purpose of alerts when they are ignored?

A clear case of wilfull negligence by the entire Bihar govt.

This is all very strange. The report doesn't mention whether it was a frequent thing that the private security agency is supposedly asked NOT to deploy its guard, or whether this was a one-off thing.

If you look at Niranji's post above, which suggests there is generally tight security and placing those bombs would be almost impossible in a "normal situation". This "no guards the night before" instruction sounds like THE angle to be probed further.

Shinde says:
Important clues found in Bodh gaya blasts

Hope there is real progress and not just statements to quiet the anxiety.

...National Investigation Agency (NIA) has found some important clues in the Bodh Gaya blasts, Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said here today.

"I can say that investigation is being done seriously, and probing agency (NIA) has found some important clues in the right and positive direction," Shinde told reporters after laying the foundation stone for CRPF's 'Mahila' battalion base at Bahadurpur Patti-katla in the district.

It was not possible to divulge the clues as it could affect the ongoing probe, Shinde said.

Follow-up to above report:

Hindustan Times. Tortured language but the gist is five Ind Muj members were charge sheeted . What is not clear is if they were chargesheeted for the Bodh gaya blasts or its general chargesheet?

NIA chargsheets five Ind Muj members

Nailing Indian Mujahideen (IM) and its operatives for continuously plotting terror operations in the country, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed its first IM chargesheet in the court laying bare its modest origins in 2003 to present pan-India penetration.

Out of the five terror operatives charged by the NIA, two - Mohammad Danish Ansari alias Waheb (Darbhanga) and Mohammad Aftab Alam alias Farooq (Purnea) are from Bihar, two others - Imran Khan alias Zakaria (Nanded) and Syed Maqbool alias Zubair (Nanded) are from Maharashtra and the fifth is Obaid ur Rehman who is from Hyderabad.

Though, IM top leaders - Iqbal Bhatkal, Riyaz Bhatkal, Yasin Bhatkal, Asadullah Akhtar Haddi, Ariz Khan and Tehseen Akhtar have not been named in the chargesheet but their roles in the growth in the IM have been mentioned in the chargesheet, said sources.

"We are chasing the IM and its top leaders all over the country. Some of them like Iqbal and Riyaz have taken shelter in Pakistan but others like Yasin and Tehseen are still in India and probably planning more terror acts," said an investigator.

"Indian Mujahideen and its operatives are prime suspect in the two recent operations-the Dilsukhnagar blasts of Hyderbad and Bodh Gaya serial blasts. It is suspected that Yasin Bhatkal was one of the planters in Dilsukhnagar," said a source
.

Investigators say it looks that a group of three to four persons planted the improvised explosives devices in Bodh Gaya as the CCTV footage shows one suspect dressed like a monk had a rucksack in which was quite heavy. He at least planted four IEDs. In total 13 IEDs were planted in Bodh Gaya.

"The suspect was moving anti-clockwise in the Buddhist temple, but all monks go clockwise. Many eyewitnesses noticed this peculiar aspect which helped the NIA to get his sketch made,"
said the source.
So sorry that a national paper from the capital cant report on a story with clarity.
Wonder which journalism school the two reporters went to and if the Editor of HT was sleeping on the job?

Darbhanga Police arrests 2 in connection with Bodhgaya blasts
India Today Online New Delhi, August 18, 2013 | UPDATED 09:06 IST

Mohammad Farooq and Shashi Ranjan Sah were arrested by Darbhanga Police in connection with the July 7 serial blasts at the Mahabodhi temple complex.

Their exact role in the blasts is not clear as of now.

A breakthrough still eludes the NIA, investigating the July 7 blasts
in which 10 bombs exploded while three other devices were defused.

Both have been handed over to the NIA.

A special court was established in the Patna civil court to hear the serial bombings case.

The temple is located at the site where the Buddha, born in neighbouring Nepal, is believed to have attained enlightenment under a banyan tree around 2,500 years ago. It was declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2002.

Ranchi investigation cracks open the Bodh Gaya blasts.

Ranchi document helps NIA crack Bodh Gaya blast case

Story has image of an officer handling the bombs.
NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has claimed to have solved the July 7 Bodh Gaya blasts conspiracy with the recovery of a document from Ranchi that details the entire planning, including the placement of each of the 13 bombs and the planters associated with them.

The NIA, which recovered 27 bombs from a lodge in Hindpidih area of Ranchi on Monday, also found a chart in the room that listed the men who allegedly planted 13 bombs in the temple complex of Bodh Gaya
.

The document shows that the blasts were planned by Indian Mujahideen's Tehsin Akhtar and Haidar Ali and included the same planters as in the October 27 Patna blasts.

It also includes the name of Imtiaz Ansari, arrested after one of the Patna bombs exploded at the city railway station.
Ansari had denied any involvement in the Bodh Gaya blasts but had conceded that it had been planned by Tehsin.

The chart's matrix reveals Imtiaz had planted bombs near the Thai Monastery in Bodh Gaya. His accomplice Ainul alias Tarique, who was injured while planting bombs at Patna station and later died, had planted bombs at the Targhar Monastery..

{Poetice justice}

Mujib, who was staying in the hotel room which was raided on Monday, had planted bombs in four places in Bodh Gaya.

A senior officer privy to investigation details said, "This shows that Imtiaz is still hiding several things about IM's activities. With the recovery of these documents, the Bodh Gaya puzzle has been solved. We are now in the process of evidence collection and looking for the absconding accused. We will further interrogate Ansari."

BTW the same story has a set of links where Yasin Bhatkal denies having planted any bombs in Bodh Gaya.

Now looks like the Tehsin Akhtar is the new Yasin Bhatkal of IM.

Do the facts in this story gell with the news reports in this thread?
