It is an instrument of state policy.
How much less will it cost to counter a Chinese presence?
How much of the Indian grant will be spent in India?
The calculation has to be of cost/benefit not grateful/ungrateful.
a credit of 565 million dollars

A_Gupta ji,

this money will remain in India but it will be to the credit of the jihadis (who are now playing the taqiyia card)

It will be released only to (mostly) Indian companies after due approval by the GoI

Besides, the United States and Maldives have been deepening their security and defense cooperation in recent years, particularly within the context of the Indo-Pacific strategy. This cooperation includes military and security aid, capacity building for the Maldivian National Defence Force, and joint efforts in areas like maritime security and counterterrorism.

The signing of the Framework for US Department of Defense-Maldives Ministry of Defence Defense and Security Relationship in 2020 marked a significant milestone in the US-Maldives defense relationship. This agreement formalized the partnership and focused on key areas such as exercises, logistics, information sharing, and professional military education. Under this agreement, the US provides the Maldives with maritime security equipment to enhance its capacity to monitor its extensive exclusive economic zone (EEZ), which spans nearly 1,000,000 square kilometers.
