If furrin troops are dead, TSP cannot even call it a "training" exercise to save echandee.

Dumb question - if Paki loses P3Cs, it degrades certain surveillance capabilities - would this degradation be essential, e.g., if a US team wants to retrieve, say, Mullah Omar, from the heart of Karachi????

News reports say 2 pure have been captured alive...hope they dont drug them and make them confess to being Hindus sent by RAW because Digvijay Singh would immediately confirm that saying they are from Sangh Parivar and Mani Shankar Aiyar would be interviewed by Burkha Dutt to find out how true that is..

^^^ They will do that anyway. Doesn't matter if any are caught, drugged, tortured, under-lungi tested, or what not. By now that is par for the course and wajib-ul-ignore.

Around 01:14:34:

{before this: Pakistani businessmen hope to cash in on the alliance with China - as China's demographic transition takes place, they hope to get Chinese investment to use Pakistani labor. But! the natural market is India. Will India trade with Pakistan? Not as long as it fears export of terror from Pakistan.}

Paraphrasing Lieven: It may be that India will have to settle for terrorist attacks not happening rather than Pakistan dismantling the terror apparatus. Pakistan is not going to dismantle LeT. With the huge exception of Mumbai, Pakistan has not been sponsoring terror attacks (!) and Mumbai is ambiguous (!!!). I would look to India to see Pakistan restraining the groups in Pakistan rather than going to abolish them. Since the courts won't convict terrorists (even Mukhtaran Mai's rapists) the only thing you can do is what a superintendent of police told me, which is to go and shoot them. If Pakistan starts shooting LeT in the back of the head, you have a problem not just in Punjab but in Bradford, because of the sympathy for the Kashmiri jihad. I hope it will come with increasing trade, but a solution to the Kashmir problem is a long way off. What I hope for is the analog of the European-Soviet d'etente. While NATO was hostile to the USSR till the end, d'entente allowed a huge infrastructure - Russian gas exports to the European Union. I've been involved in a lot of track II with India and Pakistan, and while Kashmir is very intractable, maybe pragmatists on both side can come to agreement on Afghanistan. Sensible people on both sides' security establishments realize they can't get all that they want. And as an Indian general told me, historically, Afghanistan is not necessarily a place you want to get deeply involved in. Baluchistan insurgency can be contained, I think. Pakistan has played British model of divide and rule among the tribals; but now there is a mass of partly educated, partly detribalized youth entering the picture. 40% Pashtuns in Baluchistan, and Quetta being mostly Pashtun is a major drag on Baluch independence.

By the way, it would be ironic if the jihadis entered through the PAF Museum. From what I have heard from those who have visited that museum, it is full of fake stories of TFTA bravery and how TSP AF annihilated the "enemy" in various wars.

[yes, from what I have heard, it never says India, just some mythical "enemy" with whom, for example, they had a war in, say, 1965]

Folks are so strapped for points of tourist interest in Karachi that they actually visit crap like this museum and Jinnah shrine etc.

CNN is always fishy in its paki-pasand behavior. However, it is strange that this news has not yet made it to CNN main website. The lead story is still about some baseball fan who got beaten up.

This is the base where their marine SSG are based out of. Presumably they should have been on hand immediately. It's been more than 7 hours and the miscreants are still at large within the base.

It certainly doesn't speak of their capabilities. I now hear they are waiting for daylight. That doesn't speak well of their equipment availability if they can't find relevant NV equipment in their own main base.

What have they been spending all that US aid on?!

Def and dumb Beeb reporter:

"Eyewitnesses say the militants used rocket propelled grenades to damage and destroy several warplanes. These included the Pakistan navy's premier anti-submarine attack jet - the US made P-3C Orion.

Other reaction:

This is a mutiny not an militant attack: it's beards on beards. Very hairy stuff...:)

BBC: most of the hostages held by attackers inside navy base in #Karachi #Pakistan are #Chinese @Ashley_Bullard #China

Wonder if this has anything to do with the Gwadar naval base offer to the Chinese

First Pakistani military's H&D was blown away by the US raid in Abbotabad, then by the jihadis' attack on a major base.

TSP TV saying that SSG is delaying the attack on the building where hostages are kept because there are "secret" or "sensitive" items in that facility. Could TSPA be stupid enough to keep nukes there? I'm thinking it is probably missiles because that could explain the heavy Chinese presence there. This is also another clear pointer towards an inside job.

This is the main base for pakistani SSGN. It surprising that it has dragged on for so long. Of course they would say they are delaying the attack because of some secret or the other. No one is asking now but when I first read about this, I thought it shouldn't be a long drama, the SSGN is based there after all. Apparently I am wrong. :P

Eventually Pakistanis will also start asking why the SSGN took so long to subdue the miscreants.

I am willing to wager this time however the attack on India will be on military personnel. Only targeting IA/IAF would even have a chance to neutralize H&D loss

It seems that the truth about the TSPA fauj is finally finding a home on def&dumb also.

The high-queen of D&D claimed it was most likely an inside job.

The high-priest of D&D wonders if the sensitive assets are nukes which is preventing the SSGN from acting.

CNN website is absolutely dark about this issue, as if the SD has sent in a gag order. This is very weird.

Interestingly this attack shows how saboteurs can do things to important military installations and how security has to be really tight.

But no security can stop an inside job. I think Ass-phuck Kiyani scored a self goal as soon as he descended to the toilet throne of Pakistan by announcing "We are India centric". Every man and his uncle - especially unkil himself understood that Pakis would keep their eyes wide shut to an attack that did not come from India.

Having watched innocent Indian soldiers and civilians die for two decades from Paki inspired terrorism I am extremely happy top see pious people of the Iman Taqwa jihad ul fisabulla armed forces of Pakistan and their pious birathers slaughtering each other and falling over one another to help the next Paki to claim is 72 houris.

Cheers to that.

There are Americans inside. USG does not want Americans to see more body bags from Pakistan. Definitely not on a weekend. Let American public have a victory feeling till it lasts.
