What's the point in negotiating an FTA with the US when they have demonstrated that they can't be trusted in the GE engines for LCA case ?
The starting point for FTA talks should be accelerated delivery of engines to catch up with initial delivery schedule.
Before you say they are not the same thing etc.
Remember that this is Trump world. Everything can be used in negotiations, related or not.
Cyrano ji,
Not to mention the fact that the trump window is not all that large and the non trump future is fraught with uncertainty because who follows him is as yet uncertain.
But look carefully, because the very things that the other presidents failed to do/did not do is being done by trump.
Many of these things are deep state objectives, so in all likelihood, some sort of a deal may have been struck
India will not figure meaningfully in any such emerging situation.
Like the old jungle saying: if you are not at the table, you are on the menu
And trump is not yet done with India. He will try and squeeze out a lot more before he settles permanently at mar a lago.
His minions are increasingly becoming very vocal about what they want from India and that ask is rapidly growing, which means that deep-rooted and entrenched lobbies are pressuring him hard to get them very major concessions from India because Modi ji sees trump as a "friend", things that India simply cannot agree to.
They are floating trial balloons to see which agendas can be pushed and what items are red lined.
Modi ji is no one's stooge but in their transactional gora culture, everyone has to have a price or their system collapses or they initiate arab spring type (student led street protests) regime change to change the players (which they already tried (fake farmer led street protests) and failed in India but succeeded in beediland using student led street protests where united nations officials was directly involved in this regime change effort by threatening the beedi army jernails and stopping the beedi army from intervening in the process to quell the lawlessness, and hence the deep state changed the rules of the game
The proof will be posted soon. I have to get back to work.
here is the proof
How the United Nations played a crucial role in ensuring the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina as Prime Minister of Bangladesh
In a candid interview with the BBC, Volker Türk admitted that the UN actively discouraged the Bangladesh Armed Forces from taking action against anti-government protestors
