A great YT which educates on basics of formation of company with products. These companies are the future of India and we need to encourage them to the hilt. Screwdrivergiri is not the way forward. If the Indian Army were really interested in Atmanirbharata, then they would co-opt such companies to create the next INSAS version II and beyond and simultaneously ditch chasing SigSauer and Russian maal. Too much entrenched thinking by Armed forces and of course money exchange behind the scene.

SSS can meanwhile work on honing their products and creating a client base both internal and external. Brahman Speed to them.

Kudos to the BSF for inducting the new GPMG. They may replace the older stock of MMGs. These can be mounted on vehicles and could also replace older LMGs in infantry formations. They can have red dots and thermals—lots can be done with them. May they train hard with it.

New machine gun in town: GPMG by Lokesh Machines. A better alternative to replace the MMG currently in service. The barrel is heavier for sustained fire and longer than LMGs, giving a range of 1200 metres.

Same arrangement for the NSV issued to infantry would be great.

Mostly the Israeli's pushed the already manufactured parts in bulk. Assuming it's an assembly factory. But our Indian media as usual goes and start to write propaganda piece unknowingly. Even calling it Made in India. Also the Army and the Govt must stop giving it Indian names. Atleast in BR we must call any imported designs by it's original name. Negev NG-7 it is.

7.62 by 51 mm for counter insurgency/terrorism? Don't our guys prefer the AK caliber for that?

Here’s our sales pitch - Get ready for the smoothest ride in it’s class
The SSS Defence T72 - India’s very own battle rifle chambered for the 7.62x51 NATO round and based on a short stroke piston system. This thing cycles cleaner, runs cooler, and hits harder with the lowest recoil in its caliber among “anything” available in India today. Now, that is a factual statement
We went to the moon on a budget. Turns out we build rifles the same way - precise, efficient, and without unnecessary drama.

^ Drums look cool and offer more capacity than standard magazines but the standard mags are more reliable, faster to reload and easier to carry (an important consideration).

In the US some companies have offered the AR15/M4 type gun with modified uppers for dual feed - belt feed from the top, magazine (standard or drum) from under. A fairly recent example the MCR (Mission configurable rifle). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpR-6c26zdo

But for sustained fire a purpose built (belt fed, interchangeable barrel) LMG/GPMG remains the preferred choice.

^^What I meant is that every Bunker must have this. Since they are not moving much, the need for easier to carry don't arise much inside the bunker. Where lesser need to have changing magazine is the best solution against an enemy attack coming your way. Belt fed Machine guns will be there, but along with that this gun should be in the hands of the solider. There is a video of Jawan firing from INSAS and the gun getting Jammed. Old one. The T72 is said to be very reliable in terms of avoiding Jamming and also lesser issue with the barrel bending etc with sustained fire. So this gun is the best in defensive role instead of other guns. Give soldiers both drum and normal magazines. Let them use it based on the threat level they are encountering. When going on patrol let them choose the normal Magazine and inside bunkers the Drum one and keep firing at the enemy assault and nuetralize them much more faster and effectively.

^ Good.

Perhaps they might consider making an attachable under-barrel shotgun for our troops.

Like the M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System which could be attached to M4 carbines

Added - I missed that we are transitioning to the AKs. As such haven't seen AKs with under-barrel shotguns. So might not be feasible. Still the ukraine war has thrown up tough challenges and innovative as well as jugaad solutions. So never say never.
