From "Tribune" (posted in full). The noose is tightening around Mansoor Ijaz. They will paint him as a villian to TSPian national interest and he may pay a price for his past follies.

Memogate commission: Ijaz denies opposing Pakistan’s nuclear programme
Haqqani’s counsel seeks to establish Ijaz’s credentials as a national enemy.

By Qaiser Zulfiqar - Published: March 16, 2012
ISLAMABAD: The protagonist of the Memogate scandal Mansoor Ijaz on Wednesday said that he was never against Pakistan’s acquisition of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes or defense of the country. The illegal sale of nuclear technology for the benefit of rogue elements of the state, however, was unacceptable to him.

Replying to questions of Zahid Bokhari, counsel for former ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani, Ijaz said he wrote an article on nuclear proliferation shortly after Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan admitted to selling nuclear technology and secrets to other countries. Asked if he had any evidence for the article, Ijaz replied that he relied entirely on Khan’s confession.

During cross-examination, Bokhari attempted to make a case that Ijaz was an enemy of Pakistan.

Referring to another article published in Gulf News by Nina Gopal, he asked Ijaz if he had arranged a meeting between Yasin Malik and C D Sahay, a former head of Indian intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Ijaz admitted to arranging the meeting but clarified that Sahay was not heading the agency at the time. He denied it being a paid assignment by RAW and added that the meeting involved American interests.

Ijaz denied the allegations levelled by Bokhari that he was involved in destabilising different governments. Referring to another article, Bokhari asked Ijaz if he intended to dislodge the government of Sudan and had written a memo to Sandy Berger, a former deputy national security advisor to Bill Clinton, in this regard.

“This is ridiculous,” replied Ijaz. He admitted, however, that he had met with the Sudani Chief of Intelligence Lieutenant General Gutibi Al-Mehdi.

Ijaz also admitted to having relationships with more than two dozen intelligence agencies in the world but refused to answer if he worked for those agencies.

Ijaz said that he did not have any official status in the US and he has never been elected for any public office, adding that he is not even registered as a lobbyist in the country. He claimed to have played his role in his personal capacity as a private citizen of the US for the interest of his country.

Earlier at the outset of the proceedings, the commission found the transcript of the conversation of helicopter pilots and Pakistani air traffic controllers on May 2 unauthentic. The commission also expressed dissatisfaction over Hussain Haqqani’s reply to the evidence provided by Ijaz.

From "Tribune" (posted in full). Even without a dog in the fight, Sweden decides to pass an opinion on a TSP matter. What about the sovirginity of TSP?

Sweden not only opposes Pak-Iran pipeline, also deems TAPI not viable
Sweden opposes Pakistan’s collaboration with Iran because it said that Iran should clarify its nuclear objectives.

By Web Desk - Published: March 16, 2012
ISLAMABAD: Sweden has not only opposed the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project, but has also said that the alternative pipeline from Turkmenistan is also not viable, DawnNews reported on Friday.

Sweden opposed Pakistan’s collaboration with Iran because it said that Iran should clarify the reservations posed by the international community over Iran’s nuclear objectives.

The country also said that the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) Pipeline was not workable.

Earlier, a Chinese bank backed off from financing the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. The ICBC was finalised as the financial advisor through an international competitive bidding.

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) was reluctant to sign the financial advisor contract despite being the lowest bidder.

The financial advisor was responsible for arranging funds for completing the 800-kilometre-long pipeline, at an estimated cost of $1.5 billion.

According to a contract signed in 2009, Iran will supply 750 million cubic feet of gas per day from South Pars fields to Pakistan.

From "Tribune" (posted in full). No one can say RAW is not effective when even ISI and TSP MI says otherwise.

Missing persons: ISI, MI counsel says RAW and Mossad involved
Court asks if the agencies have credible information of their involvement, why no action being taken against them.

By Azam Khan - Published: March 16, 2012

ISLAMABAD: The counsel for Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) has revealed in the Supreme Court that Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Israel’s Mossad are active in Pakistan. He was speaking during the hearing of the missing persons case.

He said that they were behind kidnappings in the country and were being helped by terrorist groups.

The chief justice asked the defence counsel if the agencies had any credible information of the involvement of RAW and Mossad, and why they did not take any against them. “We did not bar you from taking action against RAW and Mossad.”

Terming the intelligence agencies’ reply on Adiala missing persons unsatisfactory, the apex court on Friday took suo motu notice against the abduction of a boy who used to provide food at camps set up by the relatives of missing persons outside parliament.

A three judge-bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry directed Inspector General of Police Islamabad and Attorney General of Pakistan Maulvi Anwarul Haq to submit a report of the incident by March 17 and present the abductee before the court on March 19.

Addressing Maulvi Anwarul Haq and Raja Irshad, counsel for ISI and MI, the chief justice said that this time a man was abducted right under the nose of the federal government. Advocate Tariq Asad the counsel for missing persons told the court that Omar Mehmood Khan was picked up by the intelligence agencies because he used to serve the food to the families at the missing persons’ camp at D-Chowk (in front of the Parliament).

Raja Arshad rejected the allegations, stating that the military intelligence agencies were not involved in missing persons’ episodes.

A family recently returned from Canada through a letter had informed the Human Rights Cell of the apex court that one of their family members, Omar Mehmood Khan, 24, was abducted by the agencies on March 10 near Orchid Scheme in Islamabad.

“After going through the contents of the letter last night, we issued notices to IGP Islamabad that what kind of high-handedness was underway by none other than officials of agencies, even in the federal capital city,” the chief justice informed the attorney general.

The letter suggests that Omar was kidnapped in the same style as was used in picking up many other missing persons. Men driving two double cabins with tinted glasses, a black corolla, a white Suzuki Baleno and a Suzuki Mehran picked up the boy in front of his father, mother and a younger brother.

Omar’s mother, Dr Rubina was also present in the court today. The chief justice, while calming her down, said that “we will not allow anyone to act above the law”, adding that the agencies were not above the Constitution.

Advocate Raja Irshad asked the court why all blame was leveled on the ISI and MI. The chief justice said that, “We respect our armed forces and intelligence agencies, but when they detracted then the court and media expressed concerns and you cannot stop us from this.”

During the last hearing, the court had rejected explanatory reports submitted by the lawyer of the agencies and termed them unsatisfactory, and had also sought a detailed report from the chief secretary of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The K-P chief secretary submitted a report on the health of inmates today, which was appreciated by the court.

Counsel for detainee Hafiz Majid, Advocate Tariq Asad informed the court that his client was suffering from Cancer and Hepatitis C, and asked that permission be granted to shift him to Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in Lahore.

The court was informed that the health condition of at least three prisoners was still not satisfactory. The chief justice asked Raja Irshad how the detainees were being treated. “Were they not human? Why a fair trial right was denied to them? We will proceed against you after deciding initial things – you will tell us how the four of them died in your custody.”

Advocate general of K-P will submit a report within three days on which internment centers inmates will be kept at. The court also asked him to arrange a place where relatives of these inmates could see them easily.

Ordeal in Pakistan Ends for 2 Swiss Hostages
By DECLAN WALSH
Published: March 15, 2012
"ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — A Swiss couple held by the Taliban in northwestern Pakistan for eight months turned up at a military checkpoint early on Thursday and were flown by helicopter to Peshawar and then Islamabad, where they were handed over to the Swiss Embassy, officials said.
It was unclear how the two obtained their freedom. A Pakistani military spokesman, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas, said they had escaped. But in a video released last week, another Taliban hostage, Ajmal Khan, the head of a university in Peshawar, said that the government had agreed to pay “millions of rupees” and to free 100 prisoners in exchange for the Swiss hostages........"

India has a long history of ignoring Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. With China entering the fray, can the country afford to follow this policy of indifference? Utpal Kumar talks to two well-known experts from Gilgit-Baltistan
How do people in POK see the rise of Imran Khan?

Imran Khan is one of the Taliban without a beard. He is very much the extension of the Pakistan Army. There’s a famous female activist in Pakistan who recently said that the women of that country would fear the day Imran Khan would come to power. Minorities fear the day he would come to power. The disputed areas fear the day he would come to power.

Imran Khan’s emergence is a lesson for the West, which erroneously thinks that if someone drinks or has an open relationship with the opposite sex, he is a liberal. In Pakistan, if you want to find a real liberal, ask him five questions: About India, Kashmir, China, Taliban and America. The person on the extreme left and the right would have the same answers. So, there is no liberal community in Pakistan. Here there is no difference between a Bhutto and a Mullah Omar. They all work for the Army and Islam. They are all same.

The pukis are setting the stage to blame India for the failure of the trials in pakiland.

Pak panel seeks cross-exam of 26/11 witnesses, India opposes
The recording of statements of two key witnesses in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks by a Pakistani judicial commission has been caught in a dispute over their cross examination with the Pakistanis insisting on it and the Indian side opposing the move.

According to sources close to the development, the Pakistanis are insisting on the cross examination of the two witnesses including the magistrate who had recorded the confessional statement of the lone surviving perpetrator of the attack Ajmal Kasab.

Objecting to the demand, Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, who is accompanying the witnesses, said when the Pakistani government had in November 2010 agreed to only recording of their statements, why was the commission seeking to cross examine them now.

There was a "hot exchange" between the defence lawyers in the Pakistani team and Nikam, the sources said.

The 8-member commission is scheduled to record the statements of magistrate R V Sawant Waghule, who had recorded Kasab's confession, and crime branch officer Ramesh Mahale, investigating officer in the 26/11 case.

The statements of two doctors-- Medical Officer (forensic department) of JJ Hospital Ganesh Nitukar and Shailesh Mohit of civic-run Nair hospital are to be recorded tomorrow. They had conducted autopsies on the nine slain terrorists and victims of the assault which lasted nearly 72 hours and left in its bloody trail 166 dead and many more wounded.

The Commission comprises defence lawyers Khwaja Haris, Riyaz Akram Choudhary, Fakhar Haayat, Raja Ehassan Ulhakhan and Isaam Bin Haris, special public prosecutors Choudhary Mohammed Azhar and Choudhary Ali and court official Azad Khan.

Nikam, who was Special Public Prosecutor in the terror trial, is assisting the Indian officers to be questioned by the Pakistani panel.

The panel is in India to record the statements of the four witnesses on behalf of a Pakistani anti-terror court that is trying LeT commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and six other suspects in the 26/11 case in that country. The statements would be used as evidence against the accused in the trial.

The Pakistani commission had arrived here yesterday after repeated postponement of their visit.

Hmmm...seems to be a waste of time allowing the pakis to attend the in-camera hearings. These gutter breeds shouldn't have been allowed to attend. Also, its a double-edged sword. If they are allowed to cross-examine (which apparently they weren't), the outcome would have never been satisfactory for the pork-rinds or meet any of their "high expectations" (whatever that means). If they aren't allowed, they will still belly ache about the legality of the trial. I bet my next round of beer at Mahoneys that the jehadi press in pukiland will be all over it and issue a spate of editorials and op-eds on this "Hindu conspiracy and mistrial" within a week of the cousellors' return.

Besides, arent these the same pigskin-douchebags who showered rose petals on Taseer's killer and offered to defend him pro bono? Ironic, isn't it?

Pakistan sacks Dutch hockey coach
Pakistan Thursday sacked their Dutch hockey coach over allegations he broke his contract, a move which could harm their preparations for the London Olympics.
PHF said he had failed to return to duties as scheduled last month
...a coach who signed another contract besides having a valid contract with Pakistan is not acceptable
PHF will take legal action against ...the Dutchman
So, a Dutch field hockey coach does not want to return to the land of milk, honey, bliss and peace, and signs another contract with a (safer) European club. What gives? Fear of a certain failure leading to being tarred and feathered, and ridden on a donkey through the streets of LaWhore? And, why is pukistan speaking with a forked tongue? They, of all people, should be familiar with "breaching contracts". In fact, they perfected that art and continue to thrive on it.

Salman Rushdie takes on Imran Khan over 'immeasurable hurt'

http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/salma ... eststories

This is what Mr Rushdie said:

•Imran was told well in advance I was coming. Imran is a man of the old school. Maybe he doesn't know how email works. This man wants to be the ruler of Pakistan.

If you want to placate mullahs, don't leave a paper trail. Imran said I caused immeasurable hurt to Muslims. In real world, immeasurable hurt is caused by terrorists based in Pakistan who attack countries like India. Imran wants us to talk to lashkar.

•Imran is now scared of facing my bouncers.

•Two months ago on Indian TV I promised I would be here. I have to thank Imran Khan. I was going to speak at a less important session. I thank him for this promotion and for vacating this spot.

Here he is trying to placate mullah and placate Army while presenting himself as the acceptable face of Pakistan.

In our time, essential freedoms are in danger of society. In India also, not just egalitarian states. Public apathy is also damaging. Ideally, a writer should not be the subject. Should be the observer, not observed.

I would place a substantial bet that he has not read it (Satanic Verses). When Imran was a playboy in London, he was called Im the dim.

•On the Congress- Years and years of kneeling down before every mullah did not work. It must feel sick.

I am not very fond of..let me not mention Chetan Bhagat..and yet I believe he has the right to publish..and live (Mr Bhagat is in the audience).

Excellent talk by Salman Rushdie at India Today Conclave 2012.

He taken on Imran Khan for his dramatic refusal to attend IT Conclave, the Congress Party's appeasement in UP and how the average Muslim all over world is hostage to the shenanigans of self-appointed 'mullahs'. [sic for leaders]

Trading across the Partition
The liberalisation of India-Pakistan bilateral trade is a good thing. Now leave it to market forces
Far more than civil society, trade—more than culture—will benefit Pakistan’s elite society. To the extent that it does, and further, to the extent that this creates vested interests among Pakistan’s rich and powerful to prefer stable bilateral relations, better trading relations will be good for India.
Cultural exchanges might not work the same way because they won’t fatten up the Pakistani elite as commerce is likely to.
But why weren’t the Pakistani elite interested in trying to benefit from India’s growth process?

Pakistan—perhaps because its unaccountable elite are buttressed by liberal Western aid—is unconcerned with improving the lot of its own people. That is its own problem. This does not mean it is not in India’s interests to improve trade with its crisis-ridden neighbour. It only means that it won’t hurt the Indian economy much if it doesn’t happen.[Double talk on double digit]
The timing of the deal, however, suggests that it came about not only because of the Zardari government’s commitment and political skills. With US-Pakistan relations still in tailspin, the prospects of the Pakistani economy ticking along on the back of external assistance are weak, and unlikely to improve in the medium term
So to some extent, trade with India allows the Pakistani elite to compensate for the loss of external aid to the economy. Bilateral trade could reach levels of $6 billion within a couple of years. However lopsided it might be in India’s favour, the Pakistani economy stands to gain.
echoes what shivji has been saying more or less.

And it also creates vested interests among India's rich and powerful who will advocate WKK policies. We have already seen a few during Op. Parakram.

Pakistan - our immoral war
The fact is, there is almost no oversight or accountability over the drone strikes in America, and certainly none in Pakistan, rendering the term “civilian” entirely useless in the discussion of any legal, ethical or strategic appropriateness of the targeted killing campaign.

The strikes chronicled in the AP report are merely the latest in a long campaign: at least 318 attacks since 2004, and 266 under President Obama. The United States publicly denied the drone campaign until January, when President Obama decided to use that most dignified of media venues — a Google+ Hangout — to tell his Pakistani allies in war that his country had, in fact, been bombing them for years. They should not worry, he said, because America was being careful about whom it killed.

The fact is, the American and Pakistani publics are entirely ignorant of a drone strike in Pakistan until after it occurs, and then we have little more than rumors. The hundreds of plausible drone attacks in Pakistan are documented by a handful of Pakistani papers or international press agencies in articles that, once stripped of their veneer explaining the political sophistication of the issue, are hardly longer than a Craigslist posting announcing the street corner where you can pick up a used bicycle.

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, which has arguably the most detailed open-source database on drone attacks, lists some ranges of the toll: between 2,412 and 3,063 people reported killed. Of them, between 467 and 815 were civilians and 178 of them children. Between 1,158 and 1,263 people were injured. Even the number of total strikes is actually unknown because we cannot definitively separate American and Pakistani conventional airstrikes from drone attacks. IMO if these mofos are admitting some numbers they must be creating a lower benchmark..safe to multiply the number by 50 or even 100
We know that funerals are targeted, as in the June 2009 strike that struck a gathering of 5,000 people. A drone had earlier killed a low-ranking Taliban official, and it was hoped that the group’s leader, Baitullah Mehsud, would attend the funeral, but Mehsud escaped unharmed. Instead, up to 83 people, including children and tribal elders, died in that failed baiting operation. In the end it took three tries and 130 deaths, including that of women and schoolchildren, to finally eliminate Mehsud. We know that American drones have targeted weddings and state-sanctioned anti-Taliban jirgas, like the one set up to solve a local dispute in Datta Khel in March 2011 where 53 people, including children and tribal elders, were killed.
Yes, Pakistan’s military has a hand in the Taliban, perhaps even al-Qaida, and some senior members probably helped hide Osama bin Laden. Rumors of Pakistan’s top civilian officials permitting American drone attacks are probably true. But this is not news to Pakistanis. It does not change the fact that Pakistanis are being killed with impunity by the United States. This is one of the possible reasons of why the Osama act was put up in a way that is most difficult for pukis to shrugg off - unkil sham can explain away the illegal drone program

TOI: Faith and fear silence Pakistani Singers
NEW DELHI: Until a few months ago, Pakistani singer and composer Shiraz Uppal's caller tune was the song "Rabba" from the Pooja Bhatt film Dhokha (2007). Now, one hears a prayer :rotfl: . Earlier this month, the Lahore-based musician announced that he would not be making music anymore as his religion forbids music.

After over a decade in the industry, Uppal has cut himself off entirely, even giving away all his instruments and recording equipment{So Islam is completely taking over a Pakis life}, save a guitar which was a gift from his late father. "He gave it to me in 1995. I've kept it as a memory of him," says Uppal.

Uppal's decision seems to fall into a pattern in Pakistan. In recent years, various singers and musicians have renounced their careers, either for personal reasons or in the face of threats from militant groups. UAE-based Pashtun singer Nazia Iqbal announced her retirement from music at a concert this January, reportedly to live as a "devoted Muslim woman". She also announced her plans to open madrassas in Pakistan.

Ali Haider of "Purani Jeans" fame made the transition from pop to devotional songs and qawwalis in 2009. In fact, as early as 2001, Junaid Jamshed, a sensation in Pakistan in the late 80s and early 90s and known to his fans as JJ, too gave up his musical career for religious reasons. Now, he only sings religious naats and has taken to preaching.

There are other artistes who have been killed. A significant Taliban presence in north-west Pakistan has ensured a strong clampdown on music and musicians. Guns have been in constant battle with guitars. Singer and dancer Shabana from Swat was killed in January 2009, followed by Peshawar-based Ayman Udas who was murdered the same year, in what was said to be an honour killing. Pakistani newspapers suggest that singers Gulzar Alam and Gulrez Tabassum, known for their Pashto songs, too quit after threats from militants.

Uppal, however, clarifies his musical exile isn't forced. "I am only doing this to make my Creator happy. For the past seven years, I had been having dreams about our Prophet. I took up reading the Quran Sharif and the Hadith seriously. It says that music is forbidden. So I decided to give it up. Music is not my destiny," says Uppal, who considers A R Rahman his guru in music.

He has worked with Rahman for a song in an upcoming film, Boys. His opinion of Rahman and others in the music fraternity, he says, remains unchanged. "As far as music is concerned Rahman has been and always will be an inspiration. But in matters of religion, the only person to look up to is the Prophet," he says. For now, he plans to put his MBA degree to use and possibly take up trading as a profession.

Many others don't have a choice, though. Besides threats to singers, other artistes and those in the music business have suffered too. More than 20 stores selling music CDs were attacked by militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and North Waziristan in November last year. In November 2008, The Lahore International Arts Festival was bombed. In 2007, Shoaib Mansoor's critically acclaimed film Khuda Kay Liye was issued a fatwa. The film, among other things, features a young musician giving up his career after coming in contact with a radical cleric.

Singer Zeek Afridi, who lives in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan, has in the past received phone calls asking him to stop music production. Though he has continued, several others haven't. "Haroon Bacha who sang Pashto songs left for the US after he was threatened. The overall atmosphere for business in general has suffered. If the government makes a platform for these artistes, things can get better," says Afridi, who recently visited India to shoot a music video.

There are two more take aways from this story
Though the government of Punjab in Pakistan stepped in to help him financially, he was robbed off at gunpoint in Lahore while on his way to India. A determined Khan, somehow, managed to reach Apollo Hospital in Delhi.
He added "I had lost my last child also to liver disease. However, this time I was not going to give up. Doctors said Samreen was suffering from an inherited disease and it could be because I am married to my cousin sister - a practice being followed in my family for over three generations."
If he had no money...who funded the treatment?

You did, Charlie, you did. And that too, at the cost of another poor Indian who could not afford medical treatment.

The rules of private hospital development are simple (and I remember this back from the '80s when my firm designed and built the Escorts Heart Reasearch Institute and Medical Center in Okhla, Delhi for Dr. Trehan and Dr. Ahmed). Ten percent of the beds and patients have to be earmarked for those who can not afford the medical treatment. We even created a separate entrance (may have changed since then). Private hospitals keep a strict track of this freebie as they do count on the remaining 90 percent to generate profits for the owners. Individual doctors and surgeons can waive their fees but the hospitals are required to charge (or else show the expense as a write off - as a subsidy). To provide free treatment to a poor paki (or a slew of poor pakis) in Indian hospitals means that the same number of poor Indians will go without free medical care. If you do not agree with this practice, please write to your local MLA or MP and complain of discrimination.

Anup ji, while agree with your suggestion. that may not change a thing given the current political / social atmosphere in the country.

Even my family will support the treatment of poor pakies in the country. Not that they are WKKs. They just see it as one of the ways the mango paki can be turned pro India.

And it also creates vested interests among India's rich and powerful who will advocate WKK policies. We have already seen a few during Op. Parakram.
napaakis elite is smaller relatively to India.
making elites dependent on India is important.
Think of uncle and elites dependent on uncle.
with increasing clout of India with growing economy, it can make things more difficult for uncle to compete directly or indirectly with India.
This is easier than done. But the right steps has to be made.

For practical purposes , free cases are the ones that bring publicity to the hospital. Like this one. Sometimes after making millions a doc might think of searching the deeper meaning of life. A couple of charitable operations usually follow, before the deeper meaning is found .

In my hospital , we won't treat any non Indian for free ever . AFAIK , no Paki has bothered seeking treatment at my place yet. But if they come in , they better have thick wallets . With genuine Indian currency .

MFN status to India shouldn't be made an issue: Gilani
"We should better rename the MFN, then I think this issue will be resolved," Gilani said jokingly during an interaction with a group of journalists at his residence in Lahore this evening. He said there seemed to be an issue with the nomenclature of MFN.

Gilani said Pakistan never sought an apology from the US for the cross-border air strike that killed 24 Pakistani solidiers in November last year.

Strange but true..? "Paki's Believe it or Not".

Did you know that the CIA was defeated in Af-Pak?! No kidding, here (according to the Pakis) is the man who did it,"Lt.Gen.Shady Pasha"! By the way, what you also didn't know was that it was the ISI which tipped off the US about OBL's whereabouts from his cell calls !

This made Pakistan more proud as General Pasha showed the moral courage and strength of character to look into the eyes of the then mighty CIA Chief Leon Panetta with firm resolve, steadfast position and unwavering courage to uphold Pakistani interests.
Man behind CIA Defeat in Pakistan

Politics, security and peace are interlinked factors which are directly connected and get affected due to the policies of global powers. The,intelligence agencies play pivotal role in framing foreign policies of the states. However regional and international politics and security environment is being controlled by super powers in particularly through their intelligence agencies.

In this connection, known top of the line agencies are CIA, Mossad, MI-6 and RAW. These agencies cultivate their agents and activate anti-state elements to menage and completion of their set objectives in Asia. After culmination of cold war era and 9/11 episode ,the countries like Russia, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, India, Middle East States, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have become main targets and focal points of CIA and its sister agencies' activities. To push back foreign intelligence agencies, ISI under the supervision of a professional soldier "Lt General Ahmad Shuja Pasha" enormously done well for safe guarding of Pakistan's national interest. CIA though remained successful in elimination of Osama Bin Laden (OBL) but overall failed to move further in completion of her set objectives. It is worth mentioning here that CIA's , only claimed victory of "OBL killing" was too result of a basic information (cellular Call) which was provided to her by ISI.

General Pasha took the charge of country's prestigious organ when democratic system was in progress in 2008. He has continuously led a professionally organization "ISI" for three years under harsh security environment and is retiring on March 18, 2012 after completion of a meritorious service. Reportedly, General Pasha has been asked to continue for another extension of one year but he has himself declined another one year extension offer of the Government as DG ISI.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has on record admitted publicly that government itself offered and requested Gen Pasha for extension of his tenure. It is also on record that while addressing the Parliament in OBL episode of 2 May 2011 Gen Pasha presented his resignation in the Parliament and said that he was ready to go home as a retired officer if Parliament desired so but it was not accepted by the parliament His performance do remind me quotation of one of my teacher, "brave soldier always starts his career with pride and says goodbye with honour and respect". Definitely the quotation mentioned proved true and he would be remembered as symbols of professional competence, devotion to duty and loyalty with full commitment.

After 9/11Pakistan offered unconditional support to US to fight and eliminate the terrorism, but unfortunately over a period of time US / CIA having developed some kind of malice against Pakistan started mistrusting ISI. There were clear signs of divergence of national interests between US and Pakistan. Hence, US led NATO forces especially CIA categorized ISI as a rival agency and failed to cooperate with the demands of ISI. On the other hand ISI offered full cooperation to CIA receiving bursting thrusts of terrorism. General Pasha dared to question the world's powerful agency CIA to explain the goals of their operations and reveal the number of operatives present in Pakistani, using local and foreign assets.

CIA simply scoffed at such demands made by ISI Chief and tended to bulldoze their way through. Resultantly Raymond Davis case occurred as a precursor to halt US free loitering in Pakistan especially unbridled CIA operations inside Pakistan. In fact General Pasha stood like a rock before US / CIA to protect Pakistan's national interests. This made Pakistan more proud as General Pasha showed the moral courage and strength of character to look into the eyes of the then mighty CIA Chief Leon Panetta with firm resolve, steadfast position and unwavering courage to uphold Pakistani interests.

General Pasha has clear thoughts and sharp mind especially when dealing with the opponents. He plainly indicated to CIA Chief Leon Panetta that since CIA did not trust ISI, therefore, ISI was not bound to keep the ties as they were. Panetta was totally surprised on such an unexpected remark. Resultantly harsh words were exchanged between the two which led General Pashas to cut short his Washington visit and come back to Pakistan. It simply speaks of his courage, mental shrewdness and decision making power to make judgments and critical evaluation to safeguard Pakistan's interests.

Notably, General Kayani and his team has displayed excellent professional capabilities, ISI unveiled the foreign agenda and fully supported security forces in eradication of terrorists. In this regards over 5000 civilians and 3000 troops including officers and men have laid down their lives. It also includes the martyring of over 78 intelligence officials while fighting in global war against terrorism. While addressing in-camera session General Pasha very loudly mentioned that 112 check posts of the allied forces as opposed to the 812 of the Pakistani forces. 2.8 million Individuals of Swat and surrounding area became IDPs. Pasha while addressing also maintained parliament that the actions of the United States were not expected from an ally in war against terrorism. He said that there is difference between India and the United States.

Anyhow recently, U. S. has been forced to announce her withdrawal from Afghan region after leaving behind bases. In so called war against terrorism, CIA always tried to pitch ISI against Haqqani Group of Taliban which was plainly refused by Pakistan, since ISI successfully unveiled foreign agenda. Again Pakistan supreme Intelligence agency "ISI" managed to get the immigration procedures operative for US / CIA / UN official to follow and get filtered as per local rules. Consequently the CIA spies working in the garb of trainers at police College Sihala, near Kahuta Nuclear Plant, were pushed out of such sensitive area sending them back to US. Hence, the nation is proud of his nationalistic posture and courageous stance of ISI and its Chief General Pasha. In short He certainly would be remembered as "Man behind CIA defeat In Pak-Afghan Region".

Pakistan emerging as investment hub
Image Loved the image :rotfl:
Pakistan is fast attaining the status of Business Opportunity Zone for potential foreign investors because it is not only the energy sector where investments would earn rich dividends but huge untapped mineral resources of trillion of dollars worth are a great attraction for foreign businessmen :rotfl: ....Pakistan and India together form the most populous and contiguous consumer market of world. Over 1.4 billion people or around 86 per cent of South Asian population lives in these two countries (to be precise 85% India and 15% pakistan). Two economies represent almost 95 per cent of the South Asian GDP (again over 85% India).

An ISI coup in the Pakistan military
By Najam Sethi
This is the creeping consolidation of the ISI through its DG from an arms-length intelligence directorate (Interservices Intelligence Directorate) in the first three decades of independent Pakistan to its metamorphosis in the last three decades as an unaccountable and all-powerful 'deep state within the state' that now controls both military strategy and civilian national security policy.
The unprecedented appointment of a serving DG-ISI as COAS (General Ashfaq Kayani) by President Pervez Musharraf was the first step in this direction.
The second was Kayani's own decision to routinely rotate senior serving ISI officers to positions of control in the army and vice-versa, coupled with his insistence on handpicking the appointment or extension in service of the DG-ISI.
Together, they reflect a cold new reality. The ISI has walked into GHQ and seized control of the military.

New downhill skiing. Pakistan didn’t seek US apology on Salala attacks: PM
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday said Pakistan was not looking for an apology from the US on the Salala checkpost incident
He said Pakistan was a mature and responsible nuclear power that wanted good and friendly ties with the rest of the world.
Amazing what stopping of $800 Million baksheesh can do to the H&D of a nuclear nation.

Three Pakistani smugglers shot dead by BSF
AMRITSAR: Three Pakistani smugglers were allegedly shot dead by the BSF during an encounter at the Indo-Pak border near Amarkot village here, officials said.

The gunfight broke out between the smugglers and the BSF patrolling party of 45 battalion when the former tried to enter into the Indian side last night. When asked to surrender, the Pakistani smugglers fired gun shots at the BSF jawans, who retaliated.

In the encounter which took place at the Dharma post, the three smugglers were killed, they said. The BSF also seized 22 kg of heroin worth Rs 110 crore in the international market, a .12 bore country-made gun, 10 live cartridges, two mobile phones and Rs 200 of Pakistani currency.
